Next week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/02/wwf-superstars-of-wrestling-621990.html
We're still at the Frank Erwin Center in Texas. Jesse Ventura celebrates Mr. Perfect being the new Intercontinental Champ while talking with Vince McMahon.
Today we have Hulk Hogan and Earthquake on The Brother Love Show, Jake Roberts, The Big Boss Man, Mr. Perfect and Rick Martel.
Jake Roberts vs Bob Bradley
They trade wristlocks and Bob is lifted up by the arm. Jake back elbows him then snapmares him. Jake hammerlocks him and Bad News Brown does an inset promo. He says he's going to make him pay and says something about Damien. Jake armlocks him then Bob kicks him while he's bent over. Bob clubs on him and does a backflip into a forearm.
Bob backflips again and is lariated over for it. Jake hits a ddt and pins him one finger as Bob has convulsions.
It was nice to see the jobber get a little in, though what he did get in didn't look that good. It was your usual squash otherwise with Jake really just doing armlocks before the finish.
Damian slides over Bob after.
The Hart Foundation vs Randy Neverman and Paul Diamond
Bret gives a kid his sunglasses as usual. Jim pushes over Paul then Paul side headlocks him. Jim slams Paul then shoulders him over. Randy gets in and is thrown across the ring. Bret snapmares Randy and we get an inset promo. The Hart Foundation say they have everything it takes to be champs except the belts around their waist. Bret says they will win their belts back.
Bret stomps Randy in the gut then backbreakers him. Jim clubs Randy then Randy takes the hart attack. Randy is then pinned.
It was a quick squash for the Hart's. Randy took a nice bump off the throw and Paul was bigger than either Hart Foundation member.
Mr. Perfect vs Sonny Blaze
Bobby Heenan is with Mr. Perfect, having just became his manager last week. Perfect shoves Sonny. Heenan says you spell happy and fortunate with "Mr. Perfect". He calls him the greatest wrestler in the WWF and says he's the perfect manager. Perfect backs up Sonny and tells him no one messes with him. Perfect knee lifts and chops him.
Sonny is choked over the top rope then boots him. Perfect uppercuts him and foot shoves him. Perfect calls him a piece of garbage and tells him to get up. He tells him he's not in here with a rookie, he's in here with Mr. Perfect. Perfect tells us that we are going to see a perfectplex, then he hits one for the win. He bangs Sonny's head off the mat after.
Sonny really took a whooping here in this squash. Perfect just roughed him up the whole time and talked trash before putting him away.
Rhythm and Blues vs Omar Atlas and Jim Brunzell
Jesse says Greg Valentine resembles Elvis. The Buschwhackers do an inset promo. I have no idea what they said and Jesse said he doesn't understand them either. Jim pushes Honky off on the lock-up attempt then hammerlocks and wristlocks him. Jim arm wringers him then Greg runs his hands through his hair. Greg hits elbows to the head and Jesse said when people say they see Elvis at Burger King, they are really seeing Greg. Greg dances around and Jim hits a nice dropkick on him. Jim messes up Greg's hair then atomic drops him.
Omar dropkicks Greg then misses the 2nd one. Greg elbow drops him then he and Honky club Omar. Omar takes a shot to the gut then takes a double back elbow. Omar takes a double backdrop and is pinned by Greg.
It was a quick and entertaining squash. Greg had fun here goofing off and Jim looked good.
Honky sings "Hunk Hunka Honky Love" while Greg plays the guitar. Jesse sings along at the commentary booth.
Koko B. Ware is eating WWF ice creams bar with Frankie. Koko says Frankie is supposed to share it and says the ice cream bar is fantastic.
The Brother Love Show with Hulk Hogan and Earthquake
Vince asks Jesse to go down to the Brother Love set with him. Hulk throws Love's tie in his face before posing. Quake is called out but only Jimmy Hart comes out. Hulk asks where's The Earthquake? Jimmy said Quake has a 105 degree temperature and isn't here under doctor's orders. Hulk grabs Jimmy by the suit and says he will be the only natural disaster if he doesn't bring out Quake. Jimmy calls Hulk a has-been then Quake chairs Hulk in the back. Hart mocks Hulk then Quake does Hulk's ear pose while standing on Hulk. Quake hits two butt drops as Hart says Hulk isn't the world champ and is nothing. Quake drops another butt drop on him then the refs come and break it up. The refs call for the paramedics and they put Hulk on a stretcher. Vince comes out during this and yells to pick him up and get him out of here in an unusual moment since Vince was only an announcer at this point. Arnold Skaaland and Renee Goulet are on the scene as well.
Rick "The Model" Martel vs Dale Wolfe
Rick nails Dale from behind and bangs his head off the buckles. Rick hits knees to the gut then back elbows him. Dale's head is banged off the buckles again then Rick stomps his back. Rick does an inset. He said he smells the way he feels. He says who needs confidence when you can have arrogance instead. Dale ducks under a leapfrog and hits dropkicks. Dale's hiptoss is blocked and he is thrown down by the hair.
Rick throws him on a slam then grabs his arrogance. The ref stops him then Rick hits more stomps. Rick backdrops him then puts him in the boston crab. Rick then wins it via submission.
It was a quick squash here with a bunch of stomps. Dale had a nice dropkick.
Rick Rude is training with Bobby Heenan. He said history repeats itself and he's the one and only man who beat him for a title. He said he's the one and only man who can beat him right now. Rick climbs a rope and Bobby said they are going all the way to the top. Rick says climbing to the top isn't an easy thing to do, but getting shoved to the bottom is not an easy thing to take. Rick says he will take his title.
The Big Boss Man vs Black Knight
Boss throws him back then shoulders him over twice. Knight runs at him and is thrown. Boss hits a big punch then back elbows him. Boss leg lariats him over the 2nd rope then pulls on his chin. Lord Alfred Hayes says Knight is in dire, dire trouble. Boss stands on his throat. Boss hits the sidewalk slam and gets the pin.
It was a quick squash. Oddly, Ted Dibiase wasn't brought up at all here.
The Big Boss Man handcuffs Knight to the ropes. He then throws him out while he's cuffed and hits and chokes him with his nightstick in a very non-babyface moment.
The Ultimate Warrior does a promo. He says he has a wound from the battles he and Rude have before. He commands his Warriors to tear the scar tissue off the wound, re-open the injury and let the poison flow. He says to do this so Rude can feel why they breathe. He says Rude will once again fall to the poison and power of the Warrior. I think he was referencing lose to Rude or feuding with him as the injury that was being re-opened.
Next week's show has Jim Duggan, Dino Bravo, Brutus Beefcake, Nikolai Volkoff vs Boris Zhukov, Dusty Rhodes, an update on Hulk Hogan and The Brother Love Show with Rick Rude. Vince does this in a serious voice without any hype behind it.
Overall thoughts: This version of this episode didn't have the various local promos on it, which likely were on the original broadcast. This cut about 6-7 minutes off the show. The Hulk angle was fine and Vince taking control the situation had to be real interesting for people who didn't know he was running things. The squashes kind of were what they were and we didn't get any non-squashes here. The Big Boss Man was a bad face here beating the crap out of Black Knight with a nightstick. I didn't think it was the greatest show ever as there wasn't a lot going on here aside from the Hulk segment.
