WWF Superstars of Wrestling 8/29/1992

Summerslam is today in the UK, but it won't air for 2 days in the US. You know business had to be in bad in the US for Vince to even consider that one.

We see clips from the Summerslam Spectacular to start with Warrior and Macho.

Vince McMahon appears and talks about Summerslam.

Ric Flair vs Joey Maggs

Ric backs him up in the corner and yells "woo". Joey shoulders him over, ducks a chop and hits dropkicks. Joey side headlock takeovers him. Ric chops him then throws him over the top to the floor. Perfect kicks Joey on the outside, Joey chases him then Ric hits Joey from behind.

Ric chops Joey outside. Ric hits chops and punches in the corner. Ric suplexes him. Ric then submits him with the figure four.

Thoughts: Ric won as expected here. Joey got a little in before going down at least but it was your usual squash.

The Ultimate Warrior does a promo. He talks about going face to face to him. He says there was a blurriness in Macho's vision that he did not understand. He says Macho then had already sold out. Warrior accuses Macho of paying Flair and Perfect to beat him up to convince Warrior he's not with them. Warrior said Macho sold his soul to the devil and said he will release all of his fury and rage. He says Macho will never be the same. 

The Macho Man does a promo. He accuses Warrior of selling out to Mr. Perfect. He says Warrior threw a punch at Flair that he didn't even think landed then said Perfect and Flair ran away from Warrior solely due to his presence, which he doesn't believe. He then accuses Warrior working with Perfect and Flair to set up the match with The Nasty Boys. He then says Warrior faked being beaten up by Flair and Perfect in that match. Savage says him and Warrior don't mix and won't mix at Wembley. He says he will be WWF champ at the end of the match.

Thoughts: I didn't like these promos. Wrestling is already fake and getting people to look to see if punches were faked and beatings were faked isn't a good idea. 

Tatanka vs Pat Rose

Pat gets hiptossed then dropkicked. Tat slams and armdrags him. Tat does an inset promo and says Berzerker would feel the power of his tomahawk chop at Summerslam.

Tat wristlocks Pat then back body drops him. Tat wristlocks him again then hits a stiff lariat. Tat slams Pat then chops him. Tat slams him twice. Tat hits a top rope chop on him. Tat then samoan drops him for the win.

Thoughts: It was all squash here and wasn't too much of note. Tat mostly stuck to chops and slams here. They pushed Berzeker vs Tatanka at Summerslam, but that won't actually air.

WWF Event Center

Rick Martel talks about an upcoming WWF European tour. He says he can't wait for the people to see him live and in living color. He says he will destroy whoever he wrestles.

El Matador says it doesn't get any better. He says the WWF is one of the hottest things around and says it only takes the support of the fans to make him kick it into high gear.

Kamala vs Jeff Daniels

Harvey Wippleman does the intro for Kamala as usual.

Kam chops Jeff, lifts him up by his throat and throws him down. Kam chops him then headbutts him. Kam then chokes him. Harvey Wippleman does an inset promo. He says Summerslam will be Taker's final match. He asks how it will feel when he's the one carried back in the body bag. He says Paul will have someone new in the urn and it's Taker.

Kam drops Jeff throat first on the top rope. Kam superkicks him, chops him and chokes him on the ropes. Kam then chokes him. Kam hits a double throat thrust and a splash. Kam tries to pin Jeff's back but then rolls him over and pins him.

Thoughts: It was a short one with Jeff getting nothing in. Kam won here as expected.

Kam tries to climb the top rope after but Kim Chee and Harvey block him.

WWF Event Center

Sean says the WWF with return to Europe this Autmumn with them going to Germany in September.

Money Inc does a promo. IRS says the tax cheats will get to see them in action. IRS says the action is all theirs. Ted says no matter where they go, you will see the greatest wrestling machine ever assembled. Ted says they formed a team to make money and says you make money by beating people up.

Vince and Perfect talk about Bret vs Bulldog. Perfect says Papa Shango has put a curse on Bret Hart. 

Bret Hart vs Louie Spicolli

Lou side headlocks Bret, slides through the legs and takes an atomic drop. Bret elbows him in the head and side headlocks him. Bret shoulders him over. Bret atomic drops him then flying lariats him.

Bret does an inset promo. He says hopefully the family will be united again after Summerslam but says he will have to live with him being IC champ. Bret hits an elbow drop then a suplex. Bret legdrops Lou then hits him in the gut. Bret russian legsweeps him then elbows him in the back of the head. Bret backbreakers him.

Bret 2nd rope elbow drops him. Bret then hits a slam and sharpshooters him for the win.

Thoughts: It was a brief squash here with Bret not doing much outside of his 5 moves of doom. This wasn't much of note.

Summerslam Report

Mean Gene Okerlund talks Summerslam. He talks Macho vs Warrior and then Kamala vs The Undertaker. Paul Bearer and Taker do a promo. Taker says what Kamala saw in his eyes was his future - a future in darkness.

The Legion of Doom do a promo with Rocco and Paul Ellering. Animal says there's nowhere to run or hide. He says it's either put up or shut up. Hawk says  Money Inc's teeth are going down their throat and says their fists are going out their sphincter.

Rick Martel vs Justin Taylor

Rick wristlocks him but JT reverses it. Rick leapfrogs and trips him. Rick then armlocks him. Rick waterwheel drops him then knee drops his arm. Ric armlocks him. Vince mocks Rick/Shawn having a "no hitting the face" rule.

Rick elbows JT in the arm then knees him as he charges in the corner. Sensational Sherri does an inset promo. She says she's so excited for Summerslam. She said both men promised not to hit each other in the face.

JT sunset flips Rick for 2. Rick slams JT then JT cradles him for 2. Rick lariats him then backbreakers him. Rick then submits him with the boston crab.

Thoughts: Justin got a little in before going down which usually happens in Martel squashes. Rick won here as expected in a short one.

WWF Event Center

The Repo Man does a promo on Crush. He says Crush is so big that when he stands in the sun, it gets dark. He says he does his best work in the dark and says he better be ready when there's a shadow at Summerslam. He says he will repossess his career.

The Natural Disasters do a promo. Quake says if The Bev's and The Genius aren't ready, it's too late. He says this is their chance at glory. Typhoon says they better be excited and prepared. Typhoon says they are prepared.

Vince and Perfect then close the show and shill Summerslam. Perfect says he's gonna say who's corner he will be in at Summerslam. Vince says time is running out on this show. Perfect stalls and the show ends before he says who.

Overall thoughts: This was all Summerslam hype and not much else and that was to be expected. It wasn't that interesting of a show though. There were no star vs star matches and there was no real news. This was all just filler and I wouldn't recommend it.
