WWE NXT 2.0 3/1/2022

WWE NXT 2.0 3/1/2022

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2022/02/wwe-nxt-20-2222022.html

Ciampa and Bron come out. Ciampa is wearing similar gear to Bron...and looks silly.

Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler vs Bron Breakker and Tomasso Ciampa

Ciampa and Bron jump them during their entrance. Ciampa tornillo's Roode then they both sit on the apron and pat themselves on the back. Ciampa throws up Dolph into a dangerous looking spinebuster by Bron. Dolph then zig zags Bron for 2. Roode neckbreakers Bron twice and Roode suplexes him. Roode top rope elbows him for 2.

Dolph misses a corner splash off a Roode irish whip then Ciampa hot tags in. He hits a bunch of clotheslines including a double on his opponents. Roode spinebusters Ciampa. We go to PiP break and return with Dolph getting catapulted out. Ciamp goes for the tag but Bron is pulled off the apron and thrown into the crowd.

Ciampa is double hiptosses into a powerbomb/neckbreaker combo. Ciampa hits a pumping knee on Roode then hot tags to Bron. Bron hits a big belly to belly on Dolph then one on Roode. Bron hits a nice clothesline and runs into a knee. Bron hits a huge spear on Dolph and electric chairs him then Ciampa hits a bulldog off the top on Dolph. Bron spears the middle buckle then Ciampa hits a fairy tale ending for the win.

The extra false finish was weird and didn't help the match but this was a good one otherwise. The crowd was hot for this and Bron looked totally main roster ready here. I really did like the double team bulldog move since it is a nod to the Steiners but I don't get why it didn't end the match.

LA Knight said he is calling out Grayson Waller and says it is time to pay the piper.

Gunther says Solo Sikoa will get what he wanted tonight. He said tonight he is facing a professional and Solo will bring shame to the islands. He said he will chop his tribe tattoos off his body and replace it with respect. He said Solo's win streak ends tonight.

LA Knight comes out and talks about the history of their feud then Grayson Waller comes out with Sanga on the balcony. He said he beat him last week and their feud is finished now. He said he hopes the fans have a terrible night and says they all suck. LA said he has been the one standing every time they fight and challenges him to a last man standing match. Waller agrees. Both men were good on the mic here and LA is super over.

Persia and Indi talk backstage. Indi says her and Dexter will be fine and asks if Persia is focused. Persia says she is, Indi heads off and tells her to come, but she checks out her phone first.

Women's Dusty Cup Quarterfinals - Wendy Choo and Dakota Kai vs Persia Pirotta and Indi Hartwell

Toxic Attraction is watching from above again. Persia grabs Wendy by the pigtails and she spins around then hits her. Indi sideslams Wendy and dropkicks her. She tries to tag Kai but Kai is talking to invisible people. Indi then takes double big boots. Indi is picked up like a double backdrop then slammed on her front. Persia hits a nice boot on Wendy for 2.

Kai gets in and facewashes Indi then stepkicks her. Persia hits Kai with a TKO variation and Kai step kicks Persia. Wendy hits an inverted frogsplash and Kai tags herself in and double stomps Persia for the win.

This wasn't too good and the Indy/Kai team isn't a good one.

Imperium and The Creed Brothers hype their match. Both teams say they are the best. Imperium says they set the standard and the Creeds say they are world class athletes.  Imperium says they will retain next week and The Creeds say they are walking into Wrestlemania Weekend the tag champs. They mentioned perception vs reality a lot during this.

Amari Miller vs Lash Legend

We see clips of them arguing last week after their loss. Lash says Amari wishes she was on her level. Lash didn't get an entrance here.

Lash hits a big step kick early and lifts her for a slam but bangs her head up and down between the ropes. Lash backbreakers her then really pushes her over the knee. Lash misses a jumping elbow. Amari hits some chest forearms then basement dropkicks her. Amari runs up the buckles and hits a nice moonsault for 2. Lash then wins with Sean O'Haire's old widowmaker finisher (inverted death valley driver). Lash then talks trash after and says she will be a star and not Nikkita Lyons.

This was short and it wasn't great or anything but no one blew anything.

Solo Sikoa is interviewed. He said Gunther can chop him all night but he will keep coming forward. He says Gunther is in for a fight and says "let's go" in a good and short promo.

Briggs and Jensen are in the back. They are looking at something on the phone and Elektra Lopez walks in, thinking she is talking about her. Briggs says he is just looking at new trucks. Elektra says she doesn't drive the cars they like and Jensen says he has given up on dating. Elektra says he wouldn't know what to do with a real woman if he saw one. Jensen then says "jokes on you, I've never been with a real woman" and says "in your face". Jensen celebrates this and Briggs calls him a fool.

Solo Sikoa vs Gunther

Gunther hits a euro and a back elbow. He pounds on Solo's chest and euro's him again. Solo comes back with chops then gets dropped with one. Gunther twists his neck with his feet then slams him. Gunther knees him in the but then elbows him in the face. Solo catches his arm and hits some back elbows, then eats a big boot.

Gunther hits a big short arm clothesline. He then crabs Solo but Solo hits the ropes. Solo starts to make a comeback but is chest slapped down. Solo spinning heel kicks him then samoan drops him. Gunther rolls to the floor and Solo splashes him off the apron.

Solo superkicks him for 2 then misses a top rope splash. Gunther sleepers him then gives it up for 2 powerbombs and the win.

