NOTE - As you may or may not know, there were multiple version of basically all wrestling shows during the territory days. Mostly, it would just be different promos. However this one didn't have The Bushwhackers vs Black Bart and Kent Carlson on it. Whether that's by design or by error, I don't know. I was able to find The Maple Leaf Wrestling version of this show and it had that match along with different promos than the US version had. I included them and it's a real trip to see a completely different WWF world where Billy Red Lyons is the WWF Event Center host and not Sean Mooney.

On the Maple Leaf Wrestling version of this show, Vince says Jesse is wearing clean clothes. Jesse said he is wearing black because Hulkamania is dead. Jesse said he's going to the funeral.

Brutus Beefcake vs Jim Ruby

 

They say Jim might be the recipient of a new hairstyle and has a lot of hair to cut. Brutus gets big pops from the girls and backs up Jim in the corner. Brutus slams him down then does a jumping stomp. Brutus snapmares him and stomps him again. Jim's head is banged off the buckles. Brutus does an inset promo. He said he has everything to gain and nothing to lose against Mr. Perfect. He said Perfect has everything to lose including his pride and hair.

Brutus hits corner punches and Jim flops down. Brutus signals for the sleeper hold then puts it on. Jim is put to sleep and Brutus picks up the win.

This was a quick squash with no real highlights.

Jesse said the kids in the audience look like they got a haircut from Brutus. Brutus cuts off some of Ruby's hair, being an awful face. Brutus then puts the hair on Jim.

WWF Update

Mean Gene shows up clips of Earthquake attacking Hulk Hogan last week on The Brother Love Show. Gene says Earthquake may have cost Hulk his career as he promised. We then see Jimmy Hart and Earthquake do a promo. Hart said Quake said he would get Hulk, hurt him and put him out of wrestling and he's out. Quake says Hulk is done forever and says Hulkamania is dead. Gene says this injury to Hulk hit everyone hard, especially Tugboat. Tug said he's never seen anything like and said Hulk felt pain in his heart and head, not physical pain. Tug said Hulk has never let anyone down. He said now it's the time for us to give back to Hulk and let him know we feel about him. Gene said he concurs and said Hulk needs our help. Gene said he developed a friendship with Hulk and considers him a friend. He said they had a lot of great years and asks us to write to Hulk. Gene is all teared up like Hulk just died and said he can't do it. They really tried to sell us on this one to the point of being silly, but it was 1990.

The Orient Express vs Paul Roma and Greg Frent

 

Jesse said he believes Hulkamania is dead. He said you run the risk of hurting yourself every time in wrestling and said Hulk's time ran out.

Tanaka hits punches and Roma charges chest first into the corner. Sato lariats Roma. The Orient Expres do an inset promo. Fuji said he's mad and will turn his men loose on The Rockers. He said they will pay. Tanaka hits punches and chops on Roma then throat thrusts him.

Roma's head is banged off the buckles then he lariats Sato. He decks Tanaka then does a nice back body drop and dropkick. Jesse said he can't believe this then Roma backbreakers Tanaka. Roma misses an elbow drop. Tanaka superkicks Greg in the gut then does his turn around forearm on him. Sato ligerbombs Greg and wins it.

It was a quick but good squash. Roma and The Orient Express all looked good here. The Orient Express are always one of the highlights of these squashes. Sato's just so easy to buy as a deadly heel.

WWF Event Center with Sean Mooney

Sean does a last minute hype job for the 6/2/1990 Boston Garden show that was happening that night.

Ted Dibiase does a promo with Virgil. He said anyone who passes up the wealth he did must be a total fool. He said Boss Man crossed the wrong man. He said he cuffed him to the top rope and gave him a taste of his own medicine. He said those were Boss Man's cuffs though and next time, Boss Man won't have a key.

The Rockers do a promo. They walk about Wrestlemania VI. Shawn said they have a score to settle. Marty said they burned his eyes with salt. They said they can outwrestle anyone and will show they can knock anyone's teeth in starting with them.

Maple Leaf Wrestling version of the WWF Event Center with Billy Red Lyons:

Rugged Ronnie Garvin does a promo. He said sometimes you gotta send a message to Dino Bravo and Rick Martel. He said nobody makes money at his expense and nobody takes money from him. He said all he cares about is stepping in the ring and beating people.

The Hart Foundation do a promo on Demolition. They said thye saw them watching their match at Saturday Night's Main Event. Jim says the time is going to come when they have to face them eye to eye. Bret said they can study them and watch footage but it won't help them. Bret said they are looking at the best in the world and will beat them to become new world tag champs.

