Note - The mask match tonight is easily the biggest and most hyped up match this year. 

We are in Monterrey, Mexico. Corey Graves, JBL and Rey Mysterio are on commentary.

We get a video on lucha libre and masks to start. 

We see wrestlers hanging out and arriving. El Grande Americano Original arrives and kind of has to fight his way through the fans. El Grande Americano II has a Mexican flag and a crowd singing behind him. 

AAA Cruiserweight Title - Laredo Kid (c) vs Rey Fenix

Rey dropkicks him and springboard spin kicks him to start. Rey enzugiri's him from behind. Rey rope walk kicks Kid. Rey rolls and gets powerbombed. Kid buzzsaw kicks him for 2. Kid bottom rope corkscrew moonsaults him. Kid misses a 2nd rope moonsault. Kid hits kicks and jumping neckbreakers him. Kid michinoku drivers him for 2.

Kid stomps Rey. Kid texas cloverleaf's him. Kid sharpshooters him and Rey ropebreaks. Kid hits mounted shots on Rey. Kid pulls the top buckle off. Rey chops him and hits forearms. Rey misses a corner charge and goes into the post. Kid cloverleafs him on the top rope.

Kid curbstomps Rey for 2. Rey hits lariats on Kid then spinning lariats him. Rey double jump plancha's him outside. Rey top rope crossbodies Kid for 2 then armbars him. Rey pump kicks Kid. Rey superkicks him. Kid slaps him and they trade chops. Kid spinning ddt's him but Rey headflips out and no sells it. Rey superkicks him. Rey spin kicks him. Kid hits a canadian destroyer ddt for 2.

Rey blocks Kid's low blow. Rey rolls into a cutter on him for 2. Rey superkicks him for 2. Rey is cradled for 2. Kid codebreakers him. Kid sits on the top, takes a shotei then a Mexican muscle buster. Rey only gets a 2 count. Rey points at the exposed buckle, the ref looks and Kid low blows Rey. Kid top rope splashes Rey for 2. 

Kid goes into the exposed buckle. Rey springboard spin kicks him. Rey hits a Mexican muscle buster and pins him.

Thoughts: I didn't like their last bout and didn't like this one that much either. They just did too much and kicked out of too much here for me. Rey was inevitably beating Kid just the question was how long would it take. This got a lot of time to play out. They did canadian destroyer ddt's here, low blows and Mexican muscle busters in this. 

We see some Mexican celebs. We then see Mr. Iguana and La Parka.

AAA Latin American Title - El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. (c) vs El Hijo del Vikingo

Doc dropkicks him to start. Doc pop-up powerslams him for 2. Doc sentons him for 2. Vik superkicks him on the apron then forearms him there. Doc facekicks him off the apron. Vik dropkicks him in the knee, sending him into the steps. Doc's head is banged off the steps. Doc is sat on the steps and Vik top rope double stomps him down to the floor.

Doc lays on the apron and Vik baseball slides him down. Vik running ssp's him off the apron to the floor. Vik comes off the top and runs into a Doc superkick. Doc step up knees him in the corner then corner cannonballs him. Doc top rope splashes him for 2. Vik crucifix drivers him. 

Omos comes out. Doc lariats Vik for 2. Dorian Roldan gets on the apron and Omos trips Doc up top. Vik corner meteora's Doc then top rope 450's him for 2. Galeno del Mal comes out and splashes Omos outside. Omos chops him down and throws him over the rail. Galeno hits Omos with a chair outside several times. 

Vik dropkicks Galeno through the ropes. Mini Vikingo springboard dropkicks Vik. Doc hits a move on Vik for 2. Omos hits a big punch on Doc and drops him. Vik top rope 630's Doc and pins him.

Thoughts: It was a shorter bout here but that may have been for the better as they couldn't overdo it too much. We had a lot of shenanigans here with Omos, Mini Vikingo, Dorian and Galeno. I was fine with this one. They really didn't get the most they could have out of this feud at all though and this match was not that well built up to. 

Triplemania will be in both Las Vegas and Mexico this year.

