AEW Dynamite 7/6/2022

TNT Title - Street Fight - Scorpio Sky (c) vs Wardlow
They both attack each other in the corner to begin with and Sky hits leg kicks. Wardlow then runs him over with a shoulder. Wardlow hits a big belly to belly then throws him. Dan Lambert takes a cheap shot at Wardlow outside then his MMA buddies stop Wardlow from attacking him. Sky then throws Wardlow int othe steps and American Top Team stomps on Wardlow.
We go to PiP break and return to both men fighting on the 2nd rope. Wardlow then top rope swantons him. Dan has his crew get involved adn Wardlow takes them down one by one and someone takes a hard bump to the floor. Wardlow then gorilla presses one of them onto everyone outside. Sky then hits Wardlow with the title for 2.
Dan gets on the apron and Sky is pushed into him. Wardlow then powerbombs him three times and wins it.
Dan Lambert's crew not just making this a 10v1 or whatever on Wardlow didn't make much sense. Wardlow winning was the right call though and this was acceptable otherwise.
Jon Moxley does a promo. He said people have bet against him and are waiting for him to be caught off guard so they can beat him. Mox says the think Brody King will surprise him tonight. He says maybe people forgot the king of monster he is, as he beat up Tanahashi then carved up people in Blood and Guts. Mox says he knows how big Brody King is and we will see if he has a big enough heart to go with it. He said step up or get stepped on.
Tony Nese and Mark Sterling want a signature from Keith Lee. He said they are trying to get Swerve Strickland removed from the roster and says he should sign it. Lee says they have issues but he is still his partner and they are still winning unlike him.
Christian and Luchasaurus come out. He was going to explain things then Matt Hardy came out. Matt says Christian is the Michael Jordan of being an @sshole. He said Christian screwed Jungle Boy over. Christian asked why he was pretending to care about JB. Christian said Matt is making his brother sound like the sober one. Matt says Christian is using Saurus to make as much money as he can. Matt said he has done the same thing to people on the roster but regrets it.
Christian calls Matt a clout chaser. Christian accuses Matt of riding Jeff's coat tails for one last run then says Matt just wanted to be near him. Christian then says Matt is the most embarassing person in his family then Matt takes a 2v1. Matt is thrown into the steps then Lucha kicks Matt's head into the post. Lucha then chokeslams Matt through a table.
Some of the people from Blood and Guts talk about it. Ortiz wants more. Menard is happy Jericho didn't tap. Parker says they won't stop until Eddie is in a grave.
Butch and Lee tie up and Lee throws him off the 2nd rope. Butch grabs a chair and Blade stops him. Swerve botches a leapfrog then backrolls into a trip on Blade. Blade is back bodydropped over the top by Swerve then Bunny blocks Swerve's apron kick. Swerve then is legswept on the apron by Blade.
We go to PiP break and return. Butcher and Swerve fight up top and Swerve bites his hand. Swerve 2nd rope euros him then Lee gets the hot tag in. Lee throws Blade at Butcher then Swerve rolls into a flatliner on Butcher. Butcher takes a combo enzugiri + spinning forearm then Lee accidentally pounces his own partner when Blade pulls him in.
Lee gets beat up 2v1 then Swerve running kicks Butcher. Lee splashes Blade's back in the corner then Blade takes a powerbomb + top rope double stomp combo for the Swerve/Lee win.
Nothing really wrong with it. They did play up the Lee/Swerve issues some.
Hobbs and Starks come out and yell to turn off the music. Hobbs said they are pissing him off and says they are disrespecting him. Hobbs calls them a trick @ss b!tch. Starks says they are not on their level and threatens to beat them up now. Starks was throwing a spazzy fit then the Young Bucks come out. They talked about star ratings and said Jurassic Expres beat Lee/Swerve, but they beat Jurassic Express. The Bucks then said they should do a 3 way next week with Swerve/Lee vs Starks/Hobbs vs The Young Bucks. They shot down the FTR chants when they were setting up the match in a dumb moment. I didn't really get this one. The Bucks aren't faces and shouldn't really care about facing either team.
We get a House of Black vignette. Black said Mox would experience things against King that go beyond physical pain.
