AEW Dynamite 9/2/2026
Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2026/08/aew-dynamite-8262026.html
We are in Allen, TX. Excalibur and Tony Schiavone are on commentary.
We see clips from All In.
Will Ospreay comes out to talk. He says he's had a whole week of crying. He says he's been on a bender since Sunday. He says the support he has been given means the world and he won't let us down. He says he and Omega pushed each other the limit. He says he had to keep fighting as the title is what he wanted all his life. He says Omega has been the best wrestler in the world for the last 10 years and still is 364 days of the year. He says it just took one day to become champ.
He says they both have 2 wins against each other now. He says he's satisfied with it being 2-2. He says if Omega isn't, name the time and place to sort it out. He says he's amongst all of his heroes now and says his idols are his rivals. He says he struggles to say he's the guy. He says he's the standard now and the best in the world. He says if you want to take the title from him, you'll have to walk through the same line of fire and he will see you at the end of it.
He gives shoutouts to Henare, Newman and Akira. He says they are why he succeeded and says he wanted no else in the corner except them. He says they have a United Empire in Japan and he will start looking to bring the United Empire to AEW.
The Demand interrupt. Ricochet says he's not here to rain on his parade. He says they have unfinished business and are forever intertwined. He says Will vs Kenny was spectacular. He says Will has known him for years and knows that he would not be where he is without Ricochet. Ric demands he gets the first tile shot.
Gabe Kidd then comes out with Clark Connors and interrupts. Gabe says Will took his chance to be the first Birtish AEW champ. He says it's nothing compared to what he will take from Will and his family. Ric says he will get the first opportunity. Gabe says he doesn't want to take his title yet but his life. He says it's a numbers game and it's 5 on 1. United Empire then come out to help Will and prevent a fight from happening.
Will says they can fight now or can meet in the main event.
Thoughts: I have a feeling this means Akira, Henare and Newman are getting signed, or that there will be more NJPW signings. I hope not as AEW has taken too many of their wrestlers.
We get a video on New Level's debut. Kofi says they won titles on the first night out. Swerve says they are history makers and nobody is above them.
AEW Trios Titles - Swerve Strickland and The New Level (Kofi and Austin Creed) vs The Rascalz (Dezmond Xavier, Zach Wentz and Myron Reed)
SS and Reed go at it. SS headscissors him from the mat after some counters and stuff. Reed enzugiri's him off a kip up. Reed bottom rope sprinboards and is hit with snake eyes. SS facekicks him.

Dez topes Kofi outside, Kofi catches him and ranhei's him on the floor. Zach tornillo plancha's Kofi and Kofi tope forearms Zach. AC hits a double tope outside. Reed jumps over the top, cutters AC over the apron and headscissors SS on the landing.
Kofi hits a corkscrew kick then is hit with a koppo kick from Dez. Dez handsprings and SS house call kicks him in mid-air. Dez takes a top rope double stomp + slam. SS hits a house call kick on Dez and pins him.
Thoughts: It was a fast paced match with tons of action and cool moves. If you blinked, you missed something here. There was no real selling at all and they did a million moves here. They just let these guys go out and have fun for the most part.
Kofi's team goes up the ramp and The Bucks come out and look at them.
The Young Bucks talk in the ring. They complain about how Cope and Cage beat them. They ask if they are satisfied with how they won and ask them to come down.
FTR come down instead. Stokeley Hathaway says he can't believe what he is hearing. He says The Bucks disgust him. Dax says The Bucks had their chance and lost again in front of their fans and family. FTR says they beat Cope and Cage and say to sit back and watch while they become 4x tag champs. A Buck says they beat FTR just as FTR beat them but says they never said "I Quit".
Cope and Cage come out. Cage says they don't ask how you won, who won. Cage says him and Cope were supposed to be the old guys who were past their prime, but they walked out tag champs when they faced both of them. He says he's surprised they didn't take a 50% paycut to go somewhere else instead of being embarrassed by them.
Cope says his job is to be the voice of reason and he's not happy with how they won. He says the former champs are entitled to their rematch. He says there will be a 3-way match at All Out. He says it may involve chairs, tables and it will have ladders.
United Empire are interviewed. Will says he doesn't need Newman's permission to expand the group as he started it. Will is asked if he has a 5th man for his team tonight. Newman says he knows a guy. Andrade El Idolo comes in and does his line then shakes their hands. He congratulates Will.
AEW TNT Title - Darby Allin (c) vs Mark Davis
Mark nails DA during his entrance. He ties him up in the ring skirt and chops him. DA is thrown over the timekeeper's table and into the rails. We go to PiP break and return.

Mark then drops DA with a big forearm outside. DA gets Mark caught in the rails and forearms him. DA is then pushed into the commentary table. The match then officially starts. Mark foot chokes DA. DA is tossed into the corner and just bounces off. Mark release germans him.
