We are in Portland, OR. Wade Barrett and Jose Tessitore are on commentary. 

We see various wrestlers arriving and hanging out.

Randy Orton comes out. He said he thought about the Mania's he performed in and there were 20 of them. He said he only main evented twice. He says there's no guarantees about Mania but says he's going back to the main event of Mania. 

He says his peers put him over as one of the best. He says he's proud to be seen as one of the best and says he earned it. He says he doesn't know who his opponent for Mania is but he's not leaving Vegas empty handed. He says he plans on accomplishing that with the RKO.

The lights go out and Trick Williams comes out. Trick says he has voices in his head and they tell him he has a bone to pick with him. Trick says he should be in the main event getting the title shot. Trick says he has a problem with Orton saying he's not 6'5. Trick says he's eye to eye with him and it's not due to his shoes. Orton then RKO's him. 

We see footage of Carmelo Hayes talking to Nick Aldis earlier. Nick says he's been a fighting champ and he's been doing a good job. Nick says he's got requests coming in from all over the world for him. Melo says don't tell him who he is and he'll see him out there.   

WWE United States Title - Carmelo Hayes (c) vs El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr.

This is an open challenge. Doc does an inset. He says the most beautiful has has arrive in WWE. He says he is the AA Latin champ and we see some clips of him.

Doc shotgun dropkicks him then corner cannonballs him. Doc enzugiri's him on the apron then cannonballs him off the apron. Doc slams him and top rope dropkicks him for 2. Melo rolls over his back and dropkicks him. Melo cradles him for 2. They botch a spot and Melo just flops in mid-air. Melo hits leg kicks then springboard blind legdrops him while he's on the 2nd rope. We go to PiP break and return.

Doc superplexes him for 2. They trade shots. Melo step up enzugiri's him then Doc lariats him. Melo springboard twisting lariats him. Melo hits chops and la mistica drops him for 2. Doc blocks a first 48 and powerbombs him for 2. Melo superkicks him then takes a spinning forearm. Doc boots him out of the corner, comes off the buckles and is hit with a first 48 for 2. 

Doc hits a step up knee in the corner then spinning electric chair sitout bombs him. Doc misses a top rope moonsault and Melo does a nothing but net (top rope diving guillotine legdrop on the neck) and pins him.

Thoughts: Doc isn't one of my favorites. He's not small so he doesn't fly a lot, his mask blocks off a lot of his face so some the charisma is missing and and the best thing about him is his bloodline. The match was fine enough and Melo won as expected. Melo did some with him a little better than I thought. 

Ilja Dragunov is interviewed about refusing a title shot. He says he's been losing and doesn't deserve the shot. He says others might accept it but he's not like that. He credits his mother and says when he is called a warrior, it means carrying the burden of being her son. He says he will wait until he becomes that warrior again.

The Miz comes in and complains about him deciding to wait. Miz says you need to seize the opportunity Kit Wilson comes in and says Ilja has become toxic. Ilja says they should step in the ring to solve this.

Damian Priest talks to Nick Aldis and asks who he's facing tonight. R-Truth walks in with a bald head. He says DP is in big trouble and says he is too. Nick says they are teaming up in tag team turmoil. DP says winning tag titles sounds good and he agrees.

Drew McIntyre walks in. Drew tells him to make this right. He said Cody lost The Rumble and The Chamber and doesn't get his shot. Nick says Drew promised to stay out of things and he didn't so he's not keeping his word. Drew tells him to defend his title tonight unless he wants to forfeit it. Drew says the only way you are taking his title is to pull it from his dead hands.

We get a celebration for Nia Jax and Lash Legend's tag title win. They are now called, "The Irresistible Forces". Nia says to take a good look at 2 6-foot thoroughbred stallions. Nia says they have the division on lock and say any and all challengers are welcome. Lash says they are here and aren't going anywhere.

