AEW Dynamite 3/2/2022

Tony Khan met up with Tony Schiavone in the ring and announced he bought Ring of Honor. He said because Danielson and Daniels were in the first main event for ROH, they would wrestle here.
Bryan Danielson vs Christopher Daniels
Daniels hasn't been on Dynamite for 7 months. His eye is really messed up and they shook hands to observe the Code of Honor. Danielson took him down then suplexed him. Danielson did some posing then Daniels armdragged him over and posed back. Bryan stretched him then Daniels hit a leg lariat. He then did a seated moonsault on him to the outside. They traded shots and Daniels hit a blue thunder. Daniels hit an STO then iconoslammed him for 2. Daniels crossbodied him from the top but Danielson rolled through. Daniels went for la magistral, but Danielson hit it instead. Danielson hit a spinning forearm for 2.
Danielson blocked a top rope hurricanrana then took a uranage. Daniels hit a double jump moonsault and got caught in a triangle. Danielson then submitted him.
It was alright. It was the same Daniels match he has been doing for almost 20 years now with little change.
Danielson said they used to start and end matches with handshakes in ROH. He said he isn't in ROH and he's here to kick someone's head in. He then did some boots to Daniels's head. Moxley then came out.
Moxley came out and invited Bryan to take his shot now. Bryan went to hit him then ran out.
Sting and Darby talked from the back. They said they weren't worried about fines or suspensions for the triple threat on Friday as Darby didn't need the help. Darby said him and Sammy would steal the show at the PPV.
Tag Team Battle Royal for a tag title shot
The big news here was that Darius Martin and now Top Flight are back. Max Caster also said FTR is less popular than Kane's tweets. People got mad this week because Kane doesn't want the US to get involved with the Russia/Ukraine war. I guess Max disagrees, but then I'd have to ask why he's here then and not in Ukraine?
Red Dragon came down near the end of this and helped eliminate FTR. The Young Bucks and Top Flight were then left. The Bucks ended up winning with Darius Martin being the last elimination and Top Flight looks like idiots for losing on their big return. This went on forever like the one last week and wasn't much more entertaining.
Jurassic Express came out after and yelled at the Bucks from the stage.
Chris Jericho did a promo. He said everyone is buzzing over him and Eddie's "promo" last week. He said he has been a star for so long and Eddie hasn't. Jericho says Eddie gets his chance to win the big one and Jericho says he is the big one. Jericho said he will shake his hand and say he has his respect if he beats him, but then laugh at him and tell him to GFY if he loses. Santana and Ortiz then came in and pounded fists with Jericho without speaking. He said he always had their back.
CM Punk came out to talk. He said he splashed water in his face every morning and asked if he was the bad guy. He said he was certain until last week that MJF was the bad guy. He talked about some of the things MJF did and said he didn't shake MJF's hands when he first arrived.
Punk talked about some of the bad things he did as MJF came out. He said all the hate doesn't warm you up, but tears you up. He said he asked himself today if he was the good guy and said he sure is trying. He then tried to shake MJF's hand and MJF hugged him. MJF then kicked him in the crotch and piledrove him over the midlde rope. He then took off his shirt and revealed he had the shirt on with a picture of him and Punk underneath. Pinnacle came out. MJF then nailed Punk with the dynamite diamond ring and Punk was bleeding. They choked Punk with a chain over the top rope and said MJ will convince him he is the devil himself. Darby, Sammy and Sting then made the save. The Punk/MJF stuff has gone on for too long and you just never know who is the face or heel or who is pretending to be the face or heel each week. Punk looked like a dope here for getting tricked.
Keith Lee was being interviewed by Tony S. then Starks and Hobbs interrupted. Starks said if Lee shows up on Rampage, he may not make it to AEW Revolution. He said he'll be there.
Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter vs Mercedes Martinez and Thunder Rosa
Tay Conti and Anna Jay were interviewed. Jade came in and said no one cares about her karate and Mark threatened to take away her title shot if Tay touched Jade.
Kris Statlander did a promo on Leyla. She said she doesn't know how to take a loss. Leyla was mad at Kris' adoption line and Kris said she would give her something to struggle with. Leyla said her actions would speak louder than her words.
Wardlow vs Cezar Bononi
Cezar got powerbombed quick then Wardlow hit a couple more and won it in quick fashion.
Spears went to chair Cezar after and Wardlow stopped it. They stared down and Spears backed off.
The House of Black talked. They said they don't pass judgment, they seek the truth. They said everyone judges but everyone is afraid of final judgment.
Wardlow and Shawn Spears were interviewed. MJF came in and said if Wardlow wins the ladder match, he can keep the title. MJF said he won't win it anyway, and Wardlow said he is too busy making sure MJF wins. MJF slaps him and says he isn't a wrestler, he's a bodyguard for him. MJF said Wardlow's family would be out on the streets if he keeps up. This was good.
Hangman Page, John Silver and Alex Reynolds vs Red Dragon and Adam Cole
Page and Fish started out and Page hit some punches. Page then hit a big boot. Kyle and Silver traded leg kicks then Silver suplexed him. The Dark Order then rolled Kyle backwards while hooking his legs. Kyle abdominal stretched alex and got some help from Fish. Kyle ran and Page chased him then got kicked from behind by Fish. Page and Cole went at it briefly then Cole ran out.
We went to PiP break and returned. Silver was beat up by Cole during the break and Kyle took over as we returned. Kyle leglocked Silver then Page got in. Page hit some punches on Kyle and fallaway slammed him. Page then plancha'd Fish on the outside. Page pop-up powerbombed Kyle for 2 and lariated him.
Cole and Page went face to face and traded forearms and punches. Then the other teammates traded as well. Silver hit a bunch of kicks on Cole then Page lariated Cole. Cole hit a superkick on Reynolds then hit him with the boom knee for the win.
This was okay. They didn't overdo it and kept it fast paced. Not great or anything though, but this Page/Cole thing does not feel like a big deal.
Page fought off Red Dragon after but got stopped on the buckshot lariat attempt. Page was duct taped to the ropes after. Reynolds took a panama sunrise then Cole put the belt on Page to end the show.
Overall thoughts: Some okay stuff here but it had another lame battle royale, the Punk/MJF story continues to have confusion over who is who and Cole/Page is a cold program. This was not a great build up to the PPV.
