New Japan Pro Wrestling 2/19/2024 CMLL Fantastica Mania 2024 Day 7

I saw all but one match here: 

La Fuerza Poblana (Pegasso & Stigma) & Francesco Akira vs. Brillante Jr., Ryusuke Taguchi & YOH

Brill and Stig start us off. Brill shoulders him over and handstand walks into a spinning headscissors. Stig hurricanrana's him anbd they try to dropkick each other at the same time before doing stereo headflips. RT and Peg go at it. RT hits a flying headbutt then is armdragged several times. Peg goes to dive but RT lays down on the floor to avoid it.

Akira shoulders Yoh over then Yoh armdrags him. Akira flying headscissors him and dropkicks him. Brill is sent into the post then takes a sidelam + legdrop and a double stomp. RT is tripped into a legdrop and RT's mask is pulled off. No DQ for that though, of course. Yoh takes a codebreaker > backcracker > double stomp. RT goes to sit with the fans then Yoh dropkicks Akira in the back.

Yoh and RT hit stereo hip attacks. RT's mask comes off then Akira step up enzugiri's him. Peg canadian destroyers Brill then RT and Yoh hit stereo hip attacks and plancha's. Brill hits a shadow bomb then split leg corkscrew moonsaults Peg to win it.

I didn't like there being no DQ when RT got his mask taken off here. Other than that it was a decent opener with various flippy moves. 

OKUMURA vs. Dark Panther

Oku wristlocks him and Dark rolls out, tripping him. Oku is grabbed under the legs then powers up and sunset flips him. Dark superkicks him then plancha's him outside. Mimia Shimoda hits dark right in front of the ref, they try a double team and Mima is hit. Dark hurricanrana's Oku on the floor.

Dark hits a neat reverse 619 and they forearm each other. They corner lariat each other then Dark is pushed off the buckles to the floor. Oku cannonballs him off the apron. Oku cutters him while he's on the 2nd rope for 2. Oku michinoku drivers him then Dark tilt-a-whirl backbreakers him.

Dark shoulders him over then topes him. Oku gets up and takes two more tope's. Dark 2nd rope dropkicks him then Mima gets on the apron. Dark grabs Mima and suplexes her in the ring. Mima wore a dress and her underwear showed. Dark does a la magistral variation on Oku then flapjacks him. Dark misses a double jump dropkick then Oku running euros him. Oku iconoclasms him then hits a cutter to win it.

It was fine for what it was. The Mima spot was obviously planned to be comedic and it worked. I didn't like her interfering in front of the ref and nothing being done about it.  

Hechicero vs. Atlantis Jr.

 

Atlantis takes him down by the leg then Hech does an armbar. Atlantis flips out of a snapmare and is shouldered over. Atlantis sunset flips him and Hech jack knife pin attempts him. Hech flips into an armlock then headscissors him. Atlantis hurricanrana's Hech.

They trade shots and Atlantis superkicks him. Atlantis rolls him up to the outside. Atlantis topes him. Hech dropkicks Atlantis in the knees from the apron then Hech does a big suicide dive. They get back in and Hech springboard elbows him.

Hech rolls him up and does a nice trip into a roll-up. Hech then spins and twists Atlantis' legs up. Hech dives at him on the ropes and flips over then takes a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Hech dives at him on the ropes and ends going out to the floor. Atlantis then flips over the top buckle to dive on Hech.

Atlantis rolls him into a wheelbarrow german. Hech step up knees him in the corner. Hech comes off the ropes and is caught with a powerbomb for 2. Atlantis single leg crabs him and rips his tights. Hech sunset flips him into a la escalara variation then pushes his knee into the mat. Hech tries to crossbody him but only gets the ropes then Atlantis superkicks him. Atlantis goes for a running knee but is rolled up off of it. Atlantis then flying knees him. Atlantis hits a top rope frogsplash on Hech's back then does one to his chest and wins it.

It went on a little too long but it was one of the better bouts Atlantis has had. The two matched up pretty well and he's one of the few guy on this tour who seemed ready and able to take of Hech's submissions. I liked his dive over the buckle. My one real gripe with this is that Hech would fly in the air, often clearly at nothing then do a bump off of it. That's not believable.

Hiroshi Tanahashi, Rocky Romero, Soberano Jr. & Tiger Mask vs. El Desperado, MUSASHI, Templario & Volador Jr.

