WWE Bad Blood 2024 10/5/2024

WWE Bad Blood 2024 10/5/2024

We get a cinematic video and we see Triple H and Cody Rhodes meet up in a parking garage. HHH gives him an envelope. Cody says "Bad Blood? I'm in". Cody asks if the mission is sitting in a parking lot and HHH says this requires a stakeout. Cody wants to take his tour bus and Triple H says no. He then tells him to text Roman.

We then see Cody and someone named Metro at a stakeout in front of State Farm Arena.

We see Cody Rhodes arrive with a singer named Metro Boomin and see Triple H walk around.

Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill and Naomi are in the ring to open the show. They say it'll be an amazing and history changing night then say we are starting with Hell in a Cell.

We see Goldberg and his son watching in the crowd. I have a feeling his son is gonna get an NIL contract.

Hell in a Cell - CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre

They stare down and trade forearms. Punk gets punches in and Drew throws him in the corner. Punk is thrown out and goes into the cell. Drew is sent into the cell and Punk spears him into it. Drew's head is banged off the cell. Drew chairs Punk and bangs his head off the steps. Drew presses Punk's head into the steps with his feet.

Drew pours stuff out of a tool box and misses a wrench shot on Punk. Punk hits punches then stabs Drew with the wrench. Drew rips the leg off a table and tries ot hit Punk with it. Drew is tripped into the table. Punk hits and chokes Drew with the table leg. Drew' is banged off the back of a table.

Drew claymore kidcks Punk outside the ring. Punk is lawn darted into the cell and starts bleeding. Drew hits Punk with the steps then stomps his head against the steps. Drew tells him he will end his career and says Punk's wife will leave him. Drew stabs Punk in he head with the wrench.

Drew hits an air raid crash on the steps for 2. Punk does the anaconda vice. Drew tries to hit Punk with a wrench but Punk hits him with it instead. Drew low blows him. Drew pours beads on Punk's head to symbolize the bracelet he broke. Drew sentons the steps when Punk.

Punk puts beads in Drew's mouth and hits a go to sleep. Punk then pins him and wins.

Punk has to be helped out some after and is given oxygen.

Thoughts:
I wasn't a fan of this one being in the opener and going long. It just gets the show off to slow start and gets you tired out to start which is not what openers are supposed to do. They put a lot of effort into this one and had a dramatic and bloody match. I thought it would have been better if time was cut off of it and if the pace was quicker. It wasn't fine overall, but I was checking out by the end of it.

Jacqueline, Booker T and Lillian Garcia are shown in the crowd.

Jade, Bianca and Naomi are partying in a suite and name drop people. They talk about the matches they are excited for.

WWE Women's Title Match - Nia Jax (c) vs. Bayley

They lock up. Nia rams her into the corner and slaps her around. Nia hair throws and splashes her. Nia hits a bodyblock then a stiff lariat for 2. Nia hits another nice bodyblock.

Nia bearhugs her then single leg crabs her. Nia bodyblocks her on the ropes. Nia camel clutches her then is thrown out. Bay legdrops her over the back of the neck on the ropes. Bay baseball slides her then pounds on her outside. Bay topes her outside.

Bay running knees her then sunset bombs her into the buckles. Bay hits a top rope elbow drop for 2. Nia runs into the steps outside when Bay moves. Bay elbow drops her off the steps. Bay jumps off the steps and is hit in the stomach.

Nia powerbombs her on the steps and then swings her into the rails. Nia hits a sloppy pop-up samoan drop for 2. Bay samoan drops her. Nia falls on the ref and squashes her. Bay is popped up and hits a stunner then she roseplants Nia. The ref is down though and can't count.

Tiffany Stratton comes down. She hits Bay with the briefcase and wakes up the official. She considers cashing in then Nia wakes up. Nia stares down Tiff. Bay pushes Nia into Tiff and backrolls Nia for 2. Tiff distracts Bay. Nia 2nd rope samoan drops Bay. Nia then banzai drops her and gets the pin.

Thoughts:
Nia had 2 sloppy moments here but it was pretty good otherwise. Nia did a good job of punishing Bay as the bigger wrestler. The Tiffany Stratton stuff wasn't really needed and didn't help the match out though it did further the Tiff/Nia dissent storyline.

We get an ad for a new DBZ game with Xavier Woods playing it

X-Pac, Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson are at ringside.

