Satoshi Kojima & Yuya Uemura vs. Taisei Nakahara & Toru Yano
Yuya and Tai lock up. They back each other up on the ropes and Tai chops him. Tai side headlocks him. Tai uses the buckles to side headlock takeover him. Yuya wristlocks him and Tai ropebreaks. Yuya throws him over by the wrist and elbow drops it. Koji comes in and boots Tai.
Tai hits chest clubs. Koji shoulders him over and flexes his pecs. Tai dropkicks Koji. Yano misses a corner charge and Koji hits chest chops. Koji flying forearms Yano then 2nd rope elbow drops him for 2. Yuya elbow drops Yano for 2.
Yuya hits forearms and Yano pulls Yuya down by the hair. Tai hits forearms on Yuya. Tai running forearms him and crabs him. Tai clubs on him and hits bad chest chops. Tai fires up and is slammed. Yuya slams him again for 2. Yuya then submits him with a wristlock.
Thoughts: A wristlock submission finish may be a first. It wasn't that good. Yano cheated a bit. Tai hit shots on Yuya and eventually got put down. Koji didn't play a big role in this.
Aaron Wolf & Tatsuya Matsumoto vs. Unbound Co. (Gedo & OSKAR)
Os side headlocks Wolf. They shoulder battle and Os clubs his back. Wolf side throws him and shoulders him over. Os slams him. they trade forearms. Wolf does a nice takedown with the arm. Tat tags in and knocks Gedo down on the apron. Tat hits forearms on Os in the corner. Tat dropkicks him three times then takes a back body drop. Os then submits him with a sleeper.
Thoughts: It was a short waste of time here. Oskar won with ease and we didn't even see Gedo. The Oskar/Wolf section wasn't bad, but these guys shouldn't have even bothered getting their gear on.
Wolf and Os fight after and Os takes a hip throw.
United Empire (HENARE & Jakob Austin Young) vs. House Of Torture (Dick Togo & Ren Narita)
Ren pulls Hen by the ears before the bell and the fight starts. All 4 men fight outside. Hen's leg is wrapped around the rails. Jake is double teamed. Ren is pushed into Togo then Hen double lariats the heels over. Jake chokes Ren with a shirt. Hen headbutts Ren then corner lariats him. Jake running shining wizards Ren for 2.
Jake goes into the exposed buckle. Ren kneebreakers Jake and Jake gets his legs split. Togo stomps Jake's knee. Togo knee drops Jake's knee. Togo leglocks Jake then eye rakes him. Jake enzugiri's him.
Togo trips Jake and fist drops his knee. Ren wraps Jake's leg around the ropes. Jake tornado ddt's him. Ren takes shots from both opponents. Hen shoulders Ren over and sentons him. Togo misses a senton and Hen full nelson's Togo. Ren sends Jake into the back of Hen's knee.
Ren russian legsweeps Jake and does a reverse figure four on him. Jake taps out.
Thoughts: It was a shorter one. Jake got his knee worked on a bit and tapped out to a submission on it. That made sense at least but it didn't get the time to accomplish much else and was average.
Henare attacks Ren after. Togo chokes Hen with a weapon. Ren chairs Hen in the knee.
United Empire (Callum Newman & Zane Jay) vs. Unbound Co. (Daiki Nagai & Drilla Moloney)
Nagai knocks CN off the apron to start. DM then boots CN out. All 4 men fight outside and DM/CN fight in the seats. DM pounds on CN in a chair. Zane stomps Nagai. DM headbutts CN in the stands. CN eye rakes him. DM elbows CN in the stands on a rail.
CN chokes DM with a cable. Zane throws Nagai in and gets a 2 count on him. CN taunts Nagai and tries to get him to tag him in since DM is not there. Zane back elbows Nagai for 2. CN kicks Nagai in the back. Nagai hits forearms on Zane and Zane eye rakes him.
Nagai flying headscissors Zane. Nagai spinning ddt's CN. DM gets in and beats up on his opponents. CN straight punches DM then spin kicks him in the gut. Nagai springboard double dropkicks his opponents. Nagai topes CN outside over the rail. Zane hits punches on DM. DM pop up powerbombs him. DM flying superkicks him for the win.
Thoughts: CN and DM spent the first half of this outside and in the stands. It ended up working though as Nagai was fun as the underdog face and showed some personality. This was acceptable.