Lash says they need to have a toast and they do while holding the titles up. Fireworks then shoots off. Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss come out. Bliss says Nia found a coat tail to ride to the top. Bliss says they lost the titles as they interfered. They come in to challenge them. Giulia and Kiana James come out. Kiana asks if they have memory issues as she beat Nia and Flair in a triple threat. Kiana also says she pinned Bliss in the Chamber. She says they plan on going to Mania one way or the other. Giulia talks in Japanese. She says they will walk into Vegas with the tag titles. Nick Aldis walks out. He says we figure out who gets a title shot with action and sets a match up for right now.

Winners get a tag title shot - Kiana James and Giulia vs Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair

G = Giulia

We join this in progress. Bliss shoulder throws G. Flair lifts Bliss into a doublt boot on G. Flair shoulders KJ over. Flair boots the heels from the apron. Flair cannonballs the heels off the apron outside. Flair is sent into the post. KJ stomps and elbows Flair for 2.

KJ hits corner spears on Flair. KJ standing moonsaults and Flair gets her knees up. They kick each other in the face and both fall down together. Bliss shoulders over G and dropkicks her. Bliss basement dropkicks her then rolling sentons her for 2.

G sunset flips Bliss and Bliss rolls into a basement dropkick on her. Bliss pushes her out. Bliss is dropped face first on the apron by KJ then G facekicks G outside. We go to PiP break and return. Flair fallaway slams G onto KJ.

Flair top rope moonsaults both opponents for 2 counts. Flair superkicks KJ. Flair takes a codebreaker then G backdrops Flair for 2. Flair germans G. Bliss spinning ddt's KJ. Flair hits natural selection on G and pins her.

Thoughts: It was okay enough. Flair's definitely slowed down a bit and is taking things a little easier. This worked out better than it should of but it was nothing too memorable.

Jelly Roll congratulates Randy Orton for winning The Chamber. He says he's coming around next week to see Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton. He says to get Drew because he hates him. 

Cody Rhodes is interviewed. Cody says Drew is the only obstacle that remains and hopes the next time the interview speaks to him, she will speak to the champ.

Sami Zayn comes up to Cody. He says it's crazy that this match is happening. Cody asks what's crazy about it. Sami says Cody beat him to qualify for The Chamber and he let it go. He says Cody lost in The Chamber and the point is the winner gets a shot. He says Cody lost but he's getting the shot. He says everything fell into his lap and he gets the 2nd chance but Sami doesn't. Cody says Sami is politicking for a title shot at him and he hasn't won it yet. Sami asks if Cody thinks he's being self-serving and if he's trying to snake his way into the title. Cody says he doesn't know and Sami doesn't either. Sami said he came here to say good luck. He says he wants what's best for him and is rooting for him. He tells him to go do what he does and become champ again. Cody says okay. Sami then knocks bottles over and yells.

#1 Contenders Tag Team Turmoil

Leg 1 - The Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley) vs Fraxiom (Axiom and Nathan Frazer)

NF side headlocks Alex. NF flips out of a wristlock and they reverse wristlocks on each other. NF cartwheels out of a wristlock and is double chopped. NF dropkicks him. Sabin shoulders over NF.

Ax gets in Sabin gets a 2 count on him. Sabin trips him into a pin attempt. Sabin is pulled down off the leapfrog. Ax half-tiger suplexes him. NF comes in and enzugiri's Alex. Alex takes a low ddt then Ax is lifted into a dropkick on Sabin. NF topes Sabin and Ax topes Alex. Ax's team hits more topes. 

We go to break and return. NF springboard double dropkicks his opponents and tope con hilos both. NF flying knees Sabin. NF is held for a basement dropkick. NF rolls up Sabin for 2. Sabin takes a top rope dropkick + legsweep. Alex puts Sabin's foot on the ropes but the ref counts the pin and The Guns are eliminated. 

Leg 2 - Fraxiom (Axiom and Nathan Frazer) vs Los Garza (Berto and Angel)

Berto stomps on NF in the corner. Berto goes up and over then sitout bombs NF for 2. NF takes a double team drop backwards. NF superkicks Berto. Angel pop up kicks NF for 2. 

