AEW Collision 3/22/2025 Slam Dunk Saturday

AEW Collision 3/22/2025 Slam Dunk Saturday

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/03/aew-collision-3152025.html

This aired at 11PM due to the NCAA Tournament and will only be an hour long. There will be a second one hour show at 11PM on Sunday.

TNT Title - Daniel Garcia (c) vs Adam Cole

They shake hands. Cole wristlocks him then DG reverses it. Cole reverses it. DG rolls out of it and dances. DG side headlocks him. DG shoulders him over. Cole armdrags him then avoids an armdrag. Cole shoulders him over then side headlock takeovers him. DG then does it to him and they stand off.

They nudge each other on the ropes and roll around the ropes. DG chops him then dropkicks him. DG hits a corner lariat then hits corner punches. DG is thrown over the top to the floor. DG is thrown knee first into the steps twice.

Cole does a hold on the leg. DF running knees him for 2.  Cole hits shots to the knee. Cole goes for a figure four and is cradled. Cole backcrackers him for 2. We go to PiP break and return.

DG's leg is banged off the post. They trade shots. Cole pump kicks him and hits an enzugiri. DG hits a twist and shout then hits a second one. DG then hits another while Cole is bridged on the ropes. Cole hits an ushigoroshi. DG flying knees him.

DG flying knees Cole against the rails. Cole then hits oblivion for 2. They go on the buckles but DG falls down due to knee pain. Cole then hits a panama sunrise for 2.  DG germans him outside then piledrivers him inside for 2.

Cole hits another panama sunrise for 2. Cole figure fours DG. DG then does a sharpshooter to Cole.

They trade shots on the apron. Cole then does a canadian destroyer on the apron. The time limit then runs out.

Thoughts: I didn't like this. 2 panama sunrises and a canadian destroyer on the apron weren't enough to put down the almighty Daniel Garcia. It was a long opener that went 20 minutes and it just wasn't that exciting with two of the blandest guys on the AEW roster. What's worse is that we are assuredly getting another rematch out of these guys. Cole worked the leg all match long.

Max Caster comes out for his open challenge. The crowd chants for Bowens and Max says he ran him out of AEW. Max tries to start a chant for himself which fails.

Open Challenge - Max Caster vs Hook

Hook comes out for the open challenge. Max says he knows Hook has a lot to say. He throws the mic at him and pounds on him. Max goes up and over and cartwheels over him. Hook trips him and does a red rum. Max then taps out.

Thoughts: It was short and not real helpful for either guy.

Lexi interviews Queen Aminata. Sereena Deeb interviews. She says Queen listened to her and won her matches. Deeb brings her a book of 1,000 holds. She says everything Queen needs to know is here. Deeb says no thanks to the book and says she can win on her own. Deeb says we will see about that.

Julia Hart vs Queen Aminata

Queen blocks a roll up off the casadora. Hart crucifixes her for 2. Hart then rolls her up for 2. Hart backslides her then cradles her for 2. Queen boots her then suplexes her into the bottom rope.

Queen uranage's her on the apron. We go to PiP break, full break and return. Hart STO's her then standing moonsaults her. Hart hits corner back elbows. Queen hits an air raid crash for 2.

They fight on the buckles and Hart does a spider superplex. Queen headbutts her for 2. Queen forearms her in the chest then misses a move against the ropes. Hart then pins her.

Thoughts:
The match was average and the finish was weak with Queen basically dropkicking the ropes to lose. Hart's nose got busted open here. Deeb shockingly didn't come out during this.

Lexy interviews Harley Cameron. She is asked about Mortos. She says lucha is a fascinating world and says she's sure the match tomorrow will be fantastic. She is asked if she and Harleygram are the same person. Harley then yells "feel the wrath" and disappears off camera.

Powerhouse Hobbs and The Conglomeration (Mark Briscoe and Rocky Romero) vs The Don Callis Family (Konosuke Takeshita, Brian Cage and Lance Archer)

The Conglomeration seems to be back together after silently breaking up.

Mark side headlocks KT. KT shoulders Mark over. KT blocks a crane kick. Mark goes for a top rope chop but is hit in the gut. Mark tope con hilos Cage through the ropes outside and takes a boot from Lance. Rocky flying knees Lance off the apron.

Hobbs lariats KT. Rocky top rope double stomps KT. Rocky tries to tope Cage but is caught, passed to KT and powerbombed on the apron edge. We go to PiP break and return.

KT and Rocky trade shots. Rocky slaps him. Rocky springboard tornado ddt's him. Mark is hot tagged in and hits shots on Cage and KT. Mark back pele kicks Cage. Mark flips out of a back body drop. Mark fisherman's busters KT for 2.

Mark fights off a double team. Hobbs powerslams Cage. Hobbs hits corner lariats then spinebusters KT. Hobbs and Cage trade. Cage germans him. Rocky is caught off the top by Cage. Rocky step up enzugiri's him. Hobbs spinebusters Cage.

KT forearms Hobbs then blue thunders him. Mark and KT trade. KT facekicks him then Mark exploders him. Lance shoulders Mark over then Rocky puts a sleeper on Lance. Rocky dropkicks Lance in the knee then rewind kicks him. Rocky rolls up Lance for 2. Rocky springboards into a Lance forearm. Rocky then takes a chokeslam + powerbomb combo. KT hits raging fire on Rocky and wins.

Thoughts:
It was a solid tag with Hobbs/Cage/Lance doing heavyweight stuff and Mark and Rocky being the underdog faces. I would have opened the show with this one over Cole/Garcia as even on paper it looked like the more exciting match. Rocky lost as expected because he's not around here full time and it doesn't matter if he loses.

Overall thoughts: I liked the main and thought Cole/Garcia and the finish to it was the wrong call for the opener. Queen/Hart was just average and Max/Hook was a waste of time. I'd give this one a 5 out of 10 and wouldn't recommend it as it felt like the rebirth of Rampage.
