ECPW Hudson Valley Fully Charged Episode #63 1/30/2024
This is East Coast Pro Wrestling Hudson Valley TV. They seem to mostly be from the southern New York area.
We have two announcers here. There is no name graphic but I believe the guy with the longer hair is Matt Lynch and the guy with the 8-ball is Kurt K. Klein. One of them who is doing a Jewish gimmick is playing with a magic 8-Ball and asks if the one wrestler will throw something or not.
ECPWHV Viral Title - "Beautiful" Buddy Tomas (c) vs "Timid" Tamir Gibbs vs Atillo Aprile
The heel announcer really rips into Aprile, calling him a fat tub of lard and saying Terry Funk would be rolling in his grave if he knew Aprile was doing a tribute to him. Aprile has a "Buddy Sucks Eggs" t-shirt on which is a takeoff of the "Dusty Sucks Eggs" t-shirt.
Buddy comes to the ring with an umbrella and his music is "Hot Stuff". Buddy misses a double lariat then Aprile slams Tamir onto him. Tamir and Aprile shake hands and Tamir rolls through a lariat. Tamir hurricanrana's Aprile then handspring back elbows him.
Tamir flips onto the apron then is slingshotted in by Aprile. Tamir gets on Aprile's back then is thrown over. Buddy clips Aprile then bangs his leg off the mat. Buddy stands on Aprile's knee on the ropes then bangs it off the apron edge. Buddy bangs Aprile's leg off the post as the announcer says "break his friggin leg".
Tamir rolls up Buddy then armdrags him. Tamir hurricanrana's him then armdrags him off the hiptoss. Tamir hits a bulldog off the casadora for 2. Tamir runs at Buddy and Buddy opens up his umbrella on him, distracting him. Buddy russian legsweeps Tamir with the umbrella then goes for the pin with it.
Buddy chokes Tamir with the umbrella but the ref can't see it because the umbrella blocks the way. Buddy then chokes him and hides it with the umbrella. Tamir jaw breakers Buddy then Buddy does a side of the head kick and a neckbreaker. Buddy running face kicks Tamir in the corner then facewash kicks him.
Buddy hits mounted shots on Tamir then misses a legdrop and an elbow drop. Tamir hits lariats then shotgun dropkicks him. They trade forearms and Buddy pump kicks him. Tamir high kicks him then takes a lariat. Aprile comes back with a chair after a long time and hits Buddy with it.
Tamir hits shots on Aprile then Aprile kicks him in the chest. Aprile chokeslams him for 2. Aprile hits shots on Tamir then hits something like an F-5 without the spin on him. Buddy dropkicks Aprile in the back, sending him out of the ring. Tamir superplexes Buddy and Tamir cradles him. Buddy apparently has the leverage on the pin attempt and wins it.
This was a long one here going close to 15 minutes. Aprile went out early and then disappeared for most of this match. Tamir and Buddy had a respectable outing against each other here and the stuff with the umbrella was something different. It was hard to get a good look at the finish due to the camera angles and that finish didn't really fit this one. The heel Jewish announcer here really ripped into Aprile all match long, calling him fat, pointing out his bald spot and just basically doing everything you shouldn't do as a heel. That guy really took over this match and was super distracting.
Migs vs Bubba
The two compete for cheers from the crowd. Migs refuses to lock up then hits him in the gut. They trade wristlocks. Bubba makes Migs clap his hands then Migs eye pokes him. Bubba hits some punches then Migs running knees him. Migs chokes Bubba with the ring skirt then Bubb's neck is pulled down over the top.
Migs la magistrals Bubb then neckbreakers him for 2. Migs chinlocks Bubba then Bubba shoulders him over. Migs spinebusters Bubba for 2. Migs rakes Bubba's eyes with his feet then hits punches. Migs suplexes Bubba for 2 then argues the count with the ref while kneeling on Bubba's throat.
Migs top rope moonsaults Bubba for 2. Migs grabs a weapon and a girl named Miss Stephanie takes the weapon from Migs. Migs grabs Steph then Bubba hits a slop drop (his version of Sean O'Haire's inverted death valley driver). Bubba then picks up the win.
I thought it was a decent match with good basic heel work from Migs here. Everything looked good and made sense.
ECPWHV Title - Lumberjack Match - Captain Pain (c) vs "Dynamic" Drew Marston
Pain is pretty over here. They go face to face and Drew hits shots. Pain returns fire then Drew is slingshotted in. Pain shoulders him over then is pulled over the top. Drew poses then Pain shoulders him over. Drew asks for a test of strength then cheapshots Pain.
Pain spinebusters Drew for 2. Buddy trips Pain up and Drew dropkicks him out. Pain gets beat up on by the lumberjacks then Drew hits corner attacks. Drew kneels on Pain over the 2nd rope then Drew 2nd rope inside to outside swinging dropkicks him.
Drew takes a big back body drop over the top and is thrown back in by the lumberjacks. Drew eye rakes and jumping knees Pain. Drew ddt's Pain. Drew springboards and takes a uranage off of it. They trade shots. Pain lariats and back elbows him then hits a blue thunder bomb.
They fight on the apron then Drew is ddt'd on it. The lumberjacks fight each other and beat up the two wrestlers. Drew 2nd rope diving codebreakers Pain for 2. Drew goes up top and Pain gorilla presses him outside onto the lumberjacks. Pain then dives onto the lumberjacks.
Drew gets in first and superkicks him. Buddy tries to hit Pain with the title belt but nails his ally Drew instead. Timid Tamir comes in and top rope crossbodies Buddy then Pain black hole slams Drew.
I liked this one. Drew was a good heel here and they had a decent match. The finishing stretch was pretty well done and they made nice use of the lumberjacks in the finish.
Pain celebrates with the face lumberjacks after.
Overall thoughts: It really wasn't a bad show at all. All 3 matches were watchable and the last two matches were solid. The commentary team is very old school and was the story here. The face announcer is pretty good. The heel announcer has potential, but he needs to tone it down, he needs to stop going after people's physical appearances and he needs to focus more on trying to get the wrestlers over.
I've actually heard of this group, but I've never been to any of their shows or heard of anyone on their roster. When I lived in Syracuse, NY there was a bit of a rivalry between them and the local Syracuse based promotion called 2CW. It never went anywhere other than talking smack about each other, and fans at 2CW shows would bring signs that said "Extremely Crappy Pro Wrestling." But, it's cool that they're still around.
ReplyDeleteThat's funny. There really seems to be hundreds of indies out there that nobody outside of the area knows.
