WWE Monday Night Raw 1/5/2026

We are in Brooklyn, NY. Michael Cole and Corey Graves are on commentary. This is a rather loaded show and the main has been built up for several weeks.

They are doing a crossover with Stranger Things and have some items from the show there. Cole and Graves come out of a van.

We see various wrestlers arrive with orange filters around the video. 

Women's Tag Titles - The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane) (c) vs Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky

Asuka takes shots from Iyo to start. Iyo sweeps her and basement dropkicks her. Sane is sent out. RR cannonballs them from the apron. We go to break and return. Asuka pop-up knees RR. RR misses a cannonball off the apron then gets sent into the rails. Sane hanging headscissors RR over the top rope. Sane top rope diving forearms RR for 2.

RR takes a bulldog into a basement dropkick for 2. RR slaps Asuka and is thrown backwards. RR catches Sane off the top and fallaway slams her. Iyo comes in and hits shotei's on Asuka. She slingblades her. Graves brings up Hiroshi Tanahashi retiring. Iyo bangs Sane's arm over the top rope and top rope dropkicks the heels.

Iyo pulls Asuka's throat over the top rope. Iyo gets stuck up top and Sane top rope double knee drops her. We go to break and return. 

Iyo double stomps Sane. RR lariats Sane when she gets tagged in. She kicks Sane in the gut and drops her chest first on the mat. Sane low dropkicks her. Sane takes a stiff razor's edge. Iyo top rope dropkicks Sane for 2. Rhea hits riptide on Sane. Rhea is pushed into Iyo and Asuka codebreakers her. Asuka ankle locks RR and then germans her. 

RR takes a top rope elbow drop from Sane for 2. Iyo germans Sane. Asuka cradles Iyo for 2 then backslides her for 2. Iyo rolls Asuka into a double stomp. Iyo meteora's Asuka on the ropes. RR riptide's Asuka and Iyo top rope moonsaults Asuka. Iyo topes Sane. RR then pins Asuka.

Thoughts: It was a good match for the girls and okay overall. We had a lot of flying here and the work was a little better than what we get with the women usually. Sane took a nasty razor's edge here. I guess we get Rhea/Iyo vs Lash/Nia now but I wouldn't be shocked if we see a rematch of some sort.  

Adam Pearce congratulates Iyo and Rhea in the back. Gunther comes in. Adam tells him it's a big night and says there's a lot of eyes on him and the show. Adam tells him to speak from the heart but mix in respect. Gunther laughs.

Gunther comes out. We go to break and return. Gun says he's been asked by management to show a little respect. Gun says he made Cena tap out like a little....and then AJ Styles comes out. Gun says AJ is punching above his weight. Gun says they both know he's the greatest wrestler in the company right now. Gun says he made Cena tap out like a little b!tch. Gun asks what little AJ will do about it.

AJ slaps Gun and they butt heads. AJ says he won't do nothin'. AJ then drops the mic.  

Adam Pearce talks to Ivy Nile in the back. Ivy says she's not going to the back of the line. Adam says we have to get through tonight to get to the other side. Ivy says she's not going to the back of the line.

Gunther says he wants AJ to Pearce. AJ then comes in and challenges him. He asks if eh's gonna complain or stand there like a little b!tch. Gun says he wants him next week. Adam makes it official.

WWE Women's Intercontinental Title - Maxxine Dupri (c) vs Becky Lynch

I assume Max loses here. BL is wearing Star Trek inspired gear since she will be on the show.

BL grabs her by the arm and Max ropebreaks. Max backrolls her and goes for the ankle lock. BL backs her up in the corner and kicks her in the leg. Max thesz presses her and hits shots. Max pump kicks her on the floor. 

We go to break and return. Max boots her and both go down. They trade shots. Max hits lariats. Max fisherman suplexes her. Max pumping knees her. They blow a spot and Max spinning heel kicks her for 2. Max takes her down and ankle locks her. Max rolls her up for 2 and does another ankle lock. BL 2nd rope superplexes her and ddt's her for 2.

BL backdrops her for 2. Max germans her. Max top rope crossbodies her for 2. Max ankle locks her again. BL then grabs the ropes and pins her while in the hold.

Thoughts: It was maybe Max's longest match yet. She mostly did the right stuff here and focused on the ankle lock a lot. I thought it was mostly average and wasn't shocked to see Becky win. I assume this is the end of their feud.  

We get an Oba Femi video. 

Stephanie Vaquer walks in the back with a medical boot on and she walks past The Creed's.

We get some clips of WWE Unreal Season 2.

The Uso's come down into the crowd from the stands. Jey says they appreciate the war from Lee and AJ. Jimmy says that was last week and last year. Jey says 2026 is the year of The Uso's. Jey says it's the warning shot. They say they will be waiting for whoever wants to run up to them.