G1 Climax 2026 Block A Match - Hirooki Goto vs. Great-O-Khan
Khan boots Goto before the bell and clubs on him. Khan mongolian chops him and boots him in the head. Goto shoulders him over. Goto kicks Khan in the knee then hiptosses him. Khan gets on the apron and is forearmed down. Goto is sent into the rails. Khan suplexes Goto on the floor.
Khan chairs Goto. Khan shoves him with his foot in the ring. Goto hits chops and lariats him over. Goto spinning heel kicks Khan in the corner and backdrops him for 2. Khan dumps Goto over the top rope to the floor. Goto's head is banged off the post. Khan grabs a chair and he pushes the ref away with it. Goto sends Khan into the rails.
Goto bulldogs Khan on the floor. Goto elbow drops Khan off the buckles for 2. Goto ushigoroshi's Khan for 2. Khan bites Goto's arm. Khan bites Goto's head. Goto hits a reverse GTR and runs into the ref when Khan pushes him into the ref. Khan pump kicks him from behind. Khan bangs Goto's head off a chair. Goto gets a chair and Khan begs off. Goto doesn't hit him with it. Khan punches him in the crotch. Khan claw chokeslams him and pins him.
Thoughts: They could have had an okay normal match but it was also all outside fighting and shenanigans with the ref being down for a bit. This was disappointing.
Khan goes to chair Goto after and Tatsuya Matsumoto takes the chair shot for Goto. Khan then chairs a chair into Goto's head.
G1 Climax 2026 Block A Match - SANADA vs. Jake Lee
They lock up and trade some basic holds. San boots him in the gut then Jake boots him in the gut. San dropkicks him in the knee. Jake sweeps San on the apron. Jake trips San into the rails. Jake then ties San to the rails. Jake then boots the arm against the rails.
Jake bangs San's arm off the mat and spits at the crowd. Jake sends San shoulder first into the buckles then kicks him in the back. Jake stomps San. San hits him in the gut. San dropkicks Jake in the knee and chest. San slingshot plancha's Jake outside.
San trips him. Jake reverses a paradise lock attempt and pulls back on San's arms. San ropebreaks. Jake backdrops San for 2. San hits a magic screw on Jake. San boots him out of the corner and dragon sleepers him. San misses a top rope moonsault.
San dropkicks Jake in the knee then shining wizard's him from behind. Jake blocks a shining wizard and ankle locks San. Jake knees him in the arm and guillotine chokes him. San dropkicks Jake in the knee. San shining wizards him. San top rope moonsaults him for 2.
Jake high kicks him. Jake suplexes him. San slides out. Jake stomps San outside and bangs his head off the apron. San trips Jake on the apron then magic screws him on the floor. San then ties Jake to the rails and Jake gets counted out.
Thoughts: Aside from people getting tied to the rails, it was mostly a straight match and it was better for it. Sanada's and Jake's goofy heels acts didn't work and they mostly dropped them here. I appreciated that. It was still nothing great or anything but it was a major upgrade over what we would have gotten a few months ago.
G1 Climax 2026 Block A Match - Konosuke Takeshita vs. Oleg Boltin
They shoulder battle. KT facekicks him and shoulders him over. KT tope con hilos him. KT chinlocks him in the ring then pulls his arms back. Oleg armdrgs him. Oleg dropkicks him. Oleg throws him on a slam then splashes him for 2. Oleg karelin's lifts him.
KT gets his knees up on Oleg's vader bomb. Oleg corner splashes him and KT flying knees him. KT blue thunders him for 2. They trade forearms. KT exploders him. Oleg does a nice belly to belly throw on him.
They lariat battle and Oleg flips him with one for 2. KT back body drops him. Oleg F-5's him for 2. KT hits lariats and flips him with the second one for 1. KT pumping knees him for 2. KT guillotines him.
Oleg back body drops him to escape. Oleg finlay rolls him for 2. They trade forearms. They grab each other by the trunks and forearm each other. KT gets the edge with forearms. Oleg fires back and KT spinning forearms him down for 2. Oleg pop up powerbombs KT for 2. KT flying knees him from behind. KT pumping knees him twice. KT falcon arrows him and pins him.
Thoughts: I liked it. It was mostly all stiff strikes here and they didn't go too far overboard with dangerous moves. I thought it was an okay bout and was fun.
G1 Climax 2026 Block A Match - Ryohei Oiwa vs. Yuto-Ice
Ice forearms him hard to start and flurries him in the corner. Ice then stomp flurries him. Ice knees him in the gut. Ice running facekicks him. Oiwa kicks a rail in frustration. Ice goes out to the aisle with him and they forearm each other there. They brawl a bit in the aisle and knock some rails around.
