We're in Providence, Rhode Island.

Jesse Ventura is not with Vince McMahon as he just quit/got fired. Vince brings in Rowdy Roddy Piper. Piper talk about Summerslam 1990 at a fast pace and compares Rude/Warrior to a kitchen utensil. Vince questions him and Piper says it will be a hot, boiling, bubbly bidet. Vince says "bidet?". Piper says "bidet to you too, let's get Rowdy". You know, it's really saying something when this is the first exchange you have as a commentator on this show. I have no idea what Piper was talking about here.

Dusty Rhodes vs Dale Wolfe

Sapphire is in her new fur coat and has other jeweler on. Dusty checks out her fur coat and shows the camera her new jewelry.

They lock up and Dale eye rakes him. Dale clubs on Dusty then Dusty hits an elbow to the head. Dusty elbows him in the head again then clubs his chest. Dusty slams Dale. Sapphire does an inset promo. She talks about her gifts and said the best gift of all is coming at Summerslam. Vince wonders what she means.

Dale begs off then is elbowed in the head. Dusty back elbows him then elbow drops him. Dusty picks up the win.

It was your usual simple Dusty squash with little but elbow drops and a slam here.

Sapphire dances after and Dusty joins her. Vince says "Don Cornelius, eat your heart out". 

WWF Update with Mean Gene Okerlund

We see clips of Tugboat getting attacked by Dino Bravo and Earthquake last week. We then see The Big Boss Man come to his aide.

Gene says they heard from Earthquake, Dino Bravo and Jimmy Hart. Jimmy says they did it and Quake says Hulk is coming to the ring by himself. Gene says it appears Hulk may be all alone after seeing what happened to Tugboat.

Demolition vs George Skaaland and Mario Mancini

Ax and Crush are in there today. Ax back elbows Mario then throws him out. Smash clubs on Mario outside then Ax cranks Mario's head. Crush top rope double axe handles Mario's back then Crush hits a nice dropkick on Mario. Crush bearhugs George then hits a high belly to belly suplex.

Ax slams George then clubs his back. Crush pushes George down by the throat then George takes Demolition decapitation. Ax pins George.

It was a squash here as expected. This was a rare pairing of Ax and Crush here as it was usually Smash and Crush due to Ax not being healthy. Crush looked decent as usual, having a different style than most of the WWF's big guys.

WWF Event Center with Sean Mooney

Sean says the next Boston Garden show is on 9/15/1990. The main will be Ultimate Warrior and The Legion of Doom vs Demolition. Demolition does a promo. Ax says the tag title aren't at stake. Ax says they will get rid of 3 bones with one stone and says his fist is the stone. Crush says all Legion of Doom have proven is how idiotic they are. Crush says Demolition are the 3 biggest, baddest and toughest men in the WWF. Crush said they won't just talk about it, they will prove it. Smash calls the LOD the "Legion of Dumb" and said there's only one thing to do - knock their stinkin' teeth in.

Hacksaw Jim Duggan does a promo. He said he doesn't have anything against Rude. He calls him a pretty boy and primadonna. He said Rude's in his way and says he will stick reality down his throat. 

The Summerslam Report with Mean Gene Okerlund

Gene runs down the card. The Ultimate Warrior does a promo. He said he will step into Rude's unknown territory to prove that they an understand any challenge. Warrior says he will make the command to tell his fans to part the seas so he can enter the cage. He says he will leave his Warriors behind and there will be no more air left to breathe. He says Rude will be left in to what was once an unknown to him.

They show clips from the Summerslam Fever special. Jim Neidhart clocked Smash with a tag title belt in their match then walked off with it. Ax and Crush somewhat rightfully jump Neidhart for it and Neidhart takes a 3v1.

Demolition does a promo. Ax says it's shut up or put up. Crush said they wanted a taste of Demolition and they got one. Smash says it's a small taste of what will happen to both of them at Summerslam.

Bad News Brown does a promo with his boxed cage which supposedly holds sewer rats. The box is moving around. Brown said his boys are ready to go and he hasn't fed them in a month. He said they can't wait to get their big teeth in Damien. Brown says he doesn't care nothing about The Boss Man and will ghetto blaster him after he gets done with Jake.

Jake Roberts does a promo and said Boss Man will just keep out of the way. Jake says snakes aren't vegetarians and neither is he. Jake says we'll give the sewer rats to Damien and Jake says he'll take Brown.

