WWE NXT 3/5/2024 NXT Roadblock

Lexis King is on the roof with a car. He says we are hitting the pavement and going full speed on the road to Stand and Deliver. He said Melo wants the ball in his court. He said there's only one Don of NXT and he handles things his own way. He asks who will be next to challenge Ilja Dragunov and said there can only be one king of the road. He said he loves crazy in his life, but who wants a piece of Gacy and Dijak? He said being a loose cannon can pay off and shows Tatum and Lyra. He said he's ready and asks if we are.

Asylum Match - Joe Gacy vs Dijak

This match is a cage match with weapons in it. They grab a fire extinguisher and a chair. Gacy is thrown into the cage. Dijak stomps him then is sent into the cage several times. A box is in the ring that says do not open. Gacy goes to open it and is stomped. Dijak opens the box and is hit with a boxing glove from it. Gacy sprays him with the fire extinguisher then northern lights bombs him.

We go to PiP break and Gacy stomps him. Dijak spinning face kicks him. Gacy ddt's him then trashcans him in the back. Gacy pump kicks him in the corner. Dijak's head is banged off the cage. Gacy goes for a top rope german but is flung off onto a trash can. Dijak moonsaults him off the top of the cage for 2.

Dijak puts Gacy in the straightjacket then pounds on him. Gacy backdrops him. Gacy grabs a table with his logo on it then Dijak chairs him. Dijak gets knocked off the top rope through a table and Gacy swantons him off the 2nd rope. Dijak hits a big lariat.

Gacy grabs duct tape and puts it around Gacy's head. Dijak kendo sticks him then Gacy uranages him. Dijak throws Gacy into a door for 2. Dijak hits a GTH. Gacy no sells it then Dijak hits another GTH. Dijak wins it.

While it was creative, they went overboard and did too much like they usually do. You really shouldn't have issues finishing off a dude who is blinded and in a straightjacket yet Dijak did. The cage moonsault should have been the end of it and either the door or the table spot would have also been enough to end this one. But they just kept going.

Adrianna Rizzo and Stacks talk to Tony. They put him over for his move last week. Tony says we are on to bigger things and says the NXT title at Stand and Deliver is in their sights. Stacks brings in Luca Crusifino and Tony puts him over. Tony said he needs a consigliere and offers him the role. Luca says he's in and they shake on it. Tony then kisses him.

Fallon Henley and Riley Osborne talk. She thanks him for talking to Thea. Riley said she was bored and wasn't herself on their date. Riley said she was a firecracker but she wasn't on their date. Fallon said she got bad advice and was told to play hard to get.

Blair Davenport walks in, asking her what problem she is trying to fix now. She says she should stay out of other people's business. She said Thea isn't Riley's type and smiles at him. Fallon asks how she would know his type and tells her to set her straight if she has a problem. Blair said she wouldn't want that.

Lyra is in the locker room. Tatum comes up to her and said they will be more than just friends, they will be tag champs. Lyra said they have to be realistic and there's a chance they might not. Lyra said Sane and Asuka are the best of the best. She said they had only match together. Tatum said she would do anything she has to do tonight. She said she will take our her opponents souls tonight and Lyra asks if she will do that for her or for the titles. Tatum asks if it matters and then leaves.

NXT Tag Titles - The Wolfdogs vs Chase U (Andre Chase and Duke Hudson)

Nyx, Thea and Jacy are with them. Jacy and Nyx don't seem impressed. Corbin backs Chase up on the ropes and pushes him. Chase rolls him up for 2 then Chase lariats him. Baron drops him chest first. Chase takes a lariat + german combo.

Bron back elbows Chase then Bron hits a fast running lariat. Chase is thrown up into a gutbuster for 2. Duke lariats Bron over the top and throws Baron out. Chase dropkicks Baron through the ropes then cannonballs on both opponents outside.

We go to PiP break and return. Bron hit a top rope no hands frankensteiner during the break. Bron flips Chase into a cutter for 2. Baron spears the post when Chase moves. Duke gets in and face kicks Bron. Duke running elbows Chase then Duke blackhole slams Bron. Duke side slams Baron for 2.

Duke hits his slingshot german on Baron then Baron takes a rolling flatliner from Chase while on Duke's shoulders. Duke and Bron trade then Baron hiptosses Chase into the buckles. Duke and Bron trade outside. Bron jumps off the apron and lariats Duke over the table. Baron pushes Chase over the top and is punched from the outside. Bron goes into the steps when Chase moves.

Chase top rope crossbodies Baron for 2. Chase superkicks Baron then Baron hits a deep six on him. Bron spears Chase and picks up the win.

It was a good match as expected and The Wolfdogs won as expected. It was far from anyone's best work as they just didn't have the time or the spot on the card for an epic one here. Chase U is still getting booed for some reason. Bron looked good here as he usually does.