Mark chops DA while he's down. Mark throws him and forearms him hard in the back of the head for 2. Mark flips him with a lariat. We go to break and return. DA hits a slap flurry and corner dropkicks him.
DA hits hard forearms and Mark one arm powerbombs him with his hand tied to the tag rope. They slap each other. Mark catches DA's back springboard and goes for a sleeper. Mark back body drops DA. DA code red's him for 2. Mark goes out and DA topes him hard from behind. DA top rope dropkicks him outside and lands hard on the floor. Mark gets in and DA hits 2 coffin drops from the top. DA then wins.
Thoughts: Darby won as expected. Both guys beat the crap out of each other and took some awful looking shots and bumps. They didn't make the most of what they did but it was full of action and I'd be surprised if both guys came out of this healthy. I still liked it, but they could have done half of what they did and it would have been enough.
Trent Baretta and Rocky Romero beat up Darby after. Steven Borden saves Darby. Borden tries to get Mark to come in. Josh Alexander returns and beats up Borden. Darby tries to help and Josh puts him in an ankle lock. Mark piledrivers Borden.
We hear from MJF after All In. He complains about losing the casino gauntlet. He says Will Ospreay is wrong with his life. He rants and raves and says he's a cold dose of reality nobody wants to deal with. He says he's the biggest needle mover in wrestling and says payback is coming and it's a b!tch. He says we won't see when payback is coming. He says when he does dish out payback, Will will be begging for it.
Megan Bayne vs Alex Windsor
They lock up. Meg forearms her and shoulders her over a few times. Meg hits corner spears. Meg hits knees to the gut. Alex hits corner shots. Meg shoulders her over and tries to pin her with a foot on the chest.
Alex hits shots to the chest. Alex's crossbody is caught and Meg fallaway slams her. Meg is pulled over the top and Alex cannonballs her off the apron.
We go to PiP break and return. Alex hits running lariats. Alex puts her in the ropes and chops her. Alex dropkicks her there and ddt's her over the 2nd rope for 2. Meg boots her around. Alex superkicks her in the face and Meg falcon arrows her for 2. Alex does a blue thunder variation for 2. They forearm each other on the apron. Meg facekicks her off the apron. Alex sweeps her there. They double clothesline each other on the floor.
Lena Kross and Jamie Hayter end up fighting outside. Meg hits Alex with a title belt. Alex is on the 2nd rope and Meg sitout powerbombs her for the win.
Thoughts: Meg thankfully won here. It was fine. Meg dominated her a little here and we had some outside shenanigans that wasn't really needed.
Meg and Lena stomp Alex after and Jamie goes after them. They run.
Chris Jericho is interviewed. CJ says he didn't win or lose the casino gauntlet as he says Nick Wayne got pinned. Nick comes in and says he owned the casino gauntlet. He says he took CJ out of the gauntlet. Nick asks what that says for CJ. CJ says Nick is still 21 and says he doesn't know what he doesn't know. He says his necklace makes him look like a douchebag. They fight and Nick is sent into a rollaway garage door. Nick then kicks him low.
Mercedes Mone comes out for a championship celebration. She says she hasn't stopped smiling since All In. She says she wanted to be here and is standing here as the Women's World champ. She says she bet on herself and says this is what happens when you stop asking to be great.
She says she has done something no one else has done before - won gold in 4 major companies. She said she needed to leave one thing behind here and that was Willow. She says she showed who Willow is - an egomaniac b!tch. Sh then shows her face with black eyes and tape on her nose.
She says she thought Willow was stopping her from her destiny but she pushed her towards it. She thanks Willow and says look who's smiling now. She says this is her moment and what she wants for the title doesn't even exist yet. She says it will now that she has the title in her hand.
Thekla interrupts from the stands and says it was so great. She says for all of Mone's victories, she has never been toxic. She thanks her for what she did to Willow. She says she has heard Mone has been calling people "dumb b!tch" since she's been gone. She says if there's one thing she hates more than a dumb b!tch, it's another person calling people that. She says Mone is the CEO but she doesn't work for her. She then does a toast to Mone and says to let her know when she's ready to give her the title back.
Britt Baker and Persephone do a promo. Britt says Pers has a killer instinct to take what is hers. Britt says she's been where the majority of the division won't go. She says Pers will take it somewhere it hasn't been before. Pers says they will be eternal together and have no achilles heel. She says she's giving Vertvixen a shot at her title on Collision.
AEW Continental Title Eliminator - Jon Moxley vs AR Fox
This is beyond random. They trade waistlocks and Mox takes him down. Mox wristlocks him. AR cartwheels out and snapmares him into a crucifix. They then stand off. Mox side headlocks him and shoulders him over. AR enzugiri's him.
