CMLL 9/4/2026 Viernes Espectacular

The announcer talks to open the show and does the usual announcements.

El Hijo del Pantera & Pantera Jr. vs. Cerebro Negro Jr. & Infarto

Hijo and CN go at it. They trade some holds and Hijo takes him down by the arm. CN sweeps him and step up sentons his back. Hijo hits forearms and CN lariats him. Pant Jr springboard diving armdrags him. Infarto shoulders over Pant Jr

Los Pantera get dropped with lariats from Infarto. Pant Jr spin kicks Infarto in the gut, bounces into the ropes and spinning headscissors him. Everyone starts doing leapfrogs and Pant Jr headscissors Infarto down. Los Pantera hit streop tope con hilos outside.

Infarto is tripped and blocks a 619. Infarto kicks Pant Jr.  CN la rosa ddt's Pant Jr right on his head. Pant Jr takes a pendulum sitout powerbomb. Hijo gets stomped on. Hijo is basement dropkicked in the back. Hijo takes a top rope double stomp into a wheelbarrow german. Pant Jr is stomped on by the heels. 

Hijo slingshot splashes Infarto. Pant Jr springboard splashes both opponents for 2. CN takes a tilt-a-whirl bacbreaker from Hijo. Infarto chops down Hijo. Pant Jr is lifted into a headscissors over the top, sending Infarto down. Hijo double boos CN out of the corner and then tope con hilos Infarto through the ropes. Pant Jr top rope double knee drops CN and pins him.

Thoughts: It was an okay opener. It was basicaly a tornado  match like usual with people doing whatever. The faces flew around a lot though which was fine and Pant Jr didn't botch anything. I was fine with this one.

Lightning Tag Team Match - Kira & Tabata vs. Ema Maishima & Mei Seira

The Japanese hit their opponents on the handshake. All 4 girls trade. Mei and Tab kick their opponents over. Kira and Mei then hit stereo dropkicks. Kira bodyscissors rolls Mei around and does a bridge pin for 2. Mei is rolled up for 2 by Kira. Mei slaps Kira. They trip each other and headflip up together. 

Ema throws Kira out. Tab pump kicks Ema and Tab armdrags her. Tab flying headscissors Ema out. Tab baseball slides Mei off the apron. Tab poses and Ema low dropkicks her. Ema foot chokes Kira. 

Kira takes a double basement dropkick over the 2nd rope then another double basement dropkick. Tab takes running corner attacks then a double basement dropkick. Ema dropkicks Kira on the apron then Ema apron plancha's both opponents. Mei top rope plancha's both opponents outside.

Ema and Mei do facewash kicks on the ropes. Tab and Kira hit stereo 619's. Kira springboard crossbodies and Tab top rope dropkicks. Ema takes a double suplex for 2. Tab drops Mei gut first onto Kira's knees. Ema rolls up Kira for 2. 

The Japanese hit stereo suplexes for 2 counts. Tab stunners Ema and Kira shotgun dropkicks Ema. Tab spanish flies Ema off the apron to the floor. Mei gets a 2 count on Kira and is pushed out. Kira topes Tab on accident when her opponents move. Kira cradles Mei off a suplex for 2. Mei does her flipping crucifix and pins Kira.

Thoughts: It was high speed craziness as expected here. It was a total sprint and the Japanese won. I was glad it ended when it did as it was starting to get a little old but it was acceptable otherwise.

Lightning Match - Lluvia vs. Maika

L = Lluvia

Maika hits L on the ramp as she enters. L is sent into the rails. Maika chokes L on the ropes. Maika pulls on L's mask on the rails. Maika stomps L in the ring then stands on her head. Maika corner lariats L then chops her. L then hits chops on her in the corner. Maika stomps L.

L bangs ika's head off the buckles then she basement dropkicks her. L flying headscissors Maika outside. L then plancha's her off the ramp. They trade running corner lariats. L backcrackers Maika for 2. Maika powerslams L for  2. 

L sitout powerbombs Maika for 2. Maika 2nd rope superplexes L for 2. Maika is up top and gets hit. L top rope spanish flies her and pins her.