The girls and Riley check on Chase and Duke after. Jacy gives Thea the L sign for loser. Thea then runs off.

Carmelo is interviewed in the back with security behind him. He says Ilja was disgraceful last week. Melo asks when have you seen him back down from a fight. Melo says Tony will do what he does but says he handpicked his own security guards tonight. He said his guards will do whatever they have to in order to save him. Melo said the NXT Title is reserved for the biggest star in NXT, and there's no bigger star than him. He says he will make history and go back to back at Stand and Deliver and the win the NXT title because he is him.

Shawn Spears vs Uriah Connors

This is Connors' NXT debut and he has an awful name. Spears has a chair with him so he's still doing the chair gimmick. Spears backs him up and says something in his ear. He tells UC to hit him and UC does. Spears headbutts him in the chest then hits knees to the head. Spears death valley drivers him then wins in a quick squash.

Spears gets on the mic after. He said it takes a certain type of man to hold a mirror up to humanity. He says we are forced to be what we are instead of what we want to be. Spears calls out Ridge Holland and said it hits too close to home for him. He said he doesn't believe he fights for his family. He said he's not a shamed when he holds the mirror up to his face, unlike Ridge.

Ridge Holland comes out and nails Spears. Ridge stomps on him then throws him after punches. Ridge grabs a chair and refs stop him.

Josh Briggs goes up to Brooks Jensen. He said he heard he's fighting Oba Femi next week. He asks if he's sure he wants to do this. Brooks said he was told to get some balls and that's what he's doing. Brooks says he's a monster but he triggered something in him. Brooks says he will be ready to bust him up and be ready to become North American champ next week whether he supports him or not Briggs says good luck.

Dijak comes in. He said he calls him a brother but he lies to his face. He says Brooks is a dead man walking and Briggs knows it.

Ilja Dragunov is interviewed. He said when you are NXT champ, you can't be surprised by anything. He says he likes Tony and says he's a man with a vision. Ilja said they may see the end of the vision differently. He said if Melo wants another opportunity, he needs to earn it. Stacks and Luca come in. Stacks says Tony is making moves, one way or the other. He said Tony D will see him at Stand and Deliver. Ilja says he can't wait for this match.

WWE Women's Tag Titles - The Kabuki Warriors (c) vs Lyra Valkyria and Tatum Paxley

Lyra and Asuka go at it. Lyra armdrags her and rolls her into a pin attempt. Asuka backs off and tags out. Sane clubs Tatum then  spanks her butt at her. She does a bridge and a pose then grabs her by the hair. They go face to face. Sane slaps her and they trade forearms.

Sane headscissors her using the ropes then Asuka sliding kicks Tatum from the apron. Tatum hits Asuka then takes a spin kick and Kawada kicks. Tatum is bulldoged into a basement dropkick. We go to the back and Thea is fighting with Kiana and Izzi with the refs separating them.

Sane waistlocks Tatum on the mat then Tatum backflips over her and gets her back. Tatum hits a corner boot flurry on Sane. Sane takes a double hiptoss then Tatum and Lyra hit stereo dropkicks. They then do stereo dropkicks through the ropes.

We go to PiP break and return. Sane clubs on Tatum and ankle locks her. Lyra top rope crossbodies Sane then lariats her. Lyra springboard twisting crossbodies Asuka and Sane and Sane seems injured. Lyra ddt's Asuka. Tatum hits a side fisherman buster on Asuka and Lyra fisherman busters Sane. Lyra northern lights suplexes Sane for 2.

Asuka codebreakers Lyra then Sane headhunters Lyra off of it. Lyra is sandwiched with shots for 2. Lyra and Asuka trade kicks and Asuka pop-up knees her. Lyra rolls up Asuka for 2 then Lyra step up enzugiri's her. Asuka is in a Tatum backbreaker and Lyra top rope legdrops Asuka.

Lyra hits kicks on Sane then spinning high kicks Tatum. Sane uraken's Tatum then Asuka kicks Tatum in the back of the head. Tatum takes a top rope elbow from Sane while Asuka holds her. Sane picks up the pin on Tatum.

Sane looked like she got injured here. Something was not right at all and I was really surprised they kept it moving. It was a decent match and the ending of Lyra nailing Tatum was interesting.

Roxanne Perez attacks Lyra after, knocking Tatum out of the ring. Lyra's shoulder is sent into the post. Perez puts Lyra's arm over the rope connector then stomps it down. Staff come out to help Tatum. Well, it looks like Perez is now a full heel.

We go to break and return. Lyra is being put in an ambulance. Shawn Michaels talks to Ava Raine about it.

