Daiki Nagai & Shingo Takagi vs. BULLET CLUB War Dogs (Drilla Moloney & Taiji Ishimori)

Shingo and DM go at it. DM backs him up on the ropes and they duck chops. They shoulder battle and trade forearms. Shingo corner lariats him. DM hits a chop and punch combo. DM dropkicks him and is shouldered over. DM takes a double shoulderblock. Nagai tries a jack knife pin on DM.

DM backdrops Nagai. DM stomps on him. TI boots Nagai in the corner then chops him. DM suplexes Nagai for 2. TI pounds on Nagai then eye rakes him. Nagai dropkicks him. TI takes corner attacks then a spinebuster from Nagai. DM breaks up a crab.

Shingo blocks MD's spear. DM superkicks him then Shingo lariats him. Nagai cradles TI then rolls him up for 2. TI jumping knees him for 2. TI does a la mistica into a border city stretch on Nagai. Nagai taps out.

Thoughts: Nagai got beaten up on as expected here. We got some of Shingo vs Drilla to preview their match and we got lots of chops and forearms out of that. It was just average here and not too noteworthy. 

Shoma Kato & YOSHI-HASHI vs. TMDK (Hartley Jackson & Zack Sabre Jr.)

Kato and Hart push each other pre-match. Kato dropkicks him and knocks Zack off the apron. Hart blocks Kato's slam. Hart then slams him. Hart shoulders over Yoshi. Zack gets in and kicks Kato in the back. Zack half-crabs Kato and really pulls on the leg. Yoshi breaks it up.

Zack euros Yoshi over. Hart and Kato trade chops. Hart splashes him for 2. Zack stomps on Kato and boots him around. Kato misses a dropkick then he slams Zack. Yoshi hits forearms then neckbreakers Zack. Yoshi ddt's Zack for 2.

Zack twists Yoshi's neck with his feet. Zack hits euros on Yoshi and facekicks him. Zack pele kicks the leg then Yoshi lariats him.  Kato hits forearms on Hart. Kato flying forearms him. Kato hits a dropkick and fails to slam him. Hart is tripped into a leglock from Kato. Hart crossbodies Kato. Hart lariats Kato for 2. Hart sentons Kato for 2.

Hart is superkicked into a pin attempt for 2. Kato hits forearms on Hart then he runs into Hart's clothesline. Hart death valley drivers him and pins him.

Thoughts: It was mostly also Kato here. It was the usual stuff from these guys and nothing too great. I do kind of like the Hart vs Kato rivalry they got going on.

Yoshi and Zack fight outside as the young lions try to separate them.

Katsuya Murashima & Shota Umino vs. United Empire (Great-O-Khan & Jakob Austin Young)

Jake and Shota go at it. Jake clubs on him then chops him. Shota dropkicks him in the knee. Shota elbows Jake in the back of the head. KM hits forearms on Jake then slams him for 2. Jake leg lariats him. Khan sends Shota into the rails outside.

Jake foot chokes KM. Khan knees him in the gut then AA's him. Khan mongolian chops him then uppercuts him. Khan sits on his neck on the top rope. Khan mongolian chops him again for 2.

KM shoulders Khan over. Shota gets in and hits chops and forearms on Khan. Shota then does the same to Jake then goes back to doing it to Khan. Shota facekicks Khan then shoulders him over. Shota corner euros him and fisherman suplexes him.

Khan takes corner attacks then is dropkicked in the knee. KM powerslams Khan for 2. Khan pump kicks KM. Shota enzugiri's Khan then Khan lariats him. Khan TTD's KM then does a grounded head and armhold and submits him.

Thoughts: As usual, Murashima was entertaining and was a likeable underdog. Khan was happy to be the heel against him. The match was fine for being an undercard throwaway bout.

House Of Torture (Ren Narita & Yoshinobu Kanemaru) vs. The Don Callis Family (Konosuke Takeshita & Rocky Romero)

RR and KT pose on the ropes before the match and get hit. KT is sent into the rails outside then RR flying headscissors KM. RR hits forearms on YK then YK facekicks him. RR drops him with a shot. Ren trips RR and sends him into the rails. KT's head is banged off the post. Ren then sends KT into seats.

YK knee drops RR's knee. RR then has his legs split. YK beats up on RR. YK kneebreakers him then RR cradles him. RR rewind kicks YK then YK enzugiri's him. RR running lariats him. KT comes in and facekicks Ren.

