DDT/NOAH/TJPW Cyberfight Festival 2022 6/12/2022
Cyberfight owns all three promotions and had an all-star show because of it.
I saw 7 of the matches on this 6 hour show. There were some intergender matches which I had no interest in watching and it was just a long show.
121000000 (Maki Ito & Miyu Yamashita) & Juria Nagano vs Hikari Noa, Suzume & Yuki Arai
Maki got backup dancers for her entrance.
Juria kicks Arai early then jumping thrust kicks her. Maki slams Arai. She then poses on Miyu's knees and does a poor drop down on Arai for 2. Juria strike combos Arai then Arai slams her. Juria takes some corner moves then her three opponents abuse her in the corner.
Noa hits a dropkick on Juria then Juria palm strikes her. Maki headbutts Noa then bulldogs her off the ropes. The two trade forearms then Noa superkicks her. Maki then back rolls into a crab on her. Noa hits an unusual exploder where she bends over backwards and doesn't even really fall down.
Suzume gets in and hits some dropkicks on Miyu. Miyu then slips on her triangle enzugiri in the corner. Suzume hits a nice roll-up then uses the ropes to bulldog Miyu. Suzume steps off of Miyu's leg for a facebuster then Arai face kicks Miyu. Suzume top rope crossbodies Miyu for 2.
Miyu high kicks Suzume then hits a nasty spinning roundhouse kick on her for the win.
It fell off a little at the end but was entertaining. Juria didn't get a lot in here and is still really green and it felt like Maki was in for most of this.
El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr., Michael Elgin, Rene Dupree, Simon Gotch & Timothy Thatcher vs Daiki Inaba, Kazuyuki Fujita, Masa Kitamiya, Shuhei Taniugchi and Takashi Sugiura
Dupree and Sugi stare down to start. Dupree offers a handshake and Sugi accepts. Sugi hits a bunch of hard forearms in the corner then Rene hits a punch and chop combo. Rene powerslams Sugi then Wagner comes in.
Wagner and Renee flying double chop Sugi for 2. Wagner then backbreakers and double stomps Sugi. Sugi then back drops Wagner. Wagner step up enzugiri's Fujita then Tim ties up Fujita. Fujita hits some forearms on him and lariats him. Taniguchi and Tim trade euros and forearms then Tim headbutts him in the shoulder. Tim hits a big belly to belly then Gotch gets in and armbars Taniguchi. Gotch then elbow drops Taniguchi off the apron onto the floor.
Everyone gets in the ring and fights then Taniguchi powerslams Gotch. Masa and Elgin trade shoulders and forearms. Elgin spinning chops him then Masa flying lariats him. Elgin then hits a nice pendulum sitout side slam on Masa. Elgin then enzugiri's him but gets suplexed during his suplex attempt.
Inaba gets in and cannonballs Elgin. They trade chops and forearms then Inaba blue thunders him for 2. Elgin pump kicks Masa then does a fallaway slam on Inaba with Masa on his shoulders. Masa gets lariated over the top then Wagner springboards off the 2nd rope to plancha him outside. Inaba germans Elgin but Elgin no sells it and lariats him. Elgin deadlift buckle bombs him then spinning sitout powerbombs him for the win.
You know the deal with these matches. They can be fun and all, but there's too many people and not enough time. Some people here barely got anything in and they needed another 15 minutes or so. What we got was fun though.
Stinger (HAYATA & Yoshinari Ogawa) & Rob Van Dam vs Daisuke Harada, Kaito Kiyomiya & YO-HEY
RVD's not even the oldest guy in the ring here if you can believe that as he is 52 and Ogawa is 55.
Kaito hits some nice dropkicks on RVD early. RVD throws him over the top but he hangs on then RVD monkey flips him. RVD kicks him in the face and he rolls out. RVD then baseball slides him and drops him over the rail. RVD then does his spin kick off the apron on him as he hangs. RVD then top rope crossbodies him off the top.
Harada and Hayata go at it and Hayata is popped up and goes down. Yohey headscissors and dropkicks Hayata. Hayata gets hiptossed by Ogawa onto Yohey. Ogawa and RVD then double lariat Yohey and RVD spinning legdrops Yohey. RVD spin kicks Yohey. Hayata goes for a handspring back elbow and Yohey catches him with a dropkick in the back.
Kaito gets in and flying clotheslines Hayata then top rope dropkicks him. RVD hits rolling thunder on Kaito then RVD hits a split legged moonsault on him for 2. Kaito then flying knee's RVD. Harada clears out his opponents then Harada and Yohey tope their opponents outside. RVD takes a double dropkick. He catches Harada's leg and spin kicks him then RVD top rope frog splashes him for the win.
Eh, you know the deal here. It was basically a showcase for RVD. It wasn't bad or anything but there wasn't a ton to this except RVD hitting his signature spots. RVD has slowed down some, but he can still do almost all of his main offense.
Atsushi Kotoge, Katsuhiko Nakajima and Yoshiki Inamura vs Burning (Jun Akiyama and Tetsuya Endo) and Kazusada Higuchi
The NOAH crew had Japanese drums for their entrance. DDT had people twirling white ddt flags.
Kotoge slaps Jun early then Jun gives him one back. They stare down and don't do much else. Ina and Higuchi test strength and ram into each other. Then Higuchi shoulders Ina over. Nakajima tags himself in then stalls some.