Solo didn't get that much in here and it was more of a Gunther squash than a competitive match. It was just not what I hoped for and and it hurt Solo. I don't really understand the rationale behind it.

Dolph Ziggler was interviewed. He said he wants an NXT title shot next week and Ciampa said he has no claim since he pinned him. Dolph said he calls the shots then Bron came in. Dolph says he knows he can beat him and says Ciampa has already beaten him, which Ciampa confirms. Bron then says he will beat both of them and Dolph says good call. Ciampa stares at him.

Joe Gacy and Harland are outside. Gacy said Draco Anthony is not the source of Harland's feelings and everyone is fighting their own demons.

Persia and Indi complain in the back about losing. Persia blames herself and Indi says they wil and lose as a team. Indi says they will get them next time and Duke Hudson walks in and hugs Persia. Persia says she will see Indi later. Indi is waiting for Dexter's text and says she misses him.

Next week is now announced as NXT Roadblock and Ciampa vs Breakker vs Ziggler is announced for the title for it.

Draco Anthony vs Harland

No entrance for either man. Draco goes out and gets grabbed by the hair. He pulls Harland's arm over the ropes then Harland splashes his back in the corner. Harland then splashes his back as he is down.

Harland bends him over the top rope then Draco flying shoulders him. Harland bangs Draco's head off the mat then does a delayed backdrop and pushes him down on his landing. Harland then wins it. Harland hugs him after.

This was a quick squash and Harland looked fine in it.

Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes are interviewed. Trick says anytime Hayes is on the show, he is the main event. He said when you are at the top like him, you look down on everyone. He said the question tonight won't be who's next for Melo, but who's left for Melo? Short but good promo here.

Diamond Mine are in the back. Ivy Nile is beting up on a punching bag and Tatum comes in and says she knows she let Ivy down. Ivy says if you want to be part of Diamond Mine, you learn the hard way.

Women's Dusty Rhodes Classic Quarterfinals - Raquel Gonzalez and Cora Jade vs Yulisa Leon and Valentina Feroz

Yulisa dances around after taking down Cora. RG tries to F-U Feroz then Feroz tries to hurricanrana her but gets blocked. Cora then does a headscissors and drops two knees on her next to the bottom buckle. Leon runs into Feroz and gets popped up on the outside to RG, then RG eats a tope con hilo. Cora gets powerslammed then they screw up 2nd rope springboard move. They screw up a backslide//hiptoss then Cora takes a top rope dropkick by Leon.

Feroz goes to top rope crossbody RG but is caught in an impressive fallaway slam. RG then hits her single arm powerbomb then picks up Jade and slams her down on her opponent to win.

There were a couple of highlights here, but there were more botches and sloppiness in this match than anything else I've seen this year. They just could not hit anything right.

Sarray is showing off her necklace to a couple of girls then Tiffany Stratton comes in. Tiffany says Sarray's necklace is tacky and offers one of her own necklaces instead. Sarray says no then is slammed into the wall. Tiffany tells her not to say no to her.

Chase U comes out with a paper sign and Bodhi runs through it.

Tony D does a vignette. He talks about Wrestlemania Weekend. He said he has his eyes on a big fish and said he will become a made man at Stand & Deliver, and says his opponent will sleep with the fishes.

Von Wagner vs Andre Chase

Robert Stone is out there with Von. Chase hits some nice punches and takes corner spears. Chase gets picked up and slammed and takes a big boot to the face. Von throws him across the ring. Von backbreakers him then Chase works the knee. Chase hits a nice lariat and does the C-H-A-S-E-U stomps.

Bodhi Hayward and Stone argue outside and Von nails Bodhi. Chase then runs Von into the post but gets distracted. Von then lariats him and hits a death valley driver to win.

This storyline was a little weird since Chase's gimmick is better suited to him being a heel who loses and calling out Wagner isn't it. Wagner looked okay here and Chase was good, and they did protect Chase some in the loss.

Nikkita Lyons gets interviewed. She said she heard Lash Legend earlier and said she thinks Lash is afraid of her. She told Lash to bring Lashing Out back so they can talk it out woman to woman.

NXT North American Title - Carmelo Hayes (c) vs Pete Dunne

Hayes flips Dunne on a lariat then Hayes does the same for him. They collide with lariats a couple of times then flurry on each other with them. Hayes botches the landing on a suplex.

We go to PiP break and return to them hitting each other. Dunne gets hung up on the 2nd rope and high kicked. Melo slingshots inside to the apron to ddt Dunne on the apron. They trade forearms and Hayes twisting springboards into a punch from Dunne. Hayes hit a nice jump into a codebreaker for 2. Dunne goes for triangle and Hayes picks him up into the bottom rope. He then hits la mistic into a headlock and Dunne splits his fingers.

Dunne goes up top and Trick follows then gets his fingers split. Dunne is thrown off the top and Melo hits a top rope legdrop as he is bent over for the win.

This wasn't too good. They just didn't click at all together and seemed to be tryuing to do two different things at all times. The flow just never got going but it's developmental.

Trick says Hayes is still the A-Champion after. Hayes says he is a gold mine and Fort Knox needs to be built around him. He said he is taking his talents to Stand and Deliver and says there will be a ladder match for his title.

Overall thoughts:
It started off well but went downhill after. Just a ton of sloppiness tonight and a disappointing Sikoa/Gunther match.
