Mid-States Wrestling 11/2/2023 Season 1, Episode 1

Southern Heavyweight Title - Niles Plonk (c) vs Burt Cameron

Stephen E. is with Niles. Niles wristlocks him then Burt arm wringers him. Burt side headlocks him then shoulders him over. Burt side headlock takeovers him then Niles headscissors him. Burt side headlocks him again and Niles corner spears him. Burt's head is banged off the buckles.

Burt brings his face down onto his knee and hits a flying knee. Niles goes out to regroup and has a drink of wine. Niles pulls Burt's throat down over the top rope and lariats him. Niles does his grape stomp in the corner then throws Burt down by the hair.

We go to break and return. Niles fisherman suplexes Burt for 2. Burt slams him and gets pushed off the top by Stephen E. Niles then picks up the cheap pin and wins it.

I wouldn't start a season of a show off with a dirty finish but they did just that here. It was average for the most part and the dirty finish is never fun.

Niles says he's class and Burt is trash after.

Niles and Stephen E. are interviewed. Niles said he won the match fair and square and said Stephen E. had nothing to do with the victory. Stephen says Niles won this, not him. Stephen has a letter from his attorney asking MSW to cease and desist from attacking Stephen E. Stephen E. said he will pursue legal action if it doesn't stop right now. He said if anyone touches him, they will face civil and maybe criminal action. He said to consider yourself served.

Muy Macho vs Jason Jones

Macho wears a full blue bodysuit and mask. They trade wristlocks and Jones lariats him. Jones bangs Macho's head off the buckles then Macho flops down and rolls out. Macho goes under the ring and someone else in the mask pops out the other side. Macho hits bad corner spears then 2nd rope double axe handles him.

Macho chokes Jones over the ropes then the other Macho chokes Jones on the ropes. We go to break and return. Jones clubs on Macho's chest and throws Macho out. Macho goes under the ring then the other Macho comes in. Both Macho's end up in the ring at the same time. One Macho splashes the other on accident then that Macho flops and headbutts him in the nuts.

Jones running back elbows him then hits a bionic elbow. Jones stunners him and wins it.

It was weird with Muy Macho and his twin openly cheating and nobody doing anything about it. Macho should have been DQ'd. Jones is a slower wrestler and I'd really like to see more spirit from him.

The Ice Man does a promo. He says he's the coolest guy we will ever see and that's it.

The Ice Man vs Gary Roosevelt Graham

Ice gyrates as he takes off his ring robe. A fan yells "we don't wanna see that". Gary does his usual wild entrance where he runs around the ring. Gary charges at Ice and makes him grab the ropes.

Gary atomic drops Ice and manhattan drops him. Gary lariats him. Ice goes out and gets his head banged off of someone named Ernie. Ernie grabs Gary's foot then Ice punches and stomps on Gary. Ernie slaps Gary then Ice foot chokes Gary. 

Gary hits punches then Ice russian legsweeps him. Ice does a dance, does a suck it taunt and hits an elbow drop. Ice legdrops him. Gary comes off the 2nd rope with a forearm then lariats him. Gary headbutts him then grabs Ernie on the apron. Gary hits him then Ice hits an implant ddt for the win.

I didn't like this. Again like earlier, people were on the apron and the ref didn't really seem to care. Ice and Ernie aren't exactly a natural combination. Gary's punches aren't good and it's a real problem when that is most of his offense.

Overall thoughts: Not a good one here. The new season kicked off with a dirty finish and then the other two matches weren't much better with other shenanigans. I don't recommend this.