KT flying lariats Ren. Ren exploders KT. KT then exploders and lariats him. RR corner lariats Ren then Ren chokes him. RR tornado ddt's him for 2.  Ren rolls up RR then leglocks him. KT forarms Ren then misses a plancha outside. Ren cradles RR. RR flying knees Ren. RR misses a slicred bead and is hit in the knee with the whiskey bottle. Ren then submits RR with a leglock.

Thoughts: The KT vs Ren sections were good and made me want to see that. I swear we've seen the whiskey bottle to the knee spot like 3 times already in this tournament. I don't think it's that great of a spot that needs repeated again and again. It wasn't that bad for a HoT match.

KT runs up the ramp and fights HoT. HoT gets the advantage and hits him in the gut with a push up bar.

G1 Climax 2025 Block A Match - Taichi vs. Oleg Boltin

Oleg and Tai lock up. Oleg forearms him and is facekicked. Oleg shoulders him over. Tai facekicks him over. They sumo wrestle and Tai throws him. Oleg belly to belly suplexes him. Oleg hits karelin's lift on Tai.

Oleg tilt-a-whirl backbreakers him. Oleg waistlocks Tai and Tai ropebreaks. Oleg clubs on Tai. Tai hits strikes then Oleg knees him in the gut. Oleg slams him and Tai facekicks him. Tai gamengiri's him. Oleg corner spalshes Tai. Tai backdrops him. Oleg and Tai lariat each other. Tai running lariats him for 2.

Oleg dropkicks him. Oleg finlay rolls him. Tai then superkicks him. Tai urakens him then drops him with a forearm. Tai buzzsaw kicks him for 2. Oleg F-5's Tai. Tai gets a 2 count on Oleg, eye pokes and jawbreakers him. Tai then gets a 2 count. Oleg powerbombs him for 2. He then rolls and picks him up with a kamikaze/finlay roll. Oleg then wins.

Thoughts: I didn't like Tai doing power stuff with Oleg. He's a small guy and not on that level. It was competitive and I thought Tai did a good job as the underdog here. I thought it was good bout and I liked it.

G1 Climax 2025 Block A Match - SANADA vs. Ryohei Oiwa

They lock up. Oiwa ties the leg up. San headscissors him and they stand off. Oiwa side headlocks him then shoulders him over. Oiwa slams him then dropkicks him. Oiwa side headlock takeovers him.

Oiwa hiptosses and side headlock takeovers him. San does a top wristlock. Oiwa side headlocks him. Oiwa side headlock takeovers him using the buckles. San side headlock takeovers him but Oiwa rolls him and is in control.

Oiwa cravates him. San flips out and dropkicks him in the knee. San pulls him over the top. San jumps outside and Oiwa side headlocks him there. San is sent into the post. Oiwa is backdropped on the apron.

San magic screws Oiwa on the floor. San magic screws him in the ring. Oiwa suplexes him then splashes him for 2. Oiwa misses a top rope splash. San top rope moonsaults but Oiwa gets his knees up. San asai moonsaults and goes for skull end. Oiwa gets out and sleepers him. Oiwa germans him for 2. San shining wizards him from behind. San hits a normal shining wizard. Oiwa backrolls him. San pushes Oiwa into the ref then low blows Oiwa in front of the ref.

San misses a guitar show. Oiwa sleepers him. San kicks the ref over and low blows Oiwa. San pretends to get hit by the guitar and the ref fights Oiwa for it. San pushes Oiwa into the ref then hits Oiwa with the guitar. San then wins.

Thoughts: They were doing okay with the wrestling and then we just had to have the shenanigans which didn't add much here. I would have liked to have seen what this looked like with a clean finish.

G1 Climax 2025 Block A Match - Yota Tsuji vs. Callum Newman

CN takes Yota's hat pre-match and puts it on. He then shoves it in Yota's face.

CN running kicks him and knees him in the face. CN hits a forearm flurry in the corner. CN tries to plancha Yota but is hit. Yota suplexes him on the floor and sends him into the rails. They fight in the crowd and Yota kicks him over in a chair.

CN gets in and takes a baseball slide. He then goes right back out. Yota hits boots to the face in the corner then stands on him. Yota flatliners him for 2.

Yota chinlocks him. Yota hits forearms then CN drops him with a forearm. CN corner facekicks him then PK's him for 2. CN suplexes him for 2.

They trade forearms. CN tries an os cutter but is superkicked. Yota gordbusters him, drives his face into the mat, hits a falcon arrow and curbstomps him. Yota goes for the spear but is double stomped.
Yota is hit with a standing spanish fly for 2. CN stomps his neck. CN pumping knees Yota then buzzsaw kicks him. CN kicks him in the chest. CN top rope double stomps him for 2.

