WWE Summerslam 2026 Night 2 8/2/2026

WWE Summerslam 2026 Night 2 8/2/2026

Night 1 is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2026/08/wwe-summerslam-2026-night-1-812026.html

We are in Minneapolis, MN. Michael Cole and Wade Barrett are on commentary.

They sing the national anthem to start.

We see various wrestlers arrive.

Nick Aldis comes out before the Finn/Sami match starts. He says he's reinstated as Smackdown GM. He has a black eye. He says he's adding a participant to this matchup and it's Gunther. Why he would do this is unknown since he's been feuding with Gunther for months, but this story has never made sense. Gunther gets in the ring. He says he's adding another participant as well to make this fatal four way. It's Kevin Owens.

#1 Contender to the Undisputed WWE Title - Sami Zayn vs. Finn Balor vs Gunther vs Kevin Owens

KO hits shots on Finn and corner lariats Gun. Sami is shocked in the corner. KO corner cannonballs Finn and Gun. Sami and KO hug then punch each other. KO lariats and sentons him. KO top rope swantons everyone outside. KO top rope swantons Gun inside. Gun sleepers him.

Gun facekicks Finn then KO on the apron. Gun knees Sami in the gut and chops him down. Finn hits shots on Gun. Finn elbow slices Gun. Gun chops Finn down. Finn slingblades Gun and Sami. Gun shotgun dropkicks Finn then powerbombs him for 2. Gun crabs him and KO facekicks Gun. KO hits shots on Gun then boots him in the corner.

KO lariats Gun. KO 2nd rope twisting suplexes Finn. Sami throws KO out and gets a 2 count on Finn. Finn knocks Sami off the buckles then KO knocks Finn off the buckles. KO tries a top rope swanton but Sami gets his knees up. KO holds his neck/head. The ref backs up Sami. Gun intercepts Sami's helluva kick with a sleeper. Finn top rope double stomps Sami.

Gun chops Finn and Finn gets a 2 count on him. KO stunners Finn and then Gun. Sami blue thunders KO for 2. KO superkicks Sami then stunners him. KO pins Sami.

Thoughts: It was a shorter but entertaining bout here. There was lots of fast action and lots of things happening. This was totally random and I assume Sami/KO will have some words over this. It was a good choice for an opener. Gunther loses yet another match where either a title or title shot is on the line and there's no way you can justify him being in contention for a title right now.

WWE United States Title - Trick Williams (c) vs. Baron Corbin

Trick hits shots on Baron and flapjacks him. Trick backhands him down and stomps him. Trick lariats Baron over the top. Baron is sent into the rails. Trick pulls out a Slim Jim Table. Baron hits a deep six on the floor. Baron sends him into the rails, post and steps.

Baron hits mounted shots on Trick. Baron hits punches in the corner. Baron lariats him down and hits mounted shots on his neck. Baron bangs Trick's face off the mat. Trick fights back from the apron and Baron eye rakes him. Baron grabs Little Yachty and sends him into the rails. Yachty grabs a kendo stick and Baron backs off.

Trick back elbows him in the ring then jumping neckbreakers him. Trick hits leg lariats and uranage's him. Baron rakes the eyes. Yachty hits Baron with the kendo stick and Trick cradle shocks Baron for 2.

Trick corkscrew facekicks him for 2. Baron pulls Trick's throat over the top rope. Baron grabs the US Title outside and Yachty grab sit. Baron grabs him and Yachty gets knocked off the apron through a table. Baron hits Trick with the US Title then hits an end of days for the win.

Thoughts: Big upset here as I did not see Baron winning. What we got was acceptable and worked a little better than I thought it would. It didn't get a ton of time.

Interim WWE Women's Title - Ladder Match - Tiffany Stratton vs. Jade Cargill vs. Chelsea Green vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Lash Legend

Jade goes after Flair in the aisle. Jade is sent into the rails and Flair is sent into a ladder. Jade's head is banged off a ladder. Tiff is caught jumping off the steps and Lash powerbombs her into a ladder. Green's tope is caught by Lash and she is chokeslammed into a ladder.

Green is thrown over the rail. Flair kicks Lash and chops her. Lash blocks a forward handspring lariat. Lash slams Flair onto a ladder. Tiff and Green hit superkicks on Lash and Jade. They hit attacks on the ropes on Lash and Jade. Tiff and Green hit stereo mounted corner punches. Jade and Lash pump kick them down.

Jade germans Lash. Flair top rope crossbodies Jade. Flair hits Jade in the gut with a ladder. Lash gorilla press drops Flair. Tiff jumps off a ladder and codebreakers Lash. Tiff and Flair trade forearms. Tiff is dropped face first on a ladder. Green top rope dropkicks Flair. Flair is flapjacked onto a ladder on the ropes.

Green climbs a ladder and Jade jade end's her onto a ladder laying on the 2nd rope. Tiff backcrackers Jade. Tiff's head is banged off a ladder. Tiff rams a ladder in Lash's gut in the corner. Lash's head is banged off a ladder. Lash 2nd rope pop-up drops Tiff on a ladder on the 2nd rope.

Lash is sent into a ladder. Flair hangs from the belt holder in the air. Lash and Jade pull her down. Jade throws Flair into a ladder in the corner. Lash pump kick Jade. Lash and Tiff are on the ladder. Lash is knocked off. Lash pulls her down and is headscissored into a corner ladder.

Tiff climbs the ladder and Green appears below her. Green tips the ladder over and Tiff swantons onto 3 girls outside. Green climbs the ladder then B-Fab and Michin come out to stop her. Green hangs upside down on the ladder and has her headbanged off of it. Fab running boots her in the head.

Jade gets help to climb the ladder. Flair sends Michin and Fab out. Flair and Jade climb the same ladder. Lash and Tiff climb a ladder 2 ladders over. Tiff and Lash are pushed over. Jade and Flair fight on a ladder and both fall down. Green climbs a ladder and grabs the title. Chelsea Green wins.

Thoughts:
Big upset here with Green winning. I figured Tiff was a lock since this is closer to her hometown. Green winning was not built up that well at all. The match was alright and went a lot better than I expected. They didn't have any big botches and it was mostly safe.

Human Monies on a Pole Match - Danhausen vs. Dominik Mysterio

The money is in a white sack with a dollar sign on it. It's not too high up. Dan rides his car out and he has Bret Hart inspired tights.

Dom hits him and goes for the money. Dan hits punches. Dom knees him in the gut and dropkicks him into the ropes. Dan overhead suplexes him. Dan corner lariats Dom twice. Dom then lariats Dan down. Dom stomps Dan in the corner. Dom suplexes Dan twice. Dan reverse ddt's him.

JD McDonaugh pulls Dan off the buckles and pounds on him. JD boots Dan in the head. JD top rope moonsaults Dan. The minihausen's appear and jump JD. JD boots one, slams another and chokeslams another. A mini dropkicks JD and springboard twisting headbutts him. We are told that one is the former El Torito and they call him "Toritohausen". JD takes a spinning ddt.

One of the mini's climbs the pole. Dom stomps the other Mini. Toritohausen top rope diving headscissors Dom then tope con hilos him through the ropes. JD throws Dan out and sends a mini into the rails. Joe Hendry then comes out with a guitar. Joe boots JD and hits him in the back with the guitar.

Dom boots Dan and they fight on the 2nd rope. Dan gets crotched. Dan curses Dom and fireworks shoot out of the pole on Dom. Dan then grabs the money and wins.

Thoughts: It was mostly all shenanigan here and nothing too great wrestling wise. At least Dom didn't eat a pin over this. Joe has really lost rank as he is now stuck doing this.

Dan throws money into the crowd after.

The Killer Bees, Rick "The Model" Martel, Greg Gagne and Molly Holly are in the crowd.

WWE Intercontinental Title - Penta (c) vs Chad Gable

They shake hands and Penta holds on to talk. Chad takes down Penta and ankle locks him. Penta flying headscissors Chad. Chad russian legsweeps him and koppo kicks him. Penta boots Chad out of the corner and facebusters him. Penta rib breakers him for 2.

Penta chops Chad. Penta's springboard is caught and Chad germans him. Chad hits 2 more germans for a 2 count. Chad is pulled into the bucklers shoulder first. Penta's up and over is blocked. Chad top rope moonsaults but is superkicked in mid-air for 2.

Chad rolls him into ankle lock but Chad is sent out. Penta tope con hilos him outside. Penta hits a made in Japan for 2. They trade chops. Chad overhead belly to belly suplexes him into the buckles. Chad comes off the top, Penta blocks it and cranks his arm back for 2. Chad's head is busted open.

Penta hits kicks on him while he's down. Penta superkicks him. Chad backrolls him into an ankle lock. Chad armbars him over the top rope. Penta kicks him in the gut. Chad germans him on the apron. Chad top rope moonsaults him outside. Chad top rope diving headbutts him for 2.

Penta 2nd rope diving canadian destroyers him on the apron for 2. Chad ankle locks him again. Chad grounds him and Penta submits.

Thoughts:
Chad won since he's in his home state. I didn't think this was good. Penta's selling was bad and the canadian destroyer on the apron should have finished Chad. Hopefully this title win helps out Chad here as he's been dead in the water since returning without his mask.

Chad cries. Penta takes the belt from Chad after and puts it around his waist. Chad's family joins him in the ring after. Chad talks on the mic. He says his name is Chad Gable and says he was born, raised and lives in Minneapolis. He says this is his family who has stood by him. He says he can finally say he is the IC champ. We then get some MUG Root Beer dog mascot that gives hi root beer.

Joe Tessitore, Corey Graves and Big E talk about the main event.

World Heavyweight Title - Roman Reigns (c) vs Seth Rollins

Seth comes out with The Shield's intro. He has a Shield mask on and white/purple/green gear.

They have words with each other to start. RR backs up Seth in the corner and shoves him. Seth side headlocks RR and RR shoulders him over. They side headlock each other and Seth slingblades him.

Seth chops and punches him. Seth chops him in the corner then hits mounted corner punches. RR hits lariats. Seth superkicks him. Seth misses a corner splash and RR jumping lariats him. RR hits lariats in the corner. RR facekicks him.

Seth spinning forearms him then lariats him over the top. Seth topes him into the rails twice. Seth then topes him into the commentary table. Seth goes for another tope and is hit. RR drive by kicks him on the apron. RR lariats Seth over the rail and into the crowd. They fight in the crowd. Seth's head is banged off a rail. Seth hits him with a post. Seth is suplexed onto some steel on the floor.

RR says he's #1 and Seth is #2. RR hits mounted shots on Seth. Seth spears RR for 2. Seth says he takes the #1 spot from him tonight. Seth buckle bombs RR. RR buckle bombs him. RR curb stomps Seth for 2. They talk to each other more and get up. They hit each other. RR uppercuts him and the ref is knocked over. Seth rebound lariats him (channeling Mox). RR double underhook ddt's him (channeling Mox). RR goes to spear him but nails the ref. Seth curbstomps RR.

Seth grabs a chair. RR drops him with an uppercut. RR grabs the chair but throws it down. They stare down and hockey fight. They trade more shots. Seth slaps him around and RR headbutts him. RR clubs on him. Seth superkicks him in the gut and hits Kawada kicks. RR uppercuts him. Seth superkicks him and RR superman punches him.

RR goes for a spear and Seth pedigrees him in mid-air. Seth curbstomps RR. Seth misses a top rope stomp and is speared. RR spears him. RR spears him and pins him.

