Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling 3/19/2022 - Grand Princess 2022

Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling 3/19/2022 - Grand Princess 2022

They introduced two new rookies and then Up Up Girls performed.

Up Up Girls said they would have a new member joining then did another song.

Suzume and Arisu Endo vs Moka Miyamoto and Juria Nagano

Juria came out in a nurses outfit and Suzume is crying tears of joy to be here. Endo and Moka go to the mat to start. Juria and Suzume get in and Juria throws karate punches. Moka gets back in and slams Suzume then Suzume hitsa nice dropkick. Endo does a nice twirl around Moka then dropkicks her in the back but takes another slam. Juria hits a neat double punch on Endo for 2.

Moka and Endo trade then Moka gut punches her and takes her down by the arm. Moka karate chops her back and Endo comes back with a dropkick. Suzume then hits a couple of dropkicks and jumps on her shoulder for a headscissors. Moka comes back with dropkicks. Suzume evades Juria's karate punch then dropkicks and bulldogs her. Suzumemisses a top rope crossbody  then Juria hits a nice strike combo with a reverse axe kick. Juria and Moka hit a cool double kick and Moka cobra twists Suzume.

Suzume springboards off the 2nd rope for a bulldog on Moka then Moka takes a stiff double dropkick. Endo does a double jump dropkick on Juria then Suzume does a very weird stunner to win it. She basically like piledrove herself for it.

It was fine. Juria didn't get to do much so they must not have a ton of faith in her yet. I liked the double karate spots from Juria and Moka and Suzume's dropkicks but I think having people lose on their debut is dumb.

Nao Kakuta, Mahiro Kiryu, Haruna Neko and Kaya Toribami vs Yuna Manase, Moeka Haruhi, HARUKAZE and YuuRi

Moeka forces Nao to pose then double stomps her then Nao came back with a ddt. Neko walked the top rope and eye raked Moeka then took a Moeka back rake. Moeka then double stomped her back. Yuuri then gets in and top rope dropkicks Neko.

Kaya throws over Yuna then does a springboard flip off the 2nd rope. Moeka and Haru double bulldog Kaya then Haru top rope crossbodies her for 2. Haru armbars Kaya then hits some chest forearms. She then takes a spin kick and a pele kick to the back. Haru then spears Kaya for 2.

Nao and Yuna go at it and Nao headscissors her over the top rope. She then stunners her over the top rope for 2. Yuna hits a nice lariat for 2 on her. Haru and Meoka hit traingles over the top while Yuna and Yuuri put chokes on in the ring. Nao facewash kicks Yuna then wrist clutch sto's her for 2.

Yuna hits a lightning spiral on Kiryu for 2 then Kiryu sideslammed her for 2. Kiryu forearms her down then Yuna lariats her for the win.

This was fast paced with everyone getting a chance to get something in and wasn't bad.

Sanshiro Takagi vs Hyper Misao

Misao came out with a light-up helmet and a Japanes style flag. Nonoko was out here with flowers. Takagi came out dressed as Misao and had her outfit painted on his body/ He called himself Hyper Sanshiro.

Misao, Nonoko and another girl then attacked him with flowers and he got a running chest bump from Nonoko. Takagi hit Misao with flowers thne a shirt on a board and karate gut punched her. He then hit a purposely bad rider kick.

Misao came back with a crossbody off the 2nd rope and hit him with the shirt on a board. Chairs were set up in the ring and Takagi hit her with one, then chsed her behind the stage. He came back with a bicycle with stuff on it then Misao did too. They rammed the bikes into each other and fell over and the chair pyramid was finally built in the ring.

They went into the stands then Misao jumped off an entrance onto Takagi and Yukio Naya.  Misao shook tamborines in Takagi's ears and threw them at him. They then got Misao's bike in the ring and she rode through the chair stack, making all of them fall on her. Misao got hit with a chair by Takagithen she cold sprayed him.

Takagi sprayed Misao with a fire extinguisher and yelled "hero beam" then F-U'd her for 2.  They put plastic boxes on Misao and Takagi accidentally splahed them when she moved. Misao then top rope crossbodied him for the win with his shoulder up.

They talked on the mic after and Misao stunnered him. She then had her music played while she left.

As expected, it was goofy comedy though it was funny at points.

Nodoka Tenma vs Yuki Aino

There was singer for this and both girls ended up coming out at the same time since they are partners. This is going to be their first and only match against each other since one of them is retiring.

