WWE NXT: Roadblock 3/8/2022

WWE NXT: Roadblock 3/8/2022

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2022/03/wwe-nxt-20-312022.html

Toxic Attraction is in the Toxic Lounge in the stands.

Dusty Rhodes Classic - Women's Semifinals - Wendy Choo and Dakota Kai vs Cora Jade and Raquel Gonzalez

Wendy lays down and sleeps on the mat and Jade opts not to just pound on her. RG goes for an elbow and Wendy moves. RG airplane spins her and does a sloppy drop on her. Wendy and Kai hit face kicks on Cora and only Mandy is left in the lounge. Kai axe kicks then reverse axe kicks Wendy in the back.

Kai and Wendy double trip Cora then Wendy headlocks Cora. Wendy rolls her up and they both get some pin attempts while rolling around. Wendy baseball slides her and gets her back rammed into the apron. Toxic Attraction then hits RG in the knee with something outside as Dakota Kai is hearing voices.

We go to break and return with Kai choking Cora. We also saw RG getting seen by the doctors during the break. Cora dropkicks Kai then Cora bronco busters Wendy. Wendy hits a full nelson slam on Cora and RG comes in. She's hobbling on one leg and slams Kai for 2.

Kai does a neat sunset flip back cracker. RG tries to hit a one handed powerbomb but her leg gives out then Kai face kicks her. Kai top rope double stomps her and wins it.

This was alright. I liked the storytelling of RG getting injured and having to wrok around it. I didn't like Wendy laying down on the mat though. The gimmick of Kai hearing voices or seeing things is not working right now and needs work.

Ciampa says he will become champ again tonight and says this match means more than the title. Ciampa says the win gets him to Stand and Deliver's main event and says that is a big thing for him.

Tiffany Stratton is taking selfies then Sarray pops up way behind her watching.

We cut to the back and the Creed Brothers are down and there's a crowbar around. Seems like it is Tony D's work.

RG is with the doctors in the back.

Tiffany Stratton vs Fallon Henley

Tiff rolls and kips up out of a wristlock. FH dropkicks her then Tiff does a butt bump as FH's neck is on the ropes. FH hits a neckbreaker into a lariat combo. She tries for a crossbody but gets caught and samoan dropped. Smoke starts to spray and Sarray slides on the mat and kicks Tiff, then FH grabs the win.

Tiff looked good here and while the finish was lame, at least there was a reason for it. Two matches in a row being affected by interference isn't good though.

Briggs and Jensen then celebrate with Fallon, which is a new pairing. Weird they didn't have them just interfere or something,

We go to Chase University. He said the entrance last week was messy and said Jared looked like a "dumb@ss". He put over Bodyhi for last week and his eye looks really bad. Another student asks about it then Chase gets mad and throws a basketball at him.

Trick and Carmelo Hayes are the barbershop talking trash. He talks about the golden rules - he has the gold, so he makes the rules. He talks about the ladder match and they say it will have 4 more competitors, but they all have to qualify. Trick said he's scared of heights and Carmelo says he is doing this, because he can. This was a good segment as most of Carmelo's are.

Lashing Out with Lash Legend

It's been a while since we have seen this. Nikkita Lyons is the guest. Lash asks if Nikkita's mom was her dad's groupie or everyone's groupie. Nikkita says her mom is a free spirit. Lash puts her finger in her face and says she has butt implants. She says she is natural and says the only natural thing about Lash is that she is full of sh!t.

Imperium is interviewed. They said they would never do such a thing like attack the Creed Brothers. They say the Creed Brothers aren't ready for them then MSK comes in and says they want a shot at them tonight.

Briggs and Jensen celebrate with Fallon. LdF walk in the back and Jensen accuses them of attacking the Creeds. They say when they attack, people know about it. Lopez says Jensen can't get laid. Fallon asks if they did it and Jensen says they are the good guys.

Last Man Standing - LA Knight vs Grayson Waller

GW gets jumped on his entrance and thrown into the rails. Knight then goes into the rails and GW goes into the steps. Knight running knees him in the corner then GW stun guns him. GW hits him with knees then GW rolls in from the outside and stunners him.

GW goes up top and Knight superplexes/ddt's him and almost lands him on his neck. We go to PiP break. They are fighting in the stands and on a platform. GW gets knocked off of it but Sanga walks out with GW in his arms.

Knight chairs Sanga, who doesn't get hurt then he chokeslams Knight on the apron. GW grabs handcuffs but Knight gets them and handcuffs Sanga to the post. Knight hits some lariats and a neckbreaker. GW eye pokes him and goes for the roll into the stunner but Knight catches him and dumps him onto a table on the outside.

GW beats the count and Knight pounds on him. Knight teases hitting him with a chair and GW talks him out of it. Knight then puts a trash can on GW's head and chairs it. Knight chairs Sanga in the back a bunch of times. GW hits him and it's revealed he had a slapjack. Knight gets put on a table then GW elbows him off the top rope through the announcer's table. Both men are down and can't get up then GW grabs onto Sanga and Sanga pulls him up in an interesting finish.

