Dramatic Dream Team 6/19/2022 King of DDT 2022 2nd Round
Here's what I saw:
Burning (Yusuke Okada & Yuya Koroku) & The 37KAMIINA (MAO & Shunma Katsumata) vs Chris Brookes, Yuji Hino, Yuki Ishida & Yukio Naya
Shunma runs at Naya to start and goes down. Brookes and Shunma trade forearms then Shunma hurricanrana's and dropkicks him. Yuya hits running forearms on Hino and Hino doesn't budge much. Hino suplexes Yuya then Ishida slams Yuya. Brookes chops Yuya thne Hino fallaway slams him.
Naya back kicks Yuya then Yuya forearms him off the 2nd rope. Shunma and Mao then dropkick Naya and Shunma rolls Mao onto Naya. Naya and Mao trade forearms and Mao distracts him then punches him. Naya lariats Mao and facekicks Shunma then Naya cries after being teased by Mao.
Brookes puts Mao in an octopus stretch. Mao tries to distract Brookes but gets nailed then then Mao bounces off the ropes and spin kicks him. Okada top rope dropkicks Brookes and hits some forearms on Hino. Hino isn't bothered by them and chops him. Hino chops him again and again. Okada hits forearms on him then is chopped down again. Okada dropkicks him in the knee then Hino is triple suplexed (yes, triple).
Ishida hits forearms on Shunma then splashes him. Ishida then shoulders him over for 2. Shunma dropkicks Ishida then is crotched on the top rope. Hino then gets in and suplexes Shunma. Hino's team all hits moves on Shunma for 2. Ishida fights off a 2v1 with Okada/Jun then is backdropped. Shunma goes for a top rope splash but Ishida gets his knees up. Shunma superkicks Ishida and is rolled up for 2. Mao superkicks Ishida then Ishida takes a double chokeslam for 2. Ishida then takes a powerbomb/top rope blockbuster combo and Shunma gets the win on him.
This was short for how many people were involved but it was decent and they kept it moving.
Kickboxing Tag Team Match - Gota Ihashi & Hikaru Machida vs Shinya Aoki & Toi Kojima
This is tag team kickboxing with rounds.
1st round - Aoki kicks Goto on the apron and Machida takes double team stomps in the corner. Machida kicks Toi in the gut and knocks him down then Machinda punch, knee and kick combos him. Toi barely stays up and Machida lights him up more with punches, a jumping knee and knees. Goto and Toi flurry each other and Goto goes down via a punch. Toi hits punches and the round ends as Goto guillotines him.
We have a very hot ring girl, Sanae Takebayashi, who is an indy wrestler. Aoki tries to touch Sanae's butt.
2nd round - Machida hits a hard leg kick on Aoki then Aoki rolls out after a rib kick. Aoki pulls him out and whips him into the rails. gotto gets whipped as well and Machida gets beaten up in the stands and at the commentary booth. One of the producers gets punched by Machida then chaired by Aoki. Aoki headbutts Machida. We head back in and Toi punch flurries and stomps on Machida. Aoki chokes Machida with a towel why Toi punches him. toi punch combos Machida then Machida hits a big shot as the round ends.
3rd round - Toi punches Goto and Goto somehow stands after a right hand. Goto asks him for more then gives him one. They yell at each other and Aoki kicks Goto as he runs the ropes. Toi and Aoki double team Goto then Machida comes in and nails Aoki. Machida hits a swinging right hand on Toi then Goto moonsaults Toi and pins him to win.
This was wild and odd. I think people should have been disqualified or counted out if the rules were actually held to here but they did entertain me with this. I can't say I've seen anything like this before.
King of DDT 2022 2nd Round - Kazusada Higuchi vs Masahiro Takanashi
We have a fake Masa and then the real one attacks Higuchi from behind. He then headscissors him and rolls him up. Higuchi hits some chops on him. Masa and fake Masa (Akki) jump on the apron and Higuchi lariats them both off. Higuchi rams masa into the buckles and slams him for 2. Higuchi running clotheslines him then Masa superkicks him. Masa goes for a code red, but it is blocked and Higuchi ssemingly taps him out with a gori-special-esque move.
