Marigold 8/28/2026 Dream Star Grand Prix 2026 Day 1

Pre-show: Shoko Koshino vs. The Lady AI

SK sings on her way to the ring.

They lock up and back each other up on the ropes. AI hits chest forearms on her. SK slams her and splashes her for 2.  SK suplexes her and camel clutches her. 

SK stomps her. They trade chest forearms and AI goes down. AI dropkicks her and sentons her for 2. AI 2nd rope dropkicks her for 2. AI STO's her for 2. SK lariats her and sliding lariats her for 2. SK backdrops her and pins her.

Thoughts: They didn't do much but the basics. It didn't really impress. AI looks really silly in that mask and needs to drop it. This was a little below average. 

We get a ceremony for all the girls in the Grand Prix. Everyone poses around the trophy for a photo and no fighting breaks out.

DREAM STAR Grand Prix 2026 Block D Match - Rea Seto vs. Nagisa Tachibana

Rea takes her down and waistlocks her. Rea side headlocks her and hammerlocks her. NT ropebreaks. Rea stomps her. NT misses a dropkick and Rea boots her while she's down. Rea hair throws her. Rea throws her down by the arm and stomps the arm into the mat. 

NT rolls and headflips out of a wristlock. NT armdrags her. and low dropkicks her. NT crossbodies her for 2. Rea armbars her and NT ropebreaks. Rea baseball slides her. NT tries forearms and Rea just slaps her down. NT hits chest forearms on her and Rea chest forearm her down. 

NT suplexes her. NT bulldogs her. NT suplexes her. NT kneels and grapevines her legs. Rea pulls both her arms backwards. Rea then sits on her arms and NT ropebreaks. Rea kneels and NT hits natural selection for 2. 

NT walks up the buckles and misses a move then Rea gets a 2 count on her. NT la magistral's her for 2. Rea throws her over and crucifixes her for 2. Rea does cattle mutilation to her and NT submits.

Thoughts: It was alright. NT had her arms worked on and she sold all match. In the end, Rea submitted her with cattle mutilation. I'm not real sure Rea should be the vet in these kinds of matches though like she was here since she's not exactly a finished product.

DREAM STAR Grand Prix 2026 Block D Match - Megaton vs. Shinno

Shin urakens her on the handshake and gets a 2 count on her. Shin stomps her and knees her in the gut. Shin drops down off a waistlock and up kicks her. Shin rolls her up for 2. Mega rolls her up for 2. Mega shoulders her over. 

Mega blows a whistle and tries to stomp her. Shin hits kicks on her and throws her whistle down. Shin double stomps her for 2. Mega forearms her down and elbow drops her for 2. Mega blocks a shotei uppercut then bottom rope splashes her for 2. 

Shin high kicks her. Shin then scorpion deathlocks her. Mega rolls her up for 2 then trips her for 2. Shin flying knees her then spinning forearms her down. Shin pins her.

Thoughts: I didn't like it. Mega was doing whatever her comedy was supposed to be and her execution was poor. Shin was fighting her off like an underdog face even though she could have clearly beaten her.

DREAM STAR Grand Prix 2026 Block A Match - Erina Yamanaka vs. Aleah James

EY side headlocks her and takes her over. EY shoulders her over and side headlocks her. AJ shoulders her over and standing dropkicks her. EY flying knees her. AJ boots her out of the corner. AJ double flying knees her then bulldogs her for 2.

They bridge out of each other's high kicks and EY axe kicks her in the gut. EY flying knees her in the corner. EY kind of bronco busters her but mostly just shoves her crotch in her face for 2. EY indian deathlocks her. 

AJ ropebreaks and rolls her up for 2. They trade facekicks for forearms. AJ crossbodies her. AJ fisherman suplexes her for 2. AJ top rope crossbodies her for 2. EY northern lights suplexes her. EY step up enzugiri's her. EY reverse ddt's her and pins her.