Thoughts: Roman won totally clean here. It got enough time. They did some callbacks to The Shield and did each other's moves here. It was a slower match and they did a lot of talking here. They started with the finisher trading at about the midpoint of the match after some weak brawling in the crowd. It was alright but nothing too great and it was similar to other Roman big main event matches. I figured Seth would win here to continue the angle they were pushing about Roman not being able to beat Seth, but that was not the case. I'm not sure where this leaves Seth now and it seems like a Smackdown run may be in his future.

Roman wants to do The Shield fist pose after and Seth does it with him.

Overall thoughts
: The opener was entertaining. Trick/Baron was acceptable and the ladder match was alright. Dom/Danhausen was all shenanigans. I didn't like Penta/Gable that much. The main was alright but it was slower and had a lot of finishers. The main was probably the match of the night due to a lack of other candidates. The show really could have used a stronger semi-main event and some bigger moments as this was nowhere close to WWE's best work. I liked Summerslam Night 1 more than Night 2 but would give it the same rating of a 6 out of 10. It was okay overall.

Liv goes for a moonsault off the top but Liv gets her boots up. Iyo headflips out of oblivion and is codebreakered. Liv hits oblivion again and pins her.

Thoughts: There wasn't a great story or anything but I liked what we got. Both girls tried a bit harder than usual, they didn't botch and things went well for the most part. I was a little surprised to see Liv win and am curious as to where this leaves Iyo now.

The Bloodline are in the back and Jey hypes up Jimmy.

We see some legends in the crowd like X-Pac, Dan Spivey and Jimmy Hart.

We get a Gears of War video game ad before the next match with some rubble on the stage and some skull graphics on the tron.

Jey goes up top, LA jumps up there and superplexes him. Jey top rope splashes LA. Solo uranage's Jimmy then Fatu impaler ddt's Solo. Keys spinebusters Fatu. Fatu superkicks Keys outside. Keys powerslams Fatu over the timekeeper's rail. LA rolls up Jey for 2. Jey spears LA. Jimmy top rope splashes LA for 2. LA hits a BFT on Jey and pins him.

Thoughts
: It was okay but more suitable for a Raw match than a big show like this. They just didn't go all out or get to do anything special. The match did flow well though and probably worked out as good as it was going to go. Keys' powerslam over the rail was the highlight of this.

Gunther vs. Nick Aldis

They lock up. Gun wristlocks him. Nick kips up out of it and reverses it. Gun side headlocks him. Gun shoulders him over then side headlock takeovers him. Gun slides out and poses on the commentary table. Gun backs him up in the corner and chops him. Nick punches back. Gun jumps at him and is caught with a suplex for 2.

Nick cloverleaf's Gun and Gun ropebreaks.

Gun goes for a sleeper then Nick goes for one. Gun saito suplexes him and powerbombs him for 2. Gun hits downward elbows on Nick and grounded chokes him. Nick then taps out.

Thoughts: It was an okay bout here. Nick looked fine though he was definitely getting a little tired by the end. Gun got the win as expected. It's nice to see Nick finally get to wrestle in WWE after never getting a chance despite checking all the boxes.

Nick's wife and kid come into the ring after to hug him.

Tommy Dreamer and Bubba Ray Dudley are shown in the crowd as part of Busted Open Radio.

The Bella Twins (Nikki Bella and Brie Bella) and Paige vs. Fatal Influence (Jacy Jayne, Lainey Reid, and Fallon Henley)

Fallon forearms down Brie (long pants). Brie knees her in the gut and russian legsweeps her. Brie hits chest kicks on Fallon. The heels have their heads banged off the steps (not Jacy though). Paige and Nikki dive off the apron on their opponents.

Brie goes up top and is pulled down by Jacy. LR stomps Brie's face into the steps. Jacy cannonballs Brie against the steps. Jacy sentons Brie for 2. LR running euros Brie in the corner and chinlocks her. Brie back elbows LR.

Brie lariats LR. Nikki hits running lariats on LR. Nikki neckbreakers Jacy, forcing her to ddt Fallon. Nikki facebusters LR for 2. LR cradles Nikki for 2. Nikki forearms LR. Paige cannonballs Fallon from the apron.

Jacy superkicks Paige in the ring. Brie surprises Jacy with a forearm. LR sunset flips Nikki then pumping knees her. Nikki takes like a double team fisherman's suplex for 2. Fallon swinging facebusters Brie then dances. Nikki and Fallon forearm each other down.

Paige slingshot sunset flips Jacy. Jacy spinning forearms Paige  and pins her.

Thoughts: It was an average match. They didn't botch too bad but the work just wasn't great. I'm kind of surprised the faces lost since The Bella's are re-united again here.

The Bella then beat up Paige after in a surprise turn. Brie TKO's Paige and The Bella's leave Paige laying. Nikki says "lesson learned, you'll never take my spot".

We get a cool Street Fighter style character select screen with WWE wrestlers.

Undisputed WWE Title - CM Punk (c) vs Cody Rhodes

Cody comes out to Guile's Street Fighter music with a helmet with Guile's hair on it. Cody is lifted up from under the stage. Punk comes out in Minnesota North Stars themed attire.

They stare down and lock up. Punk double chops him on the break then Cody does the same. They trade chops. Punk hiptosses him and flying headscissors him. Punk kicks and boots Cody in the arm. Punk whips him down by the arm and hammerlocks him.

Punk side headlocks him and Cody shoulders him over twice. Cody side headlock takeovers him. Cody shoulders him over and side headlock takeovers him again. Cody chops Punk and Punk whips him down by the arm. Punk hits chest kicks and yanks the arm.

Punk hits punches and chops on Cody. Punk does another anaconda vice. Cody hits a cross rhodes for 2. Punk is crotched up top. Punk tries a top rope moonsault but he misses and it looks terrible. Punk lariats him down for 2. Punk double axe handles Cody and hits a go to sleep for 2.

Punk bangs Cody's head off the commentary table. Punk is swept on the commentary table. Punk is sent into the steps. Punk hits a GTS on Cody in the ring for 2.

Cody is on the commentary table. Punk misses a top rope elbow drop and goes through the table. Cody walks up the buckles and dives on the ref when Punk moves. Punk hits a GTS on Cody. Cody hits a cross rhodes and Punk rolls out. Randy Orton returns, runs in and RKO's Cody. Punk hits a GTS on Cody and pins him.

Thoughts:
It got a lot of time and had a little bit of a slower pace to it (maybe too slow at times). It was a good match overall with Punk working the arm and Cody working the leg. Randy Orton returned, bringing back his Mania feud with Cody, and at least gave Cody an out here. Punk's top rope moonsault was bad and I was very surprised he tried that dive through the commentary table.

Corey Graves, Big E and Joe Tessitore talk about the Cody/Punk match then hype up the main.

Hell in a Cell Match - Oba Femi vs Brock Lesnar

Paul Heyman stands on the commentary table and does the intro for Brock.

Brock then hits him hard with them. Brock germans him twice and chairs him. Brock suplexes him. Brock suplexes him on chairs. Oba blocks an F-5 and pop-up spinebusters him. Oba hits shots to the gut and running euros him in the corner.

Oba chokeslams him and throws him on a backdrop. Oba sitout powerbombs him for 2. Brock laughs in his face and double boots him. Brock F-5's him. Oba gets up then gets up on another F-5. Brock hits a third F-5 for 2. Brock chairs Oba.

Brock rips the ring canvas and pulls the mat away. Brock does Taker's throat slit and tombstones Oba on the exposed wooden boards. Brock then gets a 2 count while trying to pin him Undertaker style.

Oba punches through a chair and pop-up sitout powerbombs Brock on the mat. Oba pins him.

Thoughts: It wasn't quite a classic. There was no blood and the wildest spots was Oba's bump on the wooden planks. They just never really tried to get this to the next level or do anything too crazy. It was a shorter bout also. It was alright but it could have been a lot more.

Brock hugs Oba after and raises his arm. Brock gets on the mic and says Oba is the future of WWE. They shake hands. Brock says he's the past and Oba is the future.

Overall thoughts:
Liv/Iyo was okay. The trios match was also okay but would have been better suited for Raw or SD. Gunther/Aldis was fine. The women's match was average. Cody/Orton was good and was the match of the night. The main was alright but it was shorter and the risks were kept to a minimum.

Sadly, this was show pretty typical of recent WWE PLE's. The days of classic PLE's with everyone giving their all, getting longer matches and making the show special are long gone and do not seem like they will be coming back. There were tons of commercials breaks and probably as much downtime as there was wrestling. I'd give this a 6 out of 10 overall as the wrestling was fine, but there's nothing you'd need to see here and this isn't something I would ever rewatch. Skip this one.

WWF Summerslam 1992 8/29/1992

WWF Summerslam 1992 8/29/1992

Pre-show thoughts: The build going into this one was maybe the worst build ever to a major PPV. WWF spent months after Wrestlemania VIII building up Flair/Macho, Warrior/Shango, Bret/Shawn, Tatanka/Martel, Money Inc/Natural Disasters, Legion of Doom/Beverly Brothers, Undertaker/Berzerker, Mountie/Sgt. Slaughter and Nailz/Big Boss Man. Every single last one of these matches was cancelled with about a month to go. We got no payoffs on any of them and some were even still being built up on house shows while Summerslam matches were getting set up which created parallel universes. I've never seen anything like it. It was like a Vince had a sudden spell of amnesia. It made all of the television from Wrestlemania VIII to July 1992 completely pointless.

The promotion also took a major hit star power wise after Wrestlemania VIII. Hulk, Sid, Texas Tornado and Roddy Piper were either gone or taking breaks for various reasons. Their replacements including Papa Shango and Nailz were not on the same level.

--------

We are in London, England at Wembley Stadium.

Vince McMahon and Bobby Heenan are our commentators. Bobby puts a crown on and says he's the King of England. Vince says he's a royal pain. Vince wonders whose corner Mr. Perfect will be in tonight.

The Legion of Doom (Hawk and Animal) vs Money Inc. (Ted Dibiase and IRS)

These two were feuding earlier in the year but there was no real build to this one.

IRS gets on the mic beforehand. He says if the British tax cheats paid their fair share, they wouldn't put the burden on the royal family. LOD ride in on motorcycles and have gold shoulderpads. They also have Rocco and Ellering while Inc has Jimmy Hart.

Ted chops Hawk and bangs his head off the buckles. Ted then slides out to avoid a punch. Ted is hit by Animal from behind then lariated over the top. Animal then lariats him on the floor.

IRS hits shots on Animal then is sent hard into the buckles. Animal steps on IRS's tie then gorilla press slams him. Hawk works IRS' arm. IRS eye rakes him then sleepers him. Hawk is nearly out but rams IRS into the corner. He corner lariats him.

Hawk misses a top rope diving clothesline and goes out. Ted slams Hawk on the floor. Hawk's head is banged off of IRS' boot then he is thrown backwards into the buckles. IRS elbow drops Hawk. IRS chinlocks Hawk then Ted puts the chinlock on Hawk. Money Inc then switch for a 2nd time without tagging.

Ted knee drops Hawk. Hawk bangs Ted's head off the buckles. Hawk runs over IRS with a lariat. Ted hits knee drops on Hawk. IRS chokes Hawk with the tag rope. Hawk is double teamed in the corner then IRS and Hawk double clothesline each other.