Eddie Kingston comes out to talk with Tony Schiavone. Eddie congratulates Wardlow for winning the TNT title and everyone on his Blood and Guts team. Eddie aid he will get Jericho again and make him bleed. Jericho then interrupted on the tron and we see Tay Conti slamming Ruby Soho's hand with a car door. Jericho then threatens to do it to him. This would maybe work better if Ruby and Eddie had more of a real on-screen relationship.
The remaining members of the Dark Order come out. Uno says they have important news and says they are here tot stay. Uno says Dark Order is forever and they start a new chapter. They said they have a new proclamation and give -1 the mic. QT Marshall then interrupts. QT says -1 isn't as good as his father who is a legend in Rochester, NY. QT offers to fight -1 in a singles match. Adam Page then comes out and QT is beaten up. -1 says he will wait until he is in his teens to beat up QT. Not real sure what this was all about.
Penta Oscuro vs Rush
They trade chops and Penta superkicks him early. Penta uses the steps for an armdrag on Rush then Rush hits a hard forearm. Rush splashes him in the corner then Penta hits a slingblade. Penta tope con hilo's him then Alex and Jose fight outside.
We then go to PiP break and return with Rush tearing at the mask. Rush germans him then takes a backcracker. Rush powerslams him for 2 then Penta does an up and over backstabber. Penta stomps on Rush and they slap each other. Rush hits a jumping knee and they trade chops. Rush top rope dropkicks him for 2.
Rush top rope sentons him then Penta rolls into a cutter on him then hits a package piledriver. Andrade puts Rush's leg on the rope then Rush low blows Penta and takes off his mask to win.
I wasn't a fan of this one. They just didn't click that great or have big highlights.
Jay Lethal, Singh and Dutt are interviewed. Jay said they aren't taking Samoa Joe lightly, but are taking his title.
Nese and Sterling go up to Best Friends and want OC's signature on their petition. Nese says he will make OC sign it. Danhausen comes in. Sterling suggests Nese vs OC with Oc having to sign it if he wins but Dan beats him to it and says it first. OC agrees.
The Acclaimed and The Gunn Club vs Bear Country, Leon Ruffin and Fuego del Sol
Austin takes away Max's mic. Sol is popped up and thrown. Colten lariats Sol. Bowens is back from injury here and hits his tornado ddt on Bowens. Bronson gets some offense in and double clotheslines the Gunn's. Colten is lariated over the top and Austin takes a chokebomb. Bowens superkicks Bronson then jumps over him from behind with a fameasser. Max hits a top rope elbow but Austin tags himself in and gets the pin.
This was a short squash used to push the Gunn Club/Acclaimed issues.
The Gunn's beat up the Acclaimed after and Billy breaks it up. Gunn then nails Max. Bowens wants a scissor handshake but takes a fameasser.
Miro does a promo on Malakai Black. Miro says he collects the weak while he disposes of them. Miro says he is coming for Black.
The Baddies were interviewed. Stokeley said if we can have interim champs, we can have interim baddies. He said 3 girls are better than 2 and Jade says if Leila Gray doesn't deliver, that's his @ss.
FTR does a promo. They said they are tired of people thinking they aren't the best in the world and they challenged The Briscoes for the ROH PPV.
AEW Interim Title - Jon Moxley (c) vs Brody King
Brody knocks him down with one chop. Brody throws him into the rails then runs into the steps. Mox then russian leg sweeps him into the rail. Mox is back body dropped on the floor/stage end then thrown over a table. Mox dragon screws him then is caught in a grounded choke.
Mox works the knee more and is caught with a black hole slam. We go to PiP break and return. Brody misses a cannonball then Mox rakes his back. Mox superplexes him then release dragon suplexes him. They trade forearms and Brody hit him with a lariat and piledriver. Brody hanging chokes him from the top rope and lets go. Brody then cannonballs him for 2. JR called him Brodie Lee then Mox hit a paradigm shift ddt. Mox then put a bulldog choke on Brody and won it.
Brody took a little too much offense for my liking and they just didn't gel that well. It also didn't really help things that I don't think anyone though Brody had a real chance to win.
Overall thoughts: I skipped one match but still felt like a long and not a particularly interesting show. Not awful, but nothing too good either.
