AEW Collision 3/8/2025

AEW Collision 3/8/2025

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/03/aew-collision-312025.html

The Ops (Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata and Hook) vs Titus Alexander, Starboy Charlie and Jack Banning

Hook suplexes Star off the front facelock. He suplexes Titus. Titus gets tripped then chopped by Joe and Shibata. Titus takes a Joe back elbow. Joe hits punches and enzugiri's him in the corner. Titus takes running corner attacks, a suplex and a senton. Shibata PK's Titus and wins.

Thoughts: It was a quick squash as expected with The Ops winning easily. It was nice to see Titus and Charlie.

Cope does a promo in the back. He says Mox told him all he had to do was ask for a fight. He said he did and said Mox hid behind his buddies. He says Mox is afraid of losing his title. Cope says he needs the Mox that started AEW and not the current Mox. Cope says he knows time is running out and this may be his last shot. Cope says they will fight for the first time ever at Revolution. He says he has to win and says he will see him win.

Thoughts:
The audio was messed up here and it was hard to hear most of this.

Serena Deeb vs Momo Watanabe

Mercedes Mone is on commentary. Deeb wristlocks her. Momo reverses it. Deeb rolls out of it and takes her down by the arm. Deeb side headlock takeovers her. Momo headscissors her. They repeat the spot with the roles reversed.

Deeb side headlocks her then shoulders her over. Deeb armdrags her then does a surfboard. Deeb corner lariats her then Momo dropkicks her. Momo hits a corner dropkick. Momo hits chest kicks. Deeb dragon screws her while she's on the 2nd buckle. Deep spinning neckbreakers her.

We go to PiP break and return. Momo backslides her into a chest kick. Momo hits forearms then does Mone's three amigos. Momo PK's her for 2. Deeb does an octopus on her. Momo suplexes her and we see Billie Starkz watching in the back. Deeb rebound germans her. Deeb hits a pepsi twist lariat for 2.

Momo back body drops her then meteora's her for 2. Debb sunset flips her into a half-crab. They lariat each other on the ropes. Momo high kicks her. Momo hits a wristclutch half-nelson suplex and wins.

Thoughts: It wasn't the usual Deeb match at least which was appreciated. It wasn't anything too exciting though and got a lot of time. Momo got a win here before she loses to Mone tomorrow and probably isn't seen again for months or years in AEW.

Mone gets in the ring and pushes her title in Momo's face. Momo high kicks her. Momo hits a top rope meteora on her.

We see clips from Will Ospreay in medical after Dynamite. He says the pain he feels physically don't match to the pain he feels mentally. He says he's entering a match he has never been in. He says he wore his United Empire armband to hope that some part of that group is still in him. He says it's not a faction but a group of people who looked after each other. He names all kinds of NJPW people and says they took over Japan. He says he thought they would get the band back together and take over AEW but now he's on opposites of Kyle Fletcher. He says he's like a wounded animal in the cage. He says he has no choice but to go after his brother. He says he will stab Kyle back in the back and says he will end this once and for all.

Harley Cameron vs Tatevik Hunanyan

Tat hits HC from behind and bangs her head off the mat. Tat stomps and pounds on her. Tat boots, rolls over her back and kicks her. Tat russian legsweeps her. Tat bangs HC's head off the mat. HC makes her comeback and hits a lariat.

HC hits a running knee then hits a twisting reverse ddt and wins.

Thoughts: It wasn't that good. Tat is green and messed up some of the offense she had here and HC isn't good enough to lead a match like this.

Kyle Fletcher does a promo. He says the thing he loves the most is dropping people on his head. he said looking the way he does makes it better as does him doing it to Will. Kyle says Will has always stood in his way. He says Will's accomplishments mean nothing and says Will will just be remembered as Kyle's greatest rival. Kyle then shows the United Empire and says this thing is a facade like that. He says this thing is a way for Will to stroke his own ego. He says Will is locked in the lion's den with him and he's hungry for revenge. He says he will paint the ring with his blood. He tells Will not to forget he asked for this.

The Infantry (Shawn Dean and Carlie Bravo) vs Kyle O'Reilly and Roderick Strong

RS = Roderick Strong

RS and Bravo go at it. Bravo backs him up in the corner and gets chopped as he talks trash. Bravo takes chops and kicks from his opponents then Dean is chopped. Kyle suplexes Bravo then hits mounted shots.

Dean shoulders Kyle over. Kyle knees him in the gut. Kyle is double teamed in the corner. Kyle has his legs split and is booted by both. Kyle back body drops Bravo over the top. RS gets in and dropkicks Dean twice. RS uses the ropes to spinning backbreaker Bravo. Dean is then thrown onto Bravo for 2.