Animal boots Ted after getting tagged in and flying shoulders him. Animal dropkicks IRS then pounds on Ted. Animal hits a double lariat. IRS is atomic dropped out. Animal corner lariats Ted. Animal electric chairs Ted but IRs dropkicks him. Hawk then drops IRS with a punch.

Ted is thrown into IRS then powerslammed by Animal. Animal then pins him.

Thoughts
: I guarantee the finish happened due to Ted and IRS not wanting to take the doomsday device bump. There's no other explanation for it since the powerslam win was a worse ending. The match was fine with the heels working over Hawk, Animal getting and regaining control then the faces won. They say Hawk was really out of it during this match and the only thing I noticed was that he just didn't have a lot of energy out there.

Mean Gene Okerlund interviews Ric Flair.  Ric says when you talk about the bright lights, the big city and the WWF, you gotta talk about Ric Flair. Ric is asked why he's in his wrestling attire (since he's not on the card) and he says you gotta always be ready for action.

Gene asks about whose corner Mr. Perfect will be in tonight. Ric won't say. He says he's in the dressing room...the dressing room of the winner.

Sean Mooney interviews Virgil. Virg says Nailz handcuffed Boss Man and beat him like a dog. He said he survived the toughest streets in the world and the toughest street tonight is Wembley Stadium. He says he's too legit to quit.

Nailz vs Virgil

Nailz basically came to the WWF to fight The Big Boss Man. Instead of having Boss return here against Nailz, Nailz is fighting Virgil.

Nailz chokes him in the corner to start. Virg hits punches then running lariats him. Virg hits a nice dropkick. Nailz eye rakes him then Virg rolls him up. Nailz then chokes him again. Virg is thrown out. Virg's head is banged off the apron.

Virg double boots him out of the corner and is lariated. Nailz does a choke/chinlock on Virg and Virg is out. Nailz wins.

Thoughts: It was the usual weak Nailz match. His finisher looks awful and illegal and he provided little entertainment value here. It didn't go on too long thankfully.

Nailz grabs his nightstick after and hits Virg in the gut with it. He then chokes him with it.

Lord Alfred Hayes tries to interview Macho Man in his dressing room. He says he's been investigating the whereabouts of Mr. Perfect. He says he can't confirm that Perfect is in there but says he will keep investigating.

Mean Gene interviews Sensational Sherri and we see clips of how Michaels/Martel came to be. Gene says Sherri is responsible for tonight's stipulations. Sherri says she always gets what she wants. She says both men are handsome and she sees no reason why either should hurt themselves. She says both men agreed not to hit each other in the face. Sherri says she will stand by her man and Shawn tells her to get going.

Rick Martel vs Shawn Michaels

Shawn was feuding with Bret since after Mania and he seemed destined for an IC Title shot here, but he gets Rick instead.

Rick comes out in tennis attire. Shawn has a mirror with him and Sherri is basically wearing a thong with chaps. Vince says Sherri will leave with the winner.

They lock up and Rick side headlocks him. Rick pulls the hair then cartwheels. SM side headlocks him, slides through the legs and dropkicks him. Rick hits him from behind and stomps on him.

Rick hits knees to the gut and misses a 2nd rope twisting crossbody. SM takes him over by the wrist then they each take each other down by the hair. Rick throws Shawn out to the floor. Sherri tries to revive SM. Rick pulls Sherri away and hugs her. Sherri smiles.

Rick back body drops SM in the ring. SM backrolls him and pulls the tights. They both pull each other's tights and go into the ropes. SM superkicks him in the chest for 2. SM hits shots to the gut.

Rick runs into SM's knee in the corner. SM tries to pin him with his feet on the ropes but is caught. Rick rolls up SM for 2. They yell at each other and shove each other. SM slaps him then Rick slaps him back. Sherri gets on the apron as they shove each other. They go to punch each other and Sherri faints on the apron. Sherri then rolls off the apron to the floor.

Rick tries to do chest compressions to revive Sherri. Shawn and Rick shove each other over Sherri. SM then punches Rick and Rick punches back. They fight in the aisle way and they go to a double countout.

Thoughts: It was an unusual match on paper as it was heel vs heel. The premise was odd as Sherri basically flirted with Rick leading up to this but Shawn didn't care for some reason. The work was good but it would have been nice to get a finish here.

Rick and SM fight up the aisle. Sherri wakes up and looks at them then faints or pretends to faint again. The fight is then broken up. Shawn then carries Sherri out. Rick then nails Shawn as he carries her and drops both. Rick then carries Sherri. Shawn then hits Rick from behind and Sherri and Rick both go down. Shawn tries to carry Sherri again. Rick comes out with a bucket filled with something. He teases throwing it then dumps it on Sherri. Sherri then wakes up as Shawn chases Rick. Sherri eventually wakes up and runs to the back.

Thoughts: This was unusual as well. I don't know what was going on here.

Sean Mooney interviews The Nasty Boys and Jimmy Hart. Saggs asks if we saw the mascara running off that dogs face. Knobbs says he thought the wicked witch of the west melted when she got wet. Saggs says Macho/Warrior is a nasty situation and says they beat them. The Nasty's don't know why they don't have a title shot after beating them. They ask Hart if they will get a title shot and he says of course they will.

WWF Tag Titles - The Natural Disasters (Typhoon and Earthquake) vs The Beverly Brothers (Beau and Blake Beverly)

The ND's recently won the titles off-air at a house show. The Bev's had a decent feud going with The LOD that was dropped for this.

The Genius does a poem before the match.

The Bev's hit The ND's from behind and boot them in the corners. Ty lariats Blake then Quake lariats Beau. Blake takes a sandwich splash as does Beau. The Bev's then get sandwiched splashed together.

Ty back elbows Blake and slams him. Ty then stands on his gut. and misses a legdrop. Blake goes for the slam but Ty drops down on him. Beau breaks it up and gets nailed by Quake. Ty corner splashes Blake then Quake splashes Ty on a failed double team.

Ty is stomped on by The Bev's. Blake pops up Beau into a splash on Ty. Beau is thrown out of the ring on the pin attempt. Heenan says Shawn Michaels has left Wembley Stadium. Blake 2nd rope diving headbutts Ty and legdrops him.

Ty is bridged on the ropes and takes a butt drop to the back. Ty is choked on the 2nd rope by The Bev's. Heenan says you could take Ty to the park and charge people to ride him. Beau top rope double axe handles Ty and pounds on him. Ty's head is banged off Blake's boot. Blake chokes Ty with something.

Blake 2nd rope double axe handles Ty then diving headbutts him for 2. Ty is bridged on the ropes and Beau top rope double axe handles him. Beau chokes Ty with the bottom rope as does Blake. Ty hits a double lariat. Ty holds Blake for a slam but Beau to rope dropkicks them both over. Beau distracts Quake and the ref on the floor. Blake hits Ty with Genius' scroll.

Quake elbow drops Blake. Quake hits shots on Blake then hiptosses him. Quake belly to belly suplexes him. Quake hits corner spears on Beau then hits a double shoulderblock. Quake corner splashes Beau then powerslams him. Quake butt drops Beau and picks up the win.

Thoughts: The work was fine and the match made sense but it was a little long and nothing too special. The Bev's got more in on The ND's than any other team I have seen. There was little reason to think The Bev's were winning here since The ND's just won the titles back.

The Genius is on the apron and gets pulled in by The ND's. The ND's then throw him over the top.

Mean Gene Okerlund interviews The Bushwhackers. Butch says they are having fun at Summerslam and still don't know who Mr. Perfect will be with. Gene says a dentist in London is trying to see Luke the London Bridge. He says The BW's were also invited to dinner at Buckingham Palace. Butch says he's looking forward to it and says they will have sardines. Butch says they also may get to sit on the royal throne.

Lord Alfred Hayes is at The Ultimate Warrior's locker room. He thinks Mr. Perfect is inside. He says he's going to open the door and surprise them. He opens the door and it is quickly closed in his face. He says it doesn't mean Mr. Perfect is in the locker room but it was a shocking act of rudeness.

Crush vs The Repo Man

Repo was feuding with The British Bulldog prior to this but that got dropped as Davey was going to be in the main.

Repo hits Crush from behind. Crush no sells it then gorilla press slams him. Repo goes out. Crush running lariats jhhim outside. Crush hits shots to the gut and puts Repo on the top rope. He then pounds on him there.

Crush backbreakers him. Repo backdrops him. Crush belly to belly suplexes Repo then backbreakers him. Crush misses a knee drop and fires up as Repo pounds him. Repo bangs Crush's face off the mat. Crush throws him out on the pin attempt. Repo jumps off the top and is caught with a powerslam. Crush does the head squeeze on Repo and submits him to win.

Thoughts: We didn't really need to this one. It wasn't anything too special and was mostly Crush no selling Repo.

Mean Gene Okerlund talks about the Macho/Warrior/Perfect/Flair storyline and he tells us we are going to the main event now.

Vince and Bobby talk. Vince says Bobby knows whose team Perfect is on. Bobby says he doesn't know and they wouldn't tell him. Vince thinks Bobby said Warrior sold out then Bobby brings up Macho.

WWF Title - "Macho Man" Randy Savage (c) vs The Ultimate Warrior

They had an easy storyline with Warrior retiring Macho and Macho trying to prove himself here but instead this became all about whose side Mr. Perfect would be on. They also had an easy Flair/Macho final blow off match that they could have done since they had been feuding all year, but they instead settled for this.

The bell rings with both guys still in their entrance gear and Mr. Perfect nowhere to be found. Macho offers a handshake and Warrior obliges. Warrior is pulled into him, they bump chests and get their entrance gear off. They lock up and Macho clean breakers him. Warrior shoves him off the lock up and pounds his chest. Macho knees him in the gut then running lariats him. He then lariats him from behind for 1. Macho comes off the top and is hit in the gut. Warrior atomic drops him twice. Warrior running lariats him for 2 then shoulders him over.

Warrior misses an elbow drop. Macho pounds on him and knee drops him. Macho sleepers him and Warrior jawbreakers him out. Warrior facebusters Macho for 2. Warrior chops and punches him down in the corner. Warriors boots him in the gut in the corner. Warrior short arm clotheslines him for 2. Macho pulls him into the buckles. Warrior is lariated over the top. Macho gets a 2 count on him. Macho top rope double axe handles him. Warrior runs in place and takes another one. Macho gets a 2 count.

Macho comes off the top and is caught. Warrior backbreakers him for 2. Warrior hits a bad punch then strikes him down. Warrior punches Macho in the corner then bearhugs him. Warrior then lets go of it for 2. Warrior side slams him for 2. Macho cradles him for 2. Macho spinning neckbreakers him. Macho pulls Warrior's throat over the top rope for 2. Macho goes for a suplex but holds his back in pain.

Warror hits him in the lower back. Warrior suplexes him for 2. Warrior runs at him and is pulled over the top rope to the floor. Macho top rope double axe handles him outside. Warrior then falls off the ring platform.

Warrior's head is banged off the steps. Macho sends him into the post for 2. Ric Flair and Mr. Perfect come out. Macho sunset flips him for 2. Warrior lariats him for 2. Warrior slams him. Warrior goes for a splash but Macho gets his knees up. They double clothesline each other and both go down. Perfect trips Macho from the outside. Warrior drops Macho with a punch.

Macho is thrown into the corner and bangs his head off the bottom buckle. Macho is supposed to be thrown into the ref but maybe hits his arm at best. The ref goes down and Warrior slams Macho. Warrior goes up top and top rope double axe handles him but the ref takes a while to count.

