We're in Omaha. Nebraska. Jesse says Omaha is the home to the strategic air command and said Vince and the Hulkamaniacs should run for cover. He said we're on red alert and Quake is gonna drop the big one on Hulk. He said Hulkamania will be wiped out forever when the dust clears.

The Hart Foundation vs Al Burke and Tom Stone

Bret gives a fan his sunglasses. Bret side headlocks Tom then shoulders him over. Bret elbow drops Tom then atomic drops him. Bret hits punches then bangs his opponents heads together. The Hart Foundation do an inset promo. They ask if Demolition can feel the heat a week before Summerslam. Bret said it doesn't matter which two show up, just make sure you are wearing the belts. Jim pounds on Stone then holds him up for the hart attack. Stone is then pinned.

It was just a quick squash here that didn't even go two minutes.

WWF Update with Mean Gene Okerlund

Gene tells us the only way we can see Summerslam is through PPV. We see The Texas Tornado challenge Mr. Perfect for the IC Title. Bobby Heenan and Mr. Perfect accept the challenge. Heenan says it will backfire on him. Perfect says it will explode in his face and says he will feel the heat of Mr. Perfect. The Texas Tornado does a promo and says it's one week until Summerslam. He said he was ready a week ago and is feeling better than he ever felt in his life. He said he's coming fists and fire and says the tornado will land. He said we will find out that Mr. Perfect is not absolutely perfect.

Gene says he will be back with The Summerslam Report later.

"Macho King" Randy Savage vs Jim Evans

Sherri has the Macho King wrestling buddy. Jim looks like a young Shawn Michaels. Sherri has some fans in the audience holding up a poster of her. Macho throws his jacket and Jim and goes after him. Macho hits a knee to the gut then kicks him in the ribs. Jim is thrown out to the floor then Macho double axe handles him off the top rope to the outside. Macho slams him then hits a top rope elbow drop. Macho then picks up the pin.

It was a quick squash with Jim getting nothing in here before being beaten. 

Sherri beats Jim with the wrestling buddy after then Macho throws Jim out to the floor.

They cut to Sapphire at what looks like a car dealership, but this version cuts away from it. 

WWF Event Center with Sean Mooney

Sean hypes up tonight's Boston Garden 8/18/1990 show. Sean calls Power and Glory "The Power and The Glory". Rick Martel does a promo. Rick Martel says when he was in Europe, he was offered big modelling contracts. He said he turned them down as something is missing in his wardrobe and it's the WWF belt. He said no one can wear that belt with more elegance than him. He said Snuka is standing in his way and he will send him back to the jungle where he belongs. He said he will spray the sweet of victory after as only he can do it with style.

Hillbilly Jim does a promo. He said it's accepted that a man stands up for his buddies. He said he didn't like the way Herc did that. He said he thinks Herc changed his way of thinking and said it's time to do an attitude check. He said he can lay something upside his head that will make him come to his senses.

The Summerslam Report with Mean Gene Okerlund

Gene says Summerslam is sold out and he runs down the card. Rick Rude and Bobby Heenan do a promo with a cage there. Heenan says time is important in Warrior's life. He said he won the title in April and said in August, he will lose the title. Rude said his mind is focused on The Ultimate Warrior. He says the past is over and said when the cage door is locked, his hopes and dreams will wash down the drain. He said he will become the new WWF champ.

The Ultimate Warrior does a promo behind a cage. He talks about his Warriors and said he walks to Summerslam as champ and leaves the ultimate champion. I didn't understand most of this.

Demolition do a promo. Ax said The Hart Foundation got everything they wanted in the Summerslam match. Crush said they may think all their problems are solved but they forgot the stipulation that stays in their favor. Smash says they still don't know which two Demolition they will fight.

They cut to Sargent Slaughter, but this version of the show cut away from it.

The Rockers vs Tom Bennett and Black Bart

Jesse said The Rockers will get a taste of their own medicine with illegal double teams at Summerslam against Power and Glory. Marty hiptosses Bart then crossbodies him. Marty hits lariats then lifts up Tom. Shawn 2nd rope back elbows Tom then hits a nice suplex.

Tom takes a double back elbow then takes a rocker dropper from Marty. The Rockers do double top rope fist drops and get the win here.

This was a quick squash. Shawn ends up getting injured somewhere between this and Summerslam, messing up their match with Power and Glory.

