TNA Impact 7/2/2026
Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2026/06/tna-impact-6252026.html
Note - In the last week or so, Tommy Dreamer, Mike Santana and Eric Young have all parted ways with TNA. Mike's headed to WWE. I'm not a huge Mike fan, but they put a lot into him and I'm not sure who will replace him. Eric's shtick is a little old to me, but it's not a good look when someone who is seen as a symbol of TNA is leaving. I really wonder who is going to be on these shows going forward at this point.
We are in Albany, NY. Tom Hannifan and Matt Rehwolt are on commentary.
Ryan Nemeth comes out and does the intro for Nic Nemeth. Nic Nemeth comes out. He says he feels almost as good as he looks. Ryan holds up a list of names that Nic has beaten. He talks about people he wants to beat up from high school.
KC Navarro comes out and interrupts. He says he's not digging how Nic is doing his thing. Ryan calls him a pink haired goof. Ryan accuses him of being jealous that he's not related to Nic. Nic calls them 2 stooges and talks about how he trained him. Nic yells at both and says they need to fight tonight.
Nic says he's the best wrestler in the world and dares anyone to come challenge him. He says you will all bow down to The Wanted Man and your TNA champ.
Thoughts: I vaguely remember The Nemeth's and KC working together from a few episodes ago. This was a stupid segment though and did nobody any favors.
Leon Slater is interviewed. He says he's devastated after the PPV. He says Ced stole his X-Title from him. Leon promises he's coming back for the title. He says he has to beat Eddie Edwards tonight to get back on the road to the title. He says to become the future face of TNA, he has to start by knocking off scum like Eddie.
They talk about the newly created Knockouts TV Title.
Tasha Steelz does an inset promo and says history will be made as a new TV champ will be crowned. She says she has made history since Day 1 and is the greatest that beat the greatest. She says she's MS will have to answer to Muva (this is apparently some nickname she has backstage and somehow, this is a way to spell "Mother").
Mara Sade does an inset promo. She says Tasha brings another side out of her and she needs it. She says she won't quit as she can't quit. She says they all see the vision and she will use her hands to make it a reality.
TNA Knockouts Television Title Tournament First Round Match - Tasha Steelz vs. Mara Sade
Mara backslides her to strt then rolls her up for 2. They trade pin attempts. Mara baseball slides her and bangs her head off the apron. Mara chops her outside. Mara jumps off the steps and dropkicks her.
Mara is swept on the apron. TS hits mounted forearms. TS hits corner attacks and rolls her into a PK for 2. TS hits short arm lariats. TS falcon arrows her for 2. Mara misses a top rope splash. TS misses a corner charge and ends up going out. Mara slingshot plancha's her outside.
Mara hits shots and slingblades her. Mara corner flying forearms her and boots her in the corner. TS misses a step up enzugiri. Mara sitout powerbombs her for 2. TS jawbreakers her and neckbreakers her for 2. TS does a double arm and neck hold.
TS pump kicks her. TS springboards and runs into Mara's superkick. Mara hits a top rope moonsault after TS misses a corner move and Mara pins her.
Thoughts: It got a lot of time and it was fine. No one really botched and things mostly went well here. Mara won as expected.
Agent Zero and Mustafa Ali get on the ramp behind Mara but don't touch her. Ali makes a phone call.
Rich Swann and BDE talk. Rich says if it's them left in there for an X-Division Title shot, they won't take it easy. BDE says he hasn't won a match yet and wants to make sure there's no hard feelings if he wins. He calls him Unc and Rich says not to do that.
TNA X-Division Title #1 Contendership Six Way Match - The Home Town Man vs. Rich Swann vs. Fabian Aichner vs. Mr. Elegance vs. Jason Hotch vs. BDE
We seemingly join this in progress. Rich tries pins on BDE. They get up together. Mr Elegance is kicked in the gut and he pop up drops Rich onto BDE. Elegance poses and Fab chops him. Fab lariats Elegance down then springboard twisting crossbodies Home. Fab top rope double underhook suplexes Rich for 2.
BDE's springboard twisting crosbody is caught then Jason springboard crossbodies them all down. Home airplane spins Jason and TKO's him off of it. Home slingshot plancha's outside. Elegance bangs Home's head off the apron. BDE topes outside but Elegance catches him and throws him into the post.
