WWE Evolve 3/18/2026
Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2026/03/wwe-evolve-3112026.html
We are at the Performance Center. Peter Rosenberg and Blake Howard are on commentary.
The Vanity Project talk. They say they came here and shook the place. Brad says Drake knocked down every challenger who stepped up to him. Drake says they even took over NXT. Drake says he's the first, only and longest reigning champ. He says he will give Timothy Thatcher his final evaluation when he embarrasses Aaron Rourke.
Kam Hendrix vs Dante Chen
They lock up. Kam backs him up in the corner and armdrags him. Kam armlocks him. DC avoids an armdrag then does Kam's pose. DC hits 10 armdrags in a row and sends him out. Kam punches DC outside and sends him into the post.
Kam stomps him and hits kicks and kneelifts. Kam hits corner lariats then rolls into a lariat on him for 2. Kam chinlocks him. DC germans him. DC pump kicks and lariats him. DC euros him on the ropes and superkicks him. DC lariats Kam over the top then topes him outside.
DC springboard head chops him. Harley Riggins comes in and takes a double chop. Kam hits a showtime kick then backdrops him into a uranage to win.
Thoughts: It was a pretty smooth moving match here and it was fine as expected. I think Chen set a record for armdrags here as he hit 10 in a row on Kam at one point. Kam's showtime kick looked good. Kam got the win as expected and should be on his way to the Evolve Title.
Kam and Riggins mock Tate Wilder after, saying he's scared. They say they will break him and tell him to cry in the parking lot.
Timothy Thatcher is in his office messing around with a light. He says new talent has been found from North America and Europe. He says we have will have a special where new prospects debut in 2 weeks.
It's GAL comes in and calls him a dummy. Tim throws a paper ball at him. Gal asks what about him. Tim asks if he wants attention. Tim says he can be on the Evolve special in 2 weeks. He then tells him to see himself out. Tim says he needs a lock for that door.
Thoughts: New wrestlers debuting is exciting. This likely will have the debut of Mike Del Vecchio or Zozaya. Tim was entertaining here and did well in this. He might just pull this off after all...
Braxton Cole is reading Aristotle and says intellect is what makes him different than the deadweight around here. He says he's the epitome of privilege. He says hes a top of the class graduate and all league defensive player. He says he's the brains and the brawn. He says we will all see why he he's straight A's in every way. He then tells us to be gone.
Laynie Luck vs Zena Sterling
Zena is skipping around on her way to the ring and seems to be in a good mood.
They lock up and Zena side headlocks her. Zena snapmares her and Luck snapmares her back. Zena does another and rolls her with a cravate. They sweep each other and Luck backrolls her. They shoulder block each other.
Zena wristlocks her then throws her down into an armlock. Zena shoulders her over and dances. Zena does fireman's carry takeovers. Luck misses a charge and is backrolled for 2. Luck upkicks Zena. Luck hits knees to the gut then codebreakers her over the middle rope.
Luck double stomps her on the apron. Luck then does a low springboard crossbody. Luck does a grounded abdominal stretch variation. Zena backdrops her. They trade shots. Zena hits chops then reverse ddt's her for 2. Luck spin kicks her in the gut and death valley drivers her for the win.
Thoughts: I'm surprised to see Zena lose here since she was so hyped up on LFG. This was fine. Zena had a good showing and the two worked alright together. There wasn't much of a story or anything but there weren't any botches.
Mike Cunningham goes up to Lince Dorado outside. He says it's sick to train with him in the PC. He says he grew up watching him. He says he's lucha lit and is just throwing a mask on. Lince says there's more than that and he's gotta learn. Mike challenges him to a match and says it'll be a good learning experience. Lince says he will teach him a lesson now - he says he won't be the main man, but the next man when they fight.
Cappuccino Jones comes out. He says the pot is hot and says it'll be a crazy rush when Aaron Rourke walks out with the title tonight. Cap says Aaron has all their support. He says he's calling Brooks Jensen out. He says Brooks can remember matches from the 80's and 90's but can't remember him beating him in the gauntlet. He says Brooks keeps bringing up how he beat him when he had an arm tied behind back. Cap says this is personal and this is about him whooping his @ss.
