WWE NXT Level Up 2/2/2024

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/01/wwe-nxt-level-up-1262024.html

Hank Walker and Tank Ledger vs Tyson Dupont and Tyriek Igwe

Byron says its time for a little "hanky-tanky". Dupont and Igwe have a graphic for their nameplate that I don't know if they had before. They are also wearing armbands.

Igwe and Hank lock up. Hank side headlocks him and they collide with shoulders. Igwe dropkicks him and Hank slams him. Tank slingshot splashes Igwe then bangs his head off the buckles. Tank back elbows him then takes a face kick.

Tank takes a side slam into a Dupont splash. Hank shoulders over Dupont then Tank sentons Dupont. Hank hits a nice lariat on Dupont. Hank and Tank bang their opponents back together and hit stereo world's strongest slams. Dupont sends Hank into the buckles then hits something like a running euro.

Igwe gutwrench suplexes Hank for 2. Hank punches Igwe and Dupont corner splashes Hank. Dupont locks up Hank's arm. They trade punches. Tank gets in and hits lariats on Dupont. Tank atomic drops Dupont then 2nd rope shoulders him. Tank fallway slams Igwe quickly then Dupont spinning punches Tank in the gut. Tank takes a double team backdrop + press. Hank is lariated over the top then Tank full-nelson bombs Igwe. Igwe takes a double team powerslam move and is pinned.

It wasn't the greatest match ever but it was a solid heavyweight match with lots of power and collisions going on here. There were no boring moments here.

Brooks Jensen is interviewed. He said Fallon and Briggs are doing what's right for them and tonight, he does what's right for him. He said he doesn't know what it is but said maybe it starts with Dante Chen tonight. He said Chen is a great competitor and well-focused, but he's in his way.

Blair Davenport vs Carlee Bright

Blair has only been on this show one other time and that was in June against Kelani Jordan. Carlee has 1970's sounding music and they talk about how positive she is.

They lock up. Blair is armdragged and Carlee smiles and claps. They do a double knuckle lock. Carlee trips her and is flipped over. They each get a pin attempt in. Blair side headlocks her then hits a big forearm. Carlee flying headscissors her. Carlee is popped up in the corner and knee'd.

Blair battering rams her in the gut. Carlee armdrags her out of the abdominal stretch attempt and sunset flips her. Blair gutbusters her over the knee then corner spears her. Blair cobra twists her then rolls her up for 2. Blair twists her neck then throws her back.

Carlee blocks a stomp then flying double chops her. Carlee hits a nice dropkick then crossbodies her for 2. Blair pulls Carlee down by the hair then 2nd rope double stomps her back. Blair hits a kamigoye and wins it.

It wasn't that good and it went longer than it needed to. There's some NXT rookies who are super athletic and Carlee is not one of them. She doesn't botch, but nothing of hers looks that great yet minus a dropkick. She's good looking though and that may be her greatest strength at the moment. It's only her 2nd match on TV though and not botching anything or embarrassing yourself is a success.

Brooks Jensen vs Dante Chen

Brooks actually gets a chant from the crowd. He throws his hat at Byron. Chen just has a yellow line of paint down his face instead of the white face paint he had on Main Event. The announcers mention it's a different look for him and par of being a warrior.

Chen rolls him up for 2 then Brooks flying headscissors him. Chen armdrags him then Brooks headscissors him. Chen hits another armdrag then hiptosses him. Chen keylocks him then hits a hiptoss. Brooks upkicks him out of it then spinebusters him.

They say Brooks has a locker with pictures of The Freebirds, Brad Armstrong and Mr. Wrestling. They say he is trying to learn from past superstars. Chen is thrown into the buckles hard then Brooks butt drops his back. Chen is thrown into the buckles more then Brooks goes into the buckles chest first.

Chen hits shots on him then 2nd rope shoulders him. Chen pump kicks him for 2. Chen slips off the 2nd rope then Brooks hits a jackhammer. Brooks 2nd rope knee drops him, which they say is "all the way from Redburn, Alabama" and Brooks wins it.

It was an acceptable and very basic match minus Chen's slip. They covered it well though.

Overall thoughts: The main was acceptable and the opener was somewhat good. The women's match was not that good. I wouldn't recommend this one.
