New Japan Pro Wrestling 7/27/2022 G1 Climax 32 Day 7

I'm just covering the G1 matches here.

G1 Climax 32 Block D Match - Will Osperay vs Yujiro Takahashi

Will 2nd rope forearms Yujiro early then dropkicks him. They go outside and Yujiro bites his hand, throws him into the rails and reverse ddt's him on the floor. They go back in and Yujiro hits some forearms. Yujiro backdrops him then Will pokes him in the eye. Will is whipped into the ropes and does a handspring into a back enzugiri.

Yujiro then hits an olympic slam for 2. Will enzugiri's him and is crotched on the top rope. They fight up there then will does a top rope hidden blade for 2. Will hits a springboard 450 for 2.

Will goes for the hidden blade, but Yujiro grabs the ref and throws him in the way then hits a low blow. Yujiro samoan drops him then hits a nice satellite ddt on him. Yujiro then hits a ddt for 2. Will comes back with a spinning forearm and hook kick then Will pops him up into a forearm. Will then hits a hidden blade and wins it.

Yujiro's slow and rarely ever inspired and this was just Will trying to carry him and trying to get anything out of him.

G1 Climax 32 Block A Match - Toru Yano vs Bad Luck Fale

Yano can't get anywhere with forearms early and is easily knocked down by Fale's forearms and shoulder. Yano rolls him up and sits down in a chair outside, asking him to come out. Fale then sits down in a chair inside. The count gets higher and Yano is forced to get in. Yano then trips him into a chair. Fale slams Yano then Yano slaps him in the back of the head.

Yano hits some more slaps to the back of the head and goes outside. He gets on his knees and Fale kicks him. Yano grabs something under the ring and sprays Fale with it, then pulls off a turnbuckle pad. Yano throws it at him, then Fale beats him with it. Yano low blocks Fale but goes into the exposed buckle and Fale wins it with a roll-up.

This was stupid with a bunch of shenanigans as expected.

G1 Climax 32 Block C Match - Hirooki Goto vs Aaron Henare

They trade shoulders early and then Henare shoulders him over. Goto then hiptosses him and shoulders him over. Both guys get whipped into the rails outside and Goto is lariated on the floor. Henare stomps on him then does a twisting kick off the 2nd rope. Henare does an STF variation then takes a spinning lariat.

Goto hits some forearms, a spinning heel kick then a bulldog. Henare forearms him and drops him with a big chest kick. Henare hits some strikes then samoan drops him. Heane then 2nd rope sentons him for 2. Goto neck neckbreakers him over the knee and makes his spit fly on a lariat. Henare berzerker bombs him and hits some strikes.

Goto hits a running lariat and Henare fires up leading to a forearm trade. They slap each other and Goto catches his kick but takes a jumping knee. Henare goes a big spear for 2. Henare goes for the full nelson at 15 minutes then hits a nice spin kick to the face. Goto bridges him on the middle rope then elbow slices him down.

Goto hits a chest kick then Goto hits a fireman's carry into an elbow slice for 2. Goto then wins it with a GTR (dragon sleeper into a slice).

There was some decent stuff here but Henare really needs to pick up the pace some in these matches and he needs to show more fire and personality. That would have been real good if those things had been done. It felt like it took 10 minutes for things to really get moving.

G1 Climax 32 Block B Match - Tomohiro Ishii vs Tama Tonga

They trade shoulders early and Ishii takes armdrags. Tama misses a dropkick and is shouldered over. They trade shots and Ishii chops him down. They trade forearms and Ishii drops him with one. Ishii headbutts him then Tama suplexes him. Tama hits a nice flying splash then spinning backdrops him for 2.

Tama hits some chops and Ishii stares him down then chop and forearm combos him in the corner. Ishii backdrops him and Tama its a nice dropkick. Ishii then runs him over with a shoulder. Ishii then 2nd rope brainbusters him.

Tama hits a twisting neckbreaker and dropkicks him. Tama hurricanrana's Ishii then does a side Finlay roll. Tama then top rope splashes him for 2. Tama goes for a jumpingcutter but Ishii falls back and kind of backdrops him. Tama euros him and Ishii delay sells it. Ishii takes a lariat and drops him with a forearm. Ishii powerbombs him for 2. Ishii enzugiri's him then Tama rushes at him and takes a big lariat.

Tama tries to reverse a suplex with a stunner then Tama jumping ddt's him for 2. Tama goes for a jumping cutter and is swatted down, avoids a sliding lariat then hits one of his own. They trade headbutts then Ishii takes a twisting elevated ddt. Tama runs into a forearm then TKO's him for 2. Ishii then hits a TKO. Tama does a nice sell for a running lariat for 2. Tama step up enzugiri's him then Ishii brainbusters him for the win.

This was a good match. Not so much of a match with a story but the action was really good here. They got the pacing mostly right, they busted out some big moves for Tama's rare main event and they made Tama seem right on Ishii's level. They didn't overdo it and these two surpisingly matched up very well. Ishii hit some stiff shots here and Tama really delivered. I don't think they could have done a much better job than what they did here.

Overall thoughts: The main was a good match worth going out of your way to see and the semi-main did have some holes in it, but also had some good parts to it too.