Thoughts: It kind of turned into a spotfest near the end with them doing a big spot then going to the next big spot without a ton of reason or flow. Maika doing some heel stuff was amusing. I liked the effort, but thought they got close to doing too much near the end.

CMLL World Tag Team Title #1 Contendership Three Way Semi Final Match - El Clon & Rocky Romero vs. Los Guerreros Laguneros (Gran Guerrero & Stuka Jr.) vs. El Sky Team (Mascara Dorada & Neon)

RR's and Stuka's teams fight on the ramp before Sky Team enters. sky Team then heads in. MD is popped up into a headscissors on Gran in the ring. Neon rope walk diving headscissors RR. MD and Neon hit near stereo tope con hilos outside. Stuka dropkicks Neon in the knee then MD corkscrew headscissors Clon outside. 

Stuka sweeps MD on the apron. Stuka topes out and Gran somehow knocks MD off the apron. Gran takes enzugiri's from RR's team and a shiranui from RR for 2. Clon stomps on MD. MD and Neon get chopped together then they take running corner lariats. MD and Neon then take stereo triple suplexes.  

Clon asai moonsaults Neon. RR b-drivers MD and Clon top rope double stomps MD. Neon is stomped on in the corner and Neon takes a 4 person dropkick. Gran and RR try to have their teams work together. MD takes stomps from 4 people. RR then lariats Gran and Clon nails Stuka.

Clon spinebusters Neon and RR slaps Neon. MD running ssp's Clon. Neon springboard double os cutters Gran and Stuka. MD is thrown up into the ropes and he double armdrags Gran's team. Gran's team is sent out. Neon and MD go for a 2 person dive on the ropes but RR breaks it up with Clon. We get a tower of doom spot with Neon's team getting superplexed for 2 counts.

Clon pele kicks Stuka. RR corner lariats Gran and slaps him. Clon plants off the top rope and moonsaults Gran. Gran sits up top and 2nd rope cradle shocks Clon down. Stuka top rope double splashes RR's team. Neon and MD then roll up Gran's team for 2 counts. 

Neon top rope moonsaults outside. MD top rope 450's Stuka but Stuka gets his knees up. Stuka top rope splashes MD but MD no sells it and pins him.

Thoughts: I hate the new "Wrestler A hits a finisher, Wrestler B no sells it and Wrestler B pins Wrestler A" spot. It originated in Stardom and it's awful. It makes no sense whatsoever. It was all mayhem here with 2 wrestlers doing a sequence then someone getting out so the next person can get in. It wasn't awful or anything but the format limited it. I think they did about the best you could do with it, but I didn't love it.

They do a ceremony for the referees with a public health official of Mexico. They introduce all the refs and the refs are clearly moved by it. They are given a plaque and they get some applause.

Barbaro Cavernario & Dragon Rojo Jr. vs. Templario & Ultimo Guerrero

1st Fall - Rojo is beaten up on the ramp to start. Barb is tripped and Temp walks up the ropes and springboard dropkicks him. Temp take down Rojo and pounds on him. Temp enzugiri's Rojo on the apron. UG baseball slides Rojo off the apron. UG's team celebrates in the ring and Barb springboard splashes Temp. 

Temp kicks Barb in the leg. Barb grabs Temp's mask and tries to remove it. UG stops Barb. UG chops Barb down. Temp kicks Barb in the ribs. Barb makes his comeback. Rojo top rope dropkicks UG. Rojo then tops UG outside.

Barb hits lariats on Temp then neckbreakers him. Barb rips Temp's mask. Rojo then takes off Temp's mask and stomps him. Templario's team wins the fall via DQ.

2nd Fall - UG and Temp are beat up on. Temp is hit and thrown out. Temp is sent into the rails. UG is bridged on the rails and Barb pop up la silla's him. Temp is popped up into a kick to the gut. Temp is pop up dropped and Barb facekicks Temp. 

Barb kicks UG in the leg. Barb and Rojo rip up Temp's mask on the ropes. UG spinebusters both opponents. Temp flying space tiger drops from the ramp into the ring. Barb and Rojo kick out of a double pin. Barb dropkicks UG then dropkicks Rojo on accident. Barb la rosa suplexes Temp. 

