This aired on Christmas at 9PM.

We are at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC. Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness are on commentary.

JP side headlocks him and Kyle shoulders him over. JP misses a dropkick and they stare down. Kyle dropkicks him in the knee and ddt's the leg. KF stomps the leg. KF goes for a single leg crab and JP ropebreaks. KF twists JP's ankle.

JP buckshots over him then flying headscissors him over the top. JP's diving headscissors off the apron is caught and he is powerbombed on the apron. JP bites him then hits chops. JP sunset bombs him off the 2nd rope. KF half crabs him and puts his knee on JP's neck. KF stomps his chest and JP turns it into a snare trap. Kyle rope breaks.

They trade forearms. KF facekicks him. JP superkicks him. KF half-nelson suplexes him then leg lariats him on the ropes. KF goes for a last ride and takes a bad looking canadian destroyer. JP piledrivers him for 2. KF rolls him up for 2 then JP rolls him up for 2. JP runs into a big lariat. JP is up top and KF kicks the buckle under him. KF corner facekick him and brainbusters him for the win.

Thoughts: I didn't like it that much. KF did too much as usual with apron powerbombs and brainbusters on the ramp. KF took a nasty canadian destroyer variation. KF forgot all about the legwork he did in the 2nd half of this here. I thought it was a little long for an opener as well. Kyle now leads the Gold League.

Renee interviews Roderick Strong earlier in the day. She says someone want to speak with him. Kyle O'Reilly comes in. He says he wanted to be in this tournament. He asks why he sees doubt in Strong's eyes. He says the KOR that beat Mox wouldn't exist without Strong. KOR says it's Christmas and he wants a Christmas miracle. He says it'll be a miracle when he beates Claudio and sees the same man in the mirror he sees.

They trade shots. MD high kicks him then hits a canadian destroyer. KT running lariats him for 2. MD is swept back first on the top buckle. MD top rope corkscrew headscissors him down. MD misses a top rope ssp. KT hits a package tombstone. MD no sells it and rolls through for 2. MD running ssp's him for 2.

MD takes a top rope lariat off the top. KT pumping knees him. KT hits a raging fire and wins.

Thoughts: They did too much here and didn't sell much. MD did some nice flying though and they did work well together in general. It was an indy style match and not my thing. Had they cut about 1/3rd of the stuff they did I would have put this over.

AEW Continental Classic 2025 Blue League Match - Roderick Strong vs. Claudio Castagnoli

CC running euros him for 2 to start. RS jack knifes him for 2. RS hits chops and forearms. CC overhead dumps RS over the top. CC deadlift 2nd rope superplexes RS for 2. CC running lariats RS for 2. They go back in and RS olympic slams him. CC hits running corner euros on RS. RS hits shots out of the corner. RS jumping knees him once then does it again without the knee pad. RS then wins.

Thoughts: It was rushed for some reason and a quicker bout. I thought RS took a bit too much offense here before picking this up. I did like that there was some aggression and spirit in this though.

The Death Riders minus Mox and PAC beat up RS after. Mark Briscoe comes out with a stick and the heels get out.

Shafir gets on the apron. Toni Storm comes out, pulls her off the apron and punches her with a pearl necklace. Toni and Mark shake hands then Mark kisses the hand.

Stokeley Hathaway talks. He says FTR accepts the challenge for a Chicago Street Fight at World's End. Stoke asks how they can go to bed when they are begging all the time. Stoke says FTR will not be held liable for what they do.

Jamie Hayter and Kris Statlander talk over clips of themselves. Jamie says she wants to win her world title back.

AEW Continental Classic 2025 Gold League Match - PAC vs. Kevin Knight

Pac running lariats him for 2. Pac does a black arrow, KK gets his knees up and gets a 2 count. KK rolls him up for 2. KK backrolls him for 2. Pac does a brutalizer and we go to 20 time limit draw.

Thoughts: Similar to the first two matches here, I thought they did too much and didn't sell enough. The belly to belly into and over the buckles was pretty wild and could have stopped the match alone...but then it kept going. This was all flying and cool moves here but they just didn't know when to quit.

Gabe Kidd comes out through the crowd with a mic. He talks about sending Darby Allin down the steps. He says the people don't listen to him. He says Darby isn't indestructible and is now in the ICU unable to move. Gabe wonders how Darby will answer his challenge if he is unable to move.