Thoughts: It wasn't that bad. They hit their moves clean and James looked better than the last time I saw her. Erina is totally ripping off Natsu Sumire these days but there's worse people to rip off. I liked this and thought it went well.

DREAM STAR Grand Prix 2026 Block C Match - Diana Strong vs. Hummingbird

They shake hands. DS backs her up on the ropes off the lock up. Hum side headlocks her. DS side headlock takeovers her and crucifixes her. DS shoulders her over. DS running back elbows her. DS snapmares her and basement dropkicks her for 2. 

They trade chest forearms and DS drops her down. DS slams her and misses a vader bomb. Hum triangles her over the top rope. Hum running dropkicks her then dropkicks her through the ropes. Hum crabs her and DS ropebreaks. 

Hum boots her out of the corner. DS catches her 2nd rope crossbody and DS powerslams her. DS pumping knees her. DS vader bombs her for 2. DS forearms her outside and Hum forearms her back. Hum runs at her and is spinebustered on the floor. 

DS chops her against the post. DS runs at her and goes int othe post when Hum moves. They are outside for the 18 count and DS is pulled down from the apron. Hum slides in and DS can't make it in before the 20 count. DS is counted out and Hum wins.

Thoughts: Eh, it was average. Hum didn't really add a lot here or get enough meaningful offense in. I guess DS did some power stuff but she's not super muscular or big, so that only works so well. 

DREAM STAR Grand Prix 2026 Block B Match - Nao Ishikawa vs. Mila Smidt

MS takes her down and ties her legs up for a pin attempt. Nao wristlocks her and MS uses the ropes to get out. MS hip throws her 3 times. MS does a grounded sleeper type of move and Nao ropebreaks. 

MS boots her in the head over the 2nd rope. MS ddt's her on the apron. Nao hits chest forearms and shoulders her over. Nao slams her then cartwheel splashes her for 2. Nao rolls her up for 2. Nao ddt's her. 

MS hits chest forearms. MS hip attacks her on the ropes. MS fisherman suplexes her for 2. Nao backslides her for 2. They double lariat each other. Nao double underhook suplexes her for 2. MS headbutts her and Nao rolls her up for 2. MS belly to belly suplexes her for 2. MS hits a widows peak neckbreaker and pins her.

Thoughts: It was a bit one-sided here. Nao got a little in but was totally treated like the underdog here and never really felt like she would win. And she didn't. It was average.

DREAM STAR Grand Prix 2026 Block A Match - Natsumi Showzuki vs. Yuuka Yamazaki

Nat shoves her and YY chops her. They trade chest forearms for chops. YY bites her arm. YY armdrags her. YY codebreakers her. Nat crabs her and bites her wrist as she does it. YY dropkicks her.

YY 619's her. Nat backcrackers her and camel clutches her. Nat bodyscissors her. YY hits mounted chest forearms. YY suplexes her. YY hits chest shots then rolls into a cutter on her for 2. YY hook kicks her in the head. YY 2nd rope diving codebreakers her for 2. 

YY step up enzugiri's her. YY delay suplexes her for 2. YY goes up top and is high kicked. Nat has her on the 2nd rope and fisherman suplexes her down. Nat running meteora's her for 2. Nat top rope double knee drops her. Nat goes for a pin and YY gets a pin in on her. 

Nat rolls her up up into a half crab type of move. Nat then does a nasty half crab and submits her.

Thoughts: It was alright. Yuuka was the underdog here for most of this. She got close to winning at the end but got put down. Nat could have maybe added a bit more but Yuuka did her part and helped make this into a decent bout. 

DREAM STAR Grand Prix 2026 Block B Match - Nagisa Nozaki vs. CHIAKI

Chi hits her before the bell and pounds on her. Chi blocks her double chop. Chi shoulders her over. Chi hits facewash kicks on the ropes. Chi misses a spear and is kicked. NN facekicks her on the 2nd rope. NN does her pendulum kick on her. NN then sends Chi into the seats.

Chi then sends NN into the seats. They fighjt outside and NN double chops her. NN pulls Chi's shirt off (she has her outfit on underneath) and hits more double chops. NN hits double chops and throws her back in. 