Warrior argues with the ref, Macho knees him from behind and Warrior knocks the ref out of the ring. Macho piledrivers Warrior. Perfect gets in the ring and lifts up Warrior. Ric then punches Warrior in the face with brass knucks. Macho slams Warrior. Macho hits a top rope elbow drop on Warrior but the ref does another delayed count of 2.

Macho pounds on Warrior and Warrior hulks up. He shakes the ropes and prances. He nails Macho and hits running lariats. Warrior shakes the ropes again then flying shoulders him. Warrior gorilla press drops Macho. Perfect trips Warrior then Flair chairs Warrior in the back as he runs the ropes. Macho looks at Perfect and Flair and sees that Warrior is knocked out. Macho talks to the ref and knows something happened. Perfect trips Macho and Macho tries to kick him. Macho goes up top for the elbow drop. Macho then dives out onto Flair. Flair hits Macho with the chair in the knee as he comes down. Macho then gets counted out.

Flair and Perfect attack Macho and Flair figure fours him. Warrior tries to get up and rolls out of the ring. Flair grabs the chair and Warrior takes it away. Warrior chases Flair and Perfect up the aisle with the chair. The heels run and Warrior beats his chest.

Warrior goes back in the ring and stands over top of Macho. Warrior helps Macho up and gives him the title. He then holds his arm up and poses with him. Warrior then walks Macho to the back.

Thoughts: The storyline with Mr. Perfect didn't make a lot of sense from the start and ultimately didn't really get us anywhere here. I thought they could have gotten a lot more out of it than they did. Maybe he'd coach Macho for a while then coach Warrior for a bit. Maybe he'd try to throw one of them a weapon, they'd reject it then he'd help the other guy. Then they could have caught onto him, beat him up together and they could have gone with Flair just chairing them and causing a dirty finish. I think that would have been better and would have fit the story better. There was a lot of drama in the match and they figuring out that Perfect/Flair were against both of them was a nice moment as was them walking out together. But a DQ finish at Summerslam is pretty lame and the match was not as good as their Mania match, though just as long. I'd still it was good overall but this had potential to be so much more.

Mean Gene interviews Mr. Perfect and Ric Flair. Gene says there was no deal. Perfect says there was a done deal between him and Flair. He says Plan B is now in charge. Flair says he should have had the shot to begin with. He says he knows Warrior wants him now and he wants him too. He says him and Perfect are the two most perfect gentlemen alive. Flair says that the belt is coming home to him.

The Undertaker vs Kamala

Harvey Wippleman does the intro for Kamala as usual. The Undertaker comes out on the back of a hearse with Paul Bearer leading the way in a cool entrance.

Kam tries to attack Taker from behind but takes uppercuts. Taker chokes him. Kam misses a splash. Taker hits more uppercuts. Taker rope walks, Harvey gets on the apron and Kam pulls Taker down. Kam lariats Taker over the top. Taker grabs Kim chee and Harvey then Kam hits Taker. Kam kicks him in the gut and hits more chops. Taker's head is banged off the steps.

Kam headbutts him. Kam hits chops and Taker chokeslams him. Taker flying clotheslines Kam. Taker goes to slam Kam and Kim chee hits Taker. Kamala is DQ'd.

Taker punches Kim out of the ring. Kam kicks Taker from behind then corner splashes him. Kam slams Taker. Kam hits a splash then a splash off the 2nd rope. Kam goes up top and splashes Taker (they had been teasing him trying to go up top for a few weeks prior to this). Kamala goes to leave and Taker sits up. Taker goes after him and Kamala is shocked and scared. Kamala walks back in fear and trips in a funny moment. Taker then follows Kam to the back.

Thoughts:
The match was short and had yet another dirty finish. The match wasn't that much but I liked them finally delivering on the much teased Kamala top rope splash. Kamala acting scared and running from Taker was top notch acting here.

Sean Mooney interviews The British Bulldog. Davey says they are facing a lot of pressure in the family but he didn't make this, Jack Tunney did. He said he fought hard for 2 years to be the #1 contender for the IC Title. He says Bret is the champ and his brother in law but he says he doesn't know him when they fight. He says he hopes the families re-unite after. Davey says stepping out in front of his countrymen isn't pressure, it's a dream. He says he also dreams he will be the next WWF IC champ.

Bret Hart is interviewed by Mean Gene.

Bret says he has proven he works well under pressure. He gets mad at Davey saying he never met him when they wrestle. Hart says to take a good look in his face and tell him he doesn't know him. Bret says he introduced Bulldog to Diana in the first place. He says Davey wouldn't be where he is in the WWF without him. He says Davey wanted a shot at the gold and the big fight and he got the big fight. He says Davey's big dream will turn into a nightmare and will think he woke up in the dungeon of Windsor Castle tomorrow.

We get some bagpipe players and Roddy Piper joins them, making his first appearance in a while.

Sean Mooney interviews Diana Hart. She says it'll be the biggest match in the lives of Bret and Davey. She says she's worried about what they will do to each other. She says she's not concerned about who wins. She says she loves them both and says the bonds they have are more valuable than anything. She says she has the honor of giving support to both Bret and Davey tonight.

WWF Intercontinental Title - Bret Hart (c) vs The British Bulldog

Davey has Lennox Lewis walking him to the ring with the flag.

They stare down and shove each other. Bret is side headlocked then Davey shoulders him out of the ring. Bret does side headlock takeovers and he grounds Davey. Bret backrolls him and cradles him. He then headlock takeovers him again. Davey hammerlocks him and knees the arm.

Bret wristlocks him. Davey headflips out and armlocks Bret. Bret is catapulted into the buckles. Davey lifts him up by the arm and keeps the armlock on. Davey crucifixes him then armlocks him. Bret knees him in the gut then stomps him in the gut. Bret chinlocks him. Davey runs into a hard back elbow. Bret elbow drops him. Bret atomic drops him.

Davey goes for a crucifix but Bret turns it into a drop on him. Bret then chinlocks him and clearly tells him what to do next. Bret shoulders Davey then Davey flips him with his feet. Davey runs into a boot in the corner. Bret bulldogs him.

Bret goes up top and Davey throws him down. Davey misses a top rope diving headbutt. Davey's face is banged off the mat. Davey tries to push Bret into the ropes but Bret slides under him and Davey goes out. Bret plancha's out and yanks Davey's head down to the floor.

Bret rams Davey's back into the post. Davey is sent hard into the buckles and Bret hits him in the back. Bret russian legsweeps him for 2. Bret hits euros on Davey then dropkicks him.  Bret back body drops him for 2. Bret chinlocks him. Bret suplexes him for 2 then chinlocks him. Davey backslides him. Bret backbreakers him then 2nd rope elbow drops him on the back for 2. Bret yanks on Davey's hair. Bret snapmares him and chinlocks him.

Bret hits punches then sleepers Davey. Davey ropebreaks and Bret stomps him. Bret sleepers him. Davey rams Bret in the corner to escape. Davey tries to gorilla press Bret but drops him and Bret is crotched on the 2nd rope. Davey lariats Bret several times for 2. Davey suplexes him for 2. Bret is sent chest first into the buckles. Davey powerslams Bret for 2. Bret germans him for 2.

Davey superplexes Bret for 2. They double clothesline each other. Bret sharpshooters him from the mat and Davey ropebreaks. Bret sunset flips him but Davey blocks it and pins him.

Thoughts: It was a good match with Bret working the back. There were tons of rest holds here as Davey forgot the match they had planned. Bret was caught multiple times telling Davey what to do and this was a total carry job with Davey not doing all that much here.  They started off doing technical wrestling then Bret got rough about halfway through. The finish wasn't that well built up to here though but I liked the sharpshooter attempt from the mat near the end. The crowd was super hot all throughout here.

Davey offers Bret a hand up after. Diana cries. Bret and Davey shake hands then hug in a nice moment. Diana comes in and hugs them both. They then get sparklers and fireworks as they all pose together.

Overall thoughts: The opener was fine. Nailz's match sucked like usual. Martel/Shawn was going fine, then we went to a countout finish which was disappointing. The tag title match was okay but it went long and wasn't great. Crush/Repo wasn't that good. I thought Macho/Warrior was good overall but not quite as good as their Mania match and I thought there were better ways to get Mr. Perfect involved. I was disappointed with the countout finish. Kamala/Taker was short with a dirty finish. The main was good but Bret did almost all of the work in it and you could see him telling Davey what to do throughout the whole match. I'd give this one a 5 out of 10 total. The two big matches did deliver, but there were a lot of dirty finishes and they didn't have anywhere close to the best show possible. It was an an average show overall.

Rhea and Iyo are up top. Rhea hits a 2nd rope riptide on Iyo for 2. Naomi rolls up Rhea and pins her by holding the tights.

Thoughts: It had the usual issues 3-ways have with it being hard to get any momentum going and people coming in to do a move than going away. I also thought it got a bit more time than it needed at 17 minutes. I didn't like this one that much.

Nick Hogan is in the crowd. They also have The Dudley Boyz and The Hardy Boyz in the crowd for the 25th Anniversary of TLC.

WWE Tag Titles - TLC Match - The Wyatt Sicks (Dexter Lumis and Joe Gacy) (c) vs. Andrade and Rey Fénix vs. #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) vs. Fraxiom (Axiom and Nathan Frazer) vs. Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin) vs. The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford)

Sabin, Ax and NF then do topes. The Guns have a ladder dropkicked into them. Ax is on the top rope and Gacy throws a chair at his head, sending him down.

NF is knocked down. Andrade sunset bombs Howdy off a ladder onto a bridged ladder. Fenix climbs the ladder and is chaired by Dexter. Fenix takes a suplex + sitout powerbomb combo. Gacy unhooks the titles and wins.

Thoughts
: It wasn't as good as the last TLC and didn't have a chance to. There were just too many people involved in this one. There were lots of huge spots here as expected and it was a very dangerous match. I thought Andrade/Fenix had an outside shot of winning this one but it didn't happen. It was all action packed insanity here and definitely a stunt show. Where things go from here, I have no idea.

WWE Women's Intercontinental Title - No DQ, No Countouts - Becky Lynch (c) vs. Lyra Valkyria

Lyra can't challenge for the IC Title as long as Becky is champ if she loses. They slap each other to start. Lyra boots her in the corner. BL's head is banged off the buckles then Lyra hiptosses her. Lyra takes off a turnbuckle pad. Lyra is sent shoulder first into the post. BL looks under the ring and Lyra somehow sprays her with a fire extinguisher from underneath. Lyra tries to use the fire extinguisher to get out of the zipties but can't. Lyra frees herself from the ties under the ring somehow. Lyra hits BL with a kendo stick several times. Lyra fisherman suplexes her for 2.

Lyra dropkicks a chair into BL's head through the ropes. Lyra hits a cradle shock off the steps onto the floor. BL runs into the exposed buckle and is uranage'd onto chairs. Bay misses a running knee against the rail and goes over it. BL is leaning on a table and Lyra legdrops her through a table. Lyra armdrags her. Bay hits Lyra on accident. BL uranages Lyra and pins her.

Thoughts:
It went on forever at 25 minutes. Both took and did too much here and they did endless weapons shots. At one point it might have been okay but it went on too long for me to give this one a good rating. I also thought Lyra being able to fight while being ziptied got a little too silly as was her trying to keep the ties on once they got broken.

WWE United States Title - Cage Match - Solo Sikoa (c) vs. Jacob Fatu

I was surprised this followed the women's hardcore match.