Rich 2nd rope phoenix splashes outside. Elegance is up top with Rich. Jason powerbombs Elegance, causing him to release german Rich off the top onto Fab. We get some pin attempts. Home takes a corkscrew kick from Jason. Rich handspring cutters Jason for 2. Elegance twisting ddt's Rich. BDE top rope splashes Elegance. Fab sitout last ride powerbombs BDE and pins him.
Thoughts: I think we joined this in progress. This was fast paced and mostly all cool moves and spots. It was a bit hard to follow. The top rope german Rich took really should have taken him out of this. Fab was definitely the favorite going into this one and pulled it off. It was alright.
TNA Injury Report
Personal Concierge is suffering from eye chemical exposure after being green misted and is out. Tom laughs at it. Trey Miguel is still out. Everyone in the ladder match is taking a week off. Eddie Edwards and Moose are cleared. Nic Nemeth then has Matt announce that he is cleared.
AJ Francis and Expressions talk to Ricky Sosa. AJ asks if he thought of flying First Class. Expressions says he could go from Ricky Sosa "Bang Bang" First Class to Ricky Sosa "Bang Bang" Boys in the Hood. Sosa says "bang bang".
Order 4 talk in the back. Ali is upset about the loss and says Order 4 is getting comfortable with failure. John wants to demand a TNA Tag Title shot. Ali says he won't do that, but he will. Ali says he just needs them to do one thing - win.
Ricky Sosa comes out. He says he went through a tough battle at Slammiversary and has beaten Eric Young. He says it was his first PPV and Slammiversary and he stood tall like a man. He says this isn't the end but the beginning. He says he felt the stress but the only thing left has "Bang Bang, Sosa Sosa".
The Righteous come out. Dutch says they keep hearing that Sosa is a once in a lifetime signing. He says potential is lonely and it whisper and waits. He says they don't create greatness but reveal it. Vince talks about The Hardy's and said they showed them that a new chapter was already open. He says on his own, there's limits for Sosa. He says there's no limits with The Righteous and says they are many.
The System come out. Alisha says the only way you can make a name for yourself is if you ride with The System. Eddie says Bear Bronson made the right choice and became a tag champ. He says Cedric made the right choice and became the X-Division champ. He says Sosa needs to ask if he wants to become a champ or join a cult.
Vincent says he just hears empty promises. He says The System see Sosa as a threat. Vincent says The System's actions are just throwing in the towel (this references the PPV match Eddie lost this weekend). Sosa says says no to The System and The Righteous. He says he only wants to align himself with the TNA fans. Bear Bronson nails Sosa and drops him. Bear and Dutch go face to face. Sosa facekicks Bear and is beaten up by The System. Leon Slater comes out and fights off The System. Leon then gets ganged up on to end the segment.
Thoughts: I liked that they tried to make Sosa seem like a big deal here with 2 groups trying to acquire him.
Elijah does a video with a smoking guitar. He says AJ Francis tried to take it all from him then they fought at Slammiversary. He says he got it all back. He sings.
Heather By Elegance does a promo ahead of her match. She talks about things she has done and says she will be the first ever Knockouts TV champ.
Allie does a promo ahead of her match. She says The Elegance Brand reminds her of bullies she used to know. She says bullies make her want to rip someone's face off. She says she wants to remind everyone she's Allie and she's feisty.
TNA Knockouts Television Title Tournament First Round Match - Allie vs. Heather By Elegance
HBE hits Allie from behind and pounds on her. Allie's head is banged off the buckles. Allie corner lariats her and sliding corner forearms her. Allie running dropkicks her outside. Allie's throat is pulled down over the top rope.
Allie hits forearms on HBE and is thrown down backwards. HBE hits mounted shots on Allie. HBE basement dropkicks her against the ropes for 2.
HBE roll her into a chinlock. HBE throws her down backwards. HBE misses a 2nd rope moonsault. They trade forearms. Allie hits running lariats and kneelifts her. Allie hanging headscissors her over the top rope. Allie goes up top. M By Elegance gets on the apron and Rosemary pulls her down. Allie is knocked off the buckles. HBE top rope double stomps Allie and pins her.
Thoughts: It was average but there weren't any bad moments. I'm not sure what M By Elegance's thing here was about as she totally did not distract Allie when Allie couldn't even see her.
They air a Dark Side of the Ring commercial on TNA with Russo and Jeff Hardy complaining about things that happened in the past.