The Brother Love Show

Earthquake, Jimmy Hart and Dino Bravo are Love's guests. They all hug Love. Jimmy's jacket says Hulkamania is dead and Jimmy laughs about it. He said Hulk and Tugboat better have a lot of earthquake insurance. Love says Tugboat won't be able to push the world's strongest man around. Dino says Tugboat won't be doing anything come Summerslam. Quake says Hulk is the one who made a mistake. He said he's the only one to put Hulk out of commission. He said he will send him back to the hospital bed once and for all. He says it will be "The Mortal" Hulk Hogan and said Hulkamania will be dead.

Bad News Brown vs Jim Powers

Brown misses a charge and gets dropkicked. Jim hits punches on him then takes a double boot. Brown headbutts him then bangs his head off the buckles. Jake Roberts does an inset. He said hunger is something he has had for years and said he is never satisfied. He tells him to bring the rats and he needs a little bit more.

Brown slams Jim then elbow drops him. Jim hits shots on Brown then Brown eye rakes him. Brown drops Jim on the ropes throat first then pulls on his face. Brown lariats Jim then hits a ghetto blaster enzugiri. Brown then pins him with one foot on his chest.

It was a squash as expected. Jim got a little in early and that was about it. 

Brown throws Jim out after.

WWF Event Center with Sean Mooney

Sean hypes up tonight's Boston Garden 8/18/1990 show. The Hart Foundation and Hacksaw Jim Duggan do a promo. Neidhart says Demolition are a pack of yellow hyenas and attacked them 3v2. Duggan asks what Demolition expected them to do. Duggan said they are coming down with one thing in mind - demolishing the demolition.

Boris Zhukov says he can't believe Volkoff wants to get in the ring after what happened last time. He said he won't have the ref on his side and said Volkoff will have to salute the flag when he waves it. Boris says Volkoff knows Russia is #1 and something that he can't change or run from. Boris says this is something he is looking forward to. 

They go to Hulk Hogan but this version of the show cuts away from it.

Tugboat vs Bob Bradley

Bob hits shots on Tug and tries to crossbody him. Tug catches him and backbreakers him. Tug gets booed for some reason then throws him down by the neck. Tug corner splashes Bob then Dino Bravo runs in. No result was announced for this but Tug should have won via DQ.

Dino clubs and boots Tug. Tug lariats him and Dino does a nice sell for it. Tug bearhugs him then Earthquake and Jimmy Hart come down. Quake nails Tug from behind and Tug takes a 2v1. Tug is double slammed by Quake and Bravo. Quake butt drops Tug twice. Dino stomps Tug then The Big Boss Man comes out. Boss hits Dino with his night stick and Quake runs for it. Tug is laid out and the stretcher is brought out. Jesse said there will be no Tugboat for Summerslam. We then cut away. 

I ended up seeing Summerslam 1990 a bit before I did this. Tugboat indeed does not appear. I can't really understand it as he was not injured. He was heavily pushed as Hulk's best buddy and it's very strange to have him out of the picture when he's been pushed as such an important part of the Quake/Hogan feud for months now. Bruce Prichard said they wanted to turn Tugboat heel as Sheik Tugboat but gave it up when Sgt. Slaughter came into the picture. With Tugboat only being Hogan's second here, I don't see what difference it would have made to keep him in the fold.

WWF Event Center with Sean Mooney

Sean hypes up tonight's Boston Garden 8/18/1990 show. Demolition do a promo. Ax says Duggan will be blamed for the loss. Crush talks about making a Duggan sandwich and Smash says The Hart's will suck Duggan's thumb when they leave the ring.

Dusty Rhodes does a promo. He said he has got him that pumpkin head Brother Love. Dusty said he knows Sapphire loves the trinkets he's been getting but her mind is steady on the gameplan. Dusty said he will have Miss Elizabeth in his corner and will duke it to him.

We see Tugboat get stretchered away. Big Boss Man helps Tug get on the stretcher and a female fan cries. Jesse says Tugboat will not be in Hogan's corner. Tug is stretchered out as the show ends.

Overall thoughts: The big news is that Tugboat got attacked and is now out of the Summerslam 1990 picture. It's hard to understand why this happened and the explanations we got didn't do much to explain anything. There wasn't a lot else going on here otherwise. Summerslam is set for the most part and some of the wrestlers are resorting to repeating promos for that and the Boston Garden 8/18/1990 show due to all of the talking they have had to do. I don't recommend this one.
