New Japan Pro Wrestling 8/2/2026 G1 Climax 36 Day 11

TMDK (Hartley Jackson & Ryohei Oiwa) vs. Goto Revolutionary Army (Hirooki Goto & Tatsuya Matsumoto)

Goto and Oiwa lock up. Goto clean breaks him and then side headlocks him. They shoulderblock each other and Oiwa takes a double shoulderblock. Goto corner lariats Oiwa and Oiwa side headlocks him. Hart and Oiwa side headlock Goto. Hart shoulders Goto over.

Hart misses a senton. Tat comes in and hits forearms on Hart. Tat dropkicks him and Hart double axe handles his back. Hart misses a corner splash and Tat running back elbows him. Goto helps Hart water wheel drop Hart for 2. Tat crabs Hart.

Hart lariats him down and sentons him for the win.

Thoughts: It was a short waste of time with Hart and Oiwa doing side headlocks for half of this.

House Of Torture (SANADA & Yoshinobu Kanemaru) vs. Unbound Co. (Gedo & Yuto-Ice)

Ice back elbows San and is wristlocked. Ice ropebreaks out and San side headlock takeovers him. Ice knees him in the gut. Gedo side headlock takeovers YK and YK headscissors him. Gedo tries to headstand out and can't. Gedo shoulders YK over. Gedo dragon screws YK then figure fours him. YK reverses it and Ice breaks it up.

YK takes running corner attacks. Ice running knees YK in the corner and Gedo does a gedo clutch on YK for 2. San dropkicks Ice in the knee and chest. San knreebreakers Gedo and Gedo's knees are banged off the mat. YK figure fours Gedo and submits him.

Thoughts: It was short. Gedo got his knee worked on a little near the end before tapping out. It was nothing much of note.

Ice refuses Sanada's handshake after.

United Empire (Jake Lee & Zane Jay) vs. United Empire (Great-O-Khan & Jakob Austin Young)

Lee lays down in front of Khan. Khan then tries to pin him. Lee then tries a pin off of it. Lee makes stupid faces. Zane comes in. Zane lays down, Khan tries to pin him and Zane rolls him up for 2. 

Young comes in, tries to let Zane pin him then rolls him up for 2. Zane and Young push each other. Zane drops him with a punch. Khan trips Zane from the outside then Lee trips Young. Lee and Khan trade forearms. Khan trips Lee and they facekick each other down.

Zane running lariats Young. Young enzugiri's Zane then backrolls him for 2. Zane shining wizards Young. We get some arguments and Zane kicks Khan in the crotch. Zane springboards but Khan just moves. Khan submits him with a claw.

Thoughts: This was a very lazy match and just a total joke with people trying to kick each other in the crotch, people acting goofy and people teasing that they will throw the match. This was not good. 

Lee and Khan argue after and Young breaks it up.

Konosuke Takeshita, Oleg Boltin & Toru Yano vs. Unbound Co. (Daiki Nagai, Shingo Takagi & Yota Tsuji)

Oleg chops Yota. Yota flying pumping knees Oleg then Oleg slams him. Oleg splashes him for 2. Yota hurricanrana's Oleg. Oleg blocks Yota's curbstomp but takes a basement dropkick. Oleg shoulders Yota over. Shingo and KT lariat battle. Shingo corner lariats him then hits chops and punches. KT exploders him.

KT and Shingo trade forearms. Shingo lariats him over then gets lariated over. Shingo twisting suplexes him. Nagai and Yano get in. Nagai hits forearms and running back elbows him. Nagai corner dropkicks him for 2. 

Yano goes into the exposed buckle and takes a double low dropkick for 2. Yota pulls Oleg out. Yano atomic drops Nagai then Nagai spinebusters him for 2. Nagai misses a top rope diving headbutt. Yano sends him into the exposed buckle and rolls him up for the pin. 

Thoughts: It was short. Takeshita and Shingo did okay in their segment but that's really it. The time just wasn't there.

G1 Climax 2026 Block B Match - Drilla Moloney vs. Aaron Wolf

Wolf and DM lock up. Wolf waistlocks him and DM wristlocks him. Wolf reverses it. DM side headlock takeovers him and Wolf headscissors him. They chop each other and Wolf shoulders him over. Wolf elbow drops him for 2. Wolf back elbows him and DM spinebusters him. 

DM kicks him in the back. DM elbow drops him for 2. DM chops him and side headlock takeovers him. Wolf and DM trade forearms. DM is caught off the 2nd rope and Wolf overhead belly to belly suplexes him. They forearm each other and DM drops to one knee. 

They chop each other. DM boots him off the ropes then dropkicks him out. DM dropkicks him through the ropes. DM piledrivers him on the floor. DM top rope elbow drops him for 2. 

DM armdrags him and spears him for 2. DM knees him in the chest. Wolf shoulder throws him then hip throws him. Wolf does more hip throws and does a sit out AA for 2. Wolf triangles him. DM tries a pin then pop-up drops him. Wolf powerslams DM for 2. Wolf running lariats him then olympic slams him. Wolf wins.

Thoughts: I liked it. Wolf continues to look decent and they had an okay hoss style match here. Wolf did what he was supposed to as did Drilla. It was all chops and throws here. 

G1 Climax 2026 Block B Match - Zack Sabre Jr. vs. OSKAR

Zack grabs the wrist and they test strength. OS overhead throws him from that position then side headlock takeovers him. Zack headscissors him. Os headflips out. Zack evades him and does an octopus. Zack stomps Os' arm.

Zack wrists Os' fingers and euros his arm. Os shoulders him over. Zack is sent hard into the corner. Os chops Zack down. Zack hits euros and is chopped down. Os then camel clutches him and Zack ropebreaks.