They hit each other and Solo goes down. Fatu lariats him. Fatu's head is banged off the buckles but he's Samoan and no sells it. Fatu headbutts Solo then hits mounted headbutts in the corner. Fatu flying back elbows him. Fatu facekicks Solo then is back body dropped into the cage.

Solo splashes Fatu against the cage. Solo sentons Fatu. Solo tells Fatu he gave him everything then throws him into the cage.  Solo pounds on Fatu then running hip attacks him against the cage for 2. Solo tries to walk out of the cage but Fatu grabs his foot. Solo hits mounted punches and bangs Fatu's head off the mat.

Solo misses a samoan spike and is superkicked. Solo superkicks him back then Fatu running lariats him. Fatu hits punches. Solo's face is banged off the cage. Fatu is then sent into the cage but he no sells it.

Fatu sentons him then corner hip attacks him. Fatu double jump moonsaults him twice for 2. The MFT's come down and shake the cage. Jimmy Uso then comes down. Uso superkicks JC and Loa. Talla facekicks Uso. Uso is sent into the cage then thrown over the commentary table. Fatu closes the door instead of escaping then Solo hits a samoan spike for 2. Solo climbs the cage and lays on top of it. Fatu goes up and grabs him. Fatu bangs Solo's head off the cage. The MFT's climb the cage. Loa is pulled in. Talla climbs in with handcuffs. Fatu is handcuffed to the top of the cage.

Fatu somehow breaks free of the cuffs in seconds and grabs Solo before he exits. Fatu kicks the cage door into JC's face. Solo is half out the cage and Fatu grabs him. Talla kicks the door into Solo's and Fatu's head. Solo then falls out of the cage door and wins.

Thoughts: I wondered why this was where it's at and this is why - Solo won. It wasn't that great. There was a lot of interference and there was just no great match structure here. No one bled, the wrong person won and there just wasn't a ton of value here.

Jimmy Uso superkicks JC and sends him into the cage. Uso locks JC into the cage. Fatu superkicks Loa and JC. JC is sent into the cage side. Fatu then moonsaults JC and Loa off the top of the cage.

Mr. Iguana and Psycho Clown are in the crowd again.

AJ goes for a top rope frogsplash and Dom gets his knees up. Dom dropkicks AJ into the ropes. Dom 619's AJ.

Dom comes off the top and AJ catches him with a calf-crusher. AJ misses a corner charge and goes face first into the 2nd buckle. Dom pretends that AJ chaired him Eddie Guerrero style. AJ then puts the chair around his neck and pretends he was hit.

They argue over who chaired the other. AJ enzugiri's him. AJ is crotched up top. AJ then kicks the 2nd rope into Dom's crotch.

Dom double throat thrusts AJ AJ rolls him into a calf crusher. Dom's boot comes off and he escapes the hold. AJ barely hits the ref on accident then Dom hits AJ with his boot. Dom top rope frogsplashes AJ and wins.

Thoughts: It was entertaining. I liked the double fake chairshot spot and the finish was interesting. After some of the eh stuff on this show, this came off a bit better than it was. I liked this.

Stephanie McMahon is in the ring to announce the attendance of 60,561. She says the total for 2 nights is 113,722 people.

Undisputed WWE Title - Street Fight -  John Cena (c) vs Cody Rhodes

Cody got a entrance with Dusty Rhodes doing a voiceover. Cody then came up through a lift under the stage with his skull tattoo on a mask and fireworks. Cena had a full face entrance.

They stare down. Cena hugs him and Cody hugs him back. They then punch each other. Cena headbutts him then throws him out. Cena is sent into the steps. Cody is then sent into the steps. Cena takes Tyrese Haliburton's crutch and hits Cody with it.

Cody slams Cena on the bottom part of the steps. Cody goes up on the buckles and is pushed down to the floor. Cena throws the steps over the top rope and hits Cody with them. Cody then holds is arm.

Cody disaster kicks him in the ring. Cody russian legsweeps him for 2. Cody traps the arm and chinlocks him. Cody hits a powerslam for 2. Cody is back body dropped to the floor. Cody and Cena both grab chairs. They due with them and Cody chairs Cena. Cody puts a chair between the buckles. Cody ends up getting sent into it. Cena flying shoulders Cody.

Cody hits a disaster kick for 2. Cody walks up the buckles and does a cody cutter for 2. Cena electric chair drops him for 2. Cody piledrivers Cena for 2.

Cena hits an AA on Cody. They trade punches. Cody pop-up sitout powerbombs him for 2. Cena no sells it and puts him in the STFU. Cena is thrown over the rail and lands into the timekeeper's area. Cena hits Cody with a mic. Cena code red's Cody on the floor then smiles. Cena AA's Cody off one table through the Spanish commentary table.

Cena hits an AA for 2. Cena sets up a table in the ring. Cody ddt's Cena and gets a 2 count. A table is put in the corner. Cena is thrown over the rail into the seats. Cody hits Cena with a drink. They fight in the aisle way. Cody is whipped into the rails.

They fight in the crowd. Cody's head is banged off a rail then Cena rams him with the rail. Cena is supelxed onto a diagonal rail. They fight near the stage on the floor then fight under the stage. They then come up the riser Cody entered on. They do some funny white lighting to make Cena look evil. Cena carries Cody then AA's him on the ramp.

Cena carries Cody down the ramp and puts him in the ring. Cody then sends Cena into the table in the corner. Cody hits a cross rhodes on Cena for 2. Cody unhooks the bottom rope. Cody hits Cena with the rope connector. Cody questions what he is doing. Cena struggles to get up and Cody hits him with it again. Cody tries it again. Cena trips him and does the STFU with the ring ropes ala Umaga at the Royal Rumble. Cody scapes and does a headlock with the rope.

Cody hits three cross rhodes for 2. Cena hits two AA's. They go on the buckles and Cena hits a 2nd rope AA for 2. Cena puts a table into the ring. Cena goes for another 2nd rope AA but Cody escapes. Cody hits a top rope diving cody cutter through the table. Cody salutes him then hits a cross rhodes and wins.

Thoughts: The first half of this was fast paced and they went for finishers relatively early. It looked like it would be sub-20 minutes. Then they went to brawl in the crowd for a bit, came back, did hardcore stuff and went back to the finishers. Cena was full face throughout this match with no real shenanigans. Cody hit at least six cross rhodes here and Cena hit 7 AA's. They tried to do a classic but the structure and story just wasn't there with Cena inexplicably turning face before this (instead of doing it here and making a big moment out of it) and not being heelish at all after turning 7 months ago. I don't know what has happened to WWE in 2025 but the same person who put together the golden year of 2023-2024 WWE is no longer steering the ship.

They hug after and Cody is crying. Cena raises Cody's hand and we get fireworks. We then get a "Thank You, Cena" chant. Brock Lesnar's music then hits! Brock had been banned since the Vince McMahon allegations and hadn't been seen since. Brock is dressed like a cowboy. He walks down and Cena looks shocked. Brock stares at Cena while outside the ring. Brock gets in, Cena misses a shot at Brock F-5's him. Cena is left laying as the credits roll.

Thoughts: I didn't see that coming. Why Brock wants Cena is unknown and it's not obvious but we will find out. I'm happy to see Brock back though and he will provide some much needed star power for the company.

Cena walks to the back. His "My Time is Now" theme plays and he tells them to cut it.

Overall thoughts: Neither of the women's matches impressed and Becky/Lyra went way too long. The TLC match was crazy and dangerous as expected but nowhere near as good as the post-WM TLC match was. Solo/Fatu wasn't that good. Dom/AJ was entertaining and maybe more so due to the rest of the show not being that good. Cena/Cody tried but the structure and story wasn't there and they totally blew Cena's face turn for nothing instead of taking the easy lay-up and having Cena turn mid-match. Brock coming back at the end was nice but they are going to need a good story behind Cena/Brock to maximize it and I don't know if it's there. I would only give this a 5 out of 10 and thought it was average.

As a whole, Summerslam just wasn't that good and I know I was not alone in thinking that. It didn't need to be 2 nights and would have been so much better as one longer show. The booking wasn't there and the talent wasn't really there either. It feels like the good booking is being replaced for big moments but without the good booking, the big moments don't mean as much. I said earlier in the year that WWE was cooling off and I'm definitely concerned for what things look like going forward. We could always blame Vince when things were bad in the past and no one would really think twice because Vince was nuts. But Triple H isn't nuts and if things are going to be like this going forward, it may be a lesser but still not good booking situation.

WWE Summerslam 2025 8/2/2025 Night 1

WWE Summerslam 2025 8/2/2025 Night 1

Night 2 is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/08/wwe-summerslam-2025-832025-night-2.html

We are in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Michael Cole and Wade Barrett are on commentary.

Drew is playing around on his phone and we see various wrestlers arrive.

Druski (whom I don't know) hosts the intro video for the show.

Cardi B comes out. She says we are coming live from the Tri-State and asks who is ready to whoop some @ss. She says it's the first time there's a 2-day Summerslam and yells. She asks if we have any Logan Paul fans, then Randy Orton fans.

Roman Reigns and Jey Uso vs. Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed

Jey Uso comes out through the concourse and stands like usual but the crowd doesn't go along with his entrance at all and the music is very low. Reed came out with Roman's shoes around his neck. They say the shoes are the "shoe-la-fala" and that Reed is "The Tribal Thief".

Roman hits mounted corner punches on Reed to start and Jey hits corner spears on Bron. Jey then yeets and asks for his entrance song to play again. Roman is double teamed outside and Jey top rope dives on them. The heels get the edge and Bron flying shoulders Roman outside.

Bron boots Jey in the corner. Bron slams Jey down then hits mounted shots on him. Reed knees Jey in the gut. Bron chinlocks Jey. Jey hits punches and Bron fireman's carry gutbusters him for 2. Bron misses a dive off the apron and lands on the commentary table. Jey sends Reed out and Reed pulls Roman down from the apron to stop him from making the tag.

Jey wrap around ddt's Reed. Roman and Bron get in. Roman hits lariats then he flying lariats Bron. Roman hits corner lariats. Roman lariats Bron over the top. Roman does a suicide dive on the heels and overshoots, landing hard on the floor. Roman uranages Bron.

Roman superman punches Reed. Bron jumping knees Roman. Bron runs the ropes and runs into a superman punch. Reed running cannonballs Roman. Jey uppercuts Reed then spinning enzugiri's him. Jey enzugiri's Reed in the corner and Reed lariats him. Reed death valley drivers Jey for 2.

Reed then topes both opponents outside. Bron flying lariats Roman over the commentary table. Jey takes an electric chair bulldog for 2. Bron runs around the ring into Roman's superman punch. Roman spears Bron through the rail. Reed goes up top and is hit with a superman punch. Reed takes a 1D for 2.

Roman takes a spear to save Jey. Jey superkicks Bron then spears Reed. Jey top rope splashes Reed and wins.

Thoughts: The ending could have been a bit better but it was alright match here. The heels lost as expected. Roman did a big suicide dive and overshot it, landing hard on the mat. Reed even busted out a rare tope for this. I was really surprised Roman was put in this instead of some big singles match.

WWE Women's Tag Title - The Judgment Day (Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez) (c) vs. Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss

The heels hit and pound on the faces to start. RP boots Bliss in the corner. Bliss spinning headscissors her. Cf lariats RP then RP gets on Cf's back. RP hits mounted shots on CF. RR bangs CF's face off the mat.