We go to PiP break and return. RS takes a diving lariat from the buckles. Dean hits a top rope splash on RS for 2. RS and Dean double clothesline each other. Kyle running facekicks Bravo then hits chest kicks. Kyle hits kicks and a legsweep on Dean. Kyle ankle locks Bravo. Dean sleepers Kyle as he does this.

Kyle spinning forearms Dean out. Kyle guillotine chokes Bravo. Kyle spin kicks Bravo then RS dropkicks Dean through the ropes. Bravo takes a high/low and is pinned.

Thoughts:
They did what they could with it but it wasn't that interesting. The Infantry rarely win and it was hard to buy that they had a shot here. Strong and Kyle aren't exactly AEW's biggest personalities either.

Don Callis and Konosuke Takeshita talk. Don says life is good and they are on a ride. He says Kenny was called the god of pro wrestling and says there's a new god. Don asks how long until Kenny's guts explode. He says they will end Kenny.

We see clips from ROH of The Learning Tree attacking Bandido and Gravity. They say Gravity wants a match with Jericho at Revolution.

Jon Moxley does a promo. He says him and Cope have a lot in common. He says they are the last of a dying breed. Mox says Cope has sacrificed it all for one last chance at the title. He says this is about respect. He says he doesn't get what Cope is about. He asks if he should show him mercy when he has his hands around his neck. He asks if Cope gave his crew mercy. Mox says when Cope feels his spinal column breaking, he will feel what respect feels like.

Hologram vs Dralistico

Holo misses some offense and both do moonsaults over each other. They then headflip and stare down. Dral chops him. Dral flying shoulders him then grabs Holo's mask. Holo armdrags him. Holo then hits a nice tope. Dral then springboard diving headscissors him. Dral then tope con hilos him outside.

We go to PiP break and return. Holo slides out and does a standing spanish fly on the floor. They chop each other on the apron. Dral pumping knees him. Holo superkicks him. Dral hurricanrana's him off the apron to the floor.

They trade forearms and chops on the floor. They forearm flurry each other and get back in before they both get counted out. Dral kicks the buckle into Holo's head then springboard diving codebreakers him for 2. Holo hits superkicks then sitout powerbombs him for 2. Dral corkscrew kicks him. Dral crossbodis him but Holo turns it into a flipping slam. Dral then crucifix bombs him.

Holo enzugiri's him from the apron. Dral springboard canadian destroyers him. Dral tries to pin him with his feet on the ropes but is caught. Holo cradles im and spin kicks him in the head. Holo spinning torture rack bombs him and pins him with Dral's shoulder clearly up.

Thoughts: It got a lot of time and as usual with these guys, the more time it got, the more they no sold and the more they did bigger moves. It started out fine but just turned into your usual indy style match by the end and I didn't like it.

The Beast Mortos comes out and spinning lariats Holo. He tries to rip the mask. Komander comes out and springboard dropkicks Mort. Kom get a shot in on Dral. Dral grabs Alex then sends him into the rails. Mort beats up on Kom and rips at his mask. Mort and Dral then pose.

FTR, Daniel Garcia, Strong, O'Reilly and Adam Cole talk. Cash says he apologizes for not being more professional last week. Dax says he doesn't apologize for anything, just apologizes for him stooging his own team off to the ref. Kyle says the victory was tainted and says let's run it back next week. Adam Cole then grabs Garcia and says Garcia knows he deserves a rematch. Cole says they will have to see if he's still champ after tonight. Garcia says he can't talk as he has to defend his title.

Lexy interviews The Hurt Syndicate about The Outrunners. MVP says The Runners are entertaining. They make you feel good and laugh. MVP says they like violent, savage entertainment. He says they want to make you cringe and gasp. He says people identify with underdogs because they are underdogs. MVP says Bobby and Shelton have only ever been top dogs. MVP says they will make The Runners suffer and hurt them badly. MVP says you put a dog down when it's suffering.

The Outrunners (Truth Magnum and Turbo Floyd) vs The Premier Athleties (Ari Daivari and Tony Nese)

Mark Sterling comes out with his crew and says they should be getting the tag title shot. Mark tries to get the crowd to say "Athletes Rule" but the crowd doesn't.

Nese boots and punches Truth. Truth hits armdrags on Nese then punches him down. Turbo suplexes Nese. Nese pulls Truth's hair. Truth is pounded on by The Athletes. Truth is held for shots from Nese.

