CMLL 8/29/2026 Viernes Espectacular

The announcer talks to open the show as usual. 

Cerebro Negro Jr. & Raider vs. Brillante Jr. & Rey Pegasus

Raid and Rey start us off. Raid takes him down and is armdragged. Rey sweeps him twice and Raid facebusters him. Raid then stops him. Raid stomps Rey. Rey enzugiri's him from the apron then blind springboard diving reverse headscissors him. Rey then tilt-a-whirl backbreakers Negro.

Rey walks up the buckles, rope walks, drops down and springboard diving headscissors Negro. Brill enzugiri's Negro then flips in with an armdrag on him. Brill corkscrew headscissors Raid and superkicks him. Raid 2nd rope springboard dropkicks Brill. Raid stomps Brill. 

Brill chops Negro from the apron. Raid chest clubs Brill on the ropes. Raid 2nd rope reverse suplexes Brill. Rey then springboard splashes Raid. Negro armdrags Rey into a double stomp. Negro basement dropkicks Rey.

Rey is sat up top and Negro drops him down chest first for 2. Brill slingshot pendulum ddt's Negro for 1. Rey superkicks Raid. Raid is then held for a springboard dropkick to the butt. Rey lariats Brill. 

Brill does a nice tornillo tope on Raid outside. Rey flips off the bottom rope and headscissors Negro down from the top.  Negro air raid crashes Rey for 2. Brill dropkicks Negro out. Raid does an electric chair into a german on Brill. Rey springboard diving headscissors Raid. Rey electric chair drivers Negro for 2.

Raid flying headscissors Rey. Brill 2nd rope flipping russian legsweeps Raid. Rey and Negro then do stereo springboard dives on their opponents. Rey takes over Negro for 2. 

The four trade shots. Raid and Negro hit stereo canadian destroyers then get hit with stereo poisonrana's him. Brill is popped up. Rey corkscrew rope walks, drops down and springboard tornillo's out. Brill 2nd rope hurricanrana's Raid and pins him.

Thoughts: It went too far by the end but it was a good opener otherwise. They hit a bunch of complicated spots, Rey Tornado had a fantastic night and it was a main event worthy match in the opener. This couldn't have gone much better than it did and everyone went all out for this one.

Guerrero Maya Jr. vs. El Cobarde

Cob jumps on him and stomps him before it starts. Cob boots him on the ramp. Cob chokes Maya with his own cape and foot chokes him. Maya chokes him back. Cob top rope dropkicks him. Cob tope con hilos him outside. 

Cob sends Maya into the rails. Cob top rope swantons him inside for 2. Cob hits elbows on him. Cob misses a corner splash and Maya bulldogs him. Maya then rips on Cob's mask. Cob clips him from behind and foot chokes him. 

Cob boots and punches him in the corner. Maya criss crosses him and spears him. Maya topes him outside. Maya spinning heel kicks him in the corner and flying double knee's him from behind for 2. Maya hits a twisting unprettier for 2. 

Maya is tripped into the buckles and takes a meteora from behind. Cob blue thunders him for 2. Cob spin kicks him in the gut, leg sweeps him and standing moonsaults him for 2. Maya hits tilt-a-whirl backbreakers. Cob then just kicks him right in the crotch and is DQ'd.

Thoughts: The finish was dumb and totally out of nowhere. And it's a shame because the match was good otherwise. They had a furious pace here, they showed some aggression and it was exciting from start to finish.

Maya talks on the mic after. He says he's tired of his attitude. He says he declares himself his worst enemy and says he will end his career. Maya says he will return to being a technico to finish him off. Cob then drops him and beats him up on the ramp.

Ema Maishima, Maika & Mei Seira vs. Las Infernales (Dark Silueta, Lluvia & Zeuxis)

L = Lluvia, Z = Zeuxis

L has the curly red hair and Z has the straight brown hair.

Ema and L go at it. They compete for cheers and Ema boots her. L pulls her hair then dropkicks her. Mei top rope crossbodies L when Ema rolls out. L throws down Mei by the hair. Mei sweeps Z then slaps her. Z dropkicks Mei in the knee then crushes her with a running meteora. Maika gets armdragged by Z then is kicked in the back.

