El Phantasmo & Jado vs. Shoma Kato & YOSHI-HASHI

Kato calls Jado an old man pre-match. They lock up and Kato chops him on the break. Kato hits forearms. Jado shoulders him over. Jado forearms him in the spine. ELP chops Kato then back body drops him for 2. Kato hits forearms then misses a dropkick.

ELP misses an asai moonsault and is dropkicked. Yoshi shoulders ELP over then dropkicks him in the knee. Yoshi ddt's him for 2. Yoshi running headhunters him.

ELP is double teamed and takes a superkick and a big slam for 2.Kato takes kicks from both opponents and Jado lariats him for 2. Kato rolls up ELP for 2. ELP slides out of a backslide then hits a CR2 and wins.

Thoughts: It was short and note too much of note. Kato lost as expected. I liked the finish. 

ELP puts his title on Aaron Wolf ( a new judo gold medalist young lion) after. ELP then puts the title on a little girl.

TMDK (Hartley Jackson & Zack Sabre Jr.) vs. BULLET CLUB War Dogs (Drilla Moloney & Taiji Ishimori)

Zack wristlocks and takes him down. Zack sunset flips him and they try pin attempts. DM upkicks him and Zack rolls him into a pin attempt. DM dropkicks him. TI hits punches on Hart and slaps his nose. Hart casually shoulders him over. Hart slams and sentons him.

Zack bow and arrows TI. Hart suplexes TI. Zack does an octopus on TI and the Hart double axe handles TI. Hart misses a corner splash. DM hits forearms on Hart then drives him into the corner. DM hits a chop and forearm combo. Hart splashesh im then DM slams him.

Hart avoids a drilla killa and crossbodies DM. Zack twists DM's neck and hits euros. DM suplexes him. TI eye rakes Hart then hits a handspring corkscrew kick. TI shoulderbreakers Zack then rolls him up for 2. TI dropkicks him in the knee then Zack bridge pins him.

Thoughts: It was fine but not too much of note happened here. Once TI got in, he really never really got out. 

Zack and DM fight after.

Daiki Nagai & Shingo Takagi vs. House Of Torture (Ren Narita & Yoshinobu Kanemaru)

The heels attack before it starts. Shingo is beaten up in the crowd and taken up the stands. They fight in the aisle in the stands. Ren spits mist into Shingo's eyes.

Shingo is stomped on by YK and Ren in the ring. Shingo slams YK then he hits corner lariats on both. Shingo sends them into each other and hits a double clothesline.  YK takes a double shoulderblock.

Nagai takes a back body drop then is sent into the rails.  Shingo is sent into the post then Nagai is suplexed him for 2. Nagai's eyes are raked on the top rope. Ren then crabs Nagai.

Ren eye rakes him and Nagai dropkicks him. Nagai misses a dropkick on YK. YK misses a corner charge and is spinebustered. Nagai crabs YK and Ren breaks it up. YK backdrops him for 2. YK crabs Nagai and submits him.

Thoughts: It wasn't much. Shingo and Ren went into the stands at least and Nagai showed some fire before going down.

Shingo has whiskey spit in his eyes then Ren hits him with a push-up board.

Shota Umino & Tomoaki Honma vs. The Don Callis Family (Konosuke Takeshita & Rocky Romero)

RR hits chops on Honma then Honma shoulders him over. RR stomps and knee drops Honma. KT pounds on Honma. RR hits punches on Honma and corner lariats him. RR runs into his boot. Honma suplexes him.

Shota and KT go at it and shoulder battle. They trade forearms. Shota shoulders him over. KT running lariats Shota. Shota tornado ddt's him. Honma hits chops on KT in the corner. Honma bulldogs him.

Honma misses a falling headbutt. Honma shoulers over RR then KT is enznugiri'd by Shota. Honma falling headbutt drops KT for 2. KT facekicks H, Honma headbutts him then Honma jumps into a forearm. KT grounded chickenwings him and submits him.

Thoughts: It was short. Honma was entertaining here as the underdog and the little Shota got to do looked good. I would have liked to have seen more.

KT and Shota fight after. KT facekicks him on the rail then brainbusters him on the floor. 

G1 Climax 2025 Block A Match - Taichi vs. Callum Newman

The shake hands then trade forearms for head chops. They trade leg kicks and face kicks. Tai chest kicks him and knocks him down. CN tries to kip up but falls down. CN hits mounted forearms. CN charges at him and is hit with a headkick.

CN spits at him and is dropped with a forearm. Tai leg kicks him. Tai backdrops him for 2. CN forearms him in the gut. CN top rope double stomps him. CN fisherman busters him for 2. CN springboards and is hit with a forearm in the back. Tai running kicks him. Tai hits a burning lariat for 2.

CN poisonrana's him then running knees him in the gut. CN underhook suplexes him. CN hits another underhook suplex and wins.

Thoughts: It dragged a bit but I liked this one in general. They traded hard strikes and CN sold well here. I expected this to be a decent match and it was.

G1 Climax 2025 Block A Match - EVIL vs. Oleg Boltin

Dick Togo hits Oleg from behind with a weapon before he even gets in. The ref sees it and doesn't care. Fale and Togo then beat up Oleg in front of the ref and he doesn't care. The ref then starts the match with Oleg half of out if it and in Evil's sharpshooter.

Oleg is sent into the rails. Oleg is then sent into a table. Evil suplexes him in the ring for 2. Evil eye rkes him and sends him into the exposed buckle. Oleg no sells it and shoulders him over. Oleg slams Evil then is tripped by Fale. 