Temp GTS' Barb and canadian destroyers him. Temp then pins him. Templario's team wins the fall and match.

Thoughts: The 2/3 falls format didn't work for this one. Barb's temp got DQ'd in the first fall and that really should have been it. Temp's team ended up winning anyway so it made no real difference. The big story they tried to put over was that Barb and Rojo hate Temp. They were successful in doing so, but I don't think they needed all the time they got to do it. I thought it was average.

Averno & Mistico vs. Star Jr. & Zandokan Jr.

1st Fall - Zand boots Mist on the ramp and Av bets up Star in the ring. Zand chops Mist down then facekicks him down multiple times. Zand throws Mist out. Av and Barb trade chops. Av dropkicks Zand then they shove each other. Mist springboard diving headscissors Zand. Mist springboard back elbows Star. Mist enzugiri's Star then Mist springboard diving headscissors Star out. 

Mist slingshot tornillo's Star. Zand sitout AA's Av then tiger drivers him. Zand pins Av. Zandokan Jr.'s team win the fall.

Kemalito comes in and dropkicks KeMonito between the falls. 

2nd Fall - Zand unties Mist's mask and tries to take it off. Star sends Av into the rails. Mist is tripped into the ropes. Zand tries to unmask Mist then stomps Mist. Mist takes a double elbow drop. Av dropkicks Zand. Av is stomped on by the heels. 

Star pulls on Mist's mask. Star and Zand then stomp Mist together. Zand stomps Av in the corner. Zand chops Av. Zand sends Mist into the rails and Star stomps on Av. Zand pulls on Mist's mask. Mist flying headscissors Zand. Zand and Star then pound on Mist and Star pushes Zand off so he can nail Mist. Star and Zand fight. Mist is flipped into the ropes and he armdrags both. Mist walks up the buckles and top rope plancha's Zand outside.

Star misses a 2nd rope moonsault. Av hits a nasty angel's wings on Star's head and neck (Star bumped like he was going to take a piledriver). Av pins Star. Mistico and Averno win the fall.

Doctors check on Star between falls while KeMalito and KeMonito fight. KeMonito splashes KeMalito and pretends to pin him.

3rd Fall - Av and Zand trade chops. Zand lariats him down and stomps him. Zandthen stands on KeMonito. Av chops Zand then top rope diving armdrags him. Star stomps Mist. Mist fights off Zand and Star then he is stomped on. 

Zand is pushed into Star. Mist 619's Star. Mist springboard double crossbodies his opponents. Mist flying headscissors Star then walks up the buckles and corkscrew diving armdrags Zand. Mist topes Zand outside. Av la magistral's Star for 2. Star hits a tequila shot on Av for 2.

Zand wastelands Av. Mist top rope spanish flies Zand for 2. Av 2nd rope angel's wings Star then Zand throws Av out. Mist la mistica's Zand and submits him. Mistico and Averno win the fall and match.

Thoughts: I didn't like this one that much. The big problem with these matches is that CMLL is built around face vs heel stuff. Star was heelish here, but he'll be back to being friendly with Mist tomorrow and will be back to being a super face tomorrow. That just exposes what they are doing. It was also a bit hard to follow since we are so used to seeing these people work together instead of facing each other. Like the last match, one fall would have been enough here. Star wasn't bad a heel though in this one and I hope he's okay after the botched angel's wings he took.

Av and Mist celebrate after then Av beats up Mist. Mist takes him down and pounds on him. Av then takes Mist's mask off. 

Overall thoughts: The top matches were focused on building the Anniversary show. It was a bit of a weird show as I would say the first 3 matches were all similar bouts and the last 2 bouts were basically the same thing with some minor changes. I didn't like the last 2 bouts as both were 2/3 falls matches when they should have been single fall matches. The main was tough to follow with Star Jr. acting as a heel instead of a face and doing stuff he wouldn't normally do. This was a different kind of show than what we usually get and not for the better. I'd give it a 5 out of 10 as the effort was there but the wrestlers got put into a lot of situations that were hard to work with. I thought it was so-so.