Finn Balor vs. Damian Priest

Finn came out with a head covering mask on with a white line on it and has black face paint on one of his eyes. They stare down and DP forearms Finn down. DP rams him into the corner and pounds on him. DP pops him up and flapjacks him. Finn is thrown into the buckles. DP high kicks Finn off the apron. DP takes a slingblade on the floor.

Finn stomps on DP. Finn rakes the eyes and chinlocks him. DP rams Finn in the corner. Finn comes off the buckles and takes a forearm. Finn russian legsweeps him. Finn hits knees to the gut. Finn abdominal stretches him.

They trade shots. DP hits kicks then forearms Finn down. DP flying back elbows Finn then hits a broken arrow for 2. Finn slindblades him then DP does corkscrew kicks. DP running lariats him. DP misses a kick and takes an overhead kick.

Finn is given a chair. DP kicks it into him and fends off Carlito and JD. Finn rolls DP up for 2 then elbow slices him. Finn comes off the top and takes a south of heaven. Dp then picks up the win.

Thoughts:
It just wasn't the epic it should have been. They didn't get to do anything too crazy when they needed to have a bloody Punk/Drew match to really fit the feud. Priest is not over as the top babyface character they want him to be and this feud isn't really helping out either guy much at this point. I'd like to say this is going to be the end of it, but they probably do need a proper stipulation to end it for good. These two are not top tier main eventers and they were not going to produce a top tier main event.

Triple H comes out for an announcement with what appears to be a title on a podium. He talks about the attendance and talks about Crown Jewel. Triple H says the champions of each brand will fight at Crown Jewel, but neither title will be on the line. He says the winner will be the Crown Jewel champion. They show off the belt and it's pretty tall that is green and gold with a black strap.

Gunther comes out. He says he's going to win the title. Gunther says he will defend his title on Monday against Sami. Gunther says people like Sami aren't cut out to be the top guy. Gunther says he's a future legend and talks about the legends we've seen in the crowd. The chants for Goldberg and Gunther mentions him.

Gunther says it's not true that Goldberg was his childhood hero. He says how can the greatest wrestler on eearth be impressed with a one trick pony like him. Gunther says he hopes Goldberg is a better father than he is a pro wrestler.

Goldberg takes his hat off and jumps the rail. Gunther tells him to come on and security (and Adam Pearce) try to stop Goldberg. Sami Zayn then comes out and beats up on Gunther. Sami planchas him then hits mounted shots outside as people try to pull him off. Triple H then raises Goldberg's hand in the air as the crowd chants for Goldberg.

Golderg and Corey Graves almost get into it as Goldberg goes back into the crowd.

Thoughts:
It was a nice little segment to build up on Gunther bringing up Goldberg a while back against Bret Hart. I wouldn't be shocked if we get a Gunther vs Goldberg match at some point which would be fun.

DDP, Mickie James and Scott Steiner are shown in the crowd. I'd say I'm surprised at all these legends being in the area but Georgia was a big hub for wrestling up until WCW closed.

Metro Boomin, Jade, Bianca and Naomi are in the party lounge and are interviewed. Metro said he told Cody to handle his business tonight. Everyone complains about a smell then Chelsea Green and Piper Niven walk in. Bianca tells her she stinks and needs to take a shower. Green says she didn't want to be here anyway. Bianca says Piper doesn't have to leave and Piper says she will stay.

WWE Women's World Title Match - Dominik Mysterio is in a shark cage above the ring - Liv Morgan (c) vs. Rhea Ripley

They get back in and Rhea northern lights suplexes her.  Liv pounds on Rhea outside. Liv bangs Rhea's leg off the apron and pulls it against the post. Rhea is thrown into the rails. Liv diving sunset bombs her into the rails. Liv diving codebreakers her from the 2nd rope for 2.

Liv hits a crucifix bomb. Liv slaps her around. Liv hits three amigos then Rhea hits a razor's edge. Dom somehow gets the shark cage door open. Rhea hits a top rope splash.

Rhea sends Liv into the rails then hits riptide on her on the floor. Dom tries to get out of the cage and ends up hanging from it feet first via a chain. Rhea tells the ref to wait one minute as she has unfinished business with Dom and the official just says okay.

Dom hangs from the cage and Rhea hits him with a kendo stick like a pinata. Raquel Rodiguez comes out and hits Rhea from behind. The ref stops it and Dom is pulled down. Raquel slams down Rhea and puts Liv on top of her for the pin but the bell rang and Rhea has won by DQ.