NN forearms her and Chi boots her down. NN eye rakes her then Chi eye rakes her. Chi hits boots to the head. NN facekicks her down. NN hits knees to the body. Chi fisherman suplexes her for 2. Chi iron claws her in the corner. Chi hits a corner spear. NN sleepers her. 

Chi torture racks her and NN gets on her back with a sleeper. NN grounds her and Chi ropebreaks. NN pendulum kicks her in the ribs and facekicks her for 2. Chi powerslams her for 2 then legdrops her for 2. 

Chi is up top and is slapped. Chi kind of drops her into the buckles on a failed powerbomb. Chi corner cannonballs her for 2. NN throws the ref into Chi. NN straight punches Chi down. Chi then pushes NN into the ref. Chi throws a chair at NN's back. NN throws a chair at her and facekicks it into her face.

NN kicks her in the face 3 different ways. Chi spears her for 2. NN claymore kicks her and low claymore kicks her for 2. NN claymore kicks her and pins her.

Thoughts: It was a heel vs heel battle here and they are in the same unit. They did a lot of strikeshere and both cheated. What we got was alright enough and similar to what I expected. It could have been a little shorter though. 

DREAM STAR Grand Prix 2026 Block B Match - Mayu Iwatani vs. Komomo Minami

KM running dropkicks her at the bell and hits chest forearms. KM side headlocks her. Mayu armdrags her and KM dropkicks her against the ropes. Mayu dropkicks her. Mayu then dropkicks her against theb ottom rope. 

Mayu stomps her and bangs her head off the buckles. Mayu chops her. KM hits chest forearms. Mayu snapmares her and kicks her in the back a few times. KM hits chest forearms. Mayu spin kicks her in the gut and KM dropkicks her. 

Mayu boots her out of the corner. Mayu misses a corner charge and KM basement dropkicks her. Mayu hits forearms and they trade forearms. KM gets the edge on her then ddt's her. KM 2nd rope twisting crossbodies her for 2. 

KM rolls her up for 2. KM hits a hard spin kick to the jaw. Mayu superkicks her. Mayu hits another superkick. Mayu goes up top and gets slapped multiple times. Mayu slaps her back. Mayu top rope dropkicks her. Mayu top rope frogsplashes her for 2. 

Mayu top rope moonsaults her. Mayu goes for the pin and KM reverses it. Mayu buzzsaw kicks her. KM rolls her up for 2.  KM germans her for 2.  Mayu germans her for 2. Mayu dragon suplexes her and pin her.

Thoughts: It was an okay bout and had a vet vs youngster vibe. KM was the underdog here and did her best to show fighting spirit before being put down. She had some sloppy moments as usual but she had the right idea. I think the work was enough to overcome some of the sloppiness issues.

DREAM STAR Grand Prix 2026 Block A Match - Miku Aono vs. Misa Matsui

MM side headlocks her and wristlocks her. Miku reverses it and side headlocks her. Miku snapmares her and kicks her in the back for 2. MM boots her in the gut. MM pulls her out and facekicks her outside. MM throws her into the seats and into the post. MM throws a chair at her. Miku is put in a chair and MM running knees her.

Miku gets whipped into the seats. MM stomps her in the ring for 2. MM crossfaces her. Miku is put in tree of woe. MM slaps her there then running knees her. MM crossbodies her against the bottom rope. MM 2nd rope double stomps her for 2. 

MM boots her while she's down and basement dropkicks her for 2. MM boots her in the back of the head. MM then sits down and taunts her, inviting her to hit her. Miku kicks her in the back. Miku supericks her and dropkicks her. Miku corner dropkicks her.

MM hits chest forearms. Miku high kicks her down. Miku PK's her from the apron. Miku slams her on the apron and oddly gets no pop for it. Miku top rope dropkicks her inside for 2. Miku fisherman suplexes her for 2. Miku hits chest kicks. Miku does a texas cloverleaf. MM ropebreaks. Miku hits lariats on the ropes and Miku sliding lariats her. MM superkicks her. MM falcon arrows her. Miku hits forearms and MM rolls her into a double stomp. MM low basement dropkicks her.

