WWE NXT 1/6/2026 New Years Evil 2026

WWE NXT 1/6/2026 New Years Evil 2026

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/12/nwa-powerrr-12302025.html

Vic Joseph and Booker T are on commentary. We are at the Performance Center.

The announcers talk on the riser. Vic says it's a year of opportunity. Booker says to be ready to answer when opportunity knocks. We see various wrestlers arrive and see the WrenQCC working out in a ring.

WWE Women's NXT Northern American Title - Thea Hail (c) vs Blake Monroe

Blake Monroe hits Thea from behind and sends her into the steps while she enters. BM grabs a chair and chairs her. Thea is sent into the rails. Officials block her from doing more. We then cut to the commentators. The match is seemingly either cancelled or delayed.

Ricky Saints comes out and walks past a down Thea Hail. He said he needed NXT when he came but NXT now needs him. He says Oba, Trick and Je'Von chose free agency as they knew they couldn't compete where they don't compare. He doesn't blame them at all. He says there's only room for one star and it's him. He says if you come at him, he will come at you. He says it's natural born stars vs stars they try to create. He says it's still 1-1 with him and Oba. He says no matter who wins, he says he will have the NXT Title and says that's absolute.

Ava tells Robert Stone to find Blake Monroe. She then gets on the headset and starts directing things.

Ava finds Blake in the back. She says she tried to help her last week and asks what that was. Blake says she asked for the glamour and with glamour comes hell. Blake says to get her the NXT Women's Title. Ava says she won't get a match for it and is banned from the building.

Tatum Paxley vs Izzi Dame

Izzi comes out alone. Izzi drops TP throat first on the ropes and hits forearms in the corner. TP chops and forearms her. Izzi kicks her in the gut and throws her. Izzi hits a corner spear. TP half crabs her while on the top rope. TP slaps her and hooks her leg.

TP bangs Izzi's head off the mat and enzugiri's her. Izzi hangs over the 2nd rope and TP flipping legdrops her. Izzi is pulled into the top rope and forearmed down from the apron. We go to break and return.

Izzi backbreakers her. Izzi catapults her into the ropes throat first. Izzi stronghold's her and TP ropebreaks. Izzi sits up top and TP enzugiri's her. TP superkicks her. TP does a top rope spanish fly.

They slap each other. TP bangs Izzi's head off her knee. TP hits forearms. TP high kicks her and germans her. Izzi facekicks TP. Izzi doctor bombs her for 2. Izzi lariats her. Izzi flips her on a backdrop for 2. Izzi spears her through the ropes and both take a nasty ride down to the floor. TP is sent into the steps.

TP koppo kicks her. TP top rope 450's her then does a tequila shot for the win.

Thoughts: It was okay but I didn't like the spanish fly not meaning anything. It got a lot of time and both of them took some bumps here. I'm not sure where Izzi goes from here.

We get a video on Aigle Blanc/Elio LeFleur. He says he put in 10 years of work and proved his value since he was 16 years old.  He said he put French wrestling on the map. He says The White Eagle is ready to fly from Paris to the US. He says he's coming to NXT.

Thoughts: I've seen a decent bit of Elio as he wrestled in All Japan. He's a spot monkey but he's taller and in shape. WWE signed him a bit ago along with Mike D Vecchio. My main concern is that if he's on this brand, NXT Europe probably isn't happening...again.

Ava talks to Thea Hail and Jordynne Grace in the back. Ava says she will delay the title match until she's 100%. Thea says hail no. Ava says she kicked Blake out of the building. Grace tells Ava to let her do it after Thea offers to bring back the open challenge. Ava agrees.

WWE NXT Women's Title - Jacy Jayne (c) vs Kendal Grey

KG takes her over and armlocks her. Jacy headscissors her. KG goes for an armbar and Jacy rope breaks. Jacy hits forearms. KG slides through the legs and dropkicks her out. KG the top rope moonsaults on her and Fatal Influence outside. Jacy throws KF into the rails then cannonballs her against them.