CF takes a samoan drop from RR. RP cartwheel double knee drops CF on her neck for 2. RP chokes CF on the ropes then RR gets a cheap shot in. RR arm and chinlocks CF. CF jawbreakers RR. CF diving headscissors RR off the buckles.

RP chinlocks Bliss and Bliss jawbreakers out. RP spin kicks Bliss in the gut then they both swinging facebuster each other. CF is tagged in and hits a top rope double crossbody on the heels. CF chops up RR then does a forward cartwheel lariat on RP. CF fallaway slams RP.

CF superkicks RR. CF top rope moonsaults both opponents and gets a 2 count on RR. Bliss nails CF on accident when an opponent is pulled out of the way. CF is out. RR powerbombs CF then RP hits a code red on CF for 2, which Bliss breaks up with a headhunter.

RP cradles Bliss for 2 then spin kicks her in the gut. Bliss hits a forearm on her. Bliss goes for sister abigail. CF stares at her then nails RR instead. Bliss then pins RP with the sister abigail.

Thoughts: It was pretty average and nothing too special here. The heels kept it pretty simple and the big point of interest was Bliss nailing CF, leaving us wondering if there would be a turn. I expected Flair and Bliss to win here as The Judgment Day holding the titles doesn't matter so much but the Bliss/Flair storyline may struggle without the titles longterm.

We see a bunch of wrestlers in the back. Tozawa goes for the last slice of pizza then Xavier Woods takes it. The LWO argue with Waller and New Day then Nikki Bella brings in a couple of Papa John's pizza's.

Sami Zayn vs Karrion Kross

Sami has to tell Kross he was right if Kross wins and Kross has to say he was wrong if Sami wins. Kross has Scarlett with him.

Sami hits corner spears on KK to start. KK then hits punches in the corner. Sami hits punches back then he lariats him over the top. KK forearms him outside then Sami moonsaults him off the rails.

KK death valley drivers him for 2. KK stomps Sami's hand. Sami hits chops. KK corner lariats him then forearms him. KK exploders him for 2. Sami 2nd rope double axe handles him twice. KK fisherman suplexes him for 2.

Sami chops him in the corner then hits mounted corner punches. Sami lariats him. KK backdrops him for 2. Scarlett gives KK a pipe. Sami ends up hitting a blue thunder for 2.

Sami hits mounted shots on KK. Sami boots KK in the head on the ropes Scarlett tries to hand Sami the pipe but Sami throws it out. KK rolls up Sami for 2. Sami exploders KK into the buckles. Sami corner facekicks KK for the win in what seemed to be a botched finish.

Thoughts
: It was a very average match and nothing really of note. The finish was definitely messed up here and even at its best, this was not going to be great.

Sami tells him they are done after.

They announce 53,161 in attendance. We then get a Hulk Hogan tribute video. We see Nick Hogan at ringside and a graphic on the tron.

Mr. Iguana and Psycho Clown are in the crowd.

WWE Women's Title - Tiffany Stratton (c) vs Jade Cargill

Tiff rolls her up for 2 to start. Tiff armdrags her then Jade pump kicks her for 2. Tiff rolls out and has her head banged off the apron. Tiff is then sent into the rails. Jade suplexes her on the floor.

Tiff hip attacks Jae off the apron then topes her. Tiff hits a top rope swanton. Tiff tries a handspring back elbow but is backbreakered. Jade slingshots over then superkicks her. Jade sitout spinning torture rack drops her for 2.

Jade flying elbows her in the corner. Tiff boots her out of the corner then finlay rolls her. Tiff gets on the buckles and is pushed to the apron. Jade suplexes her into the ring then Tiff holds on and falcon arrows her.

They trade chest forearms. Tiff chops her and hurricanrana's her off a chokeslam. Tiff handspring cartwheel back elbows her. Tiff then cartwheel alabama slams her. Tiff double jump moonsaults but Jade gets her feet up and Tiff lands hard on the mat. Jade hits a jade end but Tiff's foot is on the ropes.

Jade gets a 2 count on another pin. She chokeslams Tiff and throws her into the corner. Jde goes for 2nd rope Jade end but Tiff flips her. Tiff hits a double jump moonsault and wins.

Thoughts: The finish was cool. Tiff's landing on the moonsault looked really bad though. It was just kind of a match otherwise and wasn't great as expected. Tiff's elbow got busted open during this one. I have no idea what happens with Jade now since she lost clean.

Randy Orton and Jelly Roll vs Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul

Jelly comes out and says he pledges allegiance to the apex predator tonight. He then sings his theme and Orton comes out.

Logan nails Jelly to start then slides out. They get back in their corners and the bell rings. Jelly wants to fight Logan to start. LP clubs on Jelly. Jelly back elbows and shoulders him over. LP kicks him in the gut.

LP tries to slam him but can't. Jelly then slams LP. Jelly elbow drops him. Drew gets in and slaps Jelly from behind. Orton tells Jelly to show him what he's about. Jelly hits Drew then hits some punches. Drew then headbutts Jelly down.

Jelly is laid on the commentary table and LP top rope splashes him through the commentary table. LP totally just bounces off of Jelly on the landing. Medical officials come to check on Jelly. Drew foot chokes Orton.

Orton is stomped on in the corner by the heels. The medical people try to walk Jelly to the back. LP taunts Jelly. LP 2nd rope blockbusters Orton for 2. Jelly falls down to his knees and LP laughs. Orton 2nd rope superplexes Drew. Jelly sees Orton going for the tag and heads back up to the apron. Jelly is tagged in. He lariats LP then chokeslams him. Jelly then black hole slams Drew. LP back elbows Jelly then comes off the 2nd rope and is powerslammed for 2.

Drew sliding claymore kicks Jelly then Orton RKO's Drew. LP sends Orton into the post shoulder first then LP top rope frogsplashes Jelly to win.

Thoughts: It was entertaining. Logan's top rope splash through the table outside was huge and Jelly really got creamed from it. It wasn't a classic or anything too special but Jelly did fine and there were no issues with it.

We see clips of Triple H at The White House with Donald Trump.

World Heavyweight Title - Gunther (c) vs CM Punk

They lock up and let go. Gun kimura's him and Punk ropebreaks. Punk ducks a chop. Gun side headlock takeovers him and Punk headscissors him. Gun snapmares him then Punk does an armlock. Punk blocks a chop.

Gun makes Punk bridge then gets on top of him. Gun hits euros. Punk boots him out of the corner and butt drops his arm. Punk hits chest kicks then Gun chops him over. Punk throws him down by the arm and armlocks him.

Punk knee drops the arm then hits chops. Punk boots him out of the corner then Gun crotches him up top. Gun chops Punk while he's in tree of woe. Punk is chopped down again. Punk chops back. Gun leapfrogs and facekicks him.

Punk is between the ropes and Gun boots him down to the apron. Gun hits chops. Punk hits chops and leg kicks. Gun chops him down. Gun is on his face, facelocks him and talks trash. Punk atomic drops Gun and Gun boots him away. Gun slams Punk then he sharpshooters him. Punk trips him and does his own sharpshooter. Gun ropebreaks.

Gun foot slaps and piefaces Punk. Gun chops him and Punk chops back. Punk running lariats him then leg lariats him. Punk hits a neckbreaker. Gun powerbombs him for 2.

Punk puts Gun in a triangle. Gun chops Punk then chops him in the back. Punk russian legsweeps him. Punk step up knees Gun in the corner and bulldogs him for 2.

Gun throws Punk off the buckles. Gun hits a top rope splash on Punk for 2. Gun lariats him twice. Gun blocks a go to sleep and hits a big powerbomb on Punk. Gun shotgun dropkicks him in the corner. Gun then powerbombs him for 2.

Gun hits more chops. Gun foot chokes Punk on the top rope. Punk is thrown into the post. Gun grabs the title, says it belongs to the best wrestler in the world and says it's him. Gun poses on the commentary table. Punk trips him and Gun goes down.

Gun is somehow busted open and is bleeding buckets. Gun's trying to get the blood out of his eyes. Punk hits punches on Gun in the corner then he step up knees Gun in the corner. Punk lariats him then hits a top rope elbow drop. Gun puts a sleeper on Punk. Punk hits a go to sleep then hits a second for the win.

Thoughts: This was a longer and slower bout. It was borderline boring at times. But Gun chopped up and bullied Punk like he was supposed to and Punk sold and made his comeback like he was supposed to. Gun bleeding opened this one up a little but I think it needed to be shorter and more violent for it to really get over. Punk winning was the better call but losing wasn't helpful for either guy here. I thought Gunther was a lame duck champ for the most part and he was really not a major part of the show.

Seth Rollins' theme hits after. Seth comes out on crutches with Paul Heyman. Seth's leg is also all wrapped up in a cast. Seth turns around to go to the back. He then pushes his crutches aside and takes the leg cast off. Seth then heads down the ramp with the briefcase. Seth runs in the ring and Punk hits him. Seth beats up on him then hits him with the MITB briefcase many times. Seth then officially cashes in his MITB briefcase.

World Heavyweight Title - CM Punk (c) vs Seth Rollins

Seth curbstomps Punk and pins him.

Thoughts: There were a lot of rumors and guesses online that Seth wasn't really injured at SNME vs LA Knight, so this was kind of spoiled. And it's a shame too because if you didn't read those, there was no way of predicting this, but the spoilers were impossible to avoid. Seth winning this way sets up an obvious rematch with Punk and gives his stable more credibility. It may also lead to something with Roman or LA Knight down the line.

Seth's crew poses over Punk after.

Overall thoughts: I had some concerns about Summerslam being a 2 night show and I think they were justified here. This didn't feel like the second biggest show of the year at any point in time. There were no big gimmick matches. No legends came back. There weren't any huge stipulations either. We'll see what tomorrow looks like, but so far, I'd say it would have been better to take the top 3 matches from this and combine them with the top 3 matches of tomorrow's card.

The opener was fine, but it was more suited for a Raw. The women's tag title match was average. Sami/Kross got messed up when Kross didn't get kick out and that seems like the end of that feud. Tiff/Jade was just a match. The Jelly/Logan was entertaining with Jelly looking okay and taking a huge top rope frogsplash through a table, but it wasn't great. The main was long and while they had the right idea, it wasn't a classic. Seth cashing in on Punk sadly got spoiled by most of the IWC and definitely hurt my excitement for it, but it leads to a few obvious matches and will be good storyline. I'd give the show a 5 out of 10. I'd never rewatch this and there was nothing great about it, but I wouldn't say it was bad, just not really suited to be one of the cards for the second biggest show of the year.

WWF Summerslam 1991 8/26/1991

WWF Summerslam 1991 8/26/1991

We are at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Gorilla Monsoon, Bobby Heenan and Roddy Piper are on commentary.

Heenan says Macho will tie the knot tonight, but it's the noose around his neck as he's getting married. piper says there's more turmoil then they have in Russia in the main.

The Dragon, Texas Tornado and The British Bulldog vs Power and Glory and The Warlord

This didn't have a lot to of build to it minus some promos. P&G were starting to be phased out at the time for unknown reasons despite being great. The heels didn't get an entrance here. The faces had a warm-up match on the Summerslam Spectacular 1991 prior to this.

Roma boots, slams and dropkicks Ricky to start. Roma comes off the 2nd rope and catches an armdrag from Ricky. Ricky wristlocks Roma then side kicks him. Roma hits a bunch of punches and misses a corner charge. Ricky armdrags and dropkicks him.

