WWF Superstars of Wrestling 8/22/1992

WWF Superstars of Wrestling 8/22/1992

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/11/wwf-superstars-of-wrestling-8151992.html

We are in Worcester, MA and Summerslam is one week away.

Vince McMahon and Mr. Perfect are our hosts. Vince says Perfect is allegedly the hottest property in the WWF. He asks whose corner he will be in at Summerslam. Perfect goes to say but stalls. He says he will be in the winner's corner. He says this will be the perfect transaction for the perfect Summerslam.

The Beverly Brothers (Beau and Blake Beverly) and The Repo Man vs The Bushwhackers (Luke and Butch) and "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan

Jim swings the 2x4 at Repo during intros. The 6 fight and pair off to start. The heels are all thrown into each other and go down. Repo is then sent into his partners in the corner. The BW's then battering ram the heels in the corner.

Jim lariats the heels then Blake takes a double lariat from The BW's. Blake boots Butch off a handshake. Butch bulldogs him. Butch hits punches. Beau pulls Butch's throat down over the top rope then Blake chokes Butch. Blake double axe handles Butch off the ropes then uses the ropes to stomp him.

Repo chokes Butch in the corner then Butch is choked with the tag rope. Beau headbutt drops Butch. Beau then gets booted. Jim comes in and hits punches on Repo. He then hits mounted corner punches on him.

Jim back elbows Repo then punches out The Bev's. Repo takes a battering ram as do The Bev's. Repo pulls Jim out then trips Butch. The Genius' scroll is brought in and Beau cracks Luke with it. Beau then picks up the win.

Thoughts
: It was short but action packed here. What we got wasn't bad. The ref had no control of this one from the start. It was nice to see a star vs star match after so many squashes over the last few months.

WWF Update

Mean Gene Okerlund shows us clips of the Macho/Warrior/Flair/Perfect situation.

The Ultimate Warrior does a promo. He wonders how far Macho would go to retain his WWF Title. He says Macho has said he would do anything and everything to retain the title and says he would do the same thing. He says everyone knows with the perfect manager in their corner, there is a guarantee of victory. Warrior says they must ask themselves which one is willing to sacrifice their Warriors or Maniacs to have what they want. Warrior says he will leave Summerslam the WWF champ.

Macho Man does a promo. He agrees having the perfect manager ensures victory. He doesn't agree with the sacrifices though. He says his fans don't need an apology and know what he is and where he's going. He says whatever it takes, he wants to raise his hand in victory. He says the only thing Warrior has to worry about is the apology to his Warriors when he loses at Wembley.

Papa Shango vs Scott Taylor

Scott is backed up in the corner. Papa boots and punches him then bangs his head off the buckle. Papa slams him then legdrops him. Papa then hits a shoulderbreaker and wins.

Thoughts: It was just a quick squash here with Papa winning as expected.

Papa chokes Scott with his stick after then beats him with it. Papa ends up breaking the stick on him.

Papa throws one ref out then knocks another down. Bret Hart then comes out and grabs Papa from behind. Bret lets go and walks away as Papa looks mad.

WWF Event Center

Shawn hypes up tonight's Boston Garden show. Rick Martel does a promo on Tatanka and calls him "Chief Whining Eagle". He says he's not flying so high. He says if Tatanka's little braves want to help him out, they should send smoke signals to make him understand that he should stay away from The Model. He says there will be no mercy and it'll be back to the mountains for Tatanka where he belongs.

The Big Boss Man does a promo.

He says the fans screamed at him last time as they knew there would be a war in the ring and he didn't want to disappoint them. He said Nailz did everything he could but found out Nailz wouldn't bow to him. Boss says law and justice will be served even more.

We see Mean Gene interviewing Jimmy Hart from WWF Primetime Wrestling. Hart says he's the smartest manager in the WWF. He says it'll be The Nasty Boys vs The Ultimate Warrior and Macho Man at Summerslam (maybe the Summerslam Spectacular?).  Gene is shocked and says he will get this verified.

Crush vs ?

This is joined in progress. Crush punches the jobber down and gorilla press slams him. Crush then hits a legdrop and spins the jobber with a back elbow. Crush drop down backbreakers him then backbreakers him. Crush then wins with the head squeeze.

WWF Event Center

Sean hypes up tonight's Boston Garden show. Mr. Perfect and Ric Flair do a promo. Perfect says Macho Man has a lot of maybe's going on in his life right now. He says maybe he will or won't be in his corner at Summerslam and maybe Macho won't go into Summerslam as champ. Flair says he doesn't win or lose because of a special ref, he wins because he's the best man in the WWF today. Ric says the title is coming their way.

