AEW Dynamite 4/1/2026

We are in Winnipeg, Canada. Tony Schiavone, Nigel McGuinness and Excalibur are on commentary.
Tony Schiavone is in the ring for a contract signing. Fireworks go off twice when they aren't supposed to.
Chris Jericho comes out, making his return to AEW after many months away. Everyone was sure he was going to WWE. CJ takes a while to get talking. He says he's home and then hugs some people before leaving.
We go to the back. Will Ospreay throws Mox into some kegs in the back. Yuta grabs Will and is thrown into the kegs.
MJF and Kenny Omega come out for the contract signing. Kenny signs the contract and tells him to shut his mouth. He says MJF talked to himself in the mirror. He says things won't go the way MJF plans. Kenny says the people aren't here for him but to watch the best wrestle. He says the fans stand behind him.
Kenny says he can maybe the god of wrestling to knock him down a peg. He says someone needs to make sure he's not close to the belt again and he will do it. MJF asks if this is Kenny at 100%? He says Kenny is aging fast. He says Kenny is a stroke of wind away from retirement like his boyfriend Kota Ibushi.
MJF says he wants to talk about why Kenny is desperate to become champ. He says Kenny talked to his doctor and his diverticulitis is to the point where his intestines can explode at any time. He says Kenny's life is a race against time. He says Kenny would be better off dead. Kenny flips the table and MJF tries to get Kenny to hit him.
Mike Bailey comes in to back Kenny off. Mike says MJF is trying to goad Kenny into hitting him as he is afraid. He says there's no AEW without Kenny and without AEW, there's no MJF. He says MJF needs to respect that Kenny is a living legend. He says some of his ego may go away if he kicks some sense into his head. Mike says let's do it now.
Kenny says he spoke to MJF's doctor too. Kenny says he'd rather be missing his intestines than his balls like MJF. MJF agrees to a match with Mike and says he will make an example of him. He says Canada is a dump and says only the USA matters. He says Mike isn't wrestling any MJF but an American hero.
Brody King, Jack Perry and Kenny Omega vs The Demand (Ricochet, Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona)
Kaun and KO lock up. Kaun side headlocks him. KO is knee'd by Ric form the apron. KO is beat up on in the corner. KO back body drops Ric. Ric takes corner attacks. King sentons Ric. They six fight and go out. Jack top rope moonsaults outside. Ric eye rakes King.
We get a 6 person suplex. Jack hits chops on Ric. Kaun pulls Jack out and Toa runs over Jack outside. We go to PiP break and return. Jack takes a pump kick then a sandwich lariat and double backdrop. Ric boots Jack around. Jack flying shoulders Ric.
KO hits sledgehammer shots on the heels. KO finlay rolls Kaun then 2nd rope moonsauts him. KO enzugiri's Ric then dragon suplexes Kaun and Ric. Toa runs into KO's knee. KO dragon suplexes him. King corner cannonballs all 3 heels for 2.
Kaun dropkicks KO off the apron. He pulls King's throat over the top then lariats Jack. Toa hits running attacks on the faces outside. Ric topes all 3 faces. Kaun suplexes KO and Ric springboard 450's KO for 2.
Jack thwarts the heels then is caught on a tope con hilo. King then topes them all down. Ric springboard lariat KO and handspring kicks King. Ric fosbury flops King. KO flying pumping knees Ric. Ric poisonrana's KO.
King is sent into the rails and he crossbodies Toa over the rails through a table. Ric superkicks KO then corkscrew kicks him. Ric hits vertigo on KO for 2. Ricn and Jack fight over the National Title. KO is sent into Jack. Ric rolls up KO for 2. KO pumping knees him. KO pumping knees Ric then hits an OWA on him for the win.
Thoughts: It was your usual trios match. It got a lot of time and it was fine with lots of fast paced action. Kenny's team won though The Demand probably could have used it more.
Willow Nightingale talks. She says she wants to defend the TBS Title on Collision. She says she wants to wrestle the best and see who steps up to the challenge.
Adam Copeland and Christian Cage are interviewed by Renee. Cope says they are here to take out FTR and anyone who gets in their way. Cage then goes to swing the chair at Renee before Cope stops him.
We go to break and return. Cope and Cage try to go in FTR's room, but they aren't there. They run into Rocky Romero and Trent Barretta instead. Trent says they are on Collision tomorrow. Trent says they can take a message Cage says they are in their way. Cope and Cage then chair Rocky and Trent. Cope says see if they can get that message.
Will Ospreay vs PAC
Pac nails Will on the ramp as he enters. Pac brainbusters him on the stage. The doctors check on Will. Will holds his neck. Will eventually gets into the ring. Pac facekicks him and stomps on him. Pac slams him and knee drops him. We go to PiP break and return.
Will flips out of a snapmare. Will springboard flying forearms him. Will handspring corkscrew kicks him for 2. Pac's top rope moonsault is caught and Will brainbusters him out of it. Will top rope 450's him for 2. They trade shots on the apron. Will goes for a sunset bomb on him. Pac moonsaults off the apron into a tornado ddt on him on the floor.