Ax top rope superplexes Angel. Berto breaks up a pin. NF headscissors Berto out off the up and over. NF is pushed off the top into the rails. Ax takes a top rope facebuster. Ax is double gorilla pressed and dropped backwards. Axiom is pinned.

Leg 3 - Los Garza (Berto and Angel) vs The Wyatt Sicks (Dexter Lumis and Joe Gacy)

This started during the break. Dex is pulled up and his face is banged off the apron. Berto single leg crabs Dex. Dex takes a corner splash then a powerbomb + headbuster for 2.  Joe tags in and he hits shots on Los Garza. Joe pump kicks them then spinning lariats Angel. Joe backdrops Berto for 2. Berto takes a double superkick. Tanga Loa comes out and pulls out Joe. Tama Tonga comes out and Berto pins Dex by pulling the tights.

Leg 4 - Los Garza (Berto and Angel) vs Damian Priest and R-Truth

We go to PiP break and return. DP lifting flatliners Angel. DP pounces Angel into the commentary table. Berto topes DP into the table. Berto springboard enzugiri's DP. Berto top rope moonsaults DP for 2. DP hits a broken arrow. RT comes in and hits flying shoulders on Berto. He blue thunders him then does the five knuckle shuffle. RT trips Berto and does the STFU. The faces hit stereo ear clips. DP hits a south of heaven while RT AA's Angel. DP and RT pick up stereo pins to win.

Thoughts: It was obvious DP and Truth were winning here as this is below what Priest has been doing. It had the usual issues that gauntlets have with us only getting a little of a bunch of things and not much of anything. The first leg was the longest leg of this. This was alright in total but it was mostly filler.

Sami Zayn goes up to Randy Orton. He says he's happy for him. He says Cody qualified for The Chamber because Drew got involved. He says Sami did the same thing to Cody in The Chamber and asks how he does it. He says he talks about Cody as one of the best then drops him when he turns his back. Orton says you gotta be selfish sometimes. Sami asks if it makes him a bad person. Orton says it makes him a 14x champ. Sami says he can't argue with that and says good luck. Orton says he believes in him and says he needs to believe in himself. He says he could have gold around his waist. He tells him to maybe try listening to the voices.

Zelina Vega and Aleister Black go up to Sami. They say not to worry about him, it's the nature of the beast.

Rhea Ripley comes out. She says since Jade has a lot to say to her, come say it to her face. Jade Cargill comes out. They shake hands. Jade says she respects her but she's not impressed. She says her arms and legs are more powerful than hers. She says she will beat the hell out of her and there's nothing she can do because she's that b!tch. Rhea says she respects the honesty and Jade impresses her physically. She asks if Jade thinks she will stay down if she hits her with her best shot. Rhea says no. She says if she hits her with hers, she won't get back up. She says Jade's body is built for show and hers is built for fighting.

Rhea says Jade can flex but Rhea can fight. She says she will take her title by force and there's nothing Jade can do about it. She says there's nothing Jade can do about it because she's that b!tch.

Thoughts: It was a bit of a weird segment with both girls talking about who had the bigger legs and shoulders. The girls do not usually argue about that stuff.

Alex Shelley and Candice LeRae talk about Johnny Gargano, who is still laying on the box. Sabin comes in and complains about Alex coming back to console Johnny and asks why he didn't break up the pin. Alex says he did and they go to argue. LeRae says her and Johnny can't do this and he needs to go back to being Johnny Wrestling, who can do it himself. Johnny says she's right and says they are going to the ring.

The Wyatt Sicks do a video. Howdy says Solo is putting his family in bad positions without thinking of the consequences. He says he won't rest until the lantern is returned to him. He says his family will keep looking over their shoulders and learn there is nothing left to do but run.

Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae are in the ring. JG says it's time who he and everyone else remembers who he is. He says he needs to be Johnny Wrestling again and it starts tonight. He invites anyone to come face him in the ring now.

Oba Femi vs Johnny Gargano

JG jumps at him and Oba grabs him. JG forearms him then is chopped down. Oba hits running euros in the corner. Oba throws him then pop-up sitdown powerbombs him for the win.

