Stardom 8/7/2022 5*Star Grand Prix Day 4

Stardom 8/7/2022 5*Star Grand Prix Day 4

I just saw the GP matches:

5*Star Grand Prix - Blue Stars - Mina Shirakawa vs Saya Iida

Saya runs her over with a shoulder to start then does it again. They trade forearms then Mina reverse ddt's her. Mina hits kicks to the body then Iida comes back with chops. Iida hits a chop flurry then does a jumping double sledhe hammer to her chest. Iida then elbow drops her for 2. Iida spinebusters her then top rope shoulders her.

Mina spinning forearms her then koppo kicks her. Mina then does a high elevated reverse ddt and wins it.

This was super short and it was decent for what it was, but the time wasn't there to do a real match.

5*Star Grand Prix - Blue Stars - Hana vs Saya Kamitani

They don't do too much early until Saya cartwheels and backflips into a dropkick. Saya indian deathlocks her then dropkicks her between the ropes. They trade forearms then Hanan twisting crossbodies her out of the corner. Saya slams her then Hanan northern lights suplexes her. Hanan hits some forearms then Saya hits a nice dropkick. Hanan hits a fallaway slam type of move then a dominator.

Hanan ties her leg up for a pin. Hanan then running rocker drops her then Saya northern lights suplexes her and pump kicks her. Saya hits a nice jumping spin kick. Hanan rolls her up for 2 then Saya spinning heel kicks her. Saya then sitout fisherman busters her to win it.

This was really short. They did the best they could I guess, but the time wasn't there.

5*Star Grand Prix - Red Stars - AZM vs Mai Sakurai

AZM is attacked with forearms during intros then they trade forearms. AZM shotgun dropkicks her and they trade more forearms. Mai shotgun dropkicks her then stf's her. Mai facekicks her through the ropes then does some odd leg slice + reverse ddt move. Mai goes up top then AZM armdrags her. AZM fujiwara's her then suplexes her.

AZM tries to roll Mai into an armbar but is rolled up and rolls her up. AZM top rope footstomps her then germans her with the leg hooked for the win.

This was short and wasn't anything too special.

5*Star Grand Prix - Red Stars - Utami Hayashishita vs Sayaka Unagi

Utami lariats her early then slams her. Unagi comes back with a codebreaker then is basement dropkicked. Unagi stunners her over the top rope then axe kicks her over the middle rope. Unagi then twisting facebusters her for 2 and does a neat koji clutch variation on her, which she ropebreaks for.

Unagi forearms her then takes a dropkick back. Utami sideslams her then takes a stun gun over the top rope. Unagi forearms Utami in the corner then puts her on the 2nd rope and codebreakers her. Unagi does a neck hold while Utami is in the gori special then Unagi chinlocks her.

Unagi facewash kicks her through the ropes and is samoan dropped after some reversals. Utami schwein's her for 2. then Unagi hits some weird drop and a blade runner for 2. Utami release germans her then Uangi facekicks her. Utami lariats her over for 2 then does a fireman's carry spinning sitout drop and wins it.

This was all high impact action from the start and there may have been some work the neck type of story here but these are short matches and it's such a general thing that it can be hard to tell. I wouldn't call it great, but these two really did take a whooping.

5*Star Grand Prix - Red Stars - Himeka vs Koguma

Kog does her taunt at Himeka to the crowd's applause rhythm then Himeka does it with her. She then lariats her for 2 and boston crabs her. Kog back rolls into a pin attempt then Himeka shoulders her over. Kog hits a corner splash into a running bulldog then tramples on her back.

Kog top rope dropkicks her then Himeka comes back with a samoan drop. They trade chest forearms and attack each other on the ropes. Himeka short-arm lariats her then hits a sliding lariat for 2. Himeka single leg crabs her then does a reverse fireman's carry sitout slam for 2. Kog is immediately back up with a release german then Himeka lariats her over. Himeka powerbombs her then Kog rolls her over for 2. Himeka running lariats her for another 2 then running powerbombs her for the win.

There was no selling whatsoever here along with tons of stupid kickouts. This was not good at all.

5*Star Grand Prix - Blue Stars - Natsupoi vs Ami Sorei

They go face to face and Poi pushes her. Ami whips her around by the head and Poi evades an attack on the buckles. Poi tries to cartwheel into an armdrag but is reversed and armdragged. Poi then dropkicks her and bites her arm in the camel clutch position. Poi then wraps her legs around Ami's arms and pulls back in a new move. Poi wraps her arm around the ropes and pulls then dropkicks the arm.

Ami splashes her against the ropes then Poi spin kicks her in the gut. Ami then runs her over with a shoulder and slams her. Ami splashes Poi in the corner then Poi christo's her. Poi dropkicks her through the ropes and tries a top rope crossbody but is caught. Ami slams her off the catch then does a high crab.

Ami torture racks her and slams her down then Poi superkicks her. Poi then germans her for 2 then twisting neckbreakers her. Poi misses a corkscrew splash from the top then Ami lariats her. Ami then running lariats her and hits a big release blue thunder bomb for 2. Ami lariats her then Poi jumps off of her knee and rolls her up to win it.

Not a classic or anything, but like a lot of matches in this tournament, it was fast paced, stiff and aggressive.

Overall thoughts: Most of the matches were kind of rushed and short but none of them really dragged and there's something to be said for that. Not a bad night of wrestling here.