It's a WWE match so it's not as good as it might be in other promotons but it was still good. The crowd was int it and they kept it moving. The finish was interesting and the big table finish spot was cool. Knight losing kind of sucks but if he's moving up to the main roster, then I guess it's okay.

Bron Breakker is in the locker room. He says he works hard in the ring and in the film room because he loves this business. He says he will run through this roadblock tonight.

Tony D is at his cousin Mikey's restaurant. He said Mikey was his silent partner then the owner sold him the restaurant and implies he did something to make him do it. Tony talks about Wrestlemania Weekend and says he is the new don of NXT.

We go back to the Toxic Lounge and Blade and Enfoe have taken out the men there and replaced them since they like Mandy.

Dusty Rhodes Classic - Women's Semifinals - Kay Lee Ray and Io Shirai vs Kayden Carter and Kacy Catanzaro

KLR and Kayden shae their butts at each other then Kacy slingshot sentons in on KLR. Kacy does a nice backflip into a headscissors but Io flips out of it. Kacy then hurricanrana's her and cartwheels into a headscissors. Kacy tornillo's on KLR.

We go to break and return. Io tries for a swinging side slam and gets a tornado ddt from Kayden. Kayden flips Kacy over her back into a moonsault on Io then Io 619's Kayden. Io missile dropkicks Kayden for 2. Kayden comes off the 2nd rope to bulldog KLR. Io hits a big missile dropkick on Kayden. KLR is put on Kayden's shoulders then Kacy nearly kills her with a poisonrana on her head. Io then top rope moonsaults Kacy and wins it.

This was a good match for the women's standards with KLR's insane bump and lots of high flying moves. Probably one of the better ones in a long time and I think it is worth seeing.

Cora Jade attacks Mandy in the lounge after for attacking her partner.

Indi Hartwell is watching her loss to Dakota Kai last week. Persia Pirotta walks in with Duke Hudson and Indi wants to know where she was. She doesn't think Persia cares about their loss and thinks Duke is up to something. Persia says she carried the team and Indi isn't happy. they argue over who is better then Duke tries to break it up and Indi gets angrier. Indi challenges her to find out who the better woman is. Duke says Persia needs a training partner and they make out.

Tiffany Stratton is interviewed and is mad at Sarray. She said she is mad at Sarray for saying no to her and ruining her match. She said she's breaking her necklace and face next week.

NXT Tag Title - Imperium (c) vs MSK

Barthel and Carter go at it. Carter hurricanrana's him from the 2nd rope and basement dropkicks him. Barthel comes back with a euro uppercut. MSK double teams Barthel. Aichner slams Lee into the ropes and it looked pretty nasty.

Aichner hits a big lariat on Carter Lee kick combos Barthel and dropkicks him in the neck. He then hits a nice moonsault off the 2nd rope then Carter cannonballs Aichner. The Creed Brothers then run-in and beat up everyone, hitting some wild looking suplexes. Aichner almost dies on one of them and takes a nasty bump off a lariat over the top.

The match was fast paced and short until the run-in finish.

Joe Gacy and Harland go up to Draco Anthony while he works out. You can hear the crowd still chanting for the Creeds in the back. Xyon Quinn goes up to Draco and tells him not to let them get into his head. Joe tells Draco that he is still waiting to know whether he wants to work with them or not and Draco thanks Xyon.

We get a vignette on A-Kid. We see some clips of him in NXT UK. He is debuting next week and says he wants to test himself against the best talent and show what he is all about. This was half in Spanish and my guess is that's the reason he is being brought in.

Jacket Time are in the back and talking about A-Kid. Kushida says he is better than A-Kid and isn't impressed.

WWE NXT Title - Bron Breakker (c) vs Dolph Ziggler vs Tomasso Ciampa

Bron looks at Dolph and Ciampa pops him. Dolph pounds on Bron and Bron misses a crossbody on Ciampa. Ciampa hits some chops then Bron spinebusters Dolph. Bron double suplexes Dolph and Ciampa at the same time.

Ciampa punches Dolph then catapults him into the post. Ciampa then tornillo's Bron outside. Ciampa clotheslines both opponents in the corners. Dolph botches a dropkick on Ciampa then gets ran over with a Bron lariat.

Dolph takes a huge overhead suplex from Dolph then Brok pops-up Ciampa and he falls down. Bron camel clutches Ciampa then Dolph sleepers him. All three trade shots. Dolph fameasser's then zigzag's Ciampa for 2. Dolph ddt's Bron then Bron randomly dives to the side. He then comes back in spears both opponents.

Bron gorilla press slams Dolph and Robert Roode comes out and pulls out the ref. Bron decks him then Ciampa ddt's him then hits a fairy tale ending. Dolph pushes Ciampa out of the way and tries to steal the pin. Roode pulls out Bron, pulling his trunks down in the process and making him take a bad bump. Dolph then superkicks Ciampa and wins it. Everyone is shocked as Bron loses the title unexpectedly without getting pinned.

It was a good main event with a surprise ending. A little short but it was fast paced with a lot of actio. I don't know if taking the belt off Bron was the right call, but at least it will likely give him a program at Stand and Deliver.

Overall thoughts:
I liked 3 of the matches here so this was a good one and worth seeing.