We go to break and return. Jacy takes down KG with a neckbreaker. Jacy knees her in the ribs for 2. Jacy superkicks her in the face. KG facekicks Jacy then 2nd rope twisting crossbodies her. They crossbody each other at the same time. They trade shots. Jacy superkicks her and step up enzugiri's her. KG headbutts her then hits back elbows. KG rebound germans her.

KG pulls her straps down. KG slingshot stomps her. KG ddt's her for 2. KG is crotched up top and Jacy bridging twisting neckbreaks her. Jacy hits mounted forearms. Jacy misses a corner cannonball. KG germans her twice. Jacy hits a hard pumping knee to the face for 2. KG tp rope overhead suplexes her. KG backrolls her for 2. KG armbars her. Lainey Reid pulls KG out and KG suplexes her on the floor. Wren knocks Fallon off the apron. KG rolling armbars Jacy.

KG superkicks her and Fallon blocks Jacy from getting a flatliner. Jacy spinning forearms KG and pins her.

Thoughts: KG was alright here and really focused on getting the armbar at the end. The heels cheated to get Jacy the win here. I don't like KG losing while being Evolve champ though. The work was fine and the match was okay.

Ava talks to Ethan Page in the back. Page talks about beating Moose. He said he had 12 title match victories last year. Page says he will finish his thoughts in the ring.

Page brings The Vanity Project in. Drake says he wants to talk 2026.

Thea Hail walks slowly in pain to the ring. She says she knows her win was controversial. She says she's devastated Blake attacked her like that as no one wanted the match as much as she did. She says she promised the crowd a WWE Title match and she will give them one. She says open challenges are open again and says the first one in the ring gets a shot. A bunch of girls come out. Tatum brings a chainsaw out then Izzi Dame comes and boots Thea.

WWE Women's NXT Northern American Title - Thea Hail (c) vs Izzi Dame

Spears tells them to ring the bell and Izzi stomps on Thea. She throws her and hits corner spears. Izzi hits like an F-5 variation for 2. Thea back elbows her and forearms her. Izzi slams her and blocks a sunset flip. Thea rolls her up for 2. Izzi powerslams her for 2.

We go to PiP break and return. Izzi chinlocks her. Thea hits shots to the gut. Izzi stomps her. TP ddt's her off a slam. Izzi hits sledgehammer shots and rolls her up for 2. Izzi slams her. Thea back springboards but Izzi gets her knees up. Izzi facekicks her for 2.

Thea exploders her. Izzi catches her on a tope attempt and chokeslams her on the commentary table. Izzi gets stuck up top. Izzi 2nd rope sky high's her and wins.

Thoughts: The match was average though it's not like they did anything wrong. Thea won the title by accident and they corrected the course here and got the title off of her. Credit to Izzi for working two longer matches in one night. Izzi's been around a while and hadn't really won anything so this is good for her but I would have rather seen Thea keep it.

Lola Vice is watching in the back. The Vanity Project go up to her and hit on her. Hank and Tank try to get them to go away. Lola says she needs to take care of Kelani Jordan. Kelani Jordan then comes in, throws a shoe at her and they fight.

Joe says he wants Dion Lennox in a No DQ match next week. Ava says if she sets up the match, it'll be a handicap match. Joe says he can bring some people to make sure it's him and Dion. Ava agrees to sign it if he can do that.

Ethan Page comes out to talk. He says he bagged himself a moose last week and set him home to TNA empty handed. Page says his title is the most prestigious title in WWE. He says he finds it funny that Oba is the world champ and only defends his title in one part of North America. Page says he has defended his title vs many wrestlers in many countries. He says that makes him an international icon.

Jasper Troy comes out. Troy says Page acts like he's the only champ that matters. Troy says in 2026, he wants to prove that he's not only the best big man in NXT, but is the monster of NXT. Troy gets in the ring. He said he ran through LFG like a bulldozer. He says his Speed Title might be the first title he holds this year but won't be his last.