Fallon Henley vs Blair Davenport

Blair side headlocks her then Fallon ties up her arm. Blair forearms her then Fallon back elbows her. Fallon kicks her in the face then slides out and punches her. Fallon bodyscissors her then Blair bangs Fallon's arm over the top rope. Blair stomps the arm over the ropes.

Blair arm whips her down then fujiwara armbars her while grabbing the fingers. Fallon hits some shots then swinging facebusters her. Fallon lariats Blair over the top then is sent into the steps. Blair misses a knee and goes into the steps. Sol Ruca then appears on the rails and cartwheels into a ddt on her. Fallon does a leg lariat and wins it.

Well, Sol is back. This was a short one here with Blair mostly working the arm before Sol interfered. I don't love Fallon winning via cheating but at least they are following up on Sol and Blair. 

Chase, Duke, Jacy and Nyx talk in the back. Jacy said the titles slipped right through their fingers. She said Duke came up short and asked if she had to win the match herself. Thea runs in and is going nuts, saying she just got into a fight with Izzi and Kiana. Thea says Jacy will be her partner. Jacy says she's busy next week and says sorry.

The No Quarter Catch Crew see the Heritage Cup get polished.

Ava Raine and Gigi Dolin talk in the back. She said someone is refusing to face Gigi, saying they would run away immediately. Gigi said it's not about beating her, it's about punching her in the face. Arianna said she doesn't want a match with Gigi and doesn't see the point. Gigi said fighting is what they do. Grace says she will accept, but Gigi has to let her bring out her true inner beauty if she wins. She has to let her show her how to be a true lady and how to get rid of that vulgar language. Gigi agrees.

Shawn Spears is in the parking lot. He says he is counting on Ridge wanting a match with him next week. He says rage is Ridge's best friend and he will teach him to embrace it next week.

The No Quarter Catch Crew are in the ring. Drew said thanks to Dempsey, The Heritage Cup sits with them. Dempsey said he was interested in the cup for a long time. He said the cup aligns with his vision of the purity of the sport. He said the cup isn't his alone. Kemp says they are all champs as a collective and said any member of the NQCC can defend this cup due to the catch clause. Gulak said they will enter themselves in the tag team elimination tournament. He said they will be tag champs along with being Heritage Cup champs.

William Regal comes out. The crowd chants "that's your father" at Dempsey. Regal says the Cup means the world to him as it represents competitors from the British and European scenes. He said every time it's contested, it's a tribute to all the people who came before him. He said he hopes he will defend the cup with the honor and integrity it deserves. Dempsey said he will defend the cup better than Regal ever could. Regal said he will be watching.

Noam Dar is in a trance again in the lounge. Oro and Lash talk about him. Lash said she can't do this again. Lash asks if he's okay and he says he's never been better. Dar says the past is the past and it's time for the future. He says they will move onto better things.

Mr. Stone watches Lexis King talk about him and Von. Von says he's not done with Lexis and will smash him. Stone said King assaulted him and made this personal. He says to step aside so he can fight King. Stone says let me do this and let me do it alone.

Winner gets a title shot - Tony D'Angelo vs Carmelo Hayes

Melo charges at him with a forearms and hits a flurry. Melo step up enzugiri's him then clubs on him. Tony shoulders him over and rolls him into a throw. Tony corner spears him then hits karelin's lift for 2.

Melo chops him then Tony hits shots to the gut. Tony throws him and hits a superman punch/forearm. Tony back elbows him off the apron and Melo's security guards catch him. We go to PiP break and return.

Melo fujiwara armbars him. Tony throws him off and they trade shots. Melo kicks him then takes a belly to belly suplex. Tony spinebusters him for 2 then does a backdrop variation for 2. Melo hits boots and is rolled and carried. Melo gets out and does his suplex into a cutter for 2.

Melo is pulled off the ropes and dropped like a powerbomb for 2. Melo codebreakers him for 2. Melo goes up top and Trick Williams' music hits. Trick doesn't come out and Tony spinebusters Trick. Tony hits a fisherman's buster and wins it.

It was weird that we saw the faces cheat to win twice on this show. It was okay but not a great main. They didn't do anything special here but Tony worked a little better then he has here.

Tony gets on the mic after. He says he apologizes for the stunt he pulled. He said he is a giving Don and got him a present. Trick Williams then comes in and beats up Melo and the security guards. Trick totally misses a shot and Melo jumps up then Melo gets out of the ring. Security holds Melo back.

Overall thoughts: We had 6 matches here. I didn't like the cage match. The Wolfdogs/Chase U match was good but not great. Shawn Spears got a quick squash win here. I swear Sane got injured in the women's tag title match, which was okay otherwise. Fallon and Blair wasn't that great. The main was okay but like the Fallon match, had cheating faces. Sol Ruca and Trick Williams made their returns here. It was a fine show with some decent matches but nothing was must see here.