Stephanie Vaquer is interviewed in the ring. We are told she injured her ankle last week. She is asked what now? She says 2025 was amazing. She talks about titles and says she became WWE Women's champ. She talks in Spanish. She says the ankle injury won't stop her. Raquel Rodriguez hits her from behind and hits mounted shots. SV's injured ankle is banged off the mat. Raquel powerbombs her. Raquel grabs a chair and ref's come out. Adam Pearce, Helms and Daivari come out and stop her from pillmanizing the ankle.

Vaquer is being helped in the back. Raquel attacks her and throws her into boxes. Raquel stands on the ankle and Pearce threatens to fine her. He tells Helms to get her out of the building.

Rey Mysterio tells Dragon Lee that he came a long way and will be champ again. Lee says he has to see AJ. Penta comes in. Penta says he's sick of what The Vision has been doing on Raw. They talk in Spanish. Rey says he knew Penta would have his back and says Penta understands the honor or lucha. Penta says he will be there for him anytime he needs him.

Lyra Valkyria vs Liv Morgan

Liv side headlocks her and shoulders her over. Lyra goes up and over. She legsweeps her and basement dropkicks her. Lyra northern lights suplexes her then step up enzugiri's her. Lyra is pumping knee'd off the apron then booted out off it. Lyra is sent into the steps.

We go to break and return. Lyra kind of has a surfboard on her and tosses her. They double clothesline each other. They trade forearms. Lyra germans her then tornado ddt's her. Lyra fisherman suplexes her for 2. Liv pounds on her. Lyra takes a nasty looking ddt on her head.

Lyra hits kicks. Roxanne Perez pulls Lyra out. Perez then nails Bayley and throws her over the rails. Bayley grabs Perez and chases her to the back with a chair. Liv hits oblivion and Lyra is pinned.

Thoughts: Lyra kept bumping on her head here for some reason why didn't look safe. It wasn't anything special as breaks and interference took up a lot of this.

CM Punk is interviewed. Punk says everyone has an opinion. He says if he's the underdog, you underestimated him. He says Bron is going down with the GTS.

 Raw starts at 2PM EST next week.

World Title - CM Punk (c) vs Bron Breakker

Bron has Paul Heyman with him. Punk wore a high school letterman jacket that they said was based on The Steiner's old jackets.

Punk side headock takeovers Bron and goes back to the hold after a headscissors. Punk fireman's carry takeovers him. Bron hits knees to the gut and powerslams Punk off a leapfrog attempt. We go to break and return. 

Bron hits mounted corner punches and chokes him. Bron sends him chest first into the buckles then catapults him into the bottom rope throat first. Punk hits chops and forearms. Bron slams him. Bron overhead suplexes him. 

Punk headbutts Bron. Bron backdrops him for 2. Punk hits chops and forearms. Bron running knees him. Bron hits a fireman's carry gutbuster for 2. Bron throws Punk out. Bron runs around the ring and is hit with a lariat. 

They fight on the buckles. Bron walks up the buckles and slips on the hurricanrana, nearly falling on his head. Punk elbow drops him off the buckles for 2. Bro then tries the hurricanrana off the buckles again and hits it. Bron gorilla presses him and Punk ddt's him. 

They trade shots on their knees. Punk hits punches and leg lariats Bron. Punk swinging neckbreakers him. Punk step up knees him in the corner and short arm lariats him. Punk hits a top rope elbow drop. Paul Heyman gets on the apron and yells at Punk. Punk goes after him. The Vision come down. Punk hits them as they get on the apron. Punk is pushed into the ref and knocks the ref out of the ring. Theory curb stomps Punk. Bron gets a 2 count off of it.

The Vision clear off the commentary table. Dragon Lee, Penta and Rey Mysterio dive on the heels. Reed is ddt'd on the floor and they all fight to the back. Bron misses a corner spear. Punk hits a GTS for 2. Punk piledrivers Bron for 2.

Bron blocks a go to sleep with an armbar. Punk puts the anaconda vice on Bron. Bron gutbusters him and hits a hard lariat for 2. Bron goes for a GTS and Punk turns it into an STF. Heyman gets on the apron and Punk hits him with a punch. Bron goes for a spear but misses and goes out. Punk goes for a tope and Bron hits him hard. Punk lands hard on the floor.

Bron goes up top and dives on Punk through the commentary table. Bron goes for a flying spear in the ring and Punk knees him down. Punk hits a GTS and wins.

Thoughts: I thought it was average and not that good. Bron slipped on a top rope hurricanrana and almost hurt himself. Punk's tope got swatted down and he landed hard outside. There just wasn't a great story here and I feel like we missed some important stuff during the break. Bron lost but just being in this helps him, though it wasn't Bron's best showing.

Punk drops the title when he is given it on accident. Punk then poses on the ropes as Bron sits in the aisle.

Overall thoughts: 3 out of the 4 matches here were women's matches. There weren't a ton of new storyline advancements here. I would say the opener was the best match of the night but nothing was that great here. What we got out of this was acceptable but it was nowhere near the hyped up show it was supposed to be. I'd give this a low 6 out of 10 and wouldn't recommend it.