Yota hits a big spear for 2. Yota pumping knees him in the corner and hits the marlow crash. Yota runs at him and CN falls over. Yota curb stomps him. then hits a fireman's carry sitout drop and wins.

Thoughts: The action was good here. It only went 11 minutes but felt a lot longer for some reason. Yota's curbstomp near the end looked brutal and they each hit each other hard. I thought it was fine.

G1 Climax 2025 Block A Match - Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. EVIL

Tana wristlocks him and Evil reverses it. Evil then clean breaks. Evil side headlocks him. Evil side headlock takeovers him then they stand off. Tana back elbows him out of the corner and hits a 2nd rope twisting crossbody. Evil dragon screws Tana.

Evil boots the leg. Tana's knee is banged off the mat. Evil ties his legs up and falls back to put more pressure on. Evil chops Tana then suplexes him for 2. Tana hits forearms then flying forearms him. Tana slams him then 2nd rope swantons him for 2.

Evil leglocks him. Tana ropebreaks. Evil its a corner lariat then hits darkness falls for 2. Evil boots him in the knee then Tana dragon screws him. Evil lariats him for 2.

Evil sharpshooters him. Tana ropebreaks.  Evil running lariats Tana and they trade forearms. Tana uppercuts him then Tana hits a twist and shout. Tana slingblades him. Tana misses a top rope splash. Togo and Fale come out and slide in a chair for Evil. Tana grabs the chair. The ref takes it. Evil throws powder in Tana's eyes and throws Tana into the ref. Tana is triple stomped on by the heels. Tana is then chopped in the crotch. Fale samoan spikes Tana. Evil then hits everything is evil and wins.

Thoughts: The story of this was Evil promising not to cheat then doing it anyway. Tana got caught like a fool and lost. It was nice to see Tana mostly wrestle a clean match but it wasn't that great.

G1 Climax 2025 Block A Match - David Finlay vs. Yuya Uemura 

DF and Yuya lock up then try again. DF wristlocks him. Yuya reverses it. DF tries to roll out and Yuya rolls with him. Yuya armlocks him. Yuya hits an armdrag into an armlock. They go out and keep the armlock on. DF is sent into the rails then Yuya moves.

Yuya armdrags him into an armlock. Yuya is knocked off the apron into the rails. DF foot chokes him outside. DF elbows him in the face. Yuya is thrown into the buckles then DF bulldog chokes him.

Yuya hits forearms. Yuya 2nd rope twisting crossbodies him. Yuya armdrags and dropkicks him. Yuya backdrops him for 2. Yuya shoulder throws him then goes for the kimura. DF ropebreaks. 

DF lariats Yuya over the top and goes over with him. DF powerbombs him into the post. DF suplex throws him for 2. DF uranage backbreakers him for 2. DF tries to powerbomb him over the top but Yuya hurricanrana's him down.

Yuya top rope crossbodies him outside. Yuya kimura takeovers him then armbars him. DF ropebreaks. Yuya germans him for 2. DF backbreakers him. DF dominators him for 2. Yuya dragon screws him twice. Yuya armdrags him into an armbar. Yuya ties up both arms and pulls. Yuya then grabs a leg with it and DF ropebreaks.

Yuya double underhook suplexes him for 2. DF blocks deadbolt then hits a pop-up powerbomb. DF powerbombs him for 2. DF hits oblivion for 2. DF goes for overkill and Yuya cradles. Yuya dragon suplexes him. Yuya then hits a top rope frogsplash for 2.

DF hits some short lariats. They trade strikes. Yuya enzugiri's him. They headbutt each other. DF hits overkill twice and wins. 

Thoughts: Yuya mostly worked the arm here and did a good job doing it. I'm not sure about DF basically working as the heel in peril here though and winning in the end. But nobody loves Finlay as much as NJPW does and he often gets wins that aren't necessary. It was nice to see Yuya in a main event and getting a lot of time for a match for a change. I liked it overall but Yuya winning would have made this one better.

Finlay gets on the mic after. He says Yuya put up a good fight but says he will never get through him. He says better lucky next year. DF says this is the year he makes history and wins it all. Gedo then translates.

Overall thoughts: As usual, the undercard wasn't anything too grat though I like the Murashima match and the Ren Narita match wasn't that bad. Tai/Oleg was good. Sanada/Oiwa was going okay until we had the usual shenanigans. I liked Yota/Newman. Tana/Evil was average and the main was fine. I'd give it a 6 out of 10 as 3 of the G1 matches were good and helped this show.
