ICW 3/12/2022 - ICW No Holds Barred Vol. 23
We have chain ropes for the whole show and wooden platforms on the post to jump from.
American Deathmatch Championship - Joel Bateman (c) vs AKIRA
We have wood with cut off tin cans, light tubes, a barbed wire board and chairs for weapons here. They try to dropkick each other at the same time and Akira kicks two tubes into Joel. Joel is in a chair outside and gets kicked in the chest then Akira does a running ole kick to him. Akira spits beer at him and gets belly to belly'd into a board with tin cans. Joel then rubs the can pieces over Akira's head.
They trade shoulders and lariats to start and Broner knocks him down first. Broner hits strikes in the corner then gets some chops back. Dom kicks him in the back and Broner slaps him then takes more back kicks. Dom then hits more chest kicks and gets speared.
Broners hits bolo punches and they trade chops. Dom hits Kawada kicks and gets nailed with a forearm for 2. Broner then hits a big lariat. Broner hits a swinging side slam then Dom comes back with short piledrivers. The ref then calls it after 3-4 of them for the Dom win.
The finish was kind of lame. The strikes were okay here and they ended it right about when they should.
Satu Jinn vs Dale Patricks
Jinn gets chaired in the leg during his intro. Dale takes a chain off the ropes and starts punching him with it. Dale ties Jinn's foot to the chain ropes and chairs it. They go to the crowd and bang each other off chairs. Jinn puts ice down Dale's shirt and chops it.
Jinn suplexes Dale through a table outside then pours a drink over Dale's head. Jinn then breaks the bottle and stabs him with it. Jinn is put on a chair and Dale crossbodies him, knocking the chair over.
Jinn gets a trash can lid banged off his head then Dale goes to smoke. He then chairs him hard over the head and puts out the cigar on Jinn's head. Dale then double stomps his back off the apron. Jinn belly to belly's Dale and gets a blade. He cuts up Dan's head with it and then puts it in his mouth.
Dale clips Jinn then legdrops him over the back of the head. Dale chokeslams Jinn through 2 chairs and sets up a table. Jinn hits him with a trash can then gets hit back and goes on the table. Dale then swantons him off the top through the table for 2. Jinn hits a lariat and and a uranage for 2. Jinn drives Dale into a door which won't break then cannonball's it and it still won't break. Dale comes back with a piledriver on the chair and wins it.
The finish was a bit sudden and they kind of gave up on selling near the end. It was still enjoyable though with Dale being a jerk and Jinn being the fighting spirit fat guy.
Tank vs Brandon Kirk
Kirk comes in with a walker with light tubes on it to mock Tank's age. He's with his girl as usual and Tank is with The Rev, who is a Rob Zombie looking guy with a robe and a skull on a stick. Rev does intro's, insulting the Kirk's, and gets hit with a tube.
Tank hits Kirk with firecracker bats and hits him in the crotch with it. Tank throws a chair at him then puts a gusset plate in Kirk's head and arm. Kirk hits him with a stack of tubes then hits him with the light tube walker. Kirk breaks some tubes over Tank's head then Tank gives him one back.
Tank ddt's him on tubes and a table is set up. Tank gets Brandon and his girl Kasey on his shoulders and samoan drops them through the table for 2. Kasey low blows Tank then Rev hits Kasey in the back with tubes. Tank then hits a saito suplex and beats Kirk for the win.
This was short and timed just about right. Kirk got his digs in on Tank and Tank got his revenge. I thought it should have ended at the table spot but Rev hitting Kasey with the tubes was cool.
Tommy Vendetta vs Bobby Beverly
They hit each other with tubes to start then trade punches. BB then lariats him and breaks a tube over his back. Tommy gets a tube put under his shirt and then stepped on. Bobby headbutts tubes on Tommy then knees one in under his shirt. Tommy throws a stack of tubes at him. Then he picks up a thing of tubes and Bobby body blocks him to break it.
