AEW Rampage 2/9/2024

Best Friends (Trent Beretta, Orange Cassidy and Rocky Romero) vs The Undisputed Kingdom (Roderick Strong, Matt Taven and Mike Bennett)
4 of the 6 fight outside. OC throws his sunglasses at Strong. OC puts his hands in his pocket and dropkicks Taven/Mike. Cole is finally wheeled down to ringside by Wardlow in the wheelchair. Mike pounds and chops on Trent. Trent hits a meteora then Taven slams Rocky. Taven dropkicks Rocky then takes a jumping double knee.
Taven is laid over the top rope and Rocky double stomps him. Trent hits a sliding knee for 2. Trent germans Strong then Strong pulls him off the buckles with a backbreaker. Trent takes a suplex but Taven misses the top rope splash following it. Trent germans Mike and OC gets in. OC top rope crossbodies Taven then hits his stunner out of the suplex. OC ddt's Taven.
Mike spinebusters OC then Strong flying kicks Rocky. Trent tornado ddt's Strong then Taven 2nd rope kicks Trent. Taven spinning high kicks OC. OC superkicks him then Taven superkicks him. We go to PiP break and return. Mike hits OC low then OC takes a spike piledriver. Strong dropkicks Rocky through the ropes and Trent spears OC. Taven topes Trent. Trent takes a powerbomb + zig zag combo.
Rocky is the last man on his team left. He double topes Mike and Taven then sliced bread's Mike. Rocky hurricanrana's Taven. Rocky rewind kicks Mike then lariats Mike and Taven in the corners. Strong intercepts with a flying knee then hits a suplex into a backcracker.
It was a super fast pace trios match. Despite these two teams having enough hatred to start the fight outside, OC still found time to do his comedy pockets routine. I didn't love it was watchable.
Rocky takes a release suplex on chairs after.
The Young Bucks vs Mondo Rox and Robbie Lit
The Bucks are wearing their blood stained white suits and of course are going to try and wrestle in them because this has to be a joke. Matt stomps on Lit then rebound lariats Lit. Lit takes a catapult + enzugiri in the corner then Lit takes a top rope blockbuster onto Matt's knees. Nick wrestles with his hat on and throws his jacket at the camera.
Rox gets in and is hit. Rox takes a lariat then is kicked in the nuts. Rox then takes a bte trigger and is pinned.
This was typical AEW garbage with The Bucks resorting to over the top comedy/irony when all else fails.
The Bucks get on the mic after and complain that a fan called them by the wrong names. They act goofy and say to respect the EVP's. One of them then congratulates Sting and Darby and mock them. They say Sting and Darby are banged up after their big win and they say they are thinking about them and praying for them. They say they want to get their tag titles back and say they will fight on Dynamite. It's revealed they will face Top Flight on Dynamite. This gimmick is so bad that it makes me want The Young Bucks back.
We get a package on Orange Cassidy vs Tomohiro Ishii. They do a little package for Ishii which was fine.
Mistico vs Matt Sydal
They shake hands, after getting close to brawling earlier in the week. Mistico armdrags him and they legsweep each other. Mistico headflips. Mistico flips over Matt then Matt spinning headscissors him. Mistico flying headscissors him then topes him. Matt spinning heel kicks him then bow and arrows him. Matt sentons him then does a standing corkscrew moonsault.
We go to PiP break and return. Matt jumping knees him then hits an air raid crash. The two trade forearms and Matt jumping kicks him. Mistico spin kicks him then moonsaults off the top into Matt's feet. Mistico powerslams him. Matt gets enzugiri'd while up top then Mistico walk up the buckles spanish flies him to win it.
It was okay for what it was. I can't tell you how shocked I am that this one ended on a spanish fly. They ended it at the right time, so maybe AEW is learning.
Star Jr. got in Matt Menard's face after at the commentary booth.
Brian Cage and Prince Nana are interviewed. Cage said Hook won't get away with the hit and run wit hthe chair. Cage said Hook felt the rage of cage. Nana said Hook needs to read a book instead of hitting people with chairs. Nana says Cage is a machine. Cage isn't impressed Hook beat two guys and said he can do it tomorrow on Collision. He said these two can find out "Who better than Brian Cage?" and says it's nobody.
Willow Nightingale and Kris Statlander vs Saraya and Ruby Soho
Kris and Saraya trade wristlocks. Kris side headlocks her. Kris headstands out of a headscissors and basement dropkicks Saraya. Kris backdrops Saraya. Ruby's spinning headscissors on Willow is blocked. Willow russian legsweeps her into la escalera.
Willow fisherman suplexes Ruby for 2. Kris back elbows Ruby. Willow low crossbodies Ruby for 2. Willow hip attacks Ruby in the corner and Harley Cameron grabs Willow's foot. Saraya then knocks Willow off the buckles. Ruby has a problem with this for some reason and they argue.
We go to PiP break and return. Willow boots Saraya in the chest. Ruby and Kris go at it. Kris hits lariats on Ruby and running euros her. Kris flying knees Ruby then powerslams her. Ruby knees Kris in the head then Kris takes shots from both opponents. Willow charges at Saraya and is sent out then Saraya running knees Kris for 2.
Saraya superkicks Willow then Kris spinning lariats Saraya. Ruby hits a no future kick on Kris then Saraya hits Ruby on a failed double team. Willow double lariats both. Saraya and Kris trade shots then Kris high kicks her. Kris hits a blue thunder bomb for 2. Saraya jawbreakers Kris and goes to tag in Ruby, but Ruby walks away. Harley tries to stop Ruby and Ruby decks Harley. Saraya is shocked. Willow hits a doctor bomb on her and wins it.
It wasn't awful or anything and was mostly about the split between Ruby/Saraya/Harley. Good riddance to that group. It was one of the better efforts between these two teams.
Willow makes Stokeley shake her hand after then does a spinning hug on him.
Overall thoughts: It was a decent episode of Rampage. The trios opener wasn't perfect, but it was super fast paced with lots of action. Sydal/Mistico ended at the right time and the main was tolerable.