Josh Briggs comes out. He says neither of them are on his level. Josh says he's the best big man in NXT. Josh says Page is delusional. Stacks comes out with Arianna Grace. He says him and Page got some unfinished business. He says he's the only person from NXT carrying TNA gold. He says he's as international as it gets as he's the TNA International champ. Stacks says he's as big as it gets with the title and his girl.

Shiloh Hill comes out. He says he's glad to see Stacks in a better mood than last time. He says maybe he ruined his Christmas. He says Santino and Ava had a conversation and it looks like his reign will end soon. Hill says it's him vs Stacks for the TNA International Title next week.

Tavion Heights comes out. He says it's a new year and we got new champs. He says Shiloh needs a little more of him. Tav says Troy will be flying air heights next week and he says he'll leave here as the Speed champ next time. Page says Tav dropped the ball. Tav tries to hit him and nails Troy. Everyone ends up fighting. Hill makes Grace dance with him and drops his fake tooth on her. Grace flips out and Stacks is sent out with her.

OTM and Joe Hendry talk. Joe asks if they can help him with Darkstate. Price says he never talked to them. Joe says they are bad@sses and understand it. Joe says if they get in the way of Darkstate, they are closer to the tag titles. Price says they will see him next week.

Fatal Influence talk to Sol and Zaria. Jacy says Sol won 2 awards but doesn't have 2 titles around her waist anymore. Sol says she isn't a double champ anymore. Sol says she's coming for her and the title. Jacy says she thought she was in a tag team.

Ethan Page walks past Myles Borne talking to Tate Wilder. Borne says he was staying out of that. Page says he knows who Tate is. He says if he wants to get here, he needs to shut up and learn a thing or two. Page says Borne stayed out of that situation a few minutes ago as it was for champs and challengers and he's neither. Tate tells Borne not to let him bother him and Borne says it's too late.

WWE NXT Title - Oba Femi (c) vs Leon Slater

Oba backs him up in the corner and throws him. Oba wristlocks him. LS rolls and is taken down by the arm. LS tries to kip up but is put down. Oba punches LS. Oba shoulders him over and elbows him on the neck.

Oba knocks him over with a hard chop then chinlocks him. LS rewind kicks him. Oba backbreakers him. Oba throws him hard in the corner and LS goes over the top to the outside. We go to PiP break and return.

LS flips out of a backdrop and codebreakers him. LS headscissors him out. Oba chops LS down on the apron. Oba hits knees to the gut. Oba knees the post when LS moves. LS leg kicks him. LS shoves him into the steps. LS top rope crossbodies him for 2. Oba flips him with a lariat inside and chokeslams him for 2.

Oba's leg gives out on him and LS does a leg lariat. LS slams him for 2. LS enzugiri's Oba off the apron then corkscrew dives him over the post. LS comes off the top and Oba gets his knees up. Oba gets a 2 count and LS gets a close nearfall on him.

LS superkicks him. Oba pop-up powerbombs him and wins.

Thoughts: They got this right here and it was a solid match. Leon flew around and went for the upset and Oba overpowered him. Leon lost as expected here.

Oba poses.

Ava talks to non-NXT wrestlers in the back. She says a lot of wrestlers have moved to Raw and SD and that opens up space for NXT call-up's. Stone comes in and asks if we saw what Oba just did. The NXT Title is left in the ring and Tony D'Angelo stares at it from the crowd. Oba has seemingly vacated the title as he will be moving up to the main roster.

Overall thoughts: It was definitely an important NXT with Oba seemingly vacating his title and Izzi Dame winning her first title. We had a ton of people appearing on the show as usual and they set some things up for next time. The main was the best thing on here. I didn't think there was anything must see though. It wasn't quite that different from a normal NXT. Next week should be an interesting episode. It's clear that we are going to see a big change of the guard this year, but that's what's fun about NXT - people come and go and no one gets too stale. I'd give this a 6 out of 10 overall as I thought they did a good job here.