Ricky hiptosses and armdrags Herc. Kerry and Herc trade wristlocks. Herc's head is banged off the buckles. Kerry hits corner punches. War and Davey get in. Davey hits some lariats then suplexes him. Ricky clubs War off the top. War blocks a monkey flip. Roma lariats Ricky then Ricky backrolls him. War then lariats Ricky.

Roma eye rakes Ricky then suplexes him. Roma backbreakers Ricky. Herc clubs on Ricky then gorilla press slams him. War slams Ricky and Roma works Ricky's back. Ricky hits shots on Herc then Herc stun guns him. War clubs Ricky then slams him. War comes off the buckles and runs into Ricky's boots.

Kerry is tagged in and hits shots on the heels. Davey comes off the buckles and is caught by War. Kerry then discus punches War over. Davey powerslams Roma as Kerry claws Herc. Ricky top rope crossbodies Roma and gets the pin.

Thoughts: It wasn't quite as good as it should have been and was just average. The heels got a lot of offense in and the pacing just wasn't that right for the faces comeback. Of course Ricky did all of the selling in this one. I'm not even sure why the ref allowed Ricky to get the pin when there's no way he could have seen the tag.

Mr. Perfect and Coach are interviewed by Sean Mooney. Perfect says he's the greatest IC champ of all time. He says to be a champ you have to be perfect. He says Bret is excellent but not perfect.

WWF Intercontinental Title - Mr. Perfect (c) vs Bret Hart

Stu, Helen and Bruce Hart are watching in the stands. Bret was being built up a singles guy after The Hart's lost their tag titles and was getting a lot of credibility fast.

Bret side headlocks Perfect then Bret shoulders him over. Bret reverses the hiptoss and throws Perfect out. Bret side headlocks Perfect then he crucifixes Perfect. Bret side headlock takeovers Perfect and side headlocks him.

Bret crossbodies Perfect then slingshot sunset flips him for 2. Bret side headlock takeovers Perfect. Bret stomps Perfect in the gut then Perfect slams him. Bret slams him and takes a double upkick. Bret lariats Perfect over the top to the floor.

Perfect walks to the back and Bret stops him. Bret pulls on Perfect's singlet and rips it, then he throws Perfect back in. The ref gets between Bret and Perfect and Perfect punches Bret down. Perfect boots Bret out. Perfect chops Bret down.

Perfect knocks Bret off the apron into an official outside. Bret hits punches and goes up and over Perfect. Bret back rolls him for 2 and takes an uppercut. Bret is sent hard into the buckles. Perfect pulls Bret's neck forward. Bret bends over, gets kicked then is dropkicked out.

They go up on the 2nd rope and fight. Both fall down and Perfect falls on Bret for 2. Perfect slaps Bret around then hair throws him. Perfect sleepers Bret. Bret escapes, goes for the crucifix and is dropped down for 2. Bret is sent chest first into the buckles. Perfect hits a perfectplex and Bret kicks out at 2.

Bret atomic drops Perfect twice. Bret hair throws Perfect and Perfect gets crotched on the post on the landing. Bret hits a suplex for 2. Bret russian legsweeps him for 2. Bret backbreakers Perfect. Bret elbow drops Perfect off the buckles.

Perfect backrolls Bret for 2 and is pushed out on the kickout. Perfect is sent into the post. Bret legsweeps Perfect as Perfect hangs onto the ropes. Bret goes for the sharpshooter. Coach gets on the apron and is nailed. Perfect kicks the middle rope into Bret's crotch.

Perfect legdrops Bret in the gut once, tries again and is caught in a sharpshooter. Perfect quickly taps out and Bret wins.

Thoughts: The work was good here. Perfect bumped all around like usual and both took a few rides to the outside. I was surprised by the quick tap out as I thought they could have milked that for more drama. I didn't quite think it was the 5-star classic I thought it was when I first saw it but I did think it was good.

Bret strips Perfect of the rest of his gear after and sends him out in his underwear.

Lord Alfred Hayes tries to interview Stu Hart as Bret hugs Stu. Stu completely ignores him. Stu gets like one word in and Hayes cuts him off in an awkward moment.

Andre the Giant and The Bushwhackers are interviewed by Mean Gene Okerlund. The BW's say they will crush Quake and wipe Typhoon all over the place. Butch says they will then feed Quake to Andre and Andre says it'll be his chance to get even.

The Natural Disasters vs The Bushwhackers

Quake had attacked Andre when Andre turned down Jimmy Hart's managerial services. A bunch of managers were vying to manage him and he was a jerk to them as he put Fuji's face in cake and spanked Sherri. The Natural Disasters had just formed about a month or so prior with Typhoon turning on The BW's.

The ND's get distracted outside then The BW's get a cheapshot on them outside. Typhoon misses a shot on Butch then Butch bites him in the gut. Butch hits punches to the gut. Quake nails Typhoon on accident. Typhoon is thrown into Quake then Quake is double battering rammed into Typhoon. Quake takes a double clothesline and goes down and out.

Quake hits Butch from behind and clubs him. Quake misses an elbow drop on Butch. Quake elbow drops Butch then Typhoone backbreakers Butch. Quake bearhugs Butch. Typhoon back elbows Butch for 2. Quake nails Typhoon on a missed double team. Luke flying headbutts Typhoon in the gut. The BW's battering ram  The ND's. Typhoon is thrown into Quake and Quake goes out. Quake backbreakers Butch outside.

Butch takes a sandwich bodyblock. Quake butt drops Butch and wins.

Thoughts:
I was surprised this lasted as long as it did. The ND's ran into each other multiple times and The BW's got a lot offense in. There was no way The ND's were losing this one. It wasn't that interesting of a match.

The ND's threaten Andre after. The LOD come down and protect Andre. The ND's then back off to likely set up the next feud after this show. The ND's get caught in the ring between The LOD and The BW's then leave. Andre hits The ND's with his cane after.

Bobby Heenan is going up to Hulk Hogan's dressing room door in the back. Heenan has the NWA Title with him and says he will embarrass Hulk. Heenan challenge Hulk on behalf of Ric Flair and Hulk slams the door on him. Heenan then gets mad.

Thoughts:
Heenan had just started carrying the NWA Title with him a few weeks earlier and was talking about how Flair was the real world's champ. He called out Hogan and this was him doing it yet again.

Heenan and Piper laugh at Bobby after. We see Macho Man talking on the WWF Hotline. Macho says he's nervous and will be dressed to the 10's tonight. Macho says his honeymoon location is a secret (he wouldn't tell Vince and Piper on Superstars either).

Ted Dibiase and Sherri are interviewed by Sean Mooney. Ted says Virgil will suffer humiliation tonight. He says Virgil has come to face the master. He told him to cancel his celebration plans. He says Virgil will be in a gutter face down tonight. He then says he has a crying towel for Virgil.

Million Dollar Championship - "The Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase vs Virgil

This feud had been going on since before Wrestlemania VII without a ton of new updates. It seemed like they were going to do a Piper vs Dibiase feud but it never happened on TV.

Ted poses on the ropes and Virg hits him from behind. Virg hits a back body drop and 2 lariats. Ted then takes a great bump over the top on a lariat. Virg hits punches on Ted outside and bangs his head off the steps. Virg hits more punches on Ted inside. Virg atomic drops Ted out. Virg misses a plancha outside. Bobby Heenan comes back to commentary and is mad at Hulk. Virg is sent into the steps then his head is banged off the steps. Ted lariats Virg in the ring. Ted fist drops Virg.

Ted stomps on Virg. Ted double axe handles Virg off the buckles. Ted back body drops Virg. Ted misses a lariat and is put in the million dollar dream. Sherri comes in and hits Virg with her purse. The ref talks to Howard Finkel. He says he does have the power to DQ Ted, but instead ejects Sherri and says the match will continue!

Sherri is ejected out and the match resumes. Ted's head is banged off the buckles. Virg hits punches then hits corner punches. Virg hits more punches and is whipped into the ref in the corner. Piper yells at Virg to get up and Ted suplexes Virg three times. Ted slaps around Virg then piledrivers him. The ref is still out though and can't count. Ted then boots the ref over and tells Piper "one more".

Ted takes off the top turnbuckle pad. He goes to bang Virg's head off of it but Ted gets his own head banged off of it. Virg crawls over and gets the pin.

Thoughts: The WWF basically booked themselves into a corner with this one. Virgil had to win this, but the end result of Virgil being the Million Dollar Champ was not going to be great or lead to any exciting future programs. I liked the ref not being an idiot here and not letting Dibiase get out of this with a DQ loss. The match went longer than it needed to but the crowd liked it. I just thought it was average though.

Mean Gene is with The Mountie, some officers and the paddy wagon. We see Mountie handcuffing Boss to the ropes and zapping him with the shock stick. Mountie says after he beats Boss, the local hick cops will take Boss to jail. Mountie tells the cops to drag Boss through the halls, lock him up and throwaway the keys.

The Big Boss Man is interviewed. He said Mountie should be praying that he makes it through to tomorrow morning as he will spend a long night in jail.

Jailhouse Match - The Big Boss Man vs The Mountie

We were supposed to boo Mountie for zapping Boss with the shock stick but Boss handcuffs people to the ropes all the time and beats them up so it's hard to feel sympathetic.

Mountie points his finger at Boss and gets slapped. Boss hits some great punches. Mountie fires back then takes more shots. Boss elbows him then splashes him for 2. Heenan says he's going to get Boss some cigarettes. Boss punches Mountie down then headbutts him. Boss chokes Mountie on the ropes then leg lariats him there.

Mountie eye pokes Boss. Mountie comes off the 2nd rope and is caught. Boss spinebusters Mountie. Boss cranks Mountie's head. Boss gets distracted by Jimmy Hart and is pushed into the steps.

Mountie flying back elbows Boss. Mountie fist drops Boss then sends him into the buckles hard. Mountie slams Boss for 2. Boss misses a corner charge. Mountie hits elbow drops on Boss. Mountie hits a nice dropkick.

Mountie elbows Boss' throat. Mountie bites Boss then hits a piledriver. Mountie tries to zap Boss with the shock stick. Boss punches him instead. Mountie leapfrogs and takes a great bump off an uppercut. Boss hits a sidewalk slam on Mountie for 2. Boss hits an alabama slam and wins.

Thoughts: The bumps and punches were great in this one. The match wasn't that good though. It was slower and the ending was just not that exciting.

Boss and the police handcuff Mountie after. Mountie is walked through the back and complains the whole way out. The Mountie is pushed in the paddy wagon and Boss says, "bye bye jail bird". The paddy wagon then takes off. Heenan says we may never see The Mountie again.

Mean Gene interviews Dibiase and Sherri. Ted is going nuts and says there has never been a bigger rip off than tonight. He says the match should have never started. He said Virg jumped him from behind. He then complains about the ref stopping the match. He says Virg stole the title and will pay.

Sean Mooney interviews Bret Hart. Bret says it's the greatest day. He says he waited a long time to prove to Perfect that there is no such thing as Perfect. He says Perfect wasn't good enough.

The Natural Disasters and Jimmy Hart are interviewed. Hart says he wants his lawyers on the phone for Mountie. Typhoon says they will eat Legion of Doom alive. Quake says The LOD got involved in their match and says they are history for stopping them from getting to Andre.

The Big Boss Man is interviewed. Boss asks what kind of bird can't fly and says it's a jail bird. He says Mountie will be thrown in a cell and says he is the law and order in The WWF. He says Mountie is a bad cop and he is the law and order.

