Andrade El Idolo vs Angelico

Idolo has Don Callis with him and Ang has Serpentico with him. Idolo back elbows him down to start. Idolo corner meteora's him for 2. Ang is moving slow. Idolo suplexes him. Ang up kicks him then rolls him up for 1. Idolo chops him in the corner. 

Idolo runs into Ang's boot then Idolo enzugiri's him while he's on the 2nd rope. Idolo superplexes him then holds on for 2 more suplexes. Ang pumping knees him. Idolo hits a spinning back elbow. Idolo double underhook twisting drops him and wins.

Thoughts: This was a weird one. It was incredibly slow and it's like Idolo knocked him out with when he did the back elbow as Ang never really picked up the pace after that.

Lexy interviews The Rascalz in the locker room. A bunch of smoke comes out of their room and Trey Miguel is not with them. Reed introduces the team. Dez says AEW is where the best wrestle and they have been the best faction in wrestling for a decade. He says it's only right that they are here. Wentz says to tell your family that The Rascalz are all elite. Reed says they came to take over and will smoke them all. They ask Lexy if she wants to join and she says she's working. 

Eddie Kingston and Ortiz vs The Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson and James Drake)

This is Ortiz's return after being out for a long time. Zack side headlocks Ortiz and Ortiz lariats him over the top. Ortiz step up enzugiri's JD then tope con hilos Zack through the ropes. Ortiz springboard facebusters JD off the bottom rope. Ortiz double jump twisting crossbodies JD.

JD takes a double suplex from the faces. Eddie stomps and punches JD. Eddie chops JD down. JD is held, Ortiz runs the ropes multiple times slowly and basement dropkicks JD for 1. JD eye rakes Eddie. Eddie takes corner attacks and a spinning heel kick from JD.

JD corner flying forearms Eddie then 2nd rope dropkicks him. Eddie lariats JD. Ortiz comes in and elbows Zack over. He then flapjacks him. Ortiz hits forearms on Zack. Ortiz takes a low dropkick to the head. Ortiz is held for a JD tope. 

We go to PiP break and return. Ortiz northern lights suplexes JD for 2. JD dragon screws Ortiz. Zack stomps on Ortiz. Ortiz hurricanrana's Zack. JD knees Ortiz in the gut. Ortiz dropkicks him. Eddie comes in. He hits punches on JD then chops him down. Eddie corner lariats him then hits machine gun chops on JD. Zack interrupts and is chopped. Eddie STO's JD then Ortiz pop-up sitout powerbombs JD for 2. 

The faces' double team is stopped. JD step up enzugiri's Eddie. Zack hits forearms on Eddie. Eddie chops him down. They trade forearms. Eddie exploders Zack. JD tries to coke Eddie with a towel but Eddie stops it. Zack 2nd rope diving codebreakers Eddie for 2. JD flatliners Eddie into the koji clutch. Ortiz lariats Zack over the top and goes with him. Eddie keeps his arm up in the hold then hits mounted shots on JD.

Eddie slap flurries JD and stomps him. JD backrolls Eddie for 2. Ortiz hits JD with a sock full of rocks and Eddie pins JD with a ddt.

Thoughts: It went on longer than I expected and they really did try to make it seem like The Vet's might win. It was acceptable but nothing too great. The Vet's lost as they seemingly always do on this show. 

We see a Harley/Kris/Willow interview from after Dynamite. Kris says she would take a bullet for either of them and says they are her 2 best friends. Kris says Thekla pinned the champ and asks what she wants to do about it. She says she hopes Thek's win will keep her going until they meet. Kris says Thek thinks toxic and she thinks she likes the taste.

Tony Schiavone interviews FTR and Stokeley Hathaway on the ramp. Stoke is in a wheelchair. He says he won't say something bad about The Don Callis Family ahead of their match. He says Doyle and Davis are #1 contenders to the tag titles. He says he's jealous as they have it all. He says they are pro wrestlers and he longs for the days where pro wrestlers looked like pro wrestlers. He says they have everything except for the ability to beat FTR. 

Cash says no one has the resume they have and no one can do what they do. Cash says Davis and Doyle are good but not FTR good. Dax asks Tony to ask him what he hates most about the people. Dax says it's that the people live in a fantasy world. He says when the people see something new and shiny, they think it's the greatest thing of all time. He says the people boost Doyle and Davis' ego's. Dax says the tag division is the one they built. He doesn't like that they got a shot because of one match. 

Dax says they saw people like them everyday in North Carolina and they were the norm. He says Doyle and Davis are in the midst of the greatest tag team of all time. He says they beg to be them but there's only one FTR. 

Thoughts: It was a long promo and this one didn't do much to hype me up for their match.

