Thoughts: This had all the excitement of a funeral. I don't know what happened but the crowd looked like they were almost being forced to be there. They didn't react to anything and brought it down. The match made sense but some of the strikes could have been better. The work was acceptable, but the greatest match ever would have came off poorly with these fans. I don't love that the tag titles have changed hands yet again though as we've had 3 title changes recently.
Extreme Rules - Pupe Jackson vs Jose "El Mencho" Navarro
Jose waits for him at the entrance but Pupe comes from the other side and hits him with a garbage can lid. Pupe knocks him over a rail and hits him with a beer. Pupe hits him with a baseball bat. They go into the stands and Pupe tries to throw him off the stands.
Jose hangs off a rail in the stands, Pupe punches him and Jose falls down to the floor. Pupe punches him at ringside and hits him with a cane. Jose is sent into the post. Jose's head is banged off a table. Pupe stabs him with a fork.
Jose is busted open. Pupe grabs a wet floor sign. Jose throws powder in his face. Pupe swings the sign at the ropes as he can't see and his himself with it. Jose running facekicks him down. Wizard loves this on commentary.
Jose hits Pupe with the wet floor sign then sticks a crutch in his neck. Jose chairs Pupe in the back. Jose chairs Pupe in the head twice. Jose hits Pupe with a weight on a baseball bat and part of it flies off and nearly hits a fan in the crowd. Pupe is busted open.
Pupe is thrown out. Jose hits Pupe with a trash can lid. Pupe is sent into the post. Jose tries to pin him on the floor. Jose chokes Pupe with a chair. Pupe superkicks him in the gut then chairs Jose's back. Pupe hits him with a crutch and a trash can lid. Pupe breaks a stick over Jose's back.
Jose piledrivers him on a stop sign. Pupe boots him out of the corner. Jose flatliners him for 2. Pupe germans him for 2. Pupe cutters him. Pupe fires up and does a cartwheel. Pupe hits punches. Pupe powerslams him.
Joe low blows him outside. Pupe AA's him through a table leaned against the ring. Pupe gets a 2 count on him. Pupe whips him with a belt then superkicks him for 2. Jose rainmakers him twice for 2.
Jose hits him with a trash can. Pupe michinoku drivers him on a trash can. Pupe top rope elbow drops him and pins him.
Thoughts: It was a good match. It got a lot of time, they bled, they used weapons, they brawled and they did what they were supposed to do. Pupe showed he can do a serious singles match as a face here also. I had no issues with it, though I guess a few minutes could have been cut off. They also got this crowd into it which was like moving a mountain.
Jose hits Pupe from behind after with a trash can. Jose then hits him in the face with his boot. Jose handcuffs Pupe to the ropes and whips him with a belt. Pupe Jackson's wife comes in (she got involved before and Jose rode on her back and whipped her). Pupe's wife takes the belt away. Jose grabs her hands and she kicks Jose in the nuts. Jose grabs a large wine bottle and hits Pupe's wife in the head with it. Jose sits on her and refs come to help Pupe's wife. Pupe is unhandcuffed and checks on his wife.
Overall thoughts: We had 2 matches here. The crowd absolutely destroyed the opener as they reacted to nothing and looked like they were being held against their will during it. The work was acceptable but the crowd ruined it. Pupe/Jose was a good main event style match. They brawled, bled, used weapons and generally did everything you are supposed to do in a big gimmick match. It went well. We then got a big angle after with Jose hitting Pupe's wife with a wine bottle. The main is a solid watch here and the post-match angle was wild. I'd give this a 6 out of 10 and thought it was fine overall.
