New Japan Pro Wrestling 8/13/2022 G1 Climax 32 Day 16
I just saw the G1 matches:
G1 Climax 32 Block C Match - Aaron Henare vs KENTA
The throw kicks at each other early and Kenta rolls out. Kenta hits some stiff punches and forearms to the head then Henare springboard twisting kicks him. Henare goes to kick him outside but hits the post then has his arm and leg kicked at. Kenta stomps on him and beats him down. Kenta runs the ropes and gets kicked in the chest. Henare kicks him in the back then step up knees him in the corner.
Henare running samoan drops him then 2nd rope sentons him. Kenta hits a ddt and hits some back kicks. Kenta flying kicks him and flying dropkicks him in the corner. Kenta then top rope double stomps him for 2. Henare catches him with a berzerker bomb. Henare then full nelsons Kenta and Kenta hooks the ref with his legs to block it. Kenta rolls him up for 2 and powerslams him. They trade forearms and Kenta hits some slaps. Henare then drops him with a spin kick.
Kenta grabs the nose to get out of a move then triangles him. Henare lifts him up and powerbombs him then Kenta crossfaces him and wins it.
I thought Kenta got too much in and bullied around Henare too much. I also would have liked a match with more striking since that's what both of these guys do. It was fine, but it could have been better.
G1 Climax 32 Block A Match - Jeff Cobb vs Toru Yano
Yano doesn't show up for his entrance and the ref starts to count him out. Yano eventually comes in from behind and rolls up Cobb for 2. Toru sprays him in the eye with disinfectant and should be dq'd for it but isn't. Cobb whips Yano into the rails then Yano puts Cobbs hands in his tights and wraps him up with a ringskirt. Cobb barely beats the count out then Yano does his own surfing taunt on his back. Cobb then dropkicks him with his arms in his singlet.
Yano goes into the exposed buckle and takes a belly to belly. Yano tries to grab the ref to low blow Cobb but fails. Yano gets his shirt put over his head, then he takes a tour of the islands spinning slam and Cobb wins.
This was all comedy and Yano should have been DQ'd for the disinfectant spray.
G1 Climax 32 Block D Match - Yujiro Takahashi vs Shingo Takagi
Shingo fights off a face kick to start and Shingo runs him over. Shingo supleces him for 2 and runs his back into the apron. Yujiro then goes into the rails. Shingo sengs Yujiro into the post and bangs his head off the apron. Yujiro hits Shingo with a chair in front of the ref then he trips him into the rails. Yujiro then reverse ddt's him on the floor.
They get back in the ring and Yujiro baseball slides him. Yujiro facekicks him in the corner then does elbows/legdrops/headbutts. Shingo hits some punches and chops then Yujiro bites the hand. Shingo bites his hand back and lariats him after a punch. Shingo slams him and sentons him then hits a snap suplex for 2. Sho comes down with a wrench and threatens Shingo then Sho grabs his leg. Yujiro hits an olympic slam then Shingo hits some headbutts. Shingo hits a forearm combo and takes a facekick.
Sho hits Shingo in the back with a chair then Yujiro ddt's him for 2. Shingo ddt's him then sliding forearms him. Shingo backs his own head off the buckle and lariat him over. Shingo then hits an ugly made in Japan for 2. Shingo ends up going over the top and thrown into the rails twice. Yujiro fisherman busters him on the floor then Shingo death valley drivers him on the floor. Sho throws Yujiro in so he beats the countout count. Yujirp ushes Shingo in the ref, right in front of the ref then reverse ddt's him. Yujiro chairs him then Shingo slaps the chair in his face. Shingo lariats him and hits a last of the dragon and wins it.
It didn't look like it would be good and it wasn't. Lots of interference, blatant cheating and other House of Torture crap here.
G1 Climax 32 Block D Match - YOSHI-HASHI vs Will Osperay
Will does a dirty break early. Yoshi shoulders him and Will kips up and slaps him. Yoshi neckbreakers him and hits a big chop early. Will drops him throat first over the top then running facekicks him. Will then whips Yoshi hard into the buckles and kneedrops his arm over the apron. Will pulls him into the post then armbreakers him.
Will stretches both arms behind Yoshi's back. Yoshi then suplexes him into a neckbreaker. Yoshi then running blockbusters him, hangs him over the top and dropkicks him. Yoshi basement dropkicks him for 2. Yoshi whips him into the ropes then Will handsprings and back enzugiri's him. Will then plancha's him outside.
Will springboard forearms him and step up enzugiri's him. Will goes up top and gets caught but drops Yoshi down and top rope forearms him in the neck. WIll then falcon arrows him for 2. Yoshi blocks Will's os cutter then dragon suplexes him. Yoshi hits a superkick and they trade forearms. They chop each other as they hold each others arms then Will high kicks him. Will takes a made in Japan for 2.
Yoshi flips Will with a lariat. Will flips out of a made in Japan with a cutter then hits an os cutter for 2. Will gets his os cutter countered with a superkick then Yoshi canadian destroyers him..of course, only for 2. Will hook kicks him and powersbombs him, but Yoshi no sells it and suplexes him. Will standing spanish flies him then hits a stiff forearm to the back of the head. Will then hits a hidden blade to the back of the head and wins it.
G1 Climax 32 Block B Match - Taichi vs Jay White
They goof around early and Jay pretends to do sumo with him then grabs him and starts pounding away. Gedo grabs Taichi's leg and Jay gets some shots in. Taichi tries to choke him then Gedo. Jay chokes him with a camera cable in front of the ref then chokes him with the ring skirt in front of the ref.
They trade leg kicks. Taichi hits a jumping kick then kicks him in the chest as he is on his knees. Taichi sidekicks him. Taichi hits another legkick then Jay running death valley drivers him. Jay twisting brainbusters him then flatliners him. Jay germans him then uranages him for 2. Jay hits a euro then takes a gamengiri. Gedo grabs Taichi's girl Miho Abe outside by the hair and Jay backdrops Taichi. Jay mocks Taichi and Taichi forearms Jay down. Taichi chases Gedo into the ring with Kanemaru's help. Taichi then lariats over Jay and Gedo. Taichi hits a last ride on Jay for 2.
Jay dragon suplexes Taichi, he no sells it then backdrops him. Taichi buzzsaw kicks him then Gedo gets on the ropes and crotched. Taichi forearms him for 2 then backdrops him. Jay then hits a blade runner and wins it with a 2nd blade runner.
This match had the usual screwing around from Jay and should have had a dq as well. The Miho thing was interesting, but it wasn't built up to or anything and they wasted what was an interesting sidestory.
Overall thoughts: Not a good night at the G1 with lots of interference and shenanigans and not enough good wrestling to cover it.