Akeem and Slick talk Slick said they were on a safari and they had WWF ice cream bars there in Africa on a hot night. We then see Akeem eat Slick's ice cream.

Dusty Rhodes vs Tony Leone

Vince asks Jesse what he knows about the career of Tony Leone. He said he knows as much as he does about Sapphire's career - as little as possible. Tony backs up Dusty and Vince calls Tony pale. Dusty elbows Tony in the head then Tony takes a rough fall out. Jesse said to watch out for Sapphire and said she's known to kick a man in the teeth. Dusty and Sapphire do an inset. He said dues will be paid with The Macho Man. Sapphire said Sherri and Macho know a lot about giving out pain, but she wants to see how much they know about receiving it.

Dusty back body drops Tony then slams him. Dusty back elbows Tony then elbow drops him for the win.

It was a quick squash and there wasn't a lot to say about it. Tony's bump to the outside was rough.

Sapphire dances after with Dusty then Dusty kisses her.

WWF Event Center with Sean Mooney

The Big Boss Man said he has walked a straight and narrow line all of his life. He said he helped enforce law and order all over the country and has dealt with every piece of trash there is. He said Ted is no different and thinks he can buy anything. He said Ted thinks he can buy respect but respect is something you earn. Boss Man said all Ted did was get him mad and he said he will get revenge on him. Sean said Ted is on Boss Man's most wanted list.

Slick and Warlord do a promo on Tito Santana. Slick said Tito has been here for a while and had a successful career. He said he hopes he invested his money well, maybe with some  taco places because his career is about to come to an end with "the master of mayhem, himself". He then says, "he's a brotha that's definitely about to get right dead on your case". 

WWF Maple Leaf Wrestling Event Center with Billy Red Lyons:

 

Macho Man and Sherri do a promo. Macho says even though there's no bad weather, let the clouds separate and let the lightning bolts flash. He said who's the best in the WWF can mean different things to different people. Macho and Sherri argue over who the best is and Macho pushes her to the side. Macho said he isn't the best, he's better than the best. He brings her back in and said to tell them there's nobody better than The Macho King. Sherri then yells "Better Than The Best" in an absolutely wild promo.

Tito Santana does a promo. He said times have changed in the WWF and the wrestlers are getting bigger, faster, tougher and you have to change with the times. He said he has seen it all and has seen a lot of wrestlers come and go. He said a lot of wrestlers said they would get rid of him but he is still here. He said he has been knocked down but he knows what it takes to get back up. He mentions wanting to fight Barbarian, Mr. Perfect, Warlord and Rick Martel and says he is always ready.

Dino Bravo vs George Anderson

Jesse and Vince call Dino a powerhouse. Dino and Jimmy Hart do an inset promo. Hart says it's Dino's chance to get rid of Tugboat. He said Tugboat doesn't pick his friends well and says Hulk won't be there to watch his back. He said Tugboat will realize what it's like to face the world's strongest man.

Dino pushes George back then shoulders him over. Dino atomic drops him then drops him throat first over the top rope. Dino elbow drops him for 2, picking him up on the pin attempt. Dino chops George, snapmares him and drops a knee on him. Dino airplane spins him then chops him. George stays up and Vince puts him over for it. Dino boots him and side slams him for the win.

It was another short squash and the announcers actually put over George a bit here.

Boris Zhukov vs Nikolai Volkoff

It's the Soviet Derby here as The Bolsheviks collide. Boris sings the Soviet national anthem. Nikolai then comes down. He tells Boris he can sing better than him and sings the US national anthem to a big pop. Boris goes nuts then gets lariated from behind hard. Jesse said, "he got a rocket's red glare right there".

Boris stomps him, pulls off his jacket and hits headbutts. Volkoff gets out and has his head banged off the steps. Jesse calls Volkoff a traitor and Volkoff is sent into the post. Boris takes off his boot and nails Volkoff with it. Nikolai does a great job selling it and Boris pushes the ref away. More refs come down and Jesse said the boot isn't an illegal object because it's part of his outfit. Nikolai then gets up and goes after Boris to the dressing room.

This was short but I really liked it. Volkoff singing the USA anthem was a neat way to turn him face, though I really would have popped if they did dueling Russian national anthems. It just would have been ridiculous. Boris gave him a nice beating with his boot and Volkoff sold it well.