AAA Tag Titles - Psycho Clown and Pagano (c) vs The War Raiders (Erik and Ivar)

The Raiders are sent out. The faces hit stereo topes on them. Erik takes a backcracker + lariat combo. Clown superkicks Ivar out. Erik knocks Clown out of the ring from behind. Ivar splashes Clown on the floor from the apron.

Clown takes a corner lariat then Erik hits mounted shots on Clown. Erik forearms Clown down. Erik chinlocks Clown. Ivar knees Clown in the gut. Erik knees Clown in the face for 2. 

Ivar hits back elbows on Clown. Clown flying lariats Ivar. Pag back elbows Erik three times. Pag 2nd rope diving codebreakers Erik. Pag tornado ddt's Erik on the floor. Pag emerald flowsion's Erik for 2. Erik knees Pag in the face.

Clown headbutts Ivar then pop-up forearms Erik. Clown kicks Ivar in the head then topes Erik between the buckles. Clown code red's Ivar for 2. Clown air raid crashes Ivar. Pag top rope diving legdrops Ivar. Clown top rope splashes Ivar for 2. 

Erik knees Pag in the gut. Pag tope con hilos him through the ropes. Ivar sit down butt drops Clown in the corner. Pag boots Ivar and Ivar uraken's Clown. Pag lariats Clown when Ivar ducks. Clown is out then Ivar throws Pag out. Clown is popped up into a power slam and is pinned.

Thoughts: This was one way to continue the issues between Clown and Pagano here. It was okay enough. The Mexican's flew and The Raiders hit a lot of knees and strikes. The crowd wasn't that into this though. I'm interested to see what comes out of this one.

Pagano helps Clown up after. Clown knocks his hand away and yells at him. Clown shoves him and Pag shoves him down. Clown rips off a layer of his mask and they argue face to face. Pag walks out. The War Raiders jump Clown. Clown takes a uranage. Pag sees Clown down and Clown begs for help. Pag then heads to the back as Clown takes a double powerbomb.  

Rey Mysterio comes out before the main and we get a comic video on the main.

They have a Mexican band play. Grande OG comes out of his locker room with security.

Grande OG gets booed during his entrance and gets loud "culero" chants. Grange OG tries to take a mask from a kid. Grande II gets a band with singers.  Grande II comes out alone, loses his hat during his entrance and one of the band members puts it on him. Grande II hugs fans and gets an "ole, ole, ole, Grande" chant.

Mask vs Mask Match - El Grande Americano vs El Grande Americano

I'll refer to Grande Original as Grande OG and El Grande Americano II as Grande 2 here.

Grande OG hits Grande II with a guitar with powder in it before the bell. Grande OG pounds on Grande II and stomps him. Grande OG pounds on him then stands on his head over the bottom rope. Grande OG overhead throws II then slaps him down. 

Grande II hits punches on OG then OG punches back. They hockey fight. Grande II headbutts him then running suplexes him. Grande OG throws him over the top then lariats him on the apron. 

Grande II monkey flips OG head first into the post. Grande II  then topes him. Grande II shotgun dropkicks him and chops him. Grande OG overhead throws him on the floor then sends him into the post. Grande II rolling death valley drivers him on the floor.

Grande II brings a table out. Grande OG takes him down then sends him into the steps. Grande II's head is banged off the steps. Grande OG does a dangerous reverse angle slam off the steps onto the floor on II for a 2 count. Grande OG pound on II's head and rips his mask up.

Grande OG punches II on the apron. Grande II air raid crashes him off the apron through a table. Grande OG germans him on the floor. OG hits him with a table piece and II goes over the rail. OG throws a computer chair at II then throws it at his head. OG throws a chair at II's head.

OG bites II's head then suplexes him on the floor. II's head is banged off the commentary table and OG pounds on him. OG pounds on II in the ring. OG flaps him and gets pounded on more. II is bleeding some.

OG hits punches on II. OG exploders him for 2. OG slaps him hard. OG pounds on his head on the buckles. OG top rope backdrops him.  

OG punches him and Grande II fires up twice. II chops OG up. II walks up the buckles and blockbusters him for 2. II chops OG in the corner and punches him. II rips up OG's mask.