They work the headlock early and Tenma gets her with some shoulder blocks. Aino comes back with a crossbody then hits a shoulder off the second rope. She then sentons her for 2. Tenma then came back with a splash off the 2nd rope.

They traded forearms then Aino bulldogged her then reverse ddt'd her. Then Tenma came back with a bulldog. they both got back up and Aino hit a gut wrench then Tenma immediately hit a fallaway slam. Tenma then came back again with a shoulder and butterfly suplexed her for the win.

I didn't like this at all. It was slow and everytime someone did a move, the other person came back and hit something, destroying any momentum it had.

Marika Kobashi, Pom Harajuku, Raku & Ram Kaicho vs. NEO Biishiki-gun (Martha, Mei Saint-Michel, Sakisama & Yukio Saint Laurent)

They had the whole Neo Biishiki-gun crew out there. Saki mocks Ram's height then gets her toes stepped on and hits her with a big boot. Raku puts the whole Neo Biishiki-gun to sleep except for Yukio...then Yukio just lays himself down. The faces then all walk on them and Raku tries to pin four people at once.

Yukio brings out of a syringe and tells the ref to wake his partners up. Raku slingblades Mei then Pom comes in and kicks Martha in the shin. Mei and Martha grab Pom by the nose and hit their hands then Martha hiptosses Pom with a broom. Mei then uses the broom to do a springboard move off the 2nd rope.

Pom does a nice back roll into a spinning headscissors on Yukio then Ram crossbodies Martha. Ram took away Yukio's syringe, so he grabbed another and stabbed her with it. Ram then stabbed Yukio with it. Marika hit some dropkicks on Saki then Saki running kicked her back. Saki then hit a spinning high kick but Marika fought back with chops. Martha put a mop in the ref's face then Mei and Saki hit Marika with a rose/tray combo.

Martha tried to put a mop in Marika's face but hit Saki with it. Raku then did a top rope chop on Yukio and her and Pom double dropkicked one of the NBG members. Ram hit a rainmaker on Saki. Marika then hit a shining wizard on Saki for 2. The heels came back and Mei double dropped knees from the top on Marika with a broom. Saki then hit Marika with a shotgun dropkick to the face to win it.
Saki gave Marika a rose after.

It goes against everything I like and don't like, but it was entertaining. They all played to their goofy characters and the match really did have a lot going on to it. If I was a little more well versed in TJPW, I would have enjoyed more as this had a bunch of throw back references. No, there wasn't much realism, but they did just about everything else right and that has to be credited here.

Hikaru Shida vs. Hikari Noa

They had the old New Japan announcer out for this one in a cool moment. Aja Kong is also on commentary.

They get rowdy with each other early as Noa slaps away her handshake then gets pushed. Noa then hit her with dropkicks then Shida came back with a flying kick. Noa's head hung over the apron then Shida hit a running knee. A chair was brought out and Noah chaired Shida in the back.

Shida then used a kendo stick on Noa they traded another chair for kendo stick shot. Back in and Noa hit a flying clothesline. They went up top and Noa cobra twised her on the top then top rope dropkicked her. Shida enzugiri'd Noa then Noa came back with a back rollup for 2. They botched a tilt-a-whirl spot then Shida suplexed her.

Noa hit a really nice exploder suplex. Shida came back with a sit out dominator then falcon arrowed her for the win.

This was rushed with no selling whatsoever. It felt like a 15-20 minute match squeezed out in like 10 minutes. They also had a few botches and Shida hardly looked like some great superstar here.

International Princess Title Match - Maki Ito (c) vs. Yuki Arai

Maki gets a big entrance with two back-up dancers while she sings her song.

Arai wants a handshake and Itoh just stares her down. Arai hits a facekick early and they go outside where Ito hits some forearms. Itoh then grabs her microphone stand from her entrance and chokes Arai with it. Ito then stands on Arai and talks on the mic then poses for the camera's.

Arai tries to come back but gets driven int othe post and slammed on the floor. Back in and Arai gets a slam on Ito then facekicks her. Maki then neckbreakers her over the knee. Maki stands on her back and stomps on it. Arai rolls to the apron then Maki bridging ddt's her to the floor from the apron. Back in and Itoh ddt's Arai then crabs her.

Arai tries to fight back and Itoh slaps her. Arai keeps going and takes a jumping ddt and doesn't sell it then hits an axe kick. They trade forearms and do it at the same time. Itoh then headbutts her. Ito hit a top rope headbutt. Itoh then crabbed her and hit the ropes.

They traded forearms on the buckles then Ito hit a weird top rope ddt. Itoh then does a very high texas cloverleaf and wins it. Itoh offers her hand after and Arai is pissed and Itoh says something.