The Brother Love Show with Bobby Heenan and Rick Rude

Heenan says Love made a mistake. He said Rude should be introduced as the next WWF champ. Love begs for forgiveness then says that for him. Rude said he may have showed the rest of the world that he's worthy of being champ, but he has to prove it to him. Rude said he can be ravishing or rude. He said he can make some people feel real good and said he can make some people feel real bad as he gets in his wrestling gear. Heenan said there will be no more rude awakenings until Rude becomes WWF champ. Rick said he showed him his and now Warrior has to show him his. He tells him to bring the WWF title with him when he does as that's what he wants. Boy did that promo come across wrong.

Rick Martel does a commercial for Arrogance. He said it makes spark plugs go hotter and improves your engine's performance. He said to put the bricks on the mundane and accelerate into the fast lane with Arrogance. They then drive away. This was short but fun. Rick was really good here. 

The Bushwhackers vs Black Bart and Kent Carlson 

 

Jesse said The Bushwhackers walk is called powerwalking in LA. They lick and rub each other on the heads. Rhythm and Blues do an inset about The Bushwahckers saying they only sold 3 version of "Hunka Hunka Honky Love". Honky said they can't sing, dance, wrestle and can't count past 3. Honky shows us the golden record and it says there were a million record sales.

Butch blocks Bart's punches and knocks him over. luke hits punches on Bart then is eye raked. Bart lariats Luke and misses an elbow. Bart takes a double clothesline and The Bushwhackers do their walk.

Luke hits punches on Kent then bites him. Kent is hit with a battering ram then takes a double gutbuster. Butch then picks up the pin in this quick squash.

"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan vs Al Burke

 

Jesse asks Vince how his pistons have been doing. Vince says you can't find Arrogance anywhere, even at drug stores and K-Mart. Jesse says only he would look for that at K-Mart. Jesse said Arrogance might even make Duggan look sexy, then says, "nah, maybe not".

Duggan does his "hooo" chant then does a big atomic drop. He lariats Al and Al slides out on the football tackle. Duggan said putting Hulk out of wrestling is not something he will stand for. He says he will chop Earthquake down next time he sees him.

Al is slingshotted in then he takes a big back body drop. Duggan slams Al then running clotheslines him. He then pins him with one hand in this quick squash.

WWF Event Center with Sean Mooney

 

They shill the 6/2/90 Boston Garden show again. The Ultimate Warrior does a promo. He says he will take Rude deeper into Parts Unknown than he has ever been and some other things that were half hard to make out due to a buzzing sound and likely half nonsense.

WWF Maple Leaf Wrestling Event Center with Billy Red Lyons

Billy says Bobby Heenan is one of the most successful managers in the WWF and just got the IC title with Mr. Perfect. The Barbarian and Bobby Heenan do a promo. Barb says this is the new Barbarian. He said he is from no man's land. He said they will keep climbing the mountain until they survive. Heenan talks about various WWF wrestlers and said they should put them all in the ring against him as he will destroy them. If you ever wondered why The Barbarian never did promos, it's because he was really hard to understand with a heavy accent. He had a cool voice though.

Jake Roberts does a promo. He said the hardest thing for any athlete to deal with is being embarrassed. He said he was just having fun with Brown but Brown took it serious. He said if he wants some of him, he's different than any man around. He said he runs to a different beat of a different drummer and he's one Brown doesn't want to be around.

Vince tries to give the fans the address to send Hulk letters and Jesse said anyone who thinks like him should send the letters to Earthquake instead at "10 Richter Scale, Idaho". 

Bonus match:

Jimmy Snuka vs Buddy Rose

 

This is joined in progress. Snuka breaks a full-nelson and Rose does a big bump onto the ropes and out. Rose tells the camera to get out of the way while he's outside. Rose gets back in. He eye rakes and back rakes Snuka. Snuka's head is banged off the buckles but he no sells it. Buddy's head is then banged off all 3 of the buckles multiple times and the mat.

Rose eye rakes him then Snuka hits a flying shot. Snuka slams him and fist drops him. Snuka top rope splashes him and wins it.

I think is from WWF Prime Time Wrestling 5/21/1990. I have no idea why it's here. I liked what we saw of it though. Rose bumped big as usual in ways that only he could. I do feel bad for him though because he was way above this and deserved better.

Overall thoughts: The Hulk stuff was over the top as they acted like he was dying. Beefcake's squash had nothing of note in it while The Orient Express' squash was good. Rick Martel's Arrogance commercial was good and Rude's appearance on The Brother Love show came across wrong. I liked the quick battle between The Bolsheviks. It was a fun show overall but I don't know if I'd really recommend it.