OG misses a 2nd rope plancha and is tilt-a-whirl dropped face first on the steps. OG is busted open. II dropkicks his head into the steps. II jumps on him in the ring and hits mounted punches. II punches OG in the head then PK's him for 2.

II throws chairs in the ring. II puts a chair between the buckles. OG germans II. II chairs a chair into OG for 2. Julio and Bruto Creedo come out and pulls II out. II is double spinebustered on a table. The table doesn't break then Julio slams II through it.

OG top rope diving headbutts II for 2. Rayo and Bravo Americano come down and fight The Creedo's. Rayo hits The Creedo's with a kendo stick. Bravo jumps off the balcony onto all 3 of them. 

Grande OG points at the blind comedian that he attacked. He grabs him and the blind guy hits him with his cane. II blockbusters OG from the apron to the floor. OG koppo kicks II off the apron. 

A band member gets in the ring and hit OG with a guitar. It's Pimpinella Escarlata. II spear OG for 2. II grabs a bullrope. OG low blows II. OG whips Grande with the bullrope. OG curbstomps him on a chair for 2. OG wraps the rope around II's mouth. Grande II's girlfriend Andrea is then brought down to the front row. She screams and cheers on II. 

OG goes up to Andrea. They argue. Andrea shows OG that she has a ticket. II hits OG from behind then whips him with the rope. II blade runner ddt's OG on a chair for 2.   

OG and II trade punches on their knees. They get up and keep punching. II is belly to belly suplexed into the buckles. OG top rope moonsaults him for 2. II's leg is banged off the post and OG chairs it.

OG ankle locks II. II rolls him into la cavernaria. OG backrolls and does an ankle lock. OG grounds him with it. II teases tapping out but escapes. II flips him on a backdrop. II pulls down his straps. II runs the ropes and his leg gives out. 

OG hits a chaos theory german for 2. OG misses a flying move and goes into the buckles. II fires up. They get up together. II running headbutts him and pins him.

Thoughts: It was a classic and easily is the match of the year for 2026. It may even be the best match of the decade so far. It lived up to all expectations and it had very high expectations after having such a great build. It had blood, a hot crowd, run-in's from multiple people and various call backs. It got tons of time. It was filled with drama and they did some great spots teasing that Grande II would lose. It was the best match of both guys careers and probably the best match any guy will ever have. It's an absolute must see and checked every box you could want. This was an all-timer and is going to be a bout people reference when they want to know how to do a mask vs mask match. 

II celebrates with Andrea, Pimpi and Los Americanos. OG brings his kid in a mask to the apron and talks. He says he put on this mask to learn the art of lucha so he could beat all the luchadores he hated. He says he learned everything there was to learn about lucha and Mexico. He says he stands here not as a mask but as a man. He says he could not overcome the Mexican spirit tonight. He says he will always be The Original El Grande Americano. II stares down with him. Grande OG says Grande II is the only El Grande Americano from now on. 

El Grande Original takes off his mask and it's Chad Gable. We get "Gable" chants. He says his name is Chad Gable. He says he was born 3/8/1986 in Minneapolis. He says he wrestled in the Olympic Games and has been a pro wrestler for 13 years. He shows off his family. Gable says he doesn't known when or how but says he will be back in AAA. Gable then gives Grande II his mask and tells Grande II this is his. The crowd chants "Thank you, Gable".

Gable then walks to the back with his name and info on the tron. Grande II is held on Rayo and Bravo's shoulders as confetti sprays. Grande II and his girlfriend hug, kiss and dance in the ring. Grande II then poses on the stage with Grande OG's mask with fireworks and smoke.

Overall thoughts: As I said last week with last week's show, as long as they got the main event stuff right, nothing else really mattered. That was the case here. The main was a classic and a "how to" guide on how to do a mask vs mask match. It had everything you could want and ask for. It was cinematic wrestling and some of wrestling at it's best. I didn't like Kid/Fenix that much. Wagner/Vikingo and The Raiders/The Clowns were both fine. This was a must see show and you can't do much better than the main event. I'd give this a 9 out of 10 as the rest of the card could have been a little better, but the rating doesn't really matter. Go check this one out and watch all the build leading up to it so you can truly appreciate it in all of its glory.