Evil takes Oleg into the crowd. Oleg double lariats Evil and Togo in the crowd while the ref watches. Oleg grabs Evil and carries Togo on his shoulder down the steps.

Oleg corner splashes Evil then slams him. Oleg 2nd rope vader bombsh im for 2. Evil lariats Oleg twice. Oleg belly to belly suplexes him then hits a cradle shock for 2. Evil hits forearms then Oleg F-5's him.

Oleg splashes the ref when Evil moves. Togo and Fale get involved again. Fale samoan spikes Oleg. Oleg is put on a table and Fale splashes him through it. Evil hits an STO and wins.

Thoughts: It was garbage before it even started with Oleg getting hit before the bell. There was tons of interference and weapons use and the ref didn't care at all. 

G1 Climax 2025 Block A Match - Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. SANADA

Tana wristlocks him. Tana side headlock takeovers him, is put in a headscissors and they stand off. Tana plays air guitar and eats a shining wizard for it. San misses a top rope moonsault then Tana slingblades him. Tana goes up top and San shoves the ref into the ropes, knocking Tana down.

San hits him with a guitar. San has to go grab the ref then Tana cradles him and pins him when he re-enters.

Thoughts: It was short. It should have been a full-length good match but we didn't get that here. I'd say it's disappointing but with Sanada's current run, it's not surprising.

G1 Climax 2025 Block A Match - Yuya Uemura vs. Ryohei Oiwa

Oiwa blocks his takedowns and they stand off. Yuya wristlocks him. Oiwa upkicks him. Oiwa shoulders him over  then he armdrags him. Yuya headscissors him then armdrags him. Oiwa then headscissors him. They try armdrags at the same time and Yuya gets on top with an armlock.

Oiwa back elbows him then Yuya armdrags him. Yuya takes him down by the arm. Yuya armdrags him. Oiwa does an abdominal stretch. Yuya then does one. Yuya armdrags him.  Oiwa headscissors him. Oiwa hits a nice dropkick. Yuya side headlock takeovers him. Oiwa side headlocks him. Oiwa shoulders him over then side headlocks him again. Yuya tries to backdrop him out of it but Oiwa holds on.

Yuya hits corner spears and chops him. Oiwa cravates him. Yuya armdrags him then Oiwa headscissors him. Oiwa goes back to the side headlock then Yuya 2nd rope twisting crossbodies him. Yuya armdrags him then dropkicks him. Yuya corner splashes him and bulldogs him for 2. Yuya keylocks him and Oiwa tries to roll out.

Yuya hammerlocks him. Yuya is then sent into the buckles. Oiwa lariats him then hits a doctor bomb for 2. Oiwa slams him. Oiwa nd rope splashes him for 2. Oiwa chinlocks him. Yuya backdrops him.

Yuya double chops him then dropkicks him. Yuya enzugiri's him. Oiwa hits a chaos theory for 2. Yuya counters a spinning lariat with an armdrag. Yuya armbars him. Yuya tries a hurricanrana but is powerbombed for 2.

Yuya goes for his deadbolt and Oiwa lariats him. Yuya flips Oiwa into deadbolt and wins.

Thoughts: It was one of the best matches of the tournament. They did lots of technical wrestling and the basics with armdrags and dropkicks. I've felt for a long time that Yuya and Oiwa are getting the raw end of the deal in NJPW and this proved it. They need to run this one back again and again because this is the match between the youger NJPW wrestlers and I think it'll be just as good next time around. I really liked this and wish we got more of this over the other crap in the tournament.

G1 Climax 2025 Block A Match - David Finlay vs. Yota Tsuji 

DF hits a forearm early and Yota side headlocks him. Yota shoulders him over. They trade forearms. Yota chops him. DF eye rakes him then Yota tilt-a-whirl backbreakers him.  Yota goes for a tope and is hit with a forearm. DF stomps on Yota outside.

DF hits mounted shots. DF camel clutches him. DF sunset flips him then Yota flatliners him. Yota sweeps him on the apron and baseball slides him down. Yota topes DF. Yota corner splashes him then DF suplexes him into the buckles.

DF suplex throws him. DF his crossface shots. Yota flatliners and curb stomps DF. Yota then falcon arows him for 2. 
They forearm each other. Yota pumping knees him then DF lariats him for 2. Yota superkicks him then hits a big spear for 2. DF flips him off and Yota boots him in the face. Yota tries a marlow crash and is powerbombed down. DF then powerbombs him again. Yota powerbombs him then buckle bombs him.

DF buckle bombs him. Yota no sells it, runs at him and is cradled. DF cutters him. DF hits a nasty oblivion for 2. DF kind of hits his own marlow crash for 2. Yota runs at him and DF knees him in the face. DF hits overkill and wins.

Thoughts: They came up with some nice spots near the end.  But they no sold them and moved onto the next thing before anyone could really react. The match showed that they have some potential between them when they go 1v1 and I do think DF is slowly improving, but this could have been really good if it slowed down and they got more time. I still liked it overall, but they had a chance to do something better here.

DF talks on the mic after. He says Yota always pushes him to his limit but he was the better man today. DF says we are witnessing the greatest G1 in history. Gedo then translates. 

Overall thoughts: The undercard was a waste of time as usual though I did like Honma'a match. Tai/Newman, Yuya/Oiwa and the main were fine. Yuya/Oiwa was the match of the night and one of the better matches of the tournament. It was just pure wrestling and I think it shows how undervalued these two are in NJPW. Oleg/Evil had all the usual HoT crap and Tanahashi/Sanada only got a few minutes so it wasn't much. I'd give it a 6 out of 10 mostly due to the G1 matches delivering. I'd say it was good overall. Oiwa/Yuya might be worth seeing.
