New Japan Pro Wrestling 8/14/2022 G1 Climax 32 Day 17

I just reviewed the G1 matches hereL

Yoshi shoulders him over then back elbows him. They trade chops then DF single arm ddt's him. DF planchas him on the outside then DF stomp flurries him. Yoshi dropkicks him in the knee and running blockbusters him. Yoshi neckbreakers him and they trade forearms. Yoshi takes a backslide then multiple uranage backbreakers. Yoshi dropkicks him and goes for a suplex but is caught with a DF cutter.

DF blue thunders him for 2 then Yoshi superkicks him. DF rebounds off the ropes and lariats him. Yoshi then rolls him up to win.

There really wasn't too much to this before the sudden ending.

Taichi wants to do sumo and Khan just lays down on the mat. They eventually do sumo and Taichi throws him down. They hit strikes on each other and Taichi running sto's him. Taichi runs at him and takes a shoulder throw, then Khan sheepkillers him. Taichi rolls him up then is suplexed for the win.

This was a waste of time.

G1 Climax 2022 Block C Match - Tom Lawlor vs Jeff Cobb

Tom does his usual routine with taking off his shorts. Tom armbreakers him and kicks him then is tossed with a fallaway slam. Tom sits on his back with a choke then both end up rolling onto the floor. Tom hooks him with a triangle from the apron but is slammed onto it.

They go back in and Jeff stands on his back then short arm lariats him. Jeff deadlifts him into a belly to belly. Tom single arm tornado ddt's him off the ropes then goes for ankle lock but is kicked off. Tom catches Jeff with a uranage as he runs at him. Tom hits some running moves in the corner and goes for a choke but is sat on the top rope. Tom goes for another choke but Cobb deadlift suplexes him.

They trade forearms on their knees and Tom enzugiri's him. Tom spinning heel kicks him. Tom gets superkicked then slaps him down. Tom runs at Jeff and is rolled up into germans. Tom falls back on him and grabs a kimura and hits a v-trigger for 2. Tom hooks him and does a suplex then knees him in the back of the head for the win.

Tom got too much offense in here and he had too much of an easy time doing what he wanted to Cobb.

G1 Climax 2022 Block C Match - Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. KENTA

Kenta grabs a chair, brings it in and throws it over to Tana. Tana plays air guitar with it. Tana side headlocks him then 2nd rope twisting crossbodies him. Kenta drops his throat over the top rope then is pushed into the rails hard. Tana is facekicked off the apron then thrown into the rails. Kenta then ddt's him on the floor. Kenta hits chest kicks. Tana is thrown into the rails again and hits the wires to one of the lights, knocking it off.

Kenta double stomps him in the ring and beats up on him. Kenta works the body scissors on him. Tana blocks a running facekick then dragon screws him. Tana hits some forearms then does a flipping senton off the 2nd rope for 2. They trade shots and Kenta powerslams him. Kenta ddt's him over the top rope then top rope lariats him.

They trade forearms and Tana slaps the ref on accident. Kenta ddt's him then hits Tana with a crutch. Tana gets ddt'd on the floor then is ddt'd over the 2nd rope in the ring. Kenta dropkicks him in the corner then top rope double stomps him. Kenta hits him with a table then Tana twists and shouts him off a go to sleep attempt.

Tana comes back with sling blades for 2 then Tana top rope crossbodies him. Tana goes for a top rope frogsplash but Kenta gets his knees up. Kenta hits a busaiku knee for 2 and Tana rolls him up out of a go to sleep attempt. Kenta hits a bunch of slaps and drops him. Kenta then wins it with a go to sleep.

This really dragged and had the standards weapons use and ref bumps which didn't add anything. Kenta spent a decent portion of this working the ribs which didn't really go anywhere. The crowd wasn't allowed to cheer and for a long match like this, it really hurt it.

Overall thoughts: Pretty much a joke minus the main. It was all short matches that weren't going to be that great and the guys didn't put a ton of effort into them.