Cru talk in the back with their new member, Lacey Lane. They offered to give The Rascalz a welcoming to AEW that they won't forget.

We get a video on Zayda Steel. She says she was born to be in the ring and everyone will find out who she is. She says AEW has the best women's division and it just got real. She says Skyflight better get ready as they are about to take off.

Marina Shafir vs Zayda Steel

Ms gives her the finger and spits at her. Zay jumps on her and hits some shots. Zay dropkicks her then flying headscissors her. Zay topes her outside but MS catches her. MS misses a chop against the post. Zay chops her outside. MS front kicks her down inside.

We go to PiP break, full break and return. Zay back elbows her and codebreakers her. Zay step up knees her in the corner. MS uranage's her. MS hits chest forearms. MS ear claps her and does mother's milk to win.

Thoughts: I don't like Zayda losing like this in her first AEW TV match. They have Hyan and Maya World. They couldn't put her over either girl? That's just dumb. It was a quick one and nothing too special. Mox was on commentary for this.

Mox and Don Callis argue on commentary before the next match starts. Don brings up Takeshita beating Mox and Mox gets angry and gets up. Don leaves in fear. Lance Archer and Rocky Romero then jump Mox from behind. Mox is sent into the rails. The Death Riders come to help out and they all fight outside. Skyflight then come out and dive on everyone. We go to break and return with:

The Don Callis Family (El Clon, Josh Alexander & Kyle Fletcher) vs. SkyFlight (Dante Martin, Darius Martin & Scorpio Sky)

Darius bangs KF's arm on his shoulder. Sky 2nd rope double axe handles KF. Sky yanks on the arm. Dante 2nd rope double stomps KF.  Darius butt drops Kyle's arm off a leapfrog. 

Sky double axe handles KF's arm. KF slams him. Clon comes in and stomps Sky's arm into the mat. Josh and Sky trade forearms. Sky eye rakes him. Darius standing spanish flies Josh then topes KF outside. Darius bottom rope springboard flatliners Josh. 

Darius tornado ddt's Josh off of Dante. Darius is sent into Dante and Josh germans Darius. Clon corner lariats Darius and hits various corner strikes. KF michinoku drivers Darius. Clon top rope double stomps Darius. 

Clon back elbows Darius for 2. Darius hits chops on KF and KF flying back elbows him. We go to PiP break and return. Darius hits chops on Josh. Josh ankle locks him. Darius step up enzugiri's Josh. Darius suplexes KF. Dante comes in and hits lariats on Clon. Dante bottom rope dropkicks him. Dante springboard crossbodies Clon for 2.

Clon armdags Dante. Clone goes up and over him then pele kicks him. KF comes in. KF corner facekicks Dante. Sky pops up Dante into a ddt on KF. KF takes corner attacks then a double team double underhook ddt for 2. Josh drops Sky on the apron edge with a slam. Clon lariats Dante on the ramp then asai moonsaults him. Clon hits his knees hard on the ramp on it.

Darius forearms KF. KF suplexes him. Josh forearms Darius then ankle locks him. Josh crotches Darius up top. Josh hits a spinning torture rack drop on him. Josh hits a straightjacket piledriver on Darius and wins.

Thoughts: Skyteam lost as expected here. This was fine. Darius took a nasty piledriver to give up the fall and asai moonsault on the ramp was not a smart idea from Clon. I didn't see The Death Riders vs The Don Callis Family coming.

Konosuke Takeshita comes out after. He passes by Don and hugs Kyle Fletcher.

Roderick Strong and Orange Cassidy are interviewed. Rod says he will take Claudio's title and break his back since he just won #1 contendership to his CMLL title. OC tries to make friends with him. Mark Briscoe comes in and grabs Rod. He says Rod needs to hang around with them. Mark blames El Clon for injuring Hologram. He says Clon is nothing but a science fear experiment gone wrong. Mark challenges him for the TNT Title next week on Collision.

MJF does a video. He says his 2nd title reign will make his first reign seem smooth. We see clips of him defending his title at Limitless Wrestling last night.

Megan Bayne & Penelope Ford vs. Danielle Kamela & Viva Van

Meg flying lariats DK. She hits Viva on the apron then backdrops her in off the bottom rope. Meg corner splashes both opponents. Meg then does a fallaway slam + samoan drop combo on both. DK is put in the electric chair and hit with a doomsday device. DK is pinned.

Thoughts: It was a short squash here and not much more. Ford is back after being injured. 

Marina Shafir raises the heels' hands after. Toni Storm, Luther and Mina Shirakawa come out. Toni says Shafir can't behind those two. She says something that gets bleeped out. Mina says they didn't forget what they did to them. Mina says they won't stop until they make them pay. Toni says she will rip off Ford's arm and slap Meg with it. She says if Shafir wants a death ride, slop on her. She compares herself to God and Mina does Toni's line. Mina and Toni then dance and goof off.

Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana are interviewed. Lexy brings up Omega fighting Josh Alexander on Dynamite. Swerve is asked about his plan to get the title back. Swerve says the plan is to win. Kevin Knight comes in. He says he was thinking of what Swerve said to him and says he can't get past him saying the word "future" about him. He says all he keeps hearing is how he's the future but he says he's the here and now. Kevin says maybe it's time he is more of the present so people know the future is night. Swerve says it sounds like fighting words. Swerve tells him to win something of value and the trios title match tonight. Swerve says he's the future and a future main eventer. He tells him not to take 5-6 years to get there. 

AEW National Title #1 Contendership Match - Anthony Bowens vs. Jack Perry

Ricochet is on commentary for this.

They lock up and JP is backed up into the corner. They side headlock each other. AB snapmares him and rolls him up for 2. AB shoulders JP over. JP flips out of a hiptoss. JP and AB legsweep each other then stand off.

JP tries to scissor him and AB does it. JP then bites the fingers.  JP walks up the buckles and AB crotches him on the top rope. AB then shakes the ropes and chops him down. AB puts JP in the electric chair and bangs his face off the apron. JP casadora bulldogs him on the floor outside. 

We go to PiP break and return. AB superkicks him down. AB bridging ddt's him for 2. AB hits the arrival on him and a running knee for 2. JP rolls him up for 2. AB then rolls him up for 2. JP superkicks him. AB lariats him. JP flying knees him twice and pins him.

Thoughts: They kept it moving and it wasn't that bad. Jack won as expected as this promotion just absolutely loves him. There was no great story here though.

Jack looks at Ricochet as he leaves. Ricochet puts his feet up on the commentary table. Jack jumps on him. 

The Death Riders do a promo. Mox says they gave The Don Callis Family a lot of space. He says it was businessmen doing business things. He says it's something differently entirely now. Pac asks who they are and if they forgot what they do. Garcia says they crossed the line they can't come back from. Garcia talks about what a family is. Mox says he's been in the game for 22 years and has seen every type of snake and carny and slime. He says he knows Don. He says of all the bad people in wrestling, he's the worst and he has to be. Shafir then spits something out and says something that is bleeped out.

AEW World Trios Title Match - The Opps (Katsuyori Shibata, Powerhouse Hobbs & Samoa Joe) (c) vs. Adam Page & JetSpeed (Kevin Knight & Mike Bailey)

Page and Joe get in. Joe tags KS in before anything happens. KS offers Mike a handshake then boots and elbows him off of it. Mike hits a kick combo on KS. KS takes a double hiptoss, a double knee drop and a splash for 2.

Hobbs and KK fight. KK hits forearms and is lariated down hard. Page comes in and hits forearms on Hobbs. Hobbs lariats him. Page fallaway slams KS and kips up. Page corner lariats KS. KS flying facekicks him. Page sliding lariats KS for 2. Mike comes in and KS knocks him down.

KS rakes his eyes with his feet. KS suplexes KK on the apron and then on the floor. WE go to PiP break and return. Joe cranks Mike's head to the side. Mike hits elbows to the gut. Joe headbutts him. Mike 2nd rope dropkicks him. Page comes in. He springboard lariats KS then plancha's Joe. Page hits mounted punches on Joe outside. 

Page pulls Hobbs over the top. Page top rope plancha's the heels outside. Hobbs is swept on the apron while holding Page there. Page falls on him. Mike standing moonsault double knees Hobbs on the apron. KK springboards and Hobbs catches him with a uranage. KK hits forearms on Joe then Joe powerslams him for 2. KK takes corner attacks and KS corner dropkicks him. Joe sentons KK for 2.

Joe and KS put chokes on the faces. KK sunset flips Hobbs and pins him.

Thoughts: Hobbs left AEW this week and they had to get the title off of him, so The Opps lost here. It was an alright match but not their best possible work. It really only got around 15 minutes. The legsweep spot with Page falling on Hobbs on the apron was cool. I'm curious to see what happens with The Opps' now as they probably should find someone to replace Hobbs, but who would it be? Hobbs' run in AEW was disappointing. He was injured for a lot of it and some of the stuff they came up with like him teaming with QT Marshall wasn't good. He should do much better in WWE.

Overall thoughts: The show dragged a bit for me. They put in a little bit better of an effort than usual with a title change in the main and perhaps the start of a Don Callis Family vs Death Riders feud. We also saw the return of Penelope Ford from injury and got the start on a Ricochet/Jack Perry program. I didn't like Zayda Steel losing in her AEW TV debut and something went wrong in the opener as Angelico looked like he got knocked out. I'd give this a 6 out of 10 and thought it was alright.