Oiwa hit Ice in the seats. Ice sends Oiwa into the seats. Ice stomps him and Oiwa ddt's him on a chair. Oiwa sends Ice into the post. Oiwa chinlocks Ice around the rail. Oiwa low dropkicks him in the ring. Oiwa clubs on him in the ring. Ice superkicks him in the gut and throws him down backwards.
Ice knees him in the gut. Ice knees him in the face in the corner. Ice then running knees him there. Oiwa forearms Ice down. Oiwa then ddt's him for 2. Ice lariats Oiwa down then PK's him for 2. Ice slaps him then chest kicks him down. They pull each other's hair. Oiwa forearms him. They trade forearms. Ice chest kicks him. Oiwa headbutts him in the chin. Oiwa headbutt flurries him. Oiwa hits a hard shot on him. Oiwa sits on his back with a dragon sleeper. Oiwa ropebreaks.
Oiwa hits downward elbows on Ice. Oiwa rips off some of the tape on Ice's back and backdrops him. Oiwa backdrops him again. Ice drops him with a big forearm and buzzsaw kicks him. Oiwa sleepers him. Oiwa hits lariats then spinning lariats him.
Oiwa shoots in and takes a knee to the face. Oiwa spinning lariats him in the corner. Oiwa spins into a superkick then Ice basement dropkicks him. Ice wins.
Thoughts: It was an interesting bout. Ice got some different stuff out of Oiwa than others. It was almost all strike trading here but the strikes looked good and both guys got hit hard. I liked this one and thought it was an okay match. This was not that different from Takeshita/Oleg.
G1 Climax 2026 Block A Match - Shingo Takagi vs. Yota Tsuji
Shingo backs him up on the ropes. They test strength and Yota forearms him on the ropes. Shingo side headlocks him and they shoulder each other. Shingo hits punches. Yota flying headscissors him. Shingo hiptosses him then shoulders him over. Shingo elbow drops him for 2. Shingo corner lariats him.
Shingo hits punch a flurry in the corner and chops him. Shingo suplexes him for 2. Yota hits Shingo from behind as he goes to do his taunt. Yota elbow drops him and lifts him into a gutbuster. Yota knees him in the gut.
Shingo hits knees to the gut. Yota suplexes him for 2. Shingo ddt's him. Shingo then lariats him over the top to the floor. Both men end each other into the rails. Yota baseball slides him. Shingo sweeps him on the apron. Shingo traps his arms and powerbombs him on the floor.
Shingo sits him up top and chops him in the neck. Shingo superplexes him for 2. Yota does his curbstomp combo to him. Yota flying pumping knees him then orange crushes him for 2. Yota is crotched up top. Shingo lariats him down. Shingo running lariats him then hits a made in Japan for 2. Shingo sliding lariats him from behind. Shingo runs into a lariat and Yota hits a made in Japan on him. Yota running lariats him. Yota crabs him.
Yota curbstomps him. Yota runs into a lariat. They trade forearms. Shingo headbutts him. They run at each other, Shingo sends him into the ropes and hits half nelson suplexes. Shingo running lariats him for 2. Yota germans him then spears him.
Shingo hits a twist and shout. Yota flying pumping knees him then hits a big spear for 2. Yota spinning sit out muso's him for 2. Shingo sliding forearms him. Shingo hits forearms and punches. Yota knees him in the face. Yota no sells a poisonrana then Shingo spears him for 1. Shingo hits a burning dragon for 2. Yota hits his running spinning backdrop move and pins him.
Thoughts: It got a lot of time at over 20 minutes. There were a lot of lapses in action here. The selling was a bit questionable at times and it was heavy on the strikes. They did each other's moves here and definitely tried to make it great, but I would just say it was okay only. I didn't think the first half of this was that good and they didn't need as much time as they got.
Yota talks on the mic after and says he hopes Shingo will be an obstacle for him in the future. He says he wants to be a man like him.
Overall thoughts: The undercard matches didn't accomplish much as usual but Unbound/UE was acceptable. Goto/Khan was a bit disappointing. Jake Lee/Sanada was mostly a straight match minus the finish and I appreciated that. It wasn't that bad. Oleg/Takeshita and Ice/Oiwa were similar slugfests with tons of strikes being thrown. Both were okay bouts. The main was alright but it went long and there were some pauses in the action. Ice/Oiwa was the match of the night. I'd give it a 6 out of 10 overall as some of the G-1 matches delivered. It was an okay show.
