JD McDonagh vs Cameron Grimes
Grimes shoulders him over and is kicked in the leg. Grimes comes back with a chest kick then high kicks him. Grimes throws him hard into the buckles and hits a nice back body drops. Grimes then kicks JD off the apron and he takes a nice bump for it. JD then trips his legs from the apron and hits a nice slingshot corkscrew senton. JD single leg crabs him and Grimes hits a top rope crossbody. Gacy appears on the high-riser as we go to PiP break.
Grimes knees JD in the gut then running forward kicks him as he is seated. JD wraps Grimes' leg around the post and smacks it off of it. JD clips him and works the knee more. Grimes hits some running forearms then does a nasty swinging side slam. Grimes enzugiri's him then slap combos him and fires up. Grimes then superkicks him. JD hits a headbutt then runs into a knee.
Grimes is on the apron and is pushed and gets his leg stuck in the ropes. He hangs there as JD kicks the knee then JD pulls him into a backdrop to win it.
I didn't think it was that special or anything but they took some nice bumps here.
Nikkita Lyons does a promo. She said 19 stars stand in her way of a championship match. She said they can bring the fight but she is bringing the heat. She says Mandy can't duck and dodge her after tonight then does a high kick.
Tiffany Stratton does a promo. She said she is offended she has to compete in the battle royale as she deserves a title match. She said she will win the battle royale tonight.
Cora Jade came out. She was making goofy faces and gestures, wearing all black. Cora said she should have stabbed her best friend in the back sooner. She said she has been the face of the women's division. She said Roxanne has been getting her attention. She told the fans to go to hell and said Roxanne used her to get to NXT. She said Roxanne is a selfish b!tch and took credit for attacking her in the parking lot. She said she was going to take her place in the women's title match but Roxanne ruined her moment when she wrestled in it. She said it felt good when she hit her with the title belt. She said no one would stand in her way of winning the battle royale tonight. She said the NXT Women's Tag Title isn't worth anything to her and represents a lie. She said this marks the end of Cora Jade and the beginning of the Generation of Jade. She then throws the title in the garbage. I hated this naturally, but it may be the end of the Women's Tag Titles on NXT and the main roster. This brand never really needed women's tag titles and the main roster really didn't either. I wasn't a fan of the idea from the start and the titles have not been a success as expected.
Xyon Quinn was interviewed. Xyon said, "Good for Cora". He said it's not a "we" business, it's a "me" business. He said attacking Apollo last week was great and said he will get what he wants next week - a 1v1 match with Apollo. He said he doesn't care for Apollo and said he couldn't cut it in the big leagues. He said Apollo doesn't have the x-factor like he does and the x-factor will be on display next week.
Indi Hartwell said flying solo has not been a nice ride so far. She said she made the right choice as you can't trust anyone. She said tonight is everyone woman for themselves in the battle royale and she will earn the right to challenge for Mandy Rose's title.
Roderick Strong vs Damon Kemp
They do some grappling to start and Kemp shoulders him over. Kemp hits a nice spinning slam and elbow drops him. Kemp hits a nice side suplex then Strong gutbusters him. Strong clubs on him in the corner then suplexes him. Strong jumping stomps him and knees him in the gut. Kemp then hits some lariats and does a flipping lariat. Kemp suplexes him and does a slingshot spear that doesn't look so good.
They lariat each other down then Tony D gets on the tron. He says he got his attention and his crew is seen beating up the Creed's. Tony said the the only thing that is forever is Tony D. Strong then hits a high knee on Kemp as he is distracted by Tony and wins it. Kemp stumbles outside.
Pretty Deadly is in the back. They are doing southern accents. Elton has cleaning materials and say they will get the titles back tonight. They say the belts probably smell like garbage then put on cowboy hats and say, "roll tide". They also call Briggs and Jensen "hillbillies". Elton says it is time to "cowboy up".
We then cut to the Brooks and Jensen's locker room. They are all fired up and Jensen said they are coming in filled with piss and vinegar. Jensen says they will get a country @ss whippin'. Fallon says don't worry about her tonight.
The Creed's are in the back and say they will get the D'Angelo family back. Strong said they should have been able to take them. Damon Kemp then comes in and Strong asks wha took so long. Strong freaks out and says, "everyone listen to me". Strong then says Tony D started this, but they finish it and it's far from over.
WWE NXT UK Tag Titles - Briggs and Jensen (c) vs Pretty Deadly
PD is wearing cowboy styled outfits to mock Briggs and Jensen. Jensen hits a chop and lariat combo on Prince then back body drops him. Jensen has Elton up for a suplex but Kit breaks it up. Brooks and Jensen do stereo shoulder tackles then do their slide out of the ring spot into punches.
Prince sleepers Briggs on his back and tries to crossbody him off the ropes but is caught and slammed. Briggs sends Prince over the top and he knocks Fallon over on his landing. We go to break and return with PD in control. Jensen gets hung on the top rope then Elton controls him with a guillotine. Kip and Jensen trade shots then Prince euro's Jensen in the corner. Prince misses acorner splash then Briggs gets the hot tag in. He hits punches, a big boot and a side slam. He splashes Prince then Kip crossbodies him in the air.
Prince gives Kip a belt outside then throws another belt in to Briggs. Jensen high boots Prince on the outside then Fallon and Kip fight over the belt. B&J hit a high/low on Kip and grab the win.
The finish was messy here and it wasn't anything too special.