Xia Brookside comes out to talk. She says she told us so about Lei Ying Lee. She says she was right about everything and is the new TNA Knockouts champ now. She says she hopes Slammiversary taught Lei Ying Lee a lesson that the division and title doesn't belong to her. She says if you try to come between her and her title, she will do whatever it takes to keep it.
Lei Ying Lee comes out. She says she would have been happy for her at one time. She says Xia had to cheat to win the title. She says she doesn't see a champ in her but a fake b!tch. She says Xia has everything to lose now. She says she will get her rematch next week. Xia tries to hit her, misses and ends up sliding out when Lee goes for a move. Lee says if she wants weapons, fine, it'll be No DQ.
Mustafa Ali talks to Daria Rae. He says some people think she owes him an apology for Slammiversary. Ali says she owes him a favor. Ali asks that The Great Hands get one more tag title shot. Daria says the idea sounds good for next week.
Ryan Nemeth vs. KC Navarro
Ryan shoves KC. KC slingblades him for 2. KC pulls his neck forward and boots him out of the corner. KC is swept on the 2nd rope. Ryan neckbreakers him on the floor.
Ryan hits mounted forearms on KC. Ryan chinlocks him and KC jawbreakers out. KC hits a running lariat and dropkick. KC flying corner forearm. KC spinning ddt's Ryan for 2. KC misses a corner charge and goes shoulder first into the post. Ryan rolls him up for 2. KC dropkicks Ryan into the ropes and hits his 305 kick. KC running shiranui's him and pins him.
Thoughts: It didn't get a lot of time and KC won as expected here. Ryan's so low on the totem pole now that even a win over him means little. They kept it moving and it was acceptable.
Nic Nemeth comes in and makes them shake hands after. Nic then holds their arms up. Nic then hits a danger zone on KC.
Thoughts: This didn't work. KC hung out with The Nemeth's a few times, it got forgotten about then KC got turned on. It was hard to get invested into this.
The Hardy's do a promo. Matt says Ali called in a favor for The Great Hands to get a title shot. Matt says it doesn't sound like a favor. Jeff says it sounds like a sacrifice. Matt says they will face them and an arena full of dieHardy's. Jeff says those fans provide them with the fuel to be more than just wrestlers. Jeff says they have the nuts and guts to accomplish anything. Matt says The Great Hands will see why they are so good.
Eddie Edwards vs. Leon Slater
Leon facekicks Eddie to start then hits mounted corner punches. Leon drops him with a punch. Eddie headbutts Leon. Leon rewind kicks him. Leon handspring back elbows him. Leon facekicks him out. Leon slingshot plancha's out.
Leon's spinning heel kick is caught and he takes a backbreaker. Eddie stomps Leon. Leon is thrown upside down into the buckles. Eddie back body drops Leon. Alisha chokes Leon on the ropes. Eddie chops Leon then slams him.
Eddie misses a top rope moonsault. Leon drops Eddie with running shots. Leon spinning heel kicks Eddie. Leon top rope crossbodies Eddie for 2. Eddie step up enzugiri's him and backpack stunners him for 2. Leon pump kicks Eddie. Eddie lariats him then double underhook powerbombs him for 2. Eddie tiger drivers him for 2.
Leon hits utopia. Alisha gets on the apron while Leon goes up top. Cedric Alexander gets in the ring. Leon top rope crossbodies Ced. Leon leg lariats Ced. Eddie cradles Leon while holding the pants and pins him.
Thoughts: It was average with a lame finish here. Leon vs Eddie is only so exciting on paper and this was anything too special.
Cedrix beats up Leon after. Ricky Sosa comes in to help out Leon. They fight The System off. Sosa and Leon then celebrate and Tom calls them the future of our sport.
Overall thoughts: It was a weak episode of Impact. TNA's in some real trouble at the moment. They've lost Santana, Eric Young and Maclin within recent weeks and they do not have replacements for them right now. TNA really just needs to do what I've been saying they should for years - find some younger guys, lock them up to longer contracts and see how it goes. The NWA has a more promising roster than they do with a fraction of the money. There's talent who has potential but TNA has been way too focused on ex-WWE guys with limited upside.
The Nemeth's angle with KC Navarro didn't work as they haven't been paired up long enough together. Tasha/Mara was fine as was the X-Division 6-way. The segment with The System and The Righteous trying to sign Ricky Sosa helped make Sosa feel important. Allie/Heather was average and the main was average as well. I'm also not high on the Knockouts TV Title as they have too many belts already. I'd give this show a 5 out of 10 as it was average as a whole.