Maika headscissors Z out of the corner. Z slaps Maika, Maika shoulder throws her and sliding lariats her. Dark trips Maika and basement dropkicks her in the head. Dark then pulls on Maika's hair. 

Dark 2nd rope dropkicks Maika. Dark superkicks Ema and kicks her in the leg. Ema flying headscissors Dark. Ema top rope dropkicks Dark. 

Dark takes running corner attacks. Dark takes a triple basement dropkick in the corner. Z gets stomped on by the Japanese then she takes a triple basement dropkick. L is on the 2nd rope and takes dropkicks to the back. All 6 girls fight. We get a 6 girl suplex spot. 

Dark 2nd rope diving headcissors and Z does a dropkick off the top. Ema's head is banged off the top buckle. L then double underhook codebreakers Ema on the apron. Mei top rope plancha's Z outside. Dark cannonballs off the apron to the outside. Maika plancha's off the apron outside. L then top rope plancha's off the top outside.

Mei suplexes Dark and rolls her up for the pin.

Thoughts: I liked it. It got real fast and wild by the end with most of the girls doing dives. It went a lot better than I expected and I thought it was an okay bout.

CMLL World Tag Team Title #1 Contenders Match - Los Gemelos Diablos (Gemelo Diablo I & Gemelo Diablo II) vs. Los Villanos (El Hijo del Villano III & Villano III Jr.) vs. Los Divinos Laguneros (Blue Panther Jr. & Hijo De Blue Panther)

There's too many similar names here so I'm just going to give my post match thoughts for this.

Hijo del Villano got the pin over Hijo de Blue Panther here. It had a lot of people coming in and out. Everyone hit their fair share of big moves and we got a decent amount of dives...and some awkwardness. The lowpoint of the match was when one of the Blue Panther's was on the rails, a Gem tried to tope him but mostly just went into the rails. It was definitely a little rushed but they did what they could do with the tough format here. It was acceptable.

Lightning Match - Blue Panther vs. Gran Guerrero

Gran armwringers Blue and is arm whipped down. Gran flips him. Blue boots him out of the corner and rolls on him. Gran stomps on him. Gran boots Blue in the corner and stands on him there. Gran pulls on Blue's mouth and foot chokes him. 

Blue walks up the ropes and 2nd rope twisting crossbodies him. Blue back body drops him and lariats him. Gran baseball slides Blue off the apron. Gran boots him outside. then sends him into the rails. Gran facekicks him outside. Gran gets a 2 count on him inside. Gran goes for a springboard to get in and Blue swats him down. 

Blue topes Gran outside. Blue then hits a 2nd tope outside.  Blue gets a 2 count on him inside. Gran misses a corner charge and goes out. Blue crossbodies him off the ramp. Gran goes up top and Blue armdrags him down for a 2 count. Gran 2nd rope cradle shocks him for 2. Gran chops him in the corner. Blue then chops him in the corner. Gran clubs on him on the mat. Gran poses on the ropes, he goes over to Blue and Blue cradles him. Blue pins him.

Thoughts: I liked it. Blue defied age as usual here and had a good showing. The upset win at the end was a nice surprise. It was an okay bout. 

Averno, Barbaro Cavernario, Ultimo Guerrero & Zandokan Jr. vs. Dragon Rojo Jr., Mistico, Star Jr. & Templario

The heels come out first. The faces come out one at a time and the heels start beating them up. Rojo gets hit on the ramp by Barb. The faces still kind of do their usual entrances even as their partners take whoopings. Barb and Rojo fight outside the ring with Barb getting the edge. Rojo is sent over the rails.

The faces get beaten up in the ring and Av boots Mist on the ramp. Mist is thrown in. UG boots Temp in the ring and Av pulls on Mist's mask on the buckles. Mist is dropped crotch first ont he rails. UG pulls on Temp's mask on the buckles. 

Mist is sent into the rails. KeMalito then drops KeMonito onto Mist outside. Zand sitout AA's Star for 1. Barb kicks Rojo on the ramp. Mist is rammed crotch first into the post by Av. UG baseball slides Temp off the apron. The heels continue to beat up the faces.