MM top rope dropkicks Miku. Miku swinging slams her for 2. MM backslides her and rolls her up for 2. Miku lariats her for 2. They each go for pin attempts. Miku buzzsaw kicks her. Miku tiger drivers her and they bell rings. They go to a time limit draw.

Thoughts: I was surprised this went to a draw when it felt a lot shorter than the last match. Both girls had control here for a while and got about the same amount of offense in. The first half was better than the second half. It was acceptable but never got great.

DREAM STAR Grand Prix 2026 Block D Match - Kouki Amarei vs. Chika Goto

Goto has a very odd outfit on with one sleeve and one legging.

They lock up and test strength. Goto side headlocks her. KA hits elbows to the gut and Goto shoulders her over. Goto boots her outside. They trade chest forearms. Goto's arm is banged off the post. 

KA stomps Goto's arm and splashes her arm. KA armdrags her dn armlocks her. KA kicks the rope into the arm then facekicks her on the ropes. KA hits chest forearms. Goto shoulders her over. Goto flying hip attacks her for 2.

KA rolls her up for 2. KA pulls her arms back. Goto giant swings her. Goto forearms her in the corner. KA boots her out of the corner. Goto hits corner lariats. Goto backdrops her. KA no sells it and backdrops her.

KA running dropkicks her. Goto superplexes her off the 2nd rope. Goto running lariats her and tries pin attempts. KA facekicks her. Goto emerald flowsions her for 2. Goto sliding lariats her but KA no sells it and pins her.

Thoughts: I didn't like it. It didn't look it would be that good on paper and it wasn't. The finish was lame too with Kouki no selling finishers to win. This wasn't good.

DREAM STAR Grand Prix 2026 Block C Match - Mai Sakurai vs. Victoria Yuzuki

Yuz high kicks her to start then dropkicks her in the knee. Mai basement dropkicks her and stomps her. Mai axe kicks her back and double stomps her gut for 2. Mai overhead suplexes her for 2 then armbars her. 

Mai running facekicks her on the ropes. Mai driveby kicks her on the ropes. Mai top rope dropkicks her for 2. Yuz his chest forearms and Mai drops her with one. Yuz hip throws her. Yuz northern lights suplexes her for 2 and crossfaces her. 

Yuz dropkicks her through the ropes. Mai flying kicks her. They trade chest forearms. Yuz pump kicks her and Mai backdrops her. Mai single leg dropkicks her in the face for 2. Mai suplexes her. Mai top rope elbow drops her for 2. 

Yuz backdrops Mai. Yuz spinning backdrops her for 2. Mai hits a stiff 2nd rope backdrop for 2. Mai STO's her for 2. Yuz rolls her up for 2. Yuz goes for a crucifix and Mai reverses it for 2. Yuz superkicks her for 2. Yuz superkicks him from behind. Yuz straightjacket germans her and pins her.

Thoughts: It was alright. It didn't get the time to be great and it was shorter than expected. The 2nd rope backdrop spot was pretty stiff and both girls looked like their necks were hurting after. Mai was pretty even with Yuz here. It's too bad this didn't get more time to play out. If you were looking for some kind of story, this didn't really have one.

Overall thoughts: It was a longer show at close to 3 hours.  The opener was average. Rea/Tacihbana was alright. Megaton/Shinno sucked. I liked Erina/Aleah and was surprised by how that turned out. Diana/Hummingbird was average. Mila/Nao was a bit one-sided and average. Showzuki/Yamazaki was fine as was Nozaki/Chiaki. Mayu/Komomo was okay and the main was also okay. There was a lot of decent but not great wrestling here. There's nothing I'd really recommend but you could watch this one and feel satisfied enough. The good far outweighed the bad here. I'd give it a mid-6 out of 10 overall. It was okay overall.