Someone gets on the mic and the match continues. Masa gets his code red blocked and Higuchi uranage's him to win.
No idea what went on here with the person on the mic and neither did the commentators. I thought it was kind of clever up until that.
King Of DDT 2022 Second Round Match - Yuki Ino vs Jun Akiyama
The little I saw of this was the usual crap with Ino doing gay stuff and showing his bare bottom.
King Of DDT 2022 Second Round Match - Yuki Ueno vs Daisuke Sasaki
Sasaki tells his Damnation crew to leave ringside at the start. Ueno hits forearms early and double knee drops him. Ueno hits a nice exploder and slams him. They go outside and Ueno throws him into the rails. Ueno drops another knee on him inside then they go back outside again. Ueno hits him and they go through the entrance curtain then we come back with out with Paul throwing Ueno into the post and Kanon helping to beat him up. The ref watches and could care less.
Ueno gets thrown into the rails then is dropped throat first on the rails. Sasaki neckbreakers him and Ueno tries to comeback but is thrown down. Ueno suplexes him then hits a vader bomb style kneedrop. Ueno then leaps over him from behind with a facebuster. Sasaki crossfaces him then takes a rebound german. Sasaki then release germans him and superkicks him. Ueno hits a big dropkick. Ueno goes for a ddt and Sasaki grabs hte ref. Paul then grabs Ueno. Sasaki gets sent out and Ueno tries to plancha him but Sasaki chairs him in front of the ref. The ref again does not care.
Ueno starts to bleed a bunch and Sasaki punches him in the head. Ueno rolls out and goes back in then Sasaki ddt's him. Sasaki puts him in a grounded octopus then foot slaps him. Ueno fights back with hard forearms and chops, then is eye raked. Ueno overhead belly to bellies him then dropkicks him in the corner. They fight up top and Ueno frogsplashes him from up there. The ref gets pulled out on the count. Sasaki goes up top and Ueno follows then dropkicks him up there then moonsaults from the top to the floor on him. They go back into the ring and Ueno shining wizards him.
Sasaki gets his knees up on Ueno's double jump moonsault, then pedigrees him and turns it into a crossface. Sasaki hurricanrana's Ueno then Ueno does a forward rolling ddt and wins it.
I hated this. Sasaki cheated in full vision of the ref and the ref could have cared less. None of Ueno's buddies helped him and it went too long. It's a shame too because this was designed to put over Ueno as a face.
King Of DDT 2022 Second Round Match - Naomi Yoshimura defeats HARASHIMA
They go to the mat to start. Naomi slams him and Harash breaks on his bodyscissors. Harash backdrops him for 2 and gutbusters him over the knee. Harash kicks him in the ribs, puts him on the middle rope then presses down and drives him into the mat. Harash octopus stretches him and Naomi hiptosses him out. Naomi coconut crushes him and then rams him of the apron into the rails.
Naomi chops him in the corner then running lariats him. Naomi then delay superplexes him off the 2nd rope. Harash backdrops him then hits a sdtiff forearm. They trade forearms then Harash shotgun dropkicks him. Harash then falcon arrows him for 2 and springboard double stomps him. Naomi lariats him in the back of the head and then chokeslams him. Harash hurricanrana's him then meteora's him in the back. Naomi then recovers with a lariat.
They trade chest kicks for chops and Harash eventually wins that exchange and drops him. Harash buzzsaw kicks him and meteora's him for 2. Harash springboards and Naomi catches him with a side throw. Naomi then powerbombs him and Haras gamengiri's him. He hits a buzzsaw kick then Naomi hits a sick swinging side fireman's carry slam for the upset.
It started off good with the rib work, but that was forgotten quick. I thought the second half was good with some extra spirit and them trying to make this feel like a moment with Naomi winning, but it would have been better if the first half lead into it.
Overall thoughts: Not one of my favorite DDT shows. The main was okay and the kickboxing match was amusing. I also liked the multi-person tag, but I've seen better and expected better.