Brooks Jensen comes out. Brooks says Cap made the biggest mistake of his life by making it personal with the bad man from Ala-bam-bam-bama. He says he didn't just call him out, he ended his own career.
Chuey Martinez interviews Luca Crucafino who looks different. He does a handshake with Chuey and gives him a bracelet. He says people evolved here and shined in the bright lights of NXT. He say he will loop it all back as the crowd comes with him as he cruises through Evolve. He talks more Superstar Billy Graham jive and says it's all PLUR - Peace, Love, Unity and Respect. He says it's the staple of the rave community and says we don't have that in Evolve. He says we need someone to shine in the light and he thinks he knows who can figure it out. He says wait for the beat to drop and they dance.
Thoughts: Well, he seems comfortable doing his new character and that's usually a good start. We'll have to see how this new hippie raver gimmick goes, but this segment was better than last week's segment.
WWE Evolve Title - Jackson Drake (c) vs Aaron Rourke
This is Drake's last Evolve match. He will vacate the title if he wins here.
They lock up. AR wristlocks him. JD wristlocks him back. AR rolls out and rolls him up for 2. AR does another pin attempt and AR headscissors him into a roll-up. JD facekicks him. AR flips out of a backdrop and single leg dropkicks him. We go to break and return.
AR hits chops on JD. AR jawbreakers him and neckbreakers him. AR backrops him. Brad Baylor tries to trip AR. JD snapmares him and is put in a grounded headscissors. JD armlocks him then stomps on the back. JD kneedrops him for 2.
JD russian legsweps him then bulldog chokes him. JD boots him out of the corner. JD double stomps AR's back then fisherman busters him for 2. AR is sent head first into the 2nd buckle. JD stands on the 2nd buckle and AR 619's hits legs. AR lariats him and leg lariats him. AR slides out of a lariat and superkicks him. AR germans him.
JD back elbows him. AR handstand hurricanrana's him on the buckles. AR hits a soul foot for 2. JD germans him in the corner. AR corner uranage's him. AR 2nd rope twisting elbow drops him for 2.
They chop each other on the apron. JD suplexes him off the apron to the floor. We go to break and return. JD hits kicks to the chest. AR upkicks him then does a half-crab. AR stomps JD's back. JD does a tombstone onto his knee. JD PK's him for 2. AR sitout powerbombs him for 2.
The ref gets his on accident. AR high kicks JD. Swipe Right come in and hit a super swipe on AR for 2. AR back body drops JD onto his buddies outside. AR 2nd rope moonsaults them. JD kicks him in the head in the ring and burning hammers him. JD low flying knees him in the head for 2.
JD hits kicks out of the corner. JD comes off the 2nd rope and is lariated down. AR hits a top rope molly-go-round and pins JD.
Thoughts: Rourke winning was a big upset and definitely a bit random. I don't think it was built up that well and it's hard to understand why he got the title when people like Keanu, Kam, Harlem Lewis, Sean Legacy and others didn't. I expect him just to be a transitional champ. The match was a decent main but I didn't like the burning hammer being kicked out of. Drake lost but he has moved onto NXT and it makes no real difference for him going forward.
The roster comes out to congratulate Aaron. Mike holds the title up with him and the title goes flying. That's hinting towards something. Aaron is then put on the wrestlers shoulders and he poses.
Overall thoughts: We had 3 matches here. Kam/Chen was fine. Luck/Zena was better than I expected and that match may have been a best case scenario for their current skill levels. Aaron Rourke upset Jackson Drake in the main to become Evolve champ. The match an alright main but I don't see Rourke being a long term champ. Timothy Thatcher is doing a decent job in his role so far and we got news about a special in 2 weeks with brand new prospects debuting. I'd give this a 6 out of 10. It was an enjoyable show and it had a bit of a different feel to it with Thatcher being around and some others being gone.