Mox is thrown out. AR superkicks him from the apron. AR plants off the post and moonsaults onto him. AR misses a top rope 450. Mox john woo's him out. We go to PiP break and return.
Mox hits mounted corner punches. Mox hits running corner lariats. AR cutters him. AR hits running lariats. AR superkicks him and hits a low cutter while Mox is kneeling. AR swantons off the top but Mox gets his knees up. Mox running lariats him. AR twisting suplexes him. AR top rope 450's him for 2.
AR flips him and tries to walk him into a cutter but Mox goes for the sleeper. Mox hits a death rider ddt and pins him.
Thoughts: This was a waste of time and ensured the show would run late. There was no need for this as Mox won as expected. It was the usual AR match with him doing all of his usual spots.
Don Callis, Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight are interviewed. Kevin makes a remark about Kyle and Kyle gets mad. They argue. Don says they both had setbacks at All In but he's thinking about the longterm. He says Okada's the only one who stuck to the plan. He says Kyle and Kevin will team up to build cohesion against Ace Austin and Juice Robinson. Okada comes in and says, "Family Kyle, Family". Kyle then gets mad.
United Empire (Will Ospreay, Callum Newman, Francesco Akira, Andrade El Idolo and HENARE) vs The Dogs (Gabe Kidd and Clark Connors) and The Demand (Ricochet, Toa Liona and Bishop Kaun)
Ric ducks Will's lock up and tags out. Toa and Hen get in. They yell at each other and trade forearms. Hen gets the edge. He headbutts him several times and is lariated over. Hen takes a double hiptoss drop and a senton for 2.
Clark bangs Hen's head off the buckles and Hen no sells it. Hen pounces Clark. Calrk takes a double basement dropkick and Akira is dropped into a senton on him for 2. Idolo triangle springboard tornillo's out. Idolo then takes a pic with a girl and United Empire join in. The heels then hit them.
Akira is stuck on the 2nd rope and Ric powebomb throws him onto others. We go to PiP break and return. Clark hits Akira on the apron. Akira slingshot cutters Clark. Newman comes in and facekicks Clark down. Newman runs the ropes and running boots Kaun over. Kaun hits chops on Newman. Newman hits shots on him and running facekicks him down. Kaun takes a flying Akira dropkick then a Hen spinning samoan drop. Hen sentons Kaun for 2.
Kaun final cuts Gabe. Gabe rebound lariats him. Hen lariats Gabe over the top rope. Hen takes a john woo and a running corner hip attack. Ric top rope twisting splashes Hen. Akira hits chops on The Gates of Agony. They no sell them.
Akira topes Gabe outside. Akira takes a sandwich bodyblock outside. Newman tope con hilos The Gates outside. Will and Ric trade chops. Will step up enzugiri's him. Ric knees him and Will handspring corkscrew kicks him for 2.
Ric handspring back elbows Will. Clark powerslams Will. Will knees him in the face and enzugiri's him. Kaun lariats Idolo over. Hen headbutts Kaun and Toa. Toa headbutts him back then takes a flying headbutt. Ric springboard flying lariats Hen.
Akira 2nd rope moonsaults The Gates outside. Ric is flipped with a Newman lariat. Clark spears Newman. Idolo spinning back elbows Clark. Will hidden blades Clark and pins him.
Thoughts: It was a bit rushed and very fast paced at times here. We saw the most of Henare and Akira here. They really tried to put Akira over for some reason. It was okay the finishing stretch was pretty fast.
Idolo and Will shake hands after. Gabe pulls Idolo out and everyone fights again. Security comes out to break it up. Gabe throws Idolo over the commentary table. Will hook kicks Gabe. Gabe low blows Will. Gabe grabs a chair to use on Will and The Death Riders come out for unknown reasons. Mox takes the chair from Gabe and he argues with Gabe. Gabe goes to chair Will and Mox stands in front of Will Idolo spears Gabe and hits mounted shots. Idolo throws Gabe over the rail and they fight in the crowd. Mox gives Will the AEW Title and grabs him by the hair. Then a graphic on the tron shows that it's Will vs Mox for the AEW Title at All Out.
Thoughts: I really don't get this retcon with Mox and Will now suddenly being on good terms after Will turned his back on The Death Riders and attacked Mox.
Overall thoughts: The opener was fast and full of flying. There was no real selling and they kind of did what they wanted. It's not like it went badly, but it wasn't a smart match. Darby/Davis was vicious but I still liked it. They didn't need to do all that though. Bayne/Alex was fine. I don't know why we needed to see Mox/AR. It was acceptable though. The main was also fine and had a fun finishing stretch. I didn't like the Mox/Will stuff all that much and I'm not excited about United Empire becoming a permanent fixture around here. The show was fine and I'd give it a 6 out of 10 overall.