The lights go out and Darby appears in the ring. Gabe laughs at him. Darby pulls a baseball bat out and swings it at Gabe. Gabe runs away. Darby says it's Gabe's world end on Saturday.

We get a video on Athena and Mercedes Mone.

Babes Of Wrath (Harley Cameron & Willow Nightingale) vs Hyan & Maya World

I swear they are only using Hyan and Maya to spite Dakota Kai and her partner. It's not like they impressed.

HC's team takes stereo boots to the gut. Willow lifts HC into a double boot on them on the apron. Willow then cannonballs her opponents off the apron outside.

We go to PiP break, full break and return. Willow backsplashes Hy in the corner and running facekicks her. Willow spinebusters Hy for 2. Maya elbow drops Hy on accident. It's announced that Hyan and Maya will face Skye and Hart at World's End on the pre-show.

Maya spinning forearms Willow into a pin attempt from Hy. Willow double suplexes her opponents. Maya takes chops and a backbreaker. HC gets on Willow's back and they senton Maya together for 2. Willow pounces Hy. HC high kicks Maya. Maya takes a soul foot into a lightning spiral and is pinned.

Thoughts
: It was all squash here as expected but it went a bit longer than I thought. It was just a match for the most part and nothing too impressive.

Willow and Harley get on the mic after. Willow says they want to tell them a Christmas story. They say two girls bought a ticket here and saw all the local landmarks including Eddie Kingston's mother's house. Harley says they saw Santa and asked what Santa wants for Christmas. Willow says Santa wanted everyone to live in peace and harmony except for Mone and Athena when they beat them up at World's End. Harley says this one is for Santa. Harley says they will still be women's tag champs when the world ends.

Mox goes for another choke. OC armdrags him and half-crabs him. OC tilt-a-whirl ddt's him. OC orange punches him 4 times. OC beachbreaks him. OC goes for a half-crab and Mox rolls him up to win.

Thoughts:
I didn't like this. OC's a joke and was going toe to toe with Mox, who is basically AEW's resident tough guy. It's a big tournament match and OC was also doing stuff with his hands in his pockets here. I didn't think they respected Mox enough and like usual, OC was treated like the world's greatest wrestler despite being a comedy guy.

AEW Continental Classic 2025 Gold League Match - Kazuchika Okada vs. Mike Bailey

The winner of this will be tied for the lead.

They lock up and KO backs him up on the ropes. They trade pin attempts. KO offers a handshake then kicks him in the gut. MB tilt-a-whirls and cradles him. MB dropkicks him out. MB pump kicks KO off the apron and triangle moonsaults him outside.

They trade shots and KO drops him with a euro. MB hits chest kicks. KO dropkicks MB. MB hurricanrana's him for 2. MB PK's him then misses a standing moonsault double knee drop. KO slides out and Mike corkscrew moonsaults him off the top.

They go on the buckles. MB is forearmed on the 2nd rope, falls and hits his head hard on the mat. MB gets back up and hits headbutts. MB top rope hurricanrana's him. MB hits a top rope ultimate weapon on KO but KO rolls out.

MB hits mounted forearms outside. They go back in. KO hits a rainmaker. MB superkicks him and spin kicks him in the head. MB 2nd rope ultimate weapon's him for 2. MB rolls him up for 2. KO back body drops him and pins him.

Thoughts: Mike hit his head hard here from the 2nd rope. Mike did his flying as usual and Okada did his usual offense. It had a lot of action and wasn't boring but wasn't the greatest logically. I was alright with this one as they didn't go too far with it.

Don Callis gets in the ring with Okada. Konosuke Takeshita then comes out. KT and Okada stare down and hold their titles up at each other. They will meet at World's End.

Overall thoughts: It was a super heavy wrestling show here with very few non-wrestling segments despite this being 2.5 hours long. Everyone mostly went all out for their matches and put a good effort in, but most of the matches were indy style bouts and not the type of wrestling I enjoy. I don't think this was a super effective go home show before the PPV though. I'd give this a 6 out of 10 even though I didn't love the matches. They clearly tried when they didn't have to. It was an easy to watch show and I breezed through it.