We go to PiP break and return. They trade forearms. Pac spin kicks him in the gut. Pac germans him for 2. Will hits a styles clash for 2. Will flips out of a 2nd rope hurricanrana. Pac hurricanrana's him for 2. Pac running lariats him. Pac tombstones him. PAc hits a top rope black arrow then does the brutalizer. Will rolls him over and pins him.
Thoughts: It was a good bout. Pac worked the neck the whole time and Will slipped a win in the end. It wasn't quite the wild high flying affair you'd want but they had the right idea and I liked it.
Pac attacks Will after. WIll hits a hidden blade. Will is stomped by The Death Riders. The Riders come out and beat up Will. Mox asks if they put him here or if Will puts him here. Mox tells him to use his head or he might lose it permanently.
Thekla, Julia Hart and Skye Blue vs Mina Shirakawa, Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor
SB pulls Mina down by the hair. Mina's head is banged off the buckles. Mina enzugiri's her off the buckles. Alex comes in and knocks down SB. Alex atomic drops SB. SB takes a boot from Jamie for 2. SB's head is banged off the buckles. SB takes corner attacks.
Mina slingshot tornillo's SB for 2. SB step up knees Mina on the ropes and Thek facekicks Mina on the apron. Thek double stomps Mina's back off the apron. We go to PiP break and return.
We get a 6 person suplex. Thek and Alex trade. Mina shotgun dropkicks Thek in the corner and throws her by the head. Mina slingblades Thek for 2. Mina running knees Thek. SB twisting full nelson drops Mina. Alex sky highs SB. Hart takes a uranage backbreaker from Jamie. Thek buzzsaw kicks Jamie. Mina and Thek knock each other down at the same time.
Hart takes a double boot then a sandwich lariat. Thek blocks a hart attack variation. Jamie headbutts Thek. Alex lariats Thek. Thek then takes a hart attack. Jamie backbreakers Hart then lariats her for the win.
Thoughts: It was an alright tag here. They didn't really blow anything, they kept it moving and it went about the right amount of time. I don't like the heels losing since they are most established but I suppose Jamie and Alex didn't need to lose either.
Darby Allin comes out. He says MJF is scared and says he knows he's willing to die for the title. Darby tells him to get out here. The Don Callis Family comes out instead. Don says MJF paid his family a lot of money. He says MJF asked him to tell him that if Darby can beat MJF's hand picked member of The Don Callis Family at Dynasty, he will give him a title shot. Don says the winner is Andrade. Don then tells his crew to attack Darby.
Lance gets hit in the face with a skateboard. Brody King and Jack Perry come out to help Darby. Clon is chokedslammed on the apron. The heels are cleared off and Kenny Omega then comes out to do commentary.
MJF vs Mike Bailey
MJF hits Mike as he poses on the ropes. Mike hits chest kicks and forearms on MJF. MJF hides behind the ref then eye rakes Mike. MJF boots Mike in the corner. Mike is sent into the steps.
MJF eye rakes Mike. MJF throws Mike down by the hair. Mike hits forearms on MJF. MJF powerbomb backbreakers Mike on the knee.
MJF does Mike's poses then Mike sweeps him. Mike hits forearms on MJF. MJF eye pokes him. Mike chest kicks MJF down. Mike kick combos MJF. Mike spin kicks and axe kicks MJF. Mike running ssp's MJF for 2. Mike pump kicks MJF off the apron then triangle moonsaults him outside. Mike springboard dropkicks him.
MJF pulls Mike's throat over the top rope. Mike backslides him for 2. Mike cradles him for 2. MJF hits shots on him. Mike standing spanish flies him off a crossbody. Mike springboards and is caught with a powerbomb. Mike is dropkicked in the knee and bangs his face off the apron. Mike top rope moonsaults him outside.
We go to PiP break and return. Mike is up top and knocked down to the apron. Mike standing moonsault double knees him on the apron. Mike running facekicks him. Mike spin kicks him in the face then corkscrew kicks him. Mike hits an ultimate weapon on him for 2.
Mike misses a moonsault double knee drop on the apron. MJF tombstones him on the apron. MJF hits a heatseeker piledriver over the 2nd rope and pins him.
Thoughts: It was alright. Mike did the kicks and high flying. MJF did cheaper tactics for the most part. MJF picked up the win as expected.
MJF pounds on him after and Kenny Omega comes in to stop it.
Overall thoughts: It was a heavy wrestling edition of Dynamite as usual. There wasn't a ton going on storyline wise and with only 11 days until the next PPV, we only know of 4 matches. That's not good. The show was good wrestling wise with all 4 matches getting a thumbs up from me. We also got the return of Chris Jericho, though that personally does not interest me. I'd give the show a 6 out of 10 and thought it was a good show overall. I was also happy this didn't go too far over it's allotted time.