Thoughts: It was all squash as expected here and not much more.

Michin stops Jade Cargill in the back with B-Fab. She asks if she forgot her. Jade says she's just been busy. Jade asks why she let Rhea cut her in line. She says Rhea earned her spot. She says when she gets her spot and takes the title, she will worry about herself. Jade says she will see her next week.

Nick Aldis and Danhausen talk in the back. Dan asks about his demands and asks about finding him a mentor. Nick then finds The Miz. Nick says it's fantastic that Miz is trying to shape the future stars of WWE. He says he has someone to mentor and tells him to mentor Danhausen. Miz calls him a goth kid that nobody invited to the party. Dan says he's perfect for this. Miz says he won't mentor him and Dan says he will. Dan says he's cursed if he doesn't mentor him and says to remember what happened to Dom on Monday.

Thoughts: I've never been a big fan of Danhausen but they are making this work well so far. I think he's going to make it in WWE if they keep this up.

We get a video on Cody vs Drew.

Undisputed WWE Title - Drew McIntyre (c) vs Cody Rhodes

Drew slides out and walks up the aisle. Cody hits him and sends him into the tron. Drew's head is banged off the rails. Cody punches and chops him. Cody punches Drew outside and hits him with a drink. Drew hits punches on chops on Cody inside. Cody drop down punches him then disaster kicks him.

Cody hits mounted corner punches. Cody is kicked on the up and over. Drew overhead belly to belly suplexes him twice. Drew's head is banged off the steps. Cody goes for a tope and is forearmed. Cody's head is banged off the steps. Cody is pushed backwards into the post and side slammed on the apron.

Cody hits shots to the gut and Drew back elbows him for 2. Drew suplexes him and armlocks him. They trade punches. Cody goes up and over and powerslams him. Cody hits a cody cutter. Drew slides out of a cross rhodes. 

Cody is pulled shoulder first into the post and his hand is banged off the post. Drew wraps Cody's arm around the bottom rope. Drew single arm ddt's him for 2. Cody hits shots on Drew and Drew codebreakers the arm. Drew stomps Cody's arm into the mat.

They fight on the buckles. Cody superplexes him. Cody figure fours him. Cody topes Drew outside. Cody clears off the commentator and puts Drew on it. The desk collapses while both are on it. Drew eye rakes him and powerbombs him through a table. Drew hits a cross rhodes on Cody for 2. Cody superkicks him then claymore kicks him for 2. 

Drew is nearly sent into the ref. Drew pulls the ref into Cody's disaster kick. Drew back body drops him. Cody boots him out of the corner. Cody hits a cross rhodes. Another ref comes out. Drew claymore kicks Cody when he's not looking and gets a 2 count. 

Drew gets in the ref's face and sends Cody shoulder first into the post. Drew headbutts the ref. Drew grabs a chair. Jacob Fatu comes out and takes the chair. Cody rolls Drew up for 2 and takes a future shock ddt.

Drew misses a claymore kick. Cody walks up the buckles and diving cutters Drew. Cody hits a cross rhodes on Drew and pins him.

Thoughts: Cody got the win as expected here. It was fine as a main but not quite a classic. Drew worked the arm early and gave up on it then Cody did his usual offense. They had a commentary table collapse on them when it wasn't supposed to and Fatu came out to cost Drew the match. 

They announce Cody vs Orton for the title at Mania after but I'm not convinced that's going to be the match.

Overall thoughts: It was a good show with some decent wrestling on it. Melo/Wagner beat expectations and they did alright together. The girls tag match was okay enough. Sami had another great segment with Cody. Tag team turmoil was alright but it was four shorter tags and we only got a little of the various matches before the finishes. We got a fun Danhausen segment with Miz. The main was fine and Cody won as expected, but I'm not buying that the Mania main will be Orton vs Cody in a singles match. I'd give the show a 6 out of 10 overall. It was maybe one really good match short of being a 7 out of 10.