Barb springboard splashes Rojo. Zand sends Star into the rails. Temp springboards and UG dropkicks him in mid air. Av stomps Mist on the ramp. UG 2nd rope gordbusters Temp. Mist flying headscissors Av. KeMalito then clips Mist on the ramp.

UG superkicks Temp. Av then pulls on Mist's mask in the ring. Barb pounds on Rojo in the corner. Av stands on Temp. Mist springboard flying headscissors Av down. Mist handspring double back elbows the heels. Rojo top rope dropkicks Barb. Star and Temp do a springboard armdrag and dropkick. Rojo, Temp and Star then tope out. Mist walks up the buckles and plancha's Av outside. 

Rojo does a dive out. Temp and Star do topes. Mist then tornillos outside onto Av. Rojo chops Barb in the ring. Rojo gets chopped down by Barb. Rojo boots Barb out of the corner then Rojo spears Barb.

Zand and Star trade chops. Star slaps him and stomps him. Star spin kicks Zand in the gut then slingshot neckbreakers him. Star superkicks Zand out.  UG lariats Temp then pulls on his mask. Temp enzugiri's UG on the buckles. UG 2nd rope powerbombs Temp for 2. Temp 2nd rope powerbombs UG for 2. Temp flying headscissors UG. Mist is triple stomped on by the heels. Mist handsprings into a the ropes and hits a double armdrag. Av is pushed into Barb then Mist flying headscissors Av into Barb. Mist then 619's the two. Mist springboard diving headscissors Barb.

Mist spinning headscissors Barb from his shoulders. Mist walks up the buckles then corkscrew diving armdrags Barb. Star top rope moonsaults outside. Mist then topes Av near the post. Temp walks up the ropes and springboard dropkicks UG. Temp flying space tiger drops UG from the apron and pins him.

Thoughts: The faces took a long beatdown to start things. They made their comeback. Things evened up for a while then the faces kind of did a second comeback with dives and pikced up the win. It was longer than it needed to be and dragged a little but they got the point across by pushing the Barb/Rojo feud. It was okay overall, but they could have cut a lot of this out.

CMLL World Heavyweight Title Match - Hechicero (c) vs. Eddie Kingston

Eddie runs at him and hits him before the bell. Eddie pounds on him in the corner and chops him. Hech hits punches and spinning lariats him. Eddie bites his head. Hech is then sent into the rails. Hech dropkicks Eddie outside. Eddie sends Hech into the steps and bangs his head off of it. Eddie suplexes him on the steps. 

Eddie rips up Hech's mask in the ring and exposes his face.  Eddie hits punches. Hech hip throws Eddie then twists his arm and head with his feet. Hech pounds on Eddie's head.

Eddie kicks the middle rope into Hech's chest. Eddie headbutts Hech. Hech's head is banged off the buckles and Eddie chop flurries him. Hech chop flurries him too. Hech hits mounted corner punches. Eddie enzugiri's Hech. Hech step up knees him in the corner.

Eddie lariats Hech down then Hech northern lights bombs him.  They trade chops. Eddie hits forearms. Hech clubs on Eddie over the top rope. Hech dragon screws Eddie around the 2nd rope. Hech top rope flying elbows Eddie for 2. Eddie exploders Hech for 2. Hech backslides him for 2. Hech dropkicks him and step up knees him. Hech flapjacks him. Hech rolls him around the ring via the head and arm and pins him.

Thoughts: I liked it. They started off hot. Eddie mostly stuck to brawling here and not Japanese moves and Hech got his usual technical wrestling offense in. It didn't go too long either and it went a lot better than I expected it to go.

The announcer then closes the show.

Overall thoughts: It was a good show from CMLL. The first two matches were about as good as you could ask for. The women's trios match was an okay and fast bout. The 3-way men's tag was acceptable. Gran/Blue was another okay bout with Blue ignoring his age as usual. The 8-man tag went a little long but it was fine. Some people really hated the main but I thought it went well and it beat my expectations. I'd give this an 8 out of 10 overall as there was a lot of good wrestling here, it was nice to see some special guests and everyone worked hard.