Mean Gene talks to Macho in the back, who is still on the hotline. Macho says he's on the phone and doesn't talk. Gene wants to go over to see Miss Elizabeth and Macho stops him. Macho then gets back on the hotline again. Gene says we will take a 5 minute break.

The commentators talk about the results of the show so far. The Mountie arrives at the jail. Mountie says they can't do this to him.

Jimmy Hart and The Nasty Boys are interviewed. Hart says his lawyers are almost there. The Nasty Boys talk. Saggs says Tunney and The LOD made the rules tonight. He says The LOD are going to Nastyville and it's one trip they won't come back from. Knobbs says there's no more crying and whining. He says they are going to Nastyville and not coming back.

The Mountie is having his photo taken. He complains and doesn't want to, then they say a line about Boss Man and Mountie pops up to get his photo taken. Jimmy Hart flips out.

The Legion of Doom are interviewed. Animal says there's no countouts or DQ's tonight. He says brings up The Natural Disasters. He says they evened up the odds earlier and aren't afraid of them. Hawk says The ND's bit off more than they can chew. Hawk says they will spit them out like the tartar in their teeth. Hawk says they are thinking about The Nasty Boys though. He says there's boys, there's men and there's monsters.

The Mountie is having his finger prints taken. The cop asks for his finger and Mountie flips him off before getting his prints taken.

Sgt. Slaughter, Col. Mustafa and General Adnan are interviewed. Sarge says they aren't outnumbered tonight, that's Hulk and Warrior. Sarge says Warrior is snake-bitten and Hulk lost a lot of blood. Sarge says they may have one more little surprise tonight.

Sid Justice is interviewed by Mean Gene. Sid says he's a man that stands alone. We see clips from earlier of Sid being coerced by Sarge's crew. Sarge wants him to join their crew and calls him First Lieutenant Justice. Sid says he didn't promise them one thing. He promises justice will be served.

WWF Tag Titles - No Countouts, No Disqualifications - The Nasty Boys (c) vs The Legion of Doom

We see a fan with Nasty Boys puppets which is pretty creative for 1991. There wasn't a ton of build for this one, just promos. The Nasty's had just won the titles at Wrestlemania VII.

The LOD's attack The Nasty's at the bell. Hawk beats up Saggs outside. Animal powerbombs Knobbs. Hawk hits punches on Saggs inside then step up enzugiri's him. Hawk flying shoulders Saggs. Hawk hits shots on Knobbs then Saggs sprays Hawk in the eyes with something. Hawk rolls around in pain and rolls out as he's blinded.

Saggs dumps a box of drinks on Hawk. Heenan says that's the first bath Hawk took in a long time. Hawk takes a double boot. Saggs chokes Hawk with a chain. Knobbs stomps on Hawk. Saggs doubler axe handles Hawk off the steps and I think he pulls off the tag rope on accident.

Hawk shits shots on Saggs. Knobbs is whipped into a corner splash on Hawk. Saggs top rope elbow drops Hawk. Knobbs comes off the buckles and gets Hawk's boot. Animal is tagged in and beats up on The Nasty's. Animal powerslams Knobbs.

Animal gets double teamed. Hart throws in his helmet. Saggs almost nails Knobbs with it but hits Animal for 2. Hawk nails Hart outside then hits Knobbs and Saggs with the helmet. Saggs takes a doomsday device and is pinned.

Thoughts:
It was a shorter one. The LOD stupidly tagged in and out even though there were no DQ's. This wasn't much with just some brawling and some very simple weapons being used.

The Mountie is being walked through the jail. The Mountie asks them to let him walk and he tries to run away. The Mountie is finally put in a cell with some other guys. The cell door is then locked.

We get an ad for WWF Survivor Series 1991.

Irwin R. Schyster vs Greg "The Hammer" Valentine

They actually had some entertaining promos to build up to this one. Greg obviously has no chance here as IRS is still pretty new. IRS says the people have become finger pointers and crybabies when it comes to paying taxes. He says it's time to start paying. Heenan says it's the figure four vs the W-4.

They wristlock each other. Greg shoulders IRS over. Greg side headlocks him then shoulders him over. Greg hitposses IRS and lariats him over. IRS hits punches and Greg sunset flips him. Greg slams him and IRS goes out. IRS abdominal stretches him and holds onto the ropes.

Greg hiptosses him over then takes a lariat. IRS elbow drops him. IRS goes up top and Greg throws him down. IRS misses a flying knee in the corner. Greg hits kicks to the leg then elbow drops the leg. Greg puts the figure four on IRS.

Greg kneebreakers IRS. Greg headbutts IRS in the gut. Greg goes for another figure four, IRS pulls the hair and Greg is pinned.

Thoughts:
Nobody cared about this one and it was clearly a bathroom break match. It made sense with Greg working the knee for the figure four then IRS cheating to win.

Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior are interviewed. Hulk says this is the appropriate place for this match. He says he's been waiting for a rush like he got when he won the title and has it here. He says if they don't wipe out Sarge, wrestling history could change again. The Warrior asks Hulk if they are loaded down. Warrior says they will walk side by side. He tells his fans to prepare to walk down to the coup of Warrior Wildness. Warrior says they walk down as the same. Hulk says Sarge's toxins put more fire on the Hulksters and Warriors. Hulk then says his whatcha gonna do line with Warrior.

The Match Made in Hell - Special Referee: Sid Justice - Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior vs Sgt. Slaughter, Col. Mustafa and General Adnan

So yeah, this feud has been going on since early in the year. I'm not sure why it really needed to be continued. Maybe it was laziness. Maybe Vince knew he was getting Sid and Flair but knew he wouldn't get them fast enough. There really haven't been that many new developments to this feud since Mania except for Sid getting involved. One would actually think Jake and Taker would be involved in this if you watched TV since Warrior has been involved with Taker for months.

Heenan calls Warrior "Captain Schizo" and says he'd make coffee nervous. The Warrior supposedly held up Vince for money prior to this match and was fired right after it.

They take a while to get moving. Sarge tries to back up Sid and is pushed away. Sarge clubs on Hulk. Sarge is sent into the buckles chest first. Hulk and Warrior hit punches on Sarge.

Warrior atomic drops Sarge. Sarge takes a double boot. Sarge's head is banged off the buckles for 2. Sarge takes a running elbow from Hulk. Sarge's head is banged off Hulk's boot. Hulk double axe handles Sarge off the buckles. Hulk chokes Sarge in the corner. Hulk hits punches on Sarge.

Hulk's head is banged off of Mustafa's boot. Adnan pounds on Hulk. Mustafa gutwrench suplexes Hulk then camel clutches Hulk. Sarge backbreakers Hulk for 2. Hulk's head is banged off the buckles and Sarge hcokes hulk. Sid physically pushes Sarge off.

Hulk is whipped into Sid. Hulk and Sid stare down and threaten the other. Sarge then hits Hulk from behind. Adnan works on Hulk and eye rakes him. Sarge goes up top and is pushed off the top.

Warrior gets tagged in and running lariats Sarge multiple times. Warrior runs into Sid, stares him down and Sarge uses the opportunity to get a shot in on Warrior. Adnan rakes Warrior's back. Warrior suplexes Mustafa. Sarge gets back in and hits Hulk on the apron. Sid stops Hulk and Warrior is double teamed.

Sarge gets on Warrior's back with a sleeper maybe. Warrior flying lariats Sarge. Hulk is tagged in. He hits punches on Sarge then hits the big boot. Warriors hits shots on Mustafa and Adnan. Sarge's head is banged off the buckles. Warrior grabs a chair and chases Adnan and Mustafa to the back. Hulk throws powder in Sarge's face then legdrops him to win.

Thoughts:
The ending was typical poor Hulk Hogan babyface work here as him and Warrior openly cheated to win. I didn't like the finish at all. The rest of the match was fine though with them teasing issues with Sid and the faces and the faces making their comeback to win. I really hope this is the end of the Sarge vs Hulk feud.

The Warrior is still in the back and never comes back out. Hulk calls for Sid to come out.  Hulk rips off Sid's shirt. Sid and Hulk pose together.

Thoughts: I always felt like this was a way to crown Sid as the new top face with Hulk giving him the okay. This would have been a great way to turn Sid heel and kickstart the build to Mania VIII.

The Mountie is in the cell and is complaining. Another prisoner tells him to be quiet. He asks if Mountie wants to fight him. Mountie tells him to get out of here. The guy points to the other prisoner and he very clearly prefers the company of men, asking if Mountie likes how leather feels on the body. Mountie then screams.

We then get a video on Macho Man proposing to Miss Elizabeth and a video on their history.

They set up the ring for the Match Made in Heaven with a priest and a high pedestal for Macho and Liz. They do the wedding. The priest asks if Macho will take Liz as his wife. Macho says, "ooh yeah". Liz then says "I will" to marrying Macho. The priest pronounces them husband and wife. The priest says Macho can kiss the bride and they kiss. Balloons and streamers fall from the top of the arena and they walk out together.

Thoughts: There's not a lot you can really say about this. It was a nice little moment and a way to get Macho on the show without having him wrestle since he lost the career vs career match at Wrestlemania VII.

Note - So, the version of this I was watching that is on Peacock, doesn't include the wedding reception. The wedding reception was not on the live PPV but was only on the Coliseum Video version of the show. I'm not sure why they did that but I didn't think it was a good idea. They should have done the wedding earlier in the show then shown the wedding reception. And you'll see why...

We go to the wedding reception. Heenan shakes his head at Macho and Macho tells security to show Heenan the exit. Macho says he likes the camera man and thanks him for everything. We see Gene Okerlund delivering the toast for "Mr. and Mrs. Macho".

Macho and Liz kiss then we see them dance. We see them cut the cake. Liz puts some cake in Macho's mouth then Macho puts cake in Liz's mouth. Macho gets the cake all over his hands. Liz throws the boquet.

Mean Gene talks to Macho. He says he has never seen anything as beautiful as this. Macho pulls out a gift as Liz says he's supposed to wait. Macho gets a blender and Gene says he can make some cocktails. Macho says they will make out like bandits. They open up some silverware. Liz grabs another gift and there's a snake inside. Liz freaks out and The Undertaker hits Macho in the head with the urn. Liz screams and Jake Roberts shoves a snake at Liz. Liz screams. Sid Justice comes to the save with a chair. Jake then kicks a table over as chaos erupts.

Thoughts: This was a great angle and set up some possible matches here with Macho/Sid/Jake/Taker. Jake had just turned heel by tricking The Warrior into getting bit by a snake.

Overall thoughts: It was an interesting show overall. The opener was average. Bret/Perfect had a good match. Virgil beat Ted Dibiase in the highlight moment of his career. Boss Man/Mountie wasn't great but Mountie getting locked up in the jail cell was a memorable moment. The LOD beat The Nasty's as expected in a short match. IRS beat Valentine in an an acceptable bathroom break match. The main was okay but went as expected. Liz and Macho got married and the wedding reception featured a great angle.  The Rockers were absent here (Shawn only wrestled 3 times from August to Sept 1991), The Beverly Brothers were absent and it was really surprising that Ric Flair didn't appear on the show (maybe he legally wasn't able to?). It was also notable that a lot of names were on the show but not wrestling including Jake, Undertaker, Piper and Sid. It wasn't quite as good as I remembered it but I'd give it a 7 out of 10 overall as the booking made sense, they delivered on their promises and the show left you satisfied.