The tube shots continue on the outside and Tommy hits himself with them. Bobby then stabs him with one. Tommy headbutts a tube on his head and they hit each other with trash can lids. Bobby is backdropped on the apron then he doesit to Tommy. They sit down in chairs and punch each other then trade tube shots in the ring. Tommy then takes a japanese armdrag through a door for 2.
Tommy then hits a cradle shock through tubes for 2 and gets brainbustered through a chair for 2. Tommy no sells a saito suplex then gets another. Tommy superkicks some tubes into his face and wins it with a backdrop driver.
It went a little longer than it needed to and I didn't like them hitting themselves with tube shots. I did like the tube shots and the blood though. They also do have to work on their punches.
Krule vs SHLAK
Shlak pushes the announcer away and goes for Krule. Krule fallaways slams him twice and Shlak backdrops him. Krule then comes back with a facekick. Shlak stops a dive and like ddt's him onto a chair outside from the ring. they trade punches in the crowd and Shlak hits him with a beer. Shlak nails him with tubes then Krule nails him with a stack of tubes.
Shlak then hits him with more tubes and is thrown into the seats. Shlak gets charged into and breaks a chair as he does so, then Krule ends up into a stack of chairs on the side. Shlak then throws moe chairs at him and tries to stab him with a chair piece.
Krule is buried in the chairs and comes out of it like a zombie. Shlak then suplexes him through a table. Shlak throws some tubes at Krule then polish hammers them into him. He then starts chewing on him.
Krule is put between two chairs and Shlak climbs the platform. He then top rope legdrops tubes on Krule's neck and tries to put a plastic bag over his head. Krule then suplexes him over the back of a chair and quickly wins it.
Shlak gets up after and breaks a door, then they slam door pieces on each other then both fall over.
The match was fun but the finish was really out of nowhere even though it was a cool spot. It really could have used some build up and I don't think Krule got enough offense in before grabbing the win. It was a wild one though and a spectacle and I'd like to see it again. Krule was bleeding really bad here.
No Ring Mats - John Wayne Murdoch vs Eric Ryan
Joel Bateman is spotted watching then JW attacks Eric from behind. He nails him with a stack of tubes then throws him into tubes in a can. They go into the ring then Eric is thrown against the tubes on the ropes. JW cuts his head with a knife then breaks another stack of tubes over his back. Reed then russian legsweeps him through a tubes stack. JW then throws him into the tubes on the ropes again.
JW does the stupid spot where he breaks tubes over his own head and his opponent's head. Eric then shotgun dropkicks tubes into JW and sends him through the door in the corner. JW brainbusters him onto tubes. Eric is then thrown face first into tubes.
Eric comes back with a knee into tubes on JW then they trade punches. JW headbutts tubes into Eric's gut. Eric ties JW's leg in the ropes and stomps his head multiple times. The ref then stops it in a super lame ending. The ending wasn't good here and Eric took way too much abuse to win the way he did.
Eric challenges Joel Bateman, who is at ringside to put his title on the line right now as he wants his title back.
American Deathmatch Title - Joel Bateman vs Eric Ryan
Eric topes him before he is ready outside then shotgun dropkicks tubes into him. Eric then cannonballs tubes into him in the corner. Joel goes to the back and grabs skinny light tubes. He breaks a bunch over Eric's head and they make louder sounds and seem harder.
Eric suplexes him on the tubes then starts stomping on the back of his head and it's over via ref stoppage.
This had another lame ending and it was to prevent an issue with Joel being in Australia and being expensive to bring in or not being able to be brought in. This was one way to handle it but there were other ways to do it like just having him vacate or doing some trickery with masks or maybe filming another match here without the crowd or something else. They could have also just invented a title if they had planned it out more and then it would be something that could be defended overseas without interfering with the booking.
Overall thoughts: They did too many light tube shots and it hurt the rest of the show as they kind of got boring near the end. The two ref stop finishes at the end of the show sucked and people often remember the main most. This was not as good as the show the night before.
