Mid-States Wrestling 2/2/2024 Season 1 Episode 14

Mid-States Wrestling 2/2/2024 Season 1 Episode 14

MSW has a cool WWF All-American Wrestling style logo.

A girl goes up to some kind of puppet and buys a shirt for $50. Burt Cameron asks the puppet how their sales are going. The puppet says they sold nothing and Bert questions it as he just saw a sale go down.

Dred Roberts vs Burt Cameron

Dred side headlocks him then shoulders him over. Dred stands on his throat and is tripped. Burt knee drops him and goes up and over in the corner. Dred dives into the 2nd buckle and then hits a nice face kick. Drer corner chops him then chokes him on the ropes.

Dred elbows him as he lays on the apron then misses a legdrop on it. Bert bangs Dred's head off of his knee then Dred throws him across the ring. Dred misses a splash then lariats him. Burt jumping knees him and spinebusters him. Burt hits a twisting suplex and wins it.

It was a shorter but decent match. No real issues with this one here. Dred's missed legdrop on the apron looked like it really hurt and I liked his head first bump into the 2nd buckle. Burt's finisher looked good here.

"The Silverback" Big Joe Helms does a promo. He said legalized violence and the best competition is what he's here for.

"Handsome" Scott Hansen vs "The Silverback" Big Joe Helms

Scott has a nice leopard fur robe and comes to the ring with acomb and mirror. Joe comes to the ring with spike shoulder pads with skulls on it and a cool skull helmet with horns. He also does kind of wear some Legion of Doom style tights, but he looks great with it. Scott asks for them to give him someone else. He says he's not wrestling this guy then he jumps him from behind.

Scott hits boots in the corner then hits a nice corner splash. Scott hits knees to the gut. They trade shots. Scott goes for an irish whip but can't move him. Joe throws him hard into the buckles and Scott bumps for it.

Joe hits big chops and dropkicks him in the gut. Joe hits a big chokeslam and wins it.

It was short but I liked it. Joe's got a good look with cool entrance gear and is really over as their local powerhouse. Keep an eye out for this guy and he has potential to move on to better things. Scott was fine here as the heel, trying to get him from behind then eventually getting beaten.

MSW Tag Team Title Tournament Semi-Finals - The Villians (Tim Rockwell and Big Metal Thrash) vs Toxic Masculinity (Johnny Lightning and Johnny Dynamite)

Heavy Metal Thrash

Tim Rockwell

Johnny Lightning has the lighter hair, Johnny Dynamite has the darker hair

Tim Rockwell has a yellow crowbar with him named "Shirley". This is part of a tournament to crowd the first MSW tag champs. Lightning and Tim lock up. Lightning clean breaks him. We go to break and return.

Tim takes a double arm wringer and chop. Lightning neckbreakers him then elbow drops him. Thrash pulls down Dynamite by the hair then Tim stomps Dynamite. Thrash back elbows Dynamite then chops him. Thrash running powerslams Dynamite for 2.

Thrash pounds on Dynamite then belly to belly suplexes him for 2. Tim and Dynamite trade punches. Dynamite's arm is grabbed by Thrash to block a punch then Tim punches Dynamite. Tim running knees Dynamite in the corner.

We get a "Thrash is trash" chant and Thrash splashes Dynamite. Dynamite and Tim double lariat each other down. Trhash and Lightning are tagged in. Lightning hits shots on the heels and lariats Tim over. Thrash takes stereo double punches then the faces hit running back elbows on their opponents. Dynamite fakes a superkick and Lightning rolls up Thrash to win it.

It was another shorter match that should have gone longer. It was average for the most part but I did like the fake out on the superkick which lead to the pin.

Overall thoughts: The show looked great here. They have very professional graphics and the ring looks nice. I would honestly say it looked better than ROH on Sinclair did, which is impressive for how small this company is.

It was 30 minutes long and we got three matches. All 3 matches were short. I thought the Joe Helms vs Scott Hansen match was the best thing on here and Joe really looks like he could move onto better things.

I'd say the show was average for the most part, but it was a quick 30 minutes and an easy watch. I'd be up for checking out another MSW show.