Thoughts:
The ending wasn't too good here and it died. I didn't like the ref openly breaking the rules with Rhea. The match made sense for the most part with Rhea throwing around Liv and Liv going for the leg but this thing has been going on for too long to end this way. Raquel coming back was not a real exciting moment either. She's just not a top girl and she always seemed to be pushed at a level that crowd engagement doesn't match.

Cody Rhodes & Roman Reigns vs. The Bloodline (Jacob Fatu & Solo Sikoa)

Cody had a marching band and dancers for his entrance. Roman had a symphony for his entrance.

Fatu and Cody start us off. Cody punches him from below. Fatu no sells a disaster kick. The four stare down. Roman and Solo fight after stalling. Roman hits boots and punches. Roman hits solo punches on Solo.

Solo hits some shots on a downed Roman then Roman back elbows him. Solo goes out and Fatu gets in. Solo nails Roman from behind. Solo abuses Roman on the ropes and Fatu headbutts Roman.

Solo uranages Cody on the apron. Cody is abused on the ropes and takes a boot from Fatu on the ropes. Cody gets his legs split. Fatu trap holds Cody. Cody takes hip attacks from both opponents in the corner. Cody fights off Fatu and Solo. He goes for the tag and Fatu pulls Roman off the apron.

Solo splashes and short arm lariats Cody for 2. Fatu slams Cody. Cody gets his knees up on Fatu's swanton. Roman gets the hot tag in. Roman beats up Solo and hits a big boot. He then hits mounted shots. Roman crucifixes Solo when he goes for the samoan spike. Roman superman punches Solo for 2.

Roman gets grabbed by Fatu in the corner then Fatu superkicks Roman. Roman takes a double superkick. Fatu double jump moonsaults Roman then Solo top rope splashes Roman for 2. Fatu is sent into the steps by Cody outside. Fatu superkicks Cody then misses a charge and goes through the timekeeper's rail.

Fat throws chairs in and has his head banged off one. Cody hits cross rhodes on the floor. Cody superkicks Fatu. Fatu is laying on the commentary table and Cody top rope splashes him through it.

Solo and Roman trade punches. Solo superkicks him and takes a superman punch. Tama Tonga and Loa come out. Roman gets distracted and Solo spears him. Solo says Roman lied to him. Solo spots someone in a hood and bandana at ringside. It turns out to be Jimmy Uso and he superkicks Tama and Loa.

Roman spears Solo and gets the win.

Jimmy and Roman hug after. Roman and Jimmy leave and Tama/Loa/Solo jump Cody. Jimmy wants to leave but says he's with Roman. They then go to save Cody. The heels take superkicks and Solo takes a superman punch.

Roman gets hold of the title and gives it to Cody. They stare down then The Rock's music hits. The Rock still has the fake title with him that he had. Bloodline are shown retreating into the stands. Rock stares at Cody, Jimmy and Roman and raises his eye brow. He then holds up 3 fingers and his music plays again. What that means, I have no idea.

Thoughts:
It was a decent tag and was rather by the numbers. I didn't really like Solo losing clean. It definitely makes him lose some heat and it really begs the question of why this thing needs to continue. The faces got their revenge and that really should be the end of it. They are going to have to do some kind of angle now to get the heels their heat back and I don't know what it is. It would have been better if Solo got the win by cheating or if they just went to a no contest of some sort in order to continue this.

Jimmy Uso is in the mix again but Roman and Cody just beat Solo's crew mostly clean so I don't really see why they need him.

I don't have a lot of thoughts on Rock coming back. We didn't really learn anything new and it's not clear exactly where he stands. I could make the case that he's replacing Cody and teaming with Roman and Jimmy to fight Bloodline or I could make the case that he's teaming with Bloodline against Roman, Jimmy and Cody.

Overall thoughts: It wasn't the greatest show ever. None of the matches were bad but there was interference in every match. They put out a good effort in Punk/Drew but it wasn't a classic. I liked Nia/Bayley. Priest/Finn wasn't bad but I didn't expect it to be that good and it wasn't. Liv/Rhea had a bad and underwhelming finish though the match made sense otherwise. The main was okay but they were not trying to have a classic here. The Rock is back but we didn't learn anything new and we'll have to see where things go from here. I'd probably give it about a 6 or 7 out of 10 overall but it could have been a 10.