This match was more of a storyline match than an attempt to put on a great match. I know people hated Maki going over, but these two are going to be meeting many more times and Arai will eventually get the win down the road. If you look at this like the beginning of the story and not the end, the result will make more sense. Do this match again and again in the next few years and Arai can gradually go more even with her and win it. They have the formula down already. These two worked well together.

Princess Tag Team Title Match - Magical Sugar Rabbits (Mizuki & Yuka Sakazaki) (c) vs. Hakuchumu (Miu Watanabe & Rika Tatsumi)

Miu and Rika were carried out to the ring on a stand and both wore special entrance outfits. The Magical Sugar Rabbits came out on a flying carpet with a fake tiger and some smoke underneath. It could have been better nut it's the thought that counts. They then got pushed in carts to the ring.

The MSR's jump them with dropkicks to start. Yuka airplane spins Mizuki to use her legs to hit opponents. Yuka then throws Mizuki at her opponents. Rika hits a nice dropkick on Mizuki then Mizuki takes a double sledgehammer shot. Miu and Rika then double elbow drop her.

Mizuki drops double knees on Miu's back then Yuka comes off the ropes and kicks Miu followed by a headscissors. Yuka then rolls her into a kick and hits a sliding lariat. Mizuki then top rope double stomps Miu for 2. Mizuki and Yuka then hit nice double dropkicks off the 2nd rope on Miu. Mizuki then climbs on Yuka's back and sunset flips Miu.

Mizuki headscissors Miu then hits a nasty double stomp through the ropes. Mizuki then goes up top and gets nailed and falls to the floor. Rika then running hip attacks her from the apron. Rika gets reverse alabama slammed by Miu onto Mizuki for 2. Miu then slams both opponents at the same time.

Miu swings both opponents in the giant swing at the same time then Rika hip attacks Mizuki. Rika then does it to her off the 2nd rope for 2. Mizuki hits a nice running dropkick on Rika. Miu gets in and throws Rika's butt into Yuka's face (infamously named the diaper-pult online) then Mizuki crossbodies both opponents off the 2nd rope. Rika hip attacks Yuka then Miu hits a big powerslam on Mizuki.

Rika and Yuna go at it and Yuna headbutts her then hits some hard forearms before hitting a spinning forearm. Yuka goes for a springboard splash on Rika, but she blocks it. Rika then works the legs and puts her in a figure four. Rika high kicks Mizuki then Yuna takes a reverse magic killer type of move. Rika hits a fast hip attack on her

Miu nails Yuka with a hard slap then gets rolled-up and stomped by Mizuki. Mizuki does the spinning in mid-air crossbody. Rika takes a 2nd buckle double stomp then Yuna springboard 450's her for the win.

This was a good one. The action was super fast paced, they hit each other hard and aggressively and they busted out some of the bigger moves to make this special.

Princess Of Princess Title Match - Miyu Yamashita (c) vs. Shoko Nakajima

They wrestle on the mat to start. Miyu hits a hard kick early and Shoko comes back with a corkscrew forearm. Shoko then tries to dive on her but Miyu kicks her in the head and Shoko is out on the floor.

Miyu does a nice hipthrow then anaconda vice's her. Miyu then hits a hard basement dropkick for the back for 2. Miyu then does her screw kick for 2. Shoko comes back with dropkicks then tope's her outside. She then tries a tope con hilo and mostly just lands on her neck. Shoko does a nice body hurricanrana then 619's her.

Shoko goes up top and gets high kicked then hits her with a dropkick to the back anyway from up there. Miyu top rope F-U's her for 2. They trade forearms and Miyu hits a high kick. Shoko hits some northern lights suplexes for 2. Miyu then triangle kicks her in the corner. Miyu then hits a nice roll-through delayed german for 2 and buzzsaw kicks her. Shoko doesn't sell it much then 619's her. Miyu then spin kicks her in the back of the head and Shoko catches her with a surprise hurricanrana. She ddt's her then top rope sentons her for surprise win.

The selling was really lacking towards the end and it was a little slow early. I didn't love the finish either. I thought it was okay but nowhere near a classic. Shoko needed to sell more here to get this over as well.

Everyone comes out to end the show and they thank the fans on the mic on the stage.

Overall thoughts: They really did a good job here at putting on a show that felt like a big one. They had a bunch of special entrances, everyone wore special gear and we had some big matches. I think any TJPW fan would enjoy this one and I did as well. Definitely one worth seeing.