We get a Diad and Gacy video. Gacy said they surrendered themselves to him and rebuilt themselves as pillars of inclusion and acceptance. He said it is time for htem to emerge and says there is no going back. He asks if they accept this fate and the Dyad are revealed to be the Grizzled Young Vets. They have new names - Jagger Reed and Rip Fowler. Rip has crazy eyes and Reed has a shaved face. They say they finally can feel joy and be recognized. Gacy then says Welcome Home. I don't have a problem with this. The Vet's are good but they weren't doing much. They may get a push with this new gimmick and if nothing else, it'll be something new. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't and if it doesn't, they can always go back to the old gimmick.
Bron is shown in the parking lot looking for JD McDonagh.
Wes Lee is interviewed. They said everyone is dropping his name. He said Trick blinded him at the GAB, but his vision is back. He said he's not done dancing with him yet. He brought up Grayson Waller and said he can only blame himself for the hell he is about to take. He said he is on a 2 stop detour with Waller first, then Trick.
Bron Breakker does a promo. He said Grimes tried to make things personal with him. He said JD wanted his attention and got it. He said he will pay for what he did. JD appears on the tron and asks how his shoulder is. JD says his opponents were competing against him, but he will dissect him. JD is in front of a dummy and says there are 8 muscles in the shoulder. JD said Grimes hurt him, but he will disable him. He said he knows how to tear a tendon from the bone. He says Bron thinks he will fight through the pain, but there is only so much the brain can go through before it shuts off. Bron then interrupts and says one day he will have to face him in the ring. He tells him if he can't find his balls to take some from the mannequin. JD says Bron's future changed at the GAB and said unnecessary evil has arrived in NXT. He told Bron to mind his shoulder.
We see clips of Solo Sikoa at Smackdown. He said he isn't done with Von Wagner and will slap him when he sees him, then Von jumps him. Von throws him into the side of a truck and knees him. He said, "this is the street champ, huh? I just put the street champ on his @ss".
Axiom debuts next.
The Creeds do a promo. They are mad at the D'Angelo family. Brutus says if you jump one of them, you jump all of them. Roddy tells Tony to take off his stupid hat and says they are the strongest family in NXT. Julius tells Tony to accept their challenge. He said they either beat their @sses or they hunt them down and beat their @sses.
Axiom vs Dante Chen
Axion has cool slow motion graphics for his entrance that makes it look like he is warping. Axiom rolls him around and does a nice spin around Chen's back. Axiom flips out of a wristlock then armdrags and enzugiri's him. Axiom is thrown out of the ring then he rolls him up off the 2nd rope. Chen tilt-a-whirl backbreakers him then foreamrs him in the lower back.
Axion spinning ddt's him then does a nice pele kick. Axiom top rope crossbodies him then jumping kicks him for the win.
Axtion didn't do anything super special here but also didn't blow anything. It doesn't really seem like it'll be a great gimmick that'll get him anywhere.
Lash Legend does a promo. She said she is the top 1 and the odds on favorite to win the battle royale tonight. She said she will see Fyre's bird brain in the battle royale and said she will realize that nobody messes with Lash.
Giovanni Vinci is asked for a picture. He takes one of himself and goes to walk away. Vinci says he does not take pics with people. He said everyone wants one with him after handling Apollo Crews last week. Chase U then arrives from a tour bus. They invited Vinci to the show. Thea Hail touches the car and Bodi says he is invited anyway. Vinci asks who will get the bus out of the way so he can leave? Neat little segment.
We see Cameron Grimes in the back. They want to interview him and he says not now. He flips out and is mad about losing matches lately. He tells them to let him go home. Joe Gacy then goes up to him and says he understand how he feels. Grimes says not now.
The D'Angelo Family is interviewed. Tony said Elektra looks ready to win the battle royale. Tony said Diamond Mine needs a dojo because they can't fight on the streets. Tony said they don't get along with each other and says they accept the challenge. He says next week Diamond Mine is finished.
#1 Contender Women's Battle Royale
Zoey Stark returned for this. Everyone started looking at Cora then Cora went out and got nailed by Ivy. Ivy chased her out. Amari Miller was first eliminated then Arianna Grace was kicked off the apron by Indi. Alba got her hurricanrana caught by Lash and was swung into someone. She then hurricanrana'd Lash over the top. They then fought more outside. Choo nearly got eliminated but landed on her pillow and kept her feet up. Feroz took Zoey on the apron then Zoey three her off onto her partner then out. Kiana James eliminated Fallon Henley then Tiff hit Wendy Choo with her cup to eliminate her.
We went to PiP break and returned with T-A watching from the lounge. Carter and Chance did a silly string and eliminated Ivy Nile. Ivy then eliminated Chance after she was out. Ivy then got beaten down for it. Tatum Paxley then made the save for her by eliminating herself and crossbodying Chance and Carter.
Indi took a hard fall to the floor via Tiff Stratton. We came down to the last 4 of Nikkita, Kiana, Tiff and Zoey. Nikkita hit a hip attack on Tiff and threw Zoey on a release german. Kiana then did a backflip and took a hard spin kick. Nikkit eliminated Kiana then Tiff threw out Nikkita. Zoey and Tiff were the last two and Tiff saved herself from elimination. Zoe then lariated her over the top and Tiff got as close as you could to going out without doing so. Tiff messed up a dropkick then did a cartwheel backflip into an elbow that Zoey caught. Zoey german'd her and threw her out. Cora Jade then returned and was thrown out for the Zoey win.
This wasn't too bad for a battle royale and while I don't like Zoey winning, she pretty much had to since it's her return. They kept it at just a little over 10 minutes and created some programs here. I did not know NXT had so many women on their roster and believe it or not, they still missed a few like Thea Hale, Brooklyn Barlow and Sol.
Overall thoughts: Not a lot of great wrestling here, but they did build up some future programs. We have Zoey/Mandy, some other pairings from the battle royale, Vinci/Chase U, Grimes and Gacy and Waller/JD.