Ari chokes Truth on the ropes and Sterling slaps Truth. Truth gets mad and grabs him. Truth pulls Ari's neck down over the ropes. Ari takes a double shoulder. Nese takes a double hiptoss. The Athletes take atomic drops then dropkicks.

We go to PiP break and return. Nese chinlocks Truth. Truth fights out of the corner then Nese pulls Truth's throat down over the top. Ari hits a top rope splash on Truth. Nese lariats Ari on accident. Turbo gets in and hits punches on both opponents. Turbo slams Ari then slams Truth onto Ari.

The Runners do a double elbow drop. They go for their finisher and The Hurt Syndicate's theme hits. The Hurt's come out. Nese backrolls Turbo into a spinkick for 2. Turbo hits a double clothesline and Ari takes a total recall. The Runners get the pin on Ari.

Thoughts: It was alright with The Athletes losing as expected. We hadn't seen The Athletes in a long time on this show.

We see clips of The Queen of the Ring premier. Toni Storm is interviewed and Mariah May hits her then yells at her.

We get a video on Adam Page vs MJF.

MxM Collection, Johnny TV, Taya, The Murder machines and Mark Davis do a promo. Johnny says they are friends but Cage says they will help them. Mark Briscoe and Orange Cassidy talk. Mark says they will conglomerate in LA. Mansoor says his group are The Cooperation. They say they will destroy Briscoe, OC and The Costco Guys.

AEW TNT Title - Daniel Garcia vs Lee Moriarty

You are just asking for low ratings if you run this as your main event. Lee's the ROH Pure champ currently.

They lock up and Lee is sent into the ropes. Lee waistlock takedowns him. They trade front facelocks. DG spins around Lee's back. They straightjacket each other. DG rolls him by the arms and dances. DG shoulders him over.

Lee armdrags DG. DG cradles him for 2. Lee spin kicks him. DG running facekicks him. DG corner lariats Lee then hits mounted punches. DG is dropped facefirst on the buckles. They go outside. Lee ear claps him. Lee is sent into the rails. DG dropkicks him against the rails.

We go to PiP break and return. Lee does an abdominal stretch. Lee elbows DG in the back of the neck. Lee hits knees to the gut and DG gets a 2 count on him. Lee crossboides him. DG suplexes him.

DG hits punches on Lee. DG dropkicks him. DG hits a corner lariat. DG hits corner punches. DG hits a twist and shout for 2. DG backdrops him. DG hits a top rope superplex. Lee then does a twisting underhook bomb on him. DG lariats Lee. DG backslides him and they trade pin attempts.

They facekick each other at the same time and double lariat each other down. They trade shots. DG chops him and Lee knees him in the face. Lee does a border city stretch. DG sharpshooters him. Lee does a border city stretch.

DG piledrivers him and wins.

Thoughts: I wasn't too interested in this one. It was obvious DG wasn't losing here and Lee losing while being a champ is a bad look. I have no idea why this was booked in the main since it's guaranteed to be a ratings loser. DG basically worked a Japanese match in this one while Lee stuck to various submissions. The work was okay and all but this just shouldn't have been in this spot.

Shane Taylor Promotions surround the ring after. The Undisputed Kingdom then save DG.

Kenny Omega does a taped video. He says Takeshita used him to get what he wanted. He says he remembers him asking for help and says the help wasn't enough. He says KT thinks Don Callis can take him to the top of the mountain. He asks what will happen when KT loses though? He asks if he will be thrown to the side. He says KT is still living in a fantasy world. He says this is KT's chance to beat him man to man and show he's one of the best on the planet. Kenny says we will find out if he's one of the best on the planet tomorrow.

Overall thoughts: The PPV is tomorrow so there wasn't going to be anything too big happening here. It was the usual Collision in-ring wise with the B-Team mostly doing filler matches here. I thought the main was a mistake and a guaranteed ratings loser. While it was good they had most of the people in big matches on the PPV in promos and videos, it would have been better if some of them wrestled on here. There was nothing must see on this one and I don't think you would miss much if you skipped this. Harley's match was easily the worst match of the night and maybe The Outrunners' match was the best match of the night. I'd give it a 5 out of 10 as nothing was really wrong with it, but it was average and not that interesting.

1 comment :

  1. Hopefully Dralistico earned himself the right to be booked more than once every three months, he did what nobody else has been able to do: He had a real match with Hologram, instead of the spectacle of the opponent standing there while Gram does all of his batshit insane moves.

And yeah, her match last night was proof positive that Harley Cameron may be very popular and entertaining, but she's nowhere close to being able to bring it in the ring.