Os elbows Zack in the back of the neck then clubs his chest. Os misses a legdrop on the apron. Zack PK's him. Zack hits leg kicks and knee drops the leg. Zack does a figure four variation and Os ropebreaks. Os is thrown into the buckles and goes down.

Zack dropkicks Os in the knee. Zack drives Os' knees into the mat from the surfboard position. Os backdrops Zack. Os misses a corner charge and Zack leg kicks him. Zack gets on his back with a sleeper and Os throws him down. Zack michinoku drivers him for 2. 

Zack slaps Os and Os slams him. Zack triangles Os. Os powerbombs him for 2. Zack trips him, goes for a bridge and is put in a grounded choke. Zack pulls on the leg and is pushed away. Os facekicks Zack and Zack ankle locks him. Zack then ties up all of Os's limb and Os taps out.

Thoughts: It was an okay bout here. Os did big man stuff and Zack used various submissions against him and kicked the leg. It made sense and was believable and I liked how this turned out.

G1 Climax 2026 Block B Match - Ren Narita vs. Yuya Uemura

Yuya hammerlocks him and Ren fails to reverse it. Ren trips him and is put back in the hammerlock. Yuya headstands while keeping the hold on. Ren tries a rolling snapmare but the hold stays on. Ren sends Yuya out to break the hold. Ren sends Yuya into the rails and bangs his head off the apron. 

Ren bangs Yuya's knee of the mat. Ren stomps Yuya's knee and bangs it off the mat. Ren kneebreakers Yuya and Togo bangs Yuya's leg off the post. Ren chairs Yuya's knee. 

Ren back elbows him for 2. Yuya forearms Ren then armdrags him. Yuya dropkicks Ren. Yuya chops him in the corner and slams him on his arm. Yuya armbars him and Ren ropebreaks. Togo trips Yuya and Ren flying takedowns Yuya. Yuya wristlocks him. 

Togo gets on the apron and Yuya is thrown into the ref. Togo stomps Yuya. Kanemaru comes in to help the heels. Togo chops Kanemaru on accident. Yuya armdrags Togo and dropkicks Ren. Yuya slingshot plancha's the heels outside.

Yuya backdrops Ren for 2. Ren sleepers Yuya. They roll out with Ren keeping the sleeper on. Yuya almost gets counted out. Ren exploders him for 2 in the ring. Yuya pele kicks him then germans him for 2. Ren facebusters Yuya for 2. 

Yuya hurricanrana's him for 2. Yuya dragon suplexes him for 2. Ren boots him in the knee and Yuya boots him in the gut. Yuya front suplexes him. Yuya misses a top rope crossbody and Ren leglocks him. Kanemaru distracts the ref and Togo sentons Yuya. Ren submits Yuya with a leg lock. 

Thoughts: It was alright as they had two stories going with Ren working Yuya's knee and Yuya working Ren's arm. I wish they would have skipped the heel shenanigans though as it never adds anything to these matches. I was surprised that this turned out as well as it did.

G1 Climax 2026 Block B Match - Gabe Kidd vs. HENARE 

Gabe runs in. They forearm flurry each other and Gabe hits chops. Hen lariats him on the ropes then hits chops and clubs. Gabe chops back and they butt heads. They trade forearms. Gabe chops him then Hen shoulders him over. 

Gabe lariats him over the top and goes with him. Gabe charges at him and they lariat battle. They trade forearms and Gabe bites him. Gabe hits forearms and is sent into the rails. Hen pump kicks Gabe and Gabe falls over the rails.

Gabe eye rakes him and hits forearms. They run at each other and collide with lariats in the crowd. They trade chops. Gabe lariats him into chairs, knocking the chairs over. Hen is sent into the post. Gabe brainbusters him in the ring for 2. 

Gabe knocks him into the corner with a forearm. Gabe chops Hen in the corner. Gabe hits headbutts but just hurts himself. Hen pop up samoan drops him. Gabe forearms him then Hen berzerker bombs him for 2.  

Hen chops him in the corner and headbutts him on the buckles. Hen 2nd rope superplexes him. They lariat each other. Gabe slap flurries him. Hen spin kicks him in the face and takes a hard rebound lariat for 2. Gabe backdrops him then running knees him for 2. 

Gabe spits at Gedo on commentary. Gabe hits a big forearm. Gabe hits more forearms. Hen slaps him around and forearms him. Hen hits a hard running lariat. Hen lariats him again. Gabe suplexes Hen on the floor. Gabe grabs a table and a chair. Gabe chairs him in the gut and head. Hen no sells it and drops him with a forearm. 

Hen bangs Gabe's head off a table and rams his head into it. Hen PK's Gabe then muso's him for 2. Hen running lariats him for 2. Gabe slaps Hen around then Hen slaps back. Hen full nelson's him. 

Hen PK's him. Hen flies into a forearm twice then Gabe knees him in the chest. Gabe piledrivers him twice and pins him.

Thoughts: I liked it but it went a little long and they repeated some things a few times. It was all forearms, chops and lariats. Both guys took whoopings here and absolutely beat the crap out of each other. The selling could have been a little better here as well but this was what you would want out of these two. This was an okay bout. 

Gabe goes to talk on the mic but throws it down before saying anything.

Overall thoughts: The undercard was absolutely nothing as usual with Jake Lee's match being particularly bad. Drilla/Wolf was an okay hoss match. Zack/Oskar was an okay technical wizard vs powerhouse match. Ren/Yuya had the usual HoT shenanigans, but the work was good enough otherwise that I'd say it was alright. Gabe/Henare was also an okay bout here. I'd give it a 6 out of 10 as the G-1 matches delivered here and made up for a bad undercard. The show was okay overall.