Obviously, the sewer rat thing was stupid, especially since we couldn't even see them.

Macho King Randy Savage does a promo with Sherri. He said  Dusty has to go up against him and there's no one better. Macho says he's better than the best. Sherri said she's had it with her and said she can't stand her. 

They said Rick Martel is out of his match with Tito Santana as Martel has a modelling job in Paris. Gene says The Warlord will replace him.

They say Brother love will receive a special award from Sgt. Slaughter.

"Ravishing" Rick Rude vs Mike Pocari

Rude does his usual lines before this starts. Rude hits forearms then hits a dropkick. Rude throws him out and they interview some of the fans about who will win Warrior/Rude on an inset. Rude hits elbow drops then rude awakenings him for the win.

It was a quick squash as expected with Mike getting nothing in.

WWF Event Center with Sean Mooney

Sean says the next Boston Garden show is on 9/15/1990. Nikolai Volkoff does a promo. He said he thinks Slaughter is jealous of him. He said Slaughter used to be his idol. Nik said the American people opened his eyes but Nik says Slaughter's eyes are closed. He said something like differences aren't a reason to fight, but a reason to be friends.

Power and Glory do a promo with Slick. Slick says The Rockers will find out it's easier to jump on than jump off with Power and Glory. Herc says he doesn't think The Rockers have it in themselves to compete with them. He said he doesn't think they will get past Summerslam. Herc says there's no mercy at Summerslam.

The Brother Love Show

Love says his guest is the man who made the biggest mistake of his career. He said this man's career will come to an end at Summerslam. He says fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on you. He brings out Hulk Hogan.

Love asks Hulk if he has heard of The Lone Ranger. He said Hulk will be called that at Summerslam as no one will be in his corner. He said Tugboat suffered the same fate as him. He said he will never be the same man again. Hulk says everyone knows he's back. Hulk says he's red hot about this thing. He said he feels like taking his head off but he won't.

Hulk said they sneak attacked Tugboat. He said he knew something was going down. He said Tug won't be at Summerslam and said Tug will be back a few days after Summerslam. Hulk said what went down with Tug got his mind going. Hulk said he saw Love, Quake and Hart laughing when he was being wheeled out on the stretcher. He said he thought about Quake when he was in the hospital bed and said Tugboat told him positive things. He realized Hulkamania is the strongest force in the universe and said he never walks alone thanks to the Hulkamaniac's. He said there will be one big Hulkamaniac in his corner and it's The Big Boss Man. Love is shocked.

The Big Boss Man comes out. Boss said everywhere he looks, there are rulebreakers and lawbreakers. He said running around the WWF hurting people is against The Big Boss Man's law. He said when the sentences break out at Summerslam, Quake and Dino will serve hard time. Hulk asks what will Quake do when Hulk and Boss Man run wild on them.

As I've said, I don't get why they switched Tugboat with Boss Man. I don't see what it really accomplished and it doesn't make much sense.

"Texas Tornado" Kerry Von Erich vs Bob Bradley

Kerry takes down Bob then hits armdrags. Mr. Perfect and Bobby Heenan do a promo. Heenan says its make it or break it time at Summerslam. Perfect said he will prove that he's perfect. Kerry takes down Bob and armlocks him. Bob hiptosses Kerry but Kerry rolls through with it and armlocks him.

Bob pounds on Kerry then Kerry hiptosses him. Kerry slams him then hits a discus punch for the win.

This was maybe Kerry's best outing so far as he looked a little more interested and agile here. They cut to some girl in the audience on this who is totally drooling over Kerry.

WWF Event Center with Sean Mooney

The Ultimate Warrior says he brings his Warriors two creatures of bad habits who are sick individuals. Then the Legion of Doom come in. Animal rips Demolition for being cheaters and said there will be payback. He said there will be Warriors cheering for Warriors and Doomheads cheering for The LOD. Animal says Demolition has met their match. Hawk says they know where they are going and its to take Demolition down.

Roddy Piper and Vince McMahon hype up next week's show.

Overall thoughts: Summerslam is in two days here. Sapphire said the biggest gift of all comes at Summerslam, it will be Tito vs Warlord instead of Martel and The Big Boss Man will take Tug's place in Hogan's corner. We got a rare pairing of Ax and Crush of Demolition here and Kerry had one of his better outings so far. It wasn't great or anything but there were some last minute things thrown in for Summerslam, which is only 2 days away.
