Dragon Gate 3/6/2022 Champion Gate Day 2
I saw 4 of the 6 matches here:
Ho Ho Lun and Masaaki Mochizuki vs Ryu Fuda and Shuji Kondo
Fuda and Mochi trade kicks. Fuda facekicks Mochi and Michi punches him in the chest. Fuda then dropkicks him. Kondo back elbows Lun and Lun fights back with chops. Kondo then double stomps him.
Kondo his a big spear on Lun for 2 then Fuda kicks Lun in the back. Lun 2nd rope dropkicks Fuda then Mochi facekicks Kondo. Mochi misses a buzzsaw kick and takes two lariats.
Fuda dropkicks Mochi off the 2nd rope then the two trade hard kicks. Lun and Mochi sandwich kick Fuda then Lun suplexes him for 2. Mochi PK's Fuda for 2 then twisters him for the win.
This was only 6 minutes and it was fine but these guys could have gone triple the time and been good.
Jason Lee vs Ben-K
Slow start to this one. Ben runs over Lee with a shoulder then catches him in mid-air. Lee hits a nice dropkick on him then Shun Skywalker gets on the apron. Lee is distracted and dropkicks Ben off the apron. He then plancha's Ben but gets caught and has his back slammed into the apron.
Ben hits a corner spear then bear hugs him on the mat. Ben then puts Lee's stomach on his shoulder and drops down on his knees. Lee tries to fight back with chops and hits his rebound enzugiri. He then sling blade's Ben as Shun yells outside.
Lee and Shun point at each other then Lee grounded hammerlocks Ben. Lee comes off the buckles on Ben and is caught with a suplex. Ben hits a strong 2nd rope dropkick off the buckles to Lee, rolling him to the other side. Ben spears him and Shun interfers to break the count. The ref is confused and all of Z-Brats beats up Ben, Lee and the ref in a stupid ending to a decent match.
Natural Vibes (Jacky Funky Kamei, Kzy, Susumu Yokosuka & U-T) vs. HIGH-END (Dragon Kid, Kagetora, Keisuke Okuda & YAMATO)
Everyone fights to start and Kzy yells on the mic as the announcer tries to run down the match. Yamato keeps at Kzy while he's yelling at him on the mic. DK takes a Susumu exploder then is lariated over the corner. DK gets beat up by Vibes for a little and he and Jacky trade chops.
Jacky gets beat up by High End for a bit. Kagetora nudos him then Susumu does the same thing to DK at the same time. Jacky hits a nice dropkick on Kagetora. Okua hits Susumu and Kzy with punches then takes a U-T slingshot codebreaker. U-T and Okuda trade forearms. U-T puts him in the heavenly lock but it gets broken.
Susumu hits a big lariat on Okuda. Kzy gets put up Yamato's shoulders up top and DK hurricanrana's him off them. Susumu nails Yamaoto with a big lariat then Kagetora is pinned after a running Kzy euro uppercut.
This as fast paced fun tag match and basically the typical Dragon Gate match you would expect. Some nice cool moves, stiffness and a very fast pace.
Open The Twin Gate Title - Dragon Dia and Yuki Yoshioka vs Z-BRATS(SB Kento and HYO) vs Eita and Yosuke Santa Maria
Yosuke headlocks Dia to start then Dia does it back to him. Yosuke hits a nice dropkick then spinarooni's up. Dia hits a single leg drop kick then Hyo rolls him up, and Yosuke rolls Hyo up after. Hyo then rolls both of them up.
Eita, Yuki and SB are in and all 3 grab eahc others legs at the same time. Yuki and Eita collide then SB rolls up Yuki then takes a nice dropkick from him. Dia then tope con hilo's a bunch of people outside. Yosuke tries to run the buckles for a move but trips (purposely).
Z-Brats double teams Yosuke then gets rolled up by Dia and Yuki. Dia and Yuki then double suplex Yosuke then everyone stomps Yosuke. Eita teases trying to break it up then stomps his own partner. Yosuke fires up and chops everyone then knocks over Dia.
Z-Brats hits a legdrop and a splash on Dia and we get more roll-up attempts. Dia gets 2v1'd by the Brats then Hyo sentons Dia off the 2nd rope. Dia flips over SB's back into a cool hurricanrana on Hyo then springboard dropkicks SB.
Dia handspring back elbows Eita then Dia running ssp's Eita. Dia hits a neat stunner on Eita. Diamanate runs in to interefere, gorilla pressing Dia across the ring. 4 wrestlers then throw Dia super high up into the air. Eita superplexes Dia up top then Hyo gets under Eita and backdrops him as he does it. Yuki comes off the top and frogsplashes Hyo and Eita then SB release german's Yuki.
SB gets a nearfall on a german on Yosuke then Yosuke kisses him for 2. SB then spinebusters him and gets rolled up for the Z-Brats elimination.
SB grabs Yosuke's foot as he runs the ropes, then Dia tries to roll up Yosuke. He doesn't pin him then he knocks SB off the apron. Yuki holds up Yosuke for a Dia bulldog off the 2nd rope then Eita stepkicks Dia and hits a stiff powerbomb. Eita and Yuki reverse each other on pin attempts and Yuki wins it.
This was a good one. Just a bunch of fast paced action here. I didn't like the interference spot as the ref should have DQ'd Z-Brats for touching him and he had to be blind to miss Diamante interfering. I also did not like Eita stomping his own partner here.
Open the Dream Gate - KAI (c) vs Big Boss Shimizu
Slow start here. Kai tries some shoulder blocks but gets nowhere. Boss bounces into the ropes on one then is thrown out, where Kai chairs him in the gut. Boss then back body drops him on the floor. Boss crossfaces him inside but Kai hits the ropes.
Boss fallaway slams him. They go back out and Boss tries to splash him against the post but Kai moves. Kai takes over for a little while and Boss misses a flying crossbody, then Kai ddt's him. Shimizu makes a comeback with a crossbody. Kai release german's him on his neck then superkicks him for 2.
Boss hits a very high sky high then they collide hard in mid-air with clotheslines. Boss crossbodies him again then hits a huge ligerbomb for 2. Boss goes up top and Kai throws the ref into the ropes, crotching Boss. They fight up top and Kai superplexes him.
Kai hits a big lariat then powerbombs him for 2. Kai then hits a driver for 2. Boss hits a la magistral cradle for 2 then they lariat battle. Boss does a urange slam off of Kai's lariat attempt, then he 2nd rope samoan drops him. Boss top rope splashes him for 2. Kai gets up from his lariat then rolls him up for the win off a chokeslam attempt.
This was a good heavyweight match. A lot of lariats and power moves as you would expect and the crowd into it a little. The finish was a little sudden and I'm surprised they didn't have Boss win here.
Overall thoughts: What I saw was much better than the night before. The crowd was more into it and the wrestlers figured out how to work with them instead of against them. I liked most of the stuff except for the finish to Lee/Ben.