Vol and Rocky shake hands. Vol backs him up on the ropes and hugs him. Vol handsprings on the ropes and Rocky hits corner lariats. Rocky hits a rewind kick. Vol is slammed and Tana 2nd rope flip dives him. Vol avoids a double temp and Temp walks the top rope hitting a double crossbody on Rocky and Tana. Temp double springboard dropkicks Tana.

Tana is tripped into a double basement dropkick. 4 of the wrestlers start grabbing each other by the stomach fat then Tiger takes a double spinebuster + double elbow drop. Musashi chops Tana then is slapped. Tana dragon screws him.

Sob and Temp trade shots and Vol hits Sob from the apron. Sob is stomped by Vol and Temp. Sob avoids a 2v1 then walk up the ropes dropkicks vol. Sob hurricanrana's Despy out and Temp blocks Sob's dive. Sob enzugiri's Temp from the apron then top rope tornillo's him for 2.

Temp wheelbarrow germans him. Despy stomps on Sob then Sob step up enzugiri's him. Tiger hits kicks on Despy then butterfly suplexes him. Tiger does an AT lock and Despy ropebreaks. Tiger hits a tiger driver on Despy for 2. Tana hits a twist and shout on Musashi then plancha's him. Rocky and Vol trade forearms then Vol is flipped to the outside. Rocky then topes him.

Temp flips Sob and is hurricanrana'd off of it. Sob then fosbury flops Temp. Tiger crucifixes Despy then Despy crucifixes him to win it.

It was a lot of people coming in for a spot or two and then going back out. It was fine for what it was with everyone getting a highlight or two in.

Rocky grabbed the mic after. He said Sob and Temp were strong on their own but he can be the strongest of all time with them. He then asks to form a team.

Ultimo Guerrero vs. Mistico

They take a bit to get going and Mistico armdrags him. Ultimo trips him then surfboards him. Ultimo teases leaving then comes in and back elbows Mistico. Mistico handsprings into the ropes then flying headscissors him out. Mistico jumps over the top and hurricanrana's him outside. Mistico is then sent hard into the post.

Ultimo boots him in the head and legsweeps him. Ultimo then baseball slides him off the apron. Ultimo teases ripping the mask then Mistico springboard hurricanrana's him. Mistico topes him twice and hits a kicks to the head inside.

Mistico hurricanrana's him then Ultimo lariats him. They trade corner lariats and Mistico superkicks him. Ultimo sits on the top rope then Ultimo gordbusters him from there. Mistico's hurricanrana is blocked and he is 2nd rope powerbombed. Mistico hurricanrana's him for 2 then hits la mistica. Ultimo rolls him up off of it for 2.

Mistico springboard crossbodies him then he is crotched up top. Ultimo reverse superplexes him off the top then Mistico hits la mistica to win it.

It was okay up until the last part of this where they started no selling 2nd and top rope moves.

Stuka Jr. vs. Mascara Dorada

Dorada does some flips early then superkicks Stuka. Dorada walks up the buckles and hits a dive on young boys when Stuka moves. Dorada's head is banged off chairs then his head is banged off a post. Dorada is popped up and dropped then face kicked. Stuka corner lariats him and boots him.

Dorada gets booted in tree of woe then is back body dropped. Stuka rips Dorada's mask up then takes off a turnbuckle pad. Dorada flips off the buckles and sends Stuka into the exposed buckle. Dorada then tope con hilos off a stage and hits a 450 inside for 2.

Dorada goes up top again then is superplexed. Stuka flipping neckbreakers him then brainbusters him for 2. Stuka rips at the mask more then slams him on the floor. Dorada then tilt-a-whirl backbreakers him on the floor. Dorada handsprings off the ropes and does a twisting huricanrana. Stuka casadora slams him for 2. They chest slap flurry each other.

Dorada superkicks him out then corkscrew moonsaults him outside. Dorada then running ssp's him and hits a top rope tornillo armdrag. Stuka tilt-a-whirl backbreakers him then hits an attitude adjustment outside through a table. Stuka then blind dives on him outside off the top. Stuka hits a top rope splash then Dorada hits an electric chair cutter on him. Dorada top rope ssp's him to win it.

It was long and just a spotfest. There was little wrestling and selling here.

Overall thoughts: The top two matches weren't any good with selling not being important in either while the other matches were okay. Atlantis vs Hechicero was probably the best thing on here. It probably was the best effort of the whole tour though. I wouldn't recommend this one.
