Mid-States Wrestling 2/9/2024 Season 1, Episode 15

Colton Theron Vaught does a promo. He said hard work means talent and when doesn't work hard. He said he is working everyday to make sure he is beating everyone. But he says he was blessed with talent which is why he's on top. He said there is no one in this country that is going to beat him.

Oh man is Mr. Nasty a trip. He's doing a Prince gimmick. He said he can't stand a sucker and said he will pimp slap everyone's mama at home. He then tells a fan he doesn't know what he's clapping for and said he doesn't know how people can live here. I've never really seen a wrestler utilize the walk to the ring as promo time like he did here. Colton has some tights that are straight from the 80's and great. He said he does what he wants and loves what he does.

CTV is super over. The crowd chants "Purple Rain" at Nasty. CTV trips him then Nasty slaps him. Nasty headlocks him then CTV hits a high dropkick. CTV spinning headscissors him. Nasty goes out and says, "pimp down, pimp in distress". Nasty eye pokes him from the outside then pop-up powerbombs him on the apron.

We go to break and return. CTV flips out of a move and hits kicks. Nasty boots him then CTV hurricanrana's him. CTV hits lariats then flying lariats him. CTV back elbows him and flips over him. CTV then hits a nice german. CTV does a top rope frogsplash for 2. Nasty ducks a pumping knee and hits a big slap. Nasty misses a booty call running hip attack and CTV jumping knees him for the win.

This was a fun little match here. Mr. Nasty's a great talent who is going places if he ever gets spotted. He's just a full on character with a lot of personality. CTV was a good face here and had a lot of help from a crowd that loves him. They kept this one short and CTV has a lot of fire behind his moves. 

"The Connoisseur" Niles Plonk (pronounced Plon-Kay) is interviewed with Stephen E. Niles says Gary Graham is nothing to him. He said he beat him a million times and Stephen said it will be a million and one after this time. Niles said he's all about sophistication and Gary is about trash. He said he brings honor to a title and Gary brings trash to the title. Stephen said they go out and win tonight. He said Gary Graham will hear 1-2-3 when it's all done with. This was a decent promo.

Southern Heavyweight Championship - "The Connoisseur" Niles Plonk with Stephen E. vs Gary Roosevelt Graham

 

Niles drinks wine and Stephen said everyone hit the lottery as they get to learn about Niles. Niles said he's here to teach us a lesson in culture. Gary comes to the ring with a chain and runs around it in a wild fashion. Gary then runs around inside the ring and rides the ropes. Niles said he isn't getting in the ring until the ref removes the chain.

We go to break and return. We may have joined this in progress, but I'm not sure. They say Stephen E is a former MSW champ. Gary and Niles lock up. The ref breaks them up in the corner. Gary winds up with a fist and Niles tells him to open that hand up, saying we aren't here to fight. Niles wristlocks him and Gary reverses it. Niles snapmares him and Gary rolls through with him.

Gary is tripped and front face locked. Gary rolls out and gets Niles' back. Niles back elbows him then is tripped into the 2nd buckle. Gary pretends to pee on him like a dog. Niles slides out and said "I didn't get peed on" to a fan. Niles is thrown in and clubs on Gary. Niles rakes him with his foot then bangs Gary's head off the buckles.

Gary blocks it and bangs Niles' head off the buckles. Gary hits punches then is thrown out. Stephen E. yells at Gary, calling him a bum. Gary's neck is pulled down over the top rope and Stephen E. stomps Gary outside. Niles chokes Gary over the 2nd rope then Stephen E. punches Gary.

Niles hits a knee to the gut then elbow drops him. Niles hits mounted punches. He goes to stomp on him in the corner but its blocked. Gary hits punches on the apron then is crotched up top. Niles gets crotched with him.

They lariat each other down at the same time twice then collide with crossbodies in the air. Both are down. Stephen E. gets on the apron and the ref ejects him from ringside. Niles tells Gary he hates him then Gary hits punches. Gary lariats him then back body drops him. Gary flying forearms him then rolls him up for 2. Gary hits an air raid crash (called the graham cracker crunch) and Gary wins!

I thought it went a little longer than it needed to and it was very simple. Gary's a likeable face but I think his punches could use some work. Niles is a good heel who doesn't break character and knows what he's doing.

Overall thoughts: MSW is a good promotion with some good talent and good production. The first match was good with Colton being a good face and Mr. Nasty being a good heel. Mr. Nasty is destined for better things if the right eyes ever see him as he's full of personality and has a good gimmick. The main was basic and a little longer than it needed to be. Niles Plonk is good talent though with a good gimmick. I wouldn't recommend this one, but it was a fine half-hour of wrestling.