Nakajima hits some leg kicks on Endo then Endo hits some forearms. They butt heads and Endo hits more forearms. Nakajima slaps him and Endo is knocked out legit. The ref calls off the match and Jun and Nakajima stare down after.
There was nothing to this until the accidental knockout. It's unfortunate and it was a very unusual situation.
Hardcore Match - Kenoh vs Daisuke Sasaki
Sasaki had druids holding crosses for his entrance and a fake Ken-Oh died during it.
Ken has quite the haricut for this one. Sasaki slaps him around early then Ken stmomps his face. Ken hits some kicks and gets dragon screwed. Sasaki then puts a gundam helmet on Ken. Ken high kicks him and throws the helmet at his then chest kicks him. Yoshihiko, the inflatable doll, is then thrown in the ring and Ken throws it out into the crowd. Sasaki then chairs him.
Sasaki puts Ken's leg around the post and chairs it. Sasaki then chairs Ken's leg around the rail. A table is set up outside then Ken high kicks Sasaki off the apron. Sasaki is put on the table and Ken double stomps him off the top rope onto it. Ken hits some kicks on Sasaki then is eye-raked.
Ken sleepers Sasaki on the apron then both men's partners fight outside. Masakatsu Funaki tries to ride a bike into Sasaki but nails his partner Manabu Soya instead. Sasaki misses a top rope elbow then stun guns Ken. Sasaki puts Ken in a chair next the announcers then dives off the top rope and over the rail onto him.
Sasaki brings a casket into the ring and pours thumbtacks in it. Ken slams Sasaki into it then Sasaki comes back with a stunner. Sasaki sets up a ladder and puts a cross on Ken. Ken gets up and beats Sasaki with the cross then suplexes him off the ladder. Sasaki no sells it and they duck each others kicks then hit some. Ken then pele kicks Sasaki. Ken hits some hard chest kicks and drops Sasaki.
Ken hits some hard slaps then Sasaki flips out of his dragon suplex and crossfaces him. Sasaki then chairs him. Sasaki climbs the ladder for an elbow but Ken mists him on the way down. Ken hits buzzsaw kicks and wins with a double stomp off the ladder.
This was a lot better than I expected. They blended the styles well. It went a little longer and was a little slower than I thought it needed to be but they had an interesting and different hardcore match here. This would have also been a lot better with a crowd that could cheer, but that was not the case here.
Princess Of Princess Title Match - Shoko Nakajima (c) vs Yuka Sakazaki
Yuka hiptosses her early then they armdrag each other. Shoko goes for a tope and ends up nailing people other than Yuka then Yuka flip dives her off the 2nd rope. They try some pinfall attempts and Yuka hits a sloppy headscissors.
Shoko dropkicks her into the corner then Yuka comes back with a shining wizard in the corner. Yuka does an interesting double springboard dropkick. Shoko tope con hilo's her then flying forearms her for 2. Yuka goes for a powerbomb but Shoko hurricanrana's her over the top.
Shoko puts her in a 3 handed moss covered family gradunza then neckbreakers her. Yuka then comes back with some tilt-a-whirl slam/suplex. Shoko hits a nice northern lights suplex then takes a very dangerous looking suplex. Shoko hits a stiff spinning forearm on her then Yuka hits a 619 on her for 2. They trade stiff forearms then Shoko 619's her.
Shoko hits a spinning kick to the head then Yuka hits her magical merry go round slam. Yuka misses her springbaord 450 then Shoko top rope sentons her for the win.
It wasn't great but it did have some highlights and a some sloppiness to it. They definitely tried here but this just wasn't the audience for this one.
GHC Heavyweight Title Match - Go Shiozaki vs Satoshi Kojima
Go had a really cool entrance here with a super long robe, fire, servants, flagbearers, fireworks, dancing and a throne. It was one of the best entrances ever. Kojima had dancers for his.
They start off slow here and then got into trading some chops. Koji shoulders him. Go rolls out and gets knocked off the apron as he tries to get in. Koji then plancha's him. Koji gets thrown into the rails and Go put's Koji's arm around the rail and kicks the rail. Go then running knee's Koji as his head hangs off the apron hen knee drops it. Go then backdrops him inside for 2.
The two trade chops and Go gets the edge. Koji comes back with a backdrop then Go gives him a backdrop. Koji hits some machine gun chops in the corner. Go then gives him machine gun chops back. Go delay fisherman busters him for 2 and Koji comes back with a ddt after blocking a german suplex. Koji then hits a rare shining wizard.
They battle on the apron and Go takes a weak ddt on it. Koji then cutters him. They go up top and Go hits a twisting brainbuster off of it. Go then hits a go flasher. Koji then immediately returns fire with a brainbuster of his own. Go lariats him then misses a top rope moonsault. Go then hits anothr lariat for 2.
Go hits an emerald flowsion for 2 then goes for a lariat but Koji lariats him first. Koji then hits a nice running lariat then hits another to win it.
Well, this was shorter than a lot of Noah main events. It was okay but really nothing too special. They just traded some lariats and chops and mirrored each other moves some before the finish. Not a classic and not their best by any means.
Overall thoughts: The production was top notch for this one and they did put out a good effort. I don't think they really maximized the DDT vs NOAH stuff like they could have, but I'm sure they will do more of these events. I enjoyed what I did see and look forward to the next one. It's just a shame Endo had to get injured in his match and it's a shame some of the bigger names got wasted in giant tag matches.