Macho Man then does a promo and wonders which horse will win tonight. He says Ric's horse is gimpy and has confidence in his ability. Macho says he's the champ and will walk in and out as champ. Macho says Jim Duggan is a tough guy but tells him to call it down the middle as he doesn't need help beating Flair. He says he will beat Flair to a pulp and use him as a practice session.

Razor Ramon vs. Tony Roy

Razor throws him in the corner then hits punches and chops. Razor throws him and stomps on him. Razor hits a nodowa otoshi. Razor does paintbrush slaps to the back of the head. Razor 2nd rope backdrops Tony then hits a razor's edge for the win.

Thoughts:
It was a short squash here with Razor winning as expected. It was similar to what we have been seeing with Razor winning with with ease.

Bruce Hart does a promo next to a ring. He says Bret is his brother and has been a champ. He says he respects what Bret has achieved but is tired of everything revolving around Bret's achievements. He says the ego and the overconfidence factor will play in to Wembley. He says Bret is a great wrestler but when his head is so big, he can't do his best.

Bret Hart vs Richie Rich

Bret side headlocks him. Owen Hart does an inset promo. He says the family is divided at Summerslam but he is picking Bret. Bret hits a suplex and a legdrop. Bret stomps on Rich's leg.

Papa Shango comes out with a bunch of smoke as Rich gets dropped by punches. Bret elbow drops Rich and clubs on him. Bret backbreakers him. Papa does not come all the way down to ringside and leaves. Bret slams Rich then sharpshooters him for the win.

Thoughts: It was weird that they had Bret come down and go back in without doing anything. It was a short squash where the focus was on everything but the match.

Summerslam Report

Mean Gene Okerlund hypes up Summerslam. Gene says The Nasty Boys are facing Macho Man and The Ultimate Warrior at the Summerslam Spectacular on Primetime Wrestling.

The British Bulldog does a promo. He says Bret is looking at his own brother-in-law and will be facing him. He says they got a family who can't decide which side to take. He says let's leave the family out of it. He says he's coming to Summerslam to win.

Kamala and his crew does a promo. Harvey says Taker wanted to get in their face and got their wash. Harvey says Wembley will see the biggest funeral in history and it will be Taker's.

Paul Bearer and The Undertaker do a promo. Paul said Kamala's crew made the mistake of passing them by but will be stopped next time by Taker. Taker says Kamala's fate will be sealed and tells him not to look death in the eye again.

Mean Gene talks about Shawn Michaels and Rick Martel agreeing not hit each other in the face in their match.

WWF World Tour 1992 will be available this week in video stores.

Nailz vs John Armstrong

Nailz chokes John in the corners then throws him into the corner chest first. Nailz kicks him and chokes him more. Virgil does an inset promo. He says he's too legit to quit. Nailz lariats John and chokes him more. Nailz throws John on a slam.

Naizl does a choke on him and the ref ends it.

Thoughts: It was the usual lame Nailz squash with him choking John and not much else.

Nailz chokes with a night stick. Ref and agents come down to break it up.

WWF Event Center

Sean Mooney talks tonight's Boston Garden show. The Beverly Brothers and The Genius do a promo. The Genius says he's not worried about tonight's 6-man as his boys told him no one touches him. Blake says they were born successful while The LOD was born in a street gutter. He says they are privileged. Beau says they won't find success in their coat tails and calls them the biggest sissies in the WWF.

Paul Ellering, Rocco and The LOD do a promo. Rocco says we should give The Bev's and I-Q test with IQ standing for "I Quit". Hawks says they dismember The Bev's and spread them all over the ring.

They hype up the Summerslam Spectacular. The Nasty Boys do a promo. Saggs says it's Macho's turn to go to Nastyville. Knobbs says it's the top dogs of the WWF going against them. He says they are going down and they will nastysize them. They also tease that we will find out who Perfect will manage at Summerslam.

Overall thoughts: We got an acceptable star vs star match to open the show, which is a rarity these days on Superstars. We didn't get too many new developments on Macho/Warrior/Perfect. Papa Shango got choked by Bret, came back down then went back without doing anything to him. We also got tons of promo as Summerslam is only a week away. We also got word of a new Macho/Warrior vs Nasty Boys tag at Summerslam Spectacular. There was nothing you really needed to see here but it wasn't a bad show for Superstars standards.
